Good: taste and hours of operation Not very good: washroom closed off even to customers Details: We are vegetarian and can only have their falafel. Their wrap made with tortilla breads including their beet humus and the works is simply they make their falafel from scratch and its not the premade type therefore its freshness and taste. There isn't much atmosphere and music is blasting loud albeit great arabic selection Overall it beats any late night food options around.
Don't waste your time looking for best middle eastern food in Toronto elsewhere. The best is here, and not only their food is great, the owner and staff are all friendly and welcoming.
I have been dying to try this place out and it totally exceeded my expectations. I came in this evening, the service was amazing the man making our wraps was so friendly and the lady at the cash was lovely. The price was extremely reasonable for a huge amount of food. The quality is really good, everything was very fresh and hot. I loved it! The place was also very clean. 10/10 I will definitely be back!
Very very very tasty falafel and beef shawarma staffies! My husband is from Iraq and he said - the food tastes like home and to hear these words from him mean a lot, believe me The day before we were at halal guys place and I was very disappointed with the food, but Pita and Hummus place just made my day! Next time in Toronto will come to you guys first thing from a train station! Absolutely love it! Don’t have any photos because I was too hungry and the food was too tasty to have time for pictures
Amazing food, always fresh and extremely tasty! Best shawarma in downtown Toronto, wont be disappointed! Prices are great too! Wish there was more seating though
One of the best shawarmas the food was amazing I really recommend to visit.the decoration give a lot of Arab place vibe and big thanks to Omar for his service
WOW WOW WOW! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. A real hidden gem. This has to be one of the coolest spots for shwarma. A little pricey but the flavours are all there and if you ask him to surprise you for what you want in the shwarma he will put on a show in making it. 10/10 would recommend. The chicken and spicy falafel shwarma were amazing.
Delicious and everything you could ever want from a late night falafel and shawarma place.big portions good flavours friendly staff.could not ask for more
Nice middle eastern atmosphere. Warm service. Clean. And the FOOD was DELICIOUS Yum! Fresh and so tasty. Crispy outside. Warm inside. Thank you will be back
The chicken and the beef shawarmas are magnificent. Your eyes will roll back into your head from the delicious flavour. Nice, large portions too! Will definitely return.
Most recent reviews this past week were bought/fake and the wrap was 10$, puny, reminds me of a snack wrap. I used to take two bites horizontally just make shorter, now its just one. The TMU meal got increased by 2$ too.
I really like the concept of this Middle Eastern food of ali baba. The guy Ebil who is working there, giving good customer service and helps to place order.
The chicken shawarma’s taste is so delicious, I really recommend this place for who likes the traditional taste. I tried alot of places in Toronto.but, no one was like our real Arab shawarmas.
On Fridays there blasting Islamic music and on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays, they become different characters. Mean and will serve you your potato’s with their hands with gloves on while there’s a spoon in the potatoes tray and then try too justify it by saying they have their gloves on so it’s ok. Which fast food in any of Toronto even if it’s an Arab place (besides this one) serves you your fries or potatoes with their bare hands with gloves on scooping it out as if it was normal. And on top get mad at you for their wrongdoing. It’s very sad I can’t get my child a shawarma because these people are incompetent and inconsistent. And to top it off the cashier was rude. They don’t want my business anyway so I’ll be glad to take it somewhere else.
Pretty good food, don't always have pick up orders ready on time though. Also they switched the type of wrap they use for the shawarma wraps, I preferred the old ones, I hope they bring them back, at least as an option, I would pay more for the old wrap type.
I have been buying food from here 2 years am working near by Dundas square. Recently I getting the quantity of the food far more less than before. I always order for chicken shawarma plate. The quantity of chicken is like less. It’s like I need to have more rice and vegetables little amount of chicken. I am so disappointed on this.
Hi there, Purchased some food here over Uber eats. Got the fish plate. As I was eating l, my front tooth bit into a pebble.why is there a pebble in my meal? Can someone please explain? My front tooth is now feeling sensitive and minor pain. Added a dime to it for scale.
I’ve been to this location many times. Yes, it’s delicious and the staff are kind. However, during my last visit I saw something that will not let me go to this place anymore. Cleanliness is the most important thing when it comes to food.
Food tasted great! Portion size was good, everything was fresh and prices are reasonable. Staff are very kind and quick. Definitely my go to when I am in Young/Dundas area.
Student discount 7$ total. Order was beef shawarma wrap to go. Quite a bit of sauce. Vegetables were perfectly crisp, beef was great. Took maybe a minute and half to prepare. Delicious, fast and at a good price. Would recommend.
The food was amazing but the owner or a worker i m not sure but he is egyptian he was VERY RUDE! In an unbelievable way! If i hadn’t already payed for the meal i would’ve left!
As soon as we walked in, we should have known we were not drunk enough to eat here. The place smelt rotten and we soon found out it was from their menu. Took two bites and did my body a solid and threw the rest out. The two Habibis serving need to learn a thing or two about being in the service/food industry. God help their families
I was disappointed. Went there for daily special because I seen the advertisement on their web page, they apperantly are a special location and don't sell what they advertise.
Unfortunate situation happened where someone came in very aggressively. I think it was a homeless person because he was asking for free things, yellin at everyone, and was very smelly/dirty. The guy working grabbed him and kicked him out, and only used sanitizer to clean his hands to keep making my food.i felt uncomfortable.i didn’t find that very sanitary especially with covid and all.
I love this place, the food is real tasty, cheap, and they open until late night, You should go there for sure, always a good and fast good food option
Had a worst experience last night. Servers are more interested in their cellphone then serving customers. The guy put beef instead of Chicken and had to repeatedly tell him its chicken. I was served cold wrap all other places they grill it. No covid protocols mask were off, using same gloves to pick up their personal phone calls and for making a wrap.
Food was OK in terms of value but not particularly good quality or portion size and the fries were far too salty. Staff were unfriendly especially the team member working the register. Most likely wouldn't return.
The best Alibaba's is this store, the staff is the best of the whole restaurant, friendly and with excellent customer service, they serve good portions and everything is very clean! It is honestly from my Favorite places to eat lunch. Fast, inexpensive and full of flavor
Good is always amazing and also the staff that works here. They always care about you. Every single time that I go here i go home happy. Perfect attention.
Oh my god the Egyptian guy who was working in zaytuna restaurant by dandus I saw him again in Ali baba after long time almost 4 years he always made me happy with his great service and smile
Really after a long time, had tasted an awesome meal from this restaurant. Chicken shawarma was delicious. Fish fillet platter and Quarter roasted chicken platter was tasty and perfect both in terms of quantity and quality. Brothers who are working here as so generous and respectful. I really would like to visit this restaurant as many times I can.
First time trying this place shawama wrap was amazing the guy who made the sandwich for me is professional and he have a magic way on shawama I am really happy to discover this place
Great location. Come here time and again. Wife is pretty picky about how she enjoys her shawarma, and this Ali Baba’s always gets it right. Osama was very attentive and helpful. Thank you
Best priced, best sized shawarmas in the area.staff is very friendly and keeps the lines moving.my only complaint is that they don't have turnips as a topping (but I'm probably the only one that likes turnips lol). It's not a deal-breaker tho, cuz they have pickles.like dill pickles.not the cheap stuff either.the primo, pure, uncut, NYC style kosher dill. Mmmm.
Ahmed (curly hair) has the best customer service. He makes sure customer needs are met. He is calm composed and really makes sure he is giving his best. We go to Ali Baba all the time just because of this guy who is always smiling.
The chicken crazy wrap at this ali babas is amazing! I had it with pickles onions and hot sauce. No other ali babas does the crazy wrap as good as this location.
It uses to be my favourite place when I was a student I use to come almost every day. The service changed a lot so, the cashier is super rude and they are using the phone while serving and manage food (super healthy, if the inspection comes they will have a mark for sure) The two staff present had a lot of difficulties understanding our order, just one wrap with sauce and one no sauce. They have been very rude and unpleasant to a lot of customers around. Some even left the restaurant after ordering without getting them to order as they have been offended.
Arrogant and rude cashier. I'm assuming he's also the manger or owner for him to act the way he does. I inquired why the charge was more expensive than what was displayed on the menu board and he verbatim said, "It's only a dollar more, why are you complaining? No one else says anything! " I will update it later. "
The menu had been this way for sometime. Next time you are behind on updating the menu prices, acknowledge the error and don't get angry at the customer. What a joke. Do you think you're the soup N@zi from Seinfeld lol?
I once wrote a truthful review of how little meat you get here but I have to say the service has improved a whole lot. I believe they listened to what people are saying and for over 2 months now, they have consistently made up for previous lapses. The meat portions are now good and the guys are more friendly than before. The guy who impresses me most used to work at Zeytounia on Dundas street before but they are all very nice guys here in general. Hopefully, they will keep up the good work. Thanks guys!
We used to come a lot to this amazing location. They had an amazing Brazilian girl. The food is still good but the service is very awful now. They don't understand what you want and they blame you for that. You say to them no sauce they put sauce you said them to stop they say you asked for it.the both staff today were super rude, and took forever to count the chance.
The only problem i have is that depending on how busy it is the wait time for the food, but compared to mcds or any other fast food restaurant it’s excellent service and great quality, mood lifting place cool vibes when i eat in! Thanks for amazing service!
Love this place and everything about it the first shawarma place I tried in toronto and the best I tried other spots but sometimes the garlic sauce doesn't taste right or the tahini is to watery I got a chicken shawarma here and till now it's the best spot I've been in.
Ali babas finest location, i always enjoy the food nd the amazing customer service thats always provided, prices are pretty good for downtown the music is alway playing nice tunes and i love going there. If you havnt tried it you definitely should go get a good taste of middle eastern foods, this exact location was on 6ixbuz for the best shawarma spot in the city
Great flavours! Was a Favourite when I come to Tee Oh. But as I visit in 6 month intervals, I see changes. Prices are up, $1 a plate but portions smaller. Also seemed busier. Always the case, with a steady following comes the fall, either in portion size, or increased price or both. But did they downsize the meat portion to keep the 2 rotisserie's meat cooked for more patrons?
While the price is good ($9.50 for wrap, fries and pop), there's literally almost no chicken in the wrap. And to make it worse there's a limit of 2 toppings in the wrap. For $1.50 extra you can get the same meal with much more chicken and unlimited toppings at Revolution Shawarma.
Had food poisining from the previous day, ate this delicious life blood of a food and felt so very much better. I love you Ali babas thank you so very much.
First time trying chicken and beef shawarma. The are on the smaller size and potentially toppings could be more. However, it seemed clean. There was also friendly service from manager/owner. Price reasonable for shawarma range, definitely affordable at downtown comparison.
Fantastic place, for a quick bite amazing customer service is one of the best I’ve received in downtown Toronto. I recommend the crazy wrap it’s a delicious wrap with fries and a drink and it gets cut up into small bites with some of there homemade sauce it’s really something you should try!
This place is by far the best shawarma place on Yonge street. Their food portions are just amazing along with the amazing food such great staff. Jacob and Ali do an amazing job satisfying customers and always greet u with a smile. If your hungry. Your new to the city or just want to try some amazing dishes. 357 yonge street is the place! Check out their amazing menu.
I have visited this location numerous times because of its central location (around the corner from the Ryerson University Student Centre and 5 minutes from Yonge-Dundas Square and Eaton Centre) ; its delicious food, generous servings and efficient service. There is often a line here but don't be discouraged as the food is worth the wait.
I'm not even sure how people are raving about this palace. I suppose it is because they are already used to being stiffed at food places already. Long on talk and showmanship, short on beef and chicken in your order. You can almost count the few chicken/beef pieces which they purposely turn their backs so as to hide the sparse quantity when dishing it out. Very quickly, the smother the small fare with hot sauce etc to mask the discouraging portion. Last time I went, I felt cheated of my my hard earned money. The only way not to be cheated is to order the chicken part for at least they will not be able to stiff you on that hopefully!
The customer service at Ali Baba is amazing! The staff is very friendly and is always welcoming. The music and atmosphere is great! Thank you everyone at Ali Baba for always making my lunch great
