The food variety is great, and it made me want to stay for longer to try more of their menu. They have shawarma poutine, which I think looks amazing, and I'm definitely coming back for it. The staff is very attentive and very polite. I got the beef shawara wrap with everything. It was amazing. The amount of food is perfect. Definitely recommend it. Also, every day, there is a different special, worth checking it out. I'm sorry I just remembered to take a picture after I had devoured half of it.
It was love at first bite, and only bite. Went with my homie and discovered what a real shwarama is tonight.
The sample bite I was offered was amazing. Most shwarama places don’t even care to add hummus or fresh vegetables or even love. But Ali Baba’s Middle eastern cuisine? They know how to do it right.
I will be back to be reunited with my love Ali Babas Middle Eastern Cuisine and purchase a full shwarma for only $9.99. (Also side note there chicken samosa wasn’t chicken i think it tasted like paneer so maybe don’t buy that).
Highly reccomend all to come to Ali Babas Middle Eastern Cuisine and purchase the Shwarama. These lovely people also offer a student discount of 8.99 for shwarama.
My Muslim mother came here one day after finishing Jury Duty at the Court House nearby as it was the closest Halal restaurant she could locate and was hungry. She suffered with extreme food poisoning from your shawarmas, and was unable to complete the rest of her trial. Extremely terrible service and poor quality food. Do better, she hasn't been so sick in years I hope you feel ashamed of the food you serve to people. Please never go here.
Good shawarma in downtown! It is not the best I have tried, and a little pricey for what it is worth. The customer service here is hit or miss. You get the occasional dirty look for saying no to something, they give attitude if you make specific preferences, and even gave my vegetarian friend a chicken shawarma by accident one time. It is a convenient place to grab a quick bite but not even close to the plethora of amazing shawarma places Toronto has to offer!
Very tasty chicken Shawarma, as always! If you are looking for an economic middle eastern restaurant in Toronto downtown, this is the best place. They have a very good dine-in place.
Okay i literally order from here every chance I get. I refuse to try the shawarma closer to my school because this one is just too good. Maybe I just love shawarma but im addicted to their shawarma
Really liked the platter meal, great flavour! Good portions for the price & the service is great! The chicken is well seasoned & the fish is really tasty, with a hint of spicy, the falafel was soft & crispy outside, great balance of meat, rice & veggies, they are generous with the sauces. No matter what time you go the food is good. Some middle Eastern places are fresh only during peek times like lunch, I've been here for lunch & dinner & it was tasty. Family run, central location & not fast food, healthy & fresh! Seating is good, parking not good but the dundas street car goes right by. Walking distance from Subway at University station. Great for lunch & down the street from City hall/Eaton Ctr/Dundas square, were there are lots of events. They are very good at customizing your meal if needed & can accommodate gluten free.
The food was uneatable. The meat must have been sitting there for some time.
In addition, I chose to have a mixed meat wrap and somehow the wrap cost more than the most expensive meat wrap they had, but considering it used that meat and a cheaper meat, I feel they purposely are ripping off customers.
They have lots of options, also special combo foods everyday. I ate two chicken gyro wrap @17CAD and a veg wrap (falafel?). They also have samosas and other dessert type food, but are mostly famous for wraps.
Toronto semi indoor street food at its finest. Tasty food, noise, heat, flies, and a decent price. The food is good. The place could use some heat solution engineering to cool the place down. Once a heat dome / vent and air conditioning get installed closed doors would help with the flies. The Urbarn Jungle is here.
This is the one. The best Ali Baba of all the Ali Baba’s in the GTA. Why, you ask… because of the people that work behind the counter. These guys and gals will give you what you want, any way you want it, and they will be generous with their helpings. No nickeling and diming their customers. They want you to be well fed.
I usually get their platter/plate, but everything behind the glass is quite enticing. Tasty food, big portions, no BS, and at a fair price. That’s what Ali baba’s is going to get you. I usually take it to go. There is nothing about the ambience here that would warrant dining in, but you can absolutely stay if you had to.
I love nearby and I had visited this place for over 200+ times. Recently they increased their price (fair, inflation), but omg, the guy puts veggies so little that it feels like he needs to feed the entire Toronto with the veggies in the basket. Flavours are good, but not consistent unfortunately.
This location is run down and in dire need of a renovation. Flies were plentiful and food safety could be questionable. I would go to other locations unfortunately, not this one unless there are major improvements.
What's better Paramount or Ali Baba's? If you are looking for the best value, Ali Baba's got you covered. If you want more of a sit down experience Ali Baba's may not be for you. I believe they have a BOGO deal on shawarma wraps offered on Mondays. Needless to say, Monday is my Shawarma day for lunch when at work!
Food is always fresh, clean, and well displayed. The staff take pride in their food and service. Price point is reasonable. Never once have I been disappointed with my order. I highly recommened it
I went to this store and asked for a Shwarma wrap but I asked if they can put it in a plastic plate like the dinners. Because I wanted to warm it up at home. I offered to pay for the container but he refused and said they don't do that. He refused my order and wouldn't just let me pay for the plastic container. He said I have to order the dinner to have the plastic container and won't let me pay for it to put my wrap inside. I've never had this problem, its crazy!
I bought a falafel wrap and a beef samosa to go. The server just got a samosa that has been sitting on the counter at room temperature and wrapped it up without reheating. The falafels were taken from the deep fryer tray that seems to have been sitting there for quite a while. Again, it was not reheated. However, the entire wrap was heated using the grill press.
When I got home, the wrap was cold. The wrap was very salty. If the scale is from 1 to 10 where 1 is a cup of tap water and 10 is licking sea salt, it would be a 7.5
It was also very acidic. I can feel my kidneys jumping into second gear to work off the sodium.
The food was fresh, beef and chicken were tasty - with as much of an authentic spice this side of the middle east (!). Our comparison comes from life in kuwait.and lebanon.you can say, we know what a shuwarma is supposed to taste.can even say the word with the right intonation, and in arabic:) service was wonderful, and the sandwiches were stuffed (just like it is across the ocean!)
One of the worst restaurant that I had ever visited. The person who served me is very ignorant moreover the food had no flavours at all and was expensive. It seems like food was stale
We had been here today for the first, really like the falafel wrap. The person who served us was really kind and friendly. Will come back again for sure. Good deals everyday
Very good cute of mest, solid prices, excellent services. These kind of places should pride themselves on efficiency to keep up with the down town working crowds, and this location does.
The falafel sandwich is really good, they don’t skip on the veggies and for $6 you really can’t go wrong. The Tuesday special 2 for $7 is worth. The chicken shawarma is also really nice, with the chicken being really moist and delicious. They have good service and I recommend anyone to visit for a quick bite.
Probably the healthiest fast food you can get in TO short of a couple healthy cafes in Kensington. This place kept me fed at least 2-3 times a week for 2.5 years. Fast & friendly service, both during the lunch rush and even in the middle of the night! Most Ali Baba locations match the good food quality, but this is one of the more spacious ones if you want to eat in.
Super delicious shawarmas! They also have an amazing sauce that goes over the fries! Prices are reasonable. Beef shawarma was my favorite but also don’t miss out on the fries.
This guys are trying to be so clever but they are not. If u go on Monday night after 12 and ask for today’s special the will give u the Monday special only but if u go on a tuesday night after 12 they will say it’s Wednesday now and will not give the tuesdays special They are trying not to sell Tuesday deal because they want to make more money
Really good prices and quick friendly service.mostly a take out place. Food well packed (no leaks). Travelled well back to Scarborough on public transit! Just a quick minute to reheat some. Weekly specials Would visit again.
Delicious food and good service and prices. I gave it a four as they made a wrong order and wanted my friends to let it go and take it thr way it is, but then when we talked to them, they changed the order.
Awful service. I went there recently and the server was so rude. He had added turnips to my salad and im allergic so I ask him to remove it and he said "should I send my assistant over to follow you and take each one off" in a very condescending manner. He should be fired, I will not return to this location again, he is losing this company business. Very very disappointed.
Unfriendly staff. I was handed a flimsy takeout container of soup, which went all over me when a door flung close on me. The staff couldn’t be bothered to spare a few napkins
The food was pretty decent. I took the beef shawarma where the beef quality was pretty good.cant say anything about any other food over there. The amount of vegetable will depend on how busy they are or how reluctant they are so if you want any ingredient sepecifically well put, you gotta say out loud. Other than that i found the restaurant to be pretty fine.
I do not eat here but I saw a charge from my statement on this location. Spoke to the owner who was not very friendly and not willing to refund unauthorized transaction. If they can't be trusted with a small amount of money, can you really trust them with food?
The shawarma here is very much above-average. There are great choices on the menu, and a good selection of "extras" available. The prices are great. The restaurant doesn't have any ambience at all, but that's not really the point. I was very happy about the food, although their vegetables could be slightly fresher. Their chicken shawarma is delicious. Great meal for about 5$! Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a quick bite in the area.
This place used to be great and friendly. Recently though, service has been poor. The workers seems annoyed and when I ask for extra veg they just add a pinch more. They also dont have turnip half the time, which is weird for a shawarma place.
This place used to be good that’s why I keep coming back. But lately, at least the last 4 times that I went there to get a shawarma wrap it was always a bad experience for me. The worst wrap I ever had, the guy serving might as well just gave me the pita bread. It was few pieces of vegetables and meat and I ask to add more veggies he put 2 pieces of thinly sliced onions. The person looks annoyed as if I’m not paying for it. Then he didn’t even roll the wrap he just loosely fold it so it looks big. I never had a puffy pita in my life, so when I took a bite it was falling apart and pieces if filling just fell out. I tried to roll it tight, it looks like a spring roll. I will never go there again. Worst shawarma!
Leaving only one star for the portion. As a flafel expert I would rate this place a one star and would by no means recommened the place to someone who is new to town or middle eastern food in general. Brown rice and yellow rise are always uncooked.no taste on the flafel. I have been there several times but the last two times i went in the evenning.the mid age guy who serves you is veryyy unfriendly.seeems very bored with what he does.not very sanitary.i mean his gloves.the plates.where he picks the breads.the whole thing was a mess.maybe coz it was 8 pm ish something and he was tired? But this wasnt the first time.he and his appearance (mentioned in some other reviews (attitude wise plus the way he serves food and wraps things (throwing tiny thin things in the wrap) is the only reason i promised myself not to ever go there eventhough I live nearby.true its good price for big portion if you are only looking to grab something at lunch or after work.but quality wise.environment and setting it only deserves one star.the ladies that are at cashier are polite and nice.but these two guys who serve food.they make you lose appetite.not so clean in general. P. S my last visit was June 3rd J believe.very recent.
Service was good and friendly. Tried the meat shawarma. It was decent and oversized. This is an issue in most places in Ontario - oversized and over filled, disintegrating half way through. Place needs a refurbishment.
This is easily the best Ali Baba's location around. They've got the best rice, give large portions, and don't cheap out with the tabbouleh. Get the chicken shawarma platter for the win.
A staff member cursed my mother in arabic for informing a fellow customer that there was a deal on their original order and they could get 2 for 1. The guy apparently thought I didn't understand. He said "kuss ummuk". Don't give these people your money folks.
