A huge variety of tropical plants. Great place to enjoy some nature especially in the cold time of year.
03 November 2023 0:34
Great place for plants and gardening lovers, the place has dozens of different plants and trees, it has a beautiful calm small garden for turtles, it is totally free to visit the place and there's staff there. It is a nice place to visit from time to time to enjoy the greens
02 November 2023 23:32
Great little stop off it's partly closed so didn't see it all. It's a shame it's next to a homeless camp
02 November 2023 3:06
Lovely green space in the city.
They are repairing some of the buildings but most plants are still accessible.
15 September 2023 8:49
It's smaller than I expected, but I enjoy strolling in gardens no matter the size and quantity of flowers. If you're looking for a little spot to unwind, this place is great!
10 September 2023 5:54
I love the flower arrangements. They change every season. It is always fun to walk around in an everchanging greenhouse. Great for the family, great for a date.
27 August 2023 3:05
Really loved this little gem, I wasn't really expecting much going in but was very shocked that this was entirely free and welcoming atmosphere
21 July 2023 11:53
New to Toronto city and had found this place interesting from internet and reviews. However, when arrived there what a huge disappointment. Crowded homeless, no public washroom, the main building is closed so nothing is to be expected.

Such a treasure! The plants, the architecture, the turtles and Koi and, oh yeah - NO admission! Take a break from your busy day and unwind in this beautiful indoor botanical conservatory surrounded by a public park. Allan Gardens fills almost the entire block from Carlton to Gerrard between Jarvis and Sherbourne. Outside there is a playground and a dog off-leash area, lots of mature trees and perfect picnic spots. Inside the conservatory, you'll find plants from all over the world, in several separate greenhouses. Some areas are replanted throughout the year. Right now, a whole section is devoted to chrysanthemums of all shapes and colours. Spectacular!
The central iron and glass structure known as the Palm House dates to 1910 (1909?) and is currently undergoing renovations. It is still accessible but most of the plants have been removed for now. I believe the conservatory is open all year but it's best to check the city's website, before you go - toronto.ca and search Allen Gardens. Enjoy!

Pretty gardens to walk around with a variety of flowers. As they have indoor hot houses, great for winter if you need to see some greenery
30 November 2022 16:52
Beautifully kept! I loved the succulent and cacti gardens. Some truly impressive specimens here.
14 November 2022 22:14
I wanna visit because of a book Cabbagetown Diary. Didn’t see the garden as it was under construction. Instead saw many camps and a funeral ceremony which I believe is for a black guys died prematurely.
06 November 2022 13:42
Large variety of flowers, usually has a theme to which flowers are arranged in certain shapes or make certain figures
30 October 2022 17:51
On thanks giving day me and my kids went to Allan gardens we enjoyed a lot inside taking pictures It was totally free to enter what ever weather outside we feel good summer time inside
25 October 2022 11:27
Nice botanic gardens. Very well kept, good selection of plants. Worth a visit if you’ve exhausted the rest of your itinerary. I wouldn’t prioritize it too much. Took me ~30 min to walk through and take some photos. This attraction is FREE!
22 October 2022 17:38
Was really nice, quite warm (it's a green house so makes sense). Didn't cost a thing, was totally FREE!
The gardens have three halls.
The walking path is not always wide and accessible, and there is only one bench to sit on (in the farthest garden).
The vegetation in the garden is diverse and presented in a nice way.
There are also turtles!
Really loved it
16 October 2022 6:34
Nice dog park with a fountain, small dog dedicated area, and decent seating. The city is actually in the process of upgrading the ground in the dog park.

The gardens are relatively small (It is right downtown after-all), but beautiful, nonetheless. Lots of open space and healthy grass.

Only real negative is some people come to the park to drink and people are accosted. I would suggest those more vulnerable among us avoid the park at night unless in a group.
11 June 2022 22:04
Any time of year is a delight. Clearly during grey cold winter, the indoor gardens, delivers an experience of color, calm and natural beauty! Everyone, of any age, can enjoy these gardens.
08 June 2022 5:50
This is such a beautiful place during the spring! This Greenhouse has splendid plant species, some of them I didn’t even know before. There are so different interesting passageways to explore and I especially prefer the one with turtles!?
24 January 2022 13:31
There's all sorts of stunning thriving plants here, can't believe admission is free! We came within the last 15 mins of them closing on a Saturday so there were not that many people. We had to wear masks at all times inside due to the pandemic. Anyway it's just so pretty, no wonder igers love it!
17 January 2022 5:27
Free admission to escape from the city to the world of plants! Wish, they do sell some of the plants. Turtle pond and fish pond are very attractive.
05 January 2022 22:58
If you love rhipsalis/epiphytic cactus, this is a must visit. The greenhouse has a great collection of rhipsalis and some hoyas. Beautiful architectural structure. We went during the winter and were glad to see plants that were healthy and green.
29 December 2021 23:54
I had the kids on for the weekend do made it a porpoise to take them somewhere different, they love in Scarborough. They enjoyed the completely of the of greenery and exotic plants housed their but what really set it off was the Tuttle display.
There were many of them which gave us a slight impression on how whey would live naturally in the wild. That was a lot of turtles!
Great for the kids on a sundays afternoon and to top it off they had s ball and met a few new friends at the park located directly as you exit their garden and did not cost us a dime.

I brought them back two times since then, they truly enjoy it and i am grateful for there to be something so close where o can easley pass away a half a day that is free.

Thank you Toronto's Parks and Rec.
29 December 2021 8:18
Beautiful gardens, it's so relaxing inside the greenhouse that I could spend and hour there every time, just smelling flowers, taking photos, and watching turtles.
29 December 2021 0:50
Always a pieceful place to view lovely and exotic plants and flowers and a great goldfish pond. Our grandson loves it, and the playground behind the main building.
23 December 2021 10:17
Beautiful and quiet place; has no chair to sit down, takes about 45 minutes to finish walking around.
19 December 2021 20:10
A beautiful little getaway in the middle of the city If you’re a plant lover, need a new scenery, or your just looking for something new to see in the City, I highly recommend visiting this conservatory.
15 December 2021 9:20
Toujours de magnifiques fleurs, que l'on peut voir malgré les travaux de réaménagement de la serre
13 December 2021 5:41

11 December 2021 23:33
Allan Gardens offer much diversity ranging from splendid buildings over playgrounds to relaxed spots for picnics. It's a beautiful haven of nature in downtown Toronto. Some parts of the gardens could however benefit from some cleaning.
11 December 2021 23:23
Beauftiful place to take pictures of plants and flowers.

Is normally pretty busy as it is downtown
07 December 2021 19:50
Amazing variety of plants but some are repetitive. The maintenance is pretty good and the place is very and walkable. There are a few aquatic animals too.
27 November 2021 7:58
A quaint lil nature's bounty. Beautiful collection of vegetation, flowers and so well maintained.
25 November 2021 2:05
One of my favorite places to go to in the city. It’s free which is a plus. It only takes around 5-10 minutes to walk through the whole garden. The arrangements of flowers and plants are so gorgeous. Definitely would recommend. 10/10
15 November 2021 8:24
Absolutely amazing. I was thrilled to finally get inside thank you so much for the experience. Made my trip unforgettable.
08 November 2021 9:17
Beautiful oasis in the city to spend a little quiet time in. So nice to see lushness even in the darker, colder months. There’s also a few turtles and fish to watch!
27 October 2021 10:10
Every Thursday there's a native drumming group at like 11: 00 to about 1: 00 everyone's welcome that's beautiful they feed the homeless or after we're done and like most of the homeless people know that it's happening so they'll come over and yeah they'll get a sandwich and drink snack and then whatever is left they'll find other people to give it to
22 October 2021 17:17
I enjoyed visiting Allen Gardens. The staff are friendly, helpful, and polite.

They have a good variety of plants including orchids, cacti, succulents, alocasias and much more. I loved getting the chance to see my favourite houseplants in their mature form. They also have a koi pond and turtle pond.
17 October 2021 9:37
A nice one way walk since its reopening and such a relaxing place to just look at the array of plantings. Turtles and fish too!
07 October 2021 23:56
Such a gem in the heart of City! The Allan Gardens are a lovely green place. It's a great area in the city to get in contact with a little bit of nature, and it's free to enter!
The place is quiet in the mornings and till midday, unless there are some rowdy folks around! Perfect spot on a few benches to sit and read, or walk slowly through and enjoy the greenery.
01 October 2021 20:01
Beautiful oasis in the middle of Toronto. Flowers are beautiful and kids enjoyed counting turtles. Even found flies in "Venus fly traps"
24 September 2021 22:45
I love this place. However! I went there on Aug 26,2021, only to discover that the beautiful garden inside had all but disappeared, the building closed for construction. There really should be an update here about that but I don’t see anything. Be advised, Allan Gardens is currently closed!
25 March 2021 19:32
Around the holidays my family and I love to make a big pot of turtle soup, but we find live turtles to be pricey at the Chinatown markets these days. Allan Gardens has live turtles for free! Can't get any fresher or cheaper than that!
09 March 2021 4:23
Good place to visist if you want to enjoy a good time around nature with a huge variety of plant and flower from all over the world just beatiful
06 February 2021 20:27
At the corner of Sherbourne Street and Carlton street nestled in a beautiful garden is this conservatory. Full of tropical plants, cactus and succulents, its an oasis in downtown Toronto. All round the year the garden gets a new decor according to various themes like Mums festival. Spring/ Easter, Holiday spirit and decor. Backed by an army of volunteer, the garden organizes various evens for children. All through summer the children’s corner is buzzing with activities. Must visit if you are in the area. Check the pics taken during the Christmas time. Most beautiful and serene.
01 January 2021 2:37
The place is so serene and beautiful especially with the fall colors. Lots of space between the few people enjoying the warm weather spell, many use the park to cross the block too enjoying nature for a short few minutes while they get to the other side. Apart from the gathering of elderly people with their beer cans everything else was quiet and orderly

Indoor Garden in Toronto, free entry to walk around indoor beautiful kept garden. Great for photoshoot for photographer. This was wedding venue for my client aswell. Good place to bring the kids aswell. Parking is paid. Beautiful outside too.
21 February 2019 10:27
Great place to visit regularly as a family or bring out of town guests. It's free, open 365 days and has the most beautiful plants to enjoy in a conservatory in downtown Toronto.
18 February 2019 6:48
Beautiful place loved looking at all the different plants and flowers. The floral themes were very well made. A must see for people who are interested in plants and gardening.
08 February 2019 3:56
The place would be wonderful except for the very aggressive staff. They confront you and attack you verbally for taking pictures, or just standing there. The staff creates a very bad atmosphere that ruined our visit there. One of them told me they had to be that way to save their jobs. It is very uncomfortable to be treated as a criminal for just taking pictures of plants. Don't go if you want a peaceful experience.
08 February 2019 0:12
I went here for the Winter Flower Show. I was impressed with the floral displays and decorations. There are benches throughout the conservatory to sit on. Although this place is technically accessible, a wheelchair would be hard to push through here. The washrooms were very clean. This place is worth a visit. It's free and so is the parking.
07 February 2019 23:20
Sat on a bench there and then struck up a conversation with the guys beside me. Turns out they were there with the guy who's name was on the bench. Amazing place.
31 January 2019 2:50
Such a lovely and picturesque spot! I love visiting gardens but hate the cold so this is a great place to go during the fall/winter months. The Christmas decorations they put up are also really beautiful. The walkways are a little cramped but there usually aren’t so many people when I go so it hasn’t been a problem. There were very kind staff going around answering any questions people had about the plants (I’m not sure if this is a new thing because there weren’t any the last time I went but I thought it was nice). Also there are turtles! Definitely one of my favourite places in the downtown core!
28 January 2019 12:46
Always a treat to visit Allan Gardens. The Winter Flower Show is on at the moment and I enjoyed the holiday decor and flowers. Some days they had extended hours so patrons can enjoy candlelit Allan Gardens after sunset.
23 January 2019 11:27
Very beautiful, feels good when you walked in an indoor botanical garden during the winter when its dry and cold outside. Its like entering to another world!
16 January 2019 7:55
Nice park with a conservatory, good place to stop at if your visiting during the cold months to warm up and view flowers and a variety of plants. I'm sure the outside grounds are beautiful in the summer.
04 January 2019 17:39
Love this place! The gardens are beautiful and lovely place to go no matter the weather. It doesn't take long to go through them though, expect to spend 20-30 minutes here if you like plants, more if you really really like plants.
04 January 2019 16:37
A well maintained garden conservatory, beautiful, and a source of education and relaxation, plus it's free to everyone. There's also an outdoor playground next to it.
04 January 2019 12:19
Great place to go to spend some time with nature. A number of different habitats and is very kid-friendly.

Limited parking is available but there aren't many spots.
04 January 2019 6:44
It's a beautiful place to spend time (alone or with others) admiring nature. The front part of the conservatory has a few benches for you to sit down. The indoor garden has six sections, each housing plants of different temperatures. Worth checking out if you want a quick stroll indoors
29 December 2018 1:07
This place is amazing. A good way to spend a cold winter day looking at cacti, orchids, and a lot of green plants when all else is bare and grey. Free admission. Public washrooms. Easy walk from Yonge subway line. Streetcar rolls by frequently. Off-leash dog park here as well. Really nice kids playground out back. Some unsavoury types can be in the area. This park is a lot safer than it was 20 years ago.
27 December 2018 5:42
Great, free, indoor place to visit in Toronto. Love the lush plants here and all the beautiful colors. A great backdrop for photo shoots as well. Definitely worth a visit if you are a plant lover! There is lots to explore!
06 December 2018 3:44
We enjoyed visiting the gardens on a weekend when it wasn't busy. The variety of plants was terrific. The orchids were enchanting. Locals were enjoying the benches and warmth. More signage would be appreciated but the price was right. Free.
18 November 2018 4:19
Love the arrangements of flowers here. There are lots of exotic plants with beautiful colours. You'll get to see pretty fountains and assorted cactuses too. The exterior of the greenhouse was decorated beautifully. It was a bit smaller than I expected, but I got lots of great pics here.
