Incredibly disappointed in this location!
My grandmother had staff from location come into her home and help her plan for her new kitchen. She paid her deposit happily and when they came back to do it the bill was much higher as the person who had told her what the price was, was no longer with the company so they do not have to honor it.
Furthermore, after all was said and done the faucet has now broken (under lifetime warranty) and they refuse to cover it as the price has now changed at their location and are demanding the difference be paid. The whole idea of a lifetime warranty is that you are covered when it breaks. Apparently not here. This family will no longer be shopping at this store.

It is difficult to do business during the pandemic however my experience here was very disappointing. We like to shop local so I prepared my order online for pickup at my local store in Alliston. I also called in a second order. So when I arrived the staff were friendly and I proceeded to pick up my online order and pay for my called in order. This seemingly went well. When some drain pipe was loaded I didn't notice the difference between that I had ordered and the one I picked up. It appears I was given the wrong pipe. So I agreed to pay the difference because the nice clerk said the one I had loaded was better. The problem is their computer system cannot allow this. No problem, I just paid for the pipe that I had loaded and they said that some other company (Kibo) has to return my money. After that I brought my orders home I realized the replacement screen that I had ordered was a substitute from the one I wanted on the website. Another Pandemic rule was that there are no returns. So here is my advice for you if you need to use this establishment (after I lost at least $57 and possibly $145 (Kibo has yet to respond to my claim) :
1. Phone in or email orders only.
2. Check your order before you pay.
3. If staff assists you with loading ensure you are receiving what you had ordered.
The staff are friendly however the full customer experience is much to be desired.

Update September 24,2023: so when you return trim pieces you bring it to the customer service counter. The challenge is when you enter with 8' lengths the gate stops and you get hurt with he sudden stop. These anti theft gates are a real health hazard

The store really needs help. The manager Thomas Coiler is terrible to deal with.
There was a miscommunication at the order desk. We both did not understand each other at the time of order and the wrong material was cut. I spent 20 mins trying to get my money back until I eventually lost my cool and swore. The manager and assistant manager turned it around and made me the bad guy for trying to get my 30 dollars back.
They have an off cut section so it wasn’t scrap. It wasn’t the 30 dollars but the principal of the situation. Every time I go there the wood quality is terrible and the order desk always makes mistakes. I have a big issue with the manager Thomas. He made a huge scene in the store that was very embarrassing. No apologies and when I asked to see him when I left to straighten things out he was too busy I guess. Bottom line…. Go to Home Depot in Bolton you’ll have more success.

Had a bunch of window and door screens redone 6 out of 9 would not fit after being done. Screens were to tight try to say it was my fault to them back to fix them worse than the first time not wasting my time thank for stealing my $200 dollars worst home hardware try to help local just bad bad service thanks for nothing. And to top it all off notice 1 screen had a small cut init they don't care about there customer's notice the cut when I was installing it should of gone somewhere else and got it done right the first time.

inventory is not accurate making yard employees look bad that they cant find the products and its because they are in the inventory but there is no product.

They sell Number 2 lumber for number 3 prices and there is nothing above number 2 from NLGA.

Dont provide the workers any training.they dont provide ANY PPE for the yard staff.yard staff are changing LP GAS cylinders on fork trucks with no certs as per ontario law!

there is huge employee discrimination racial jokes etc towards employees / truck drivers delivering lumber / customers

No MSDS at all not for chemicals not for LP gas not for diesel nothing they dont exsist in this place.fires workers for theatning to call MOL as per their rights as a worker.they dont pay OT after 44 hrs as per canadian labour laws.and this is why the yard staff tell you they dont know where anything is or dont have the know howof what products are new hires are trying to help next weeks new hires i will be posting photos of unsafe work amongst other things like racial slurs caught on recordings etc worst home hardware in ON hands down!

It was my first time visiting Alliston’s Home Hardware. Our experience was very pleasant. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The store looked clean full and the cashier a young gentleman was a gem. We will definitely return in the future.

We decided to buy plant holders. We wore looking everywhere and found in Alliston which far away.
We checked website which showed 13 in stock, called with statement from receptionist 13 in stoke, but when we went to store item not available because they don't know or even bother to check if it's available.
I think that HH should find the people who wants to work if it doesn't cancel this position because it's anyway doesn't work or even worse is misleading people to spend time for nothing.

Mixed the wrong colours in to my paint and then blamed me for not noticing it was different. The ladies at the counter did not even check that it matched one of the 5 standard colours. Home hardware Tottenham even confirmed for me that they made a mistake. Not even an apology. Won’t be back.

My experience at alliston home hardware was spectacular.i visited the clearance tent for the first time, and yet very overwhelming with products, the employee maddy eased my shopping struggles with her pleasurable customer service and over conversation skills.made me feel welcomed and cared for.i will definitely be back!

Very clean place and friendly people. Wanted to know if there was concrete in stock and was directed to the pro desk. As I approached a gentleman was walking away and turned back and seemed perturbed that I was there. While asking for the concrete I was looking for the gentleman gave attitude as I said I need 4 or 5 bags, to which his reply was "well in need to know which is it? " After saying 5 he replied after a few seconds of pounding the keyboard I don't have any. Not sure what the difference was in knowing if I need 4 or 5. Hopefully the next visit goes better.

I'll be coming back to this store just for Lloyd. He was truly the greatest help, and extraordinary personable. Superior to most customer service I've ever talked to in my life.

I'm done shopping at this location! They're system is never correct more then a dozen times now I've either check there stock on line or called to confirm, then drive 40 minutes to find out there system is wrong and they don't have what I need.for a newly built store there inventory system should not be this bad! Go else where, preferably home depot, there prices are much better and the inventory seems to be much more accurate!

Not worth the one star but unfortunately the lowest that can be given.
Tried to order material but they would not work to get it done. Seemed like all they wanted to do is get back to sitting around and doing nothing.

EASILY the worst run store during covid I have EVER dealt with. Their orders take FOREVER. Canadian Tire has it worked out well where I get my stuff 3 hours later. This home hardware takes at the very minimum multiple days. Usually anywhere from 4-12 days for one thing. I will not be supporting this store any longer. Management should be fired.

Easily the worst store to shop at during COVID.waited over a week for my item (that was in stock) to get a call saying ready for pickup.i tried to call MULTIPLE times over a few days span and never got a answer.i left a message on their machine and emailed them trying to cancel my order.never got a response.either hire more ppl or stop taking on more orders than you can handle.go to canadian tire if you can! You'll get your order within a day or 2

This is a very frustrating store to deal with during covid19. The website is not user friendly and trying to get through to order something is pretty terrible in itself. Also, I did finally get through after days of trying and place an order - that was 5 to 6 days ago and it still is not ready.

I was here during the Lockdown, so I couldn't actually get in. I did find the they had a very smooth drive-through, contactless operation going on during this time, though. Staff were very friendly.

Ordered a product on April 24th. Said it would take 2-15 days, no problem. Have called twice over the last week and a half, left voicemails, and no return call or email giving me an update on my $1000+ order. Understand it can take longer then the expectation given, but it would be nice to be kept up to date. You're responding to people's reviews and asking them to call, yet nobody answers the phones or returns calls.

Totally unhelpful, worst home hardware location, order some plumbing components from the home hardware. Called them in the afternoon, no help what so ever then transferred me to a deadline. Definitely not shopping here anymore

Staff was very helpful when I bought the wrong item. The poor girl who processed my return had so many computer issues, when she would type it would type so slow, and we waited like 3 minutes for it to catch up. Felt so bad for her. I understand what was happening, but it might make the store look bad to someone else

This locally owned and operated Home Hardware is a good mix of essential building supplies and home decor items. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.when I asked for help finding a product i was not only told where it was, but how many would be there and when a restock could be expected.the same question at other retailers is so often a waste of time I don't even bother asking.

Would not recommend this place to anyone, after ordering all my lumber to build my deck, paid for it up front and delivery. Three days later I go in the store and they said they did not have part of my order and that they must of sold it. And then there debit machine would not refund the money. So I took days off work, have a crew coming in and out a deposit on a garbage bin. Management says sorry.don't sell the product if someone has already purchased it

This is twice now I have gone to them for quotes on renos. Drawing of covered porch.a month later nothing. "software issues and vacations" I am sorry but this is so wrong. Such poor service. Will call you tomorrow with an update and weeks go by. EDIT ***And to the person recomending I speak to the Manager Thomas. I did.weeks ago. No difference in service

It is a clean and very large store. Largest selection of power tools in the surrounding area by far. Amazing staff, pleasure to shop there.

Phoned a day ahead to book a rental of the Attic Cat insulation blower, we were told not to book it just come in next day (Sunday) and pick it up, so we went in the morning and waited for the guy at the rental desk who barked at us that they "do not rent on Sundays" and go to the service desk for the attic Cat. The lady there told us to come back Monday as she did not know how to do rentals, when we told her we had set aside this day for the job she reluctantly rented the unit to us which was supposed to be a free rental when you buy the attic cat insulation, but we didn't argue because it was only $35.for the day. The machine did work great, I'll give them that much but returning it was confusing as well, there is no system in place with these guys. Anyways we dropped $1200.with them and felt like we we treated as an inconvenience. Bottom line is, until they get some experience working the service desk, do not rent from HH in Alliston.

Thomas has such amazing customer service skills. After my husband had a miscommunication from staff he quickly resolved the issue and went above and beyond to make things happen. This store is so lucky to have thomas as a manager, he represents the store well and should be commened for all his efforts and excellent customer service! Thank u thomas for all your help! We love to support local and because of thomas we will continue to make homehardware Aliston our go to.

Great service today! The staff were really friendly and answered all of my questions. If there was something I couldn't find, there was always someone there to help me. If they didn't know the answer themselves they knew who to ask to get my question answered quickly.
I felt safe right when I went in! The greeter was wearing a mask and provided hand-sanitizer, there were stickers all over the floor to encourage social distancing, and the cashiers were quick getting people through so I didn't have to wait long.

Very disappointing experience yesterday! I contacted Alliston Home Hardware via email regarding a planter box I was looking for. Jon responded promptly and confirmed stock availability. I told Jon I would be there in an hour as I was travelling from 1 hour away. Jon contacted me 10 minutes before my arrival to inform me that he didn't have stock. I wasn't impressed wasting my time and gas because someone failed to properly do their job. My suggestion, do a physical inventory check if you know your systems aren't always up to date, especially if you know someone is travelling the distance. Thanks Alliston Home Hardware!

Confusing to rent from, and nobody there is on the same page. Rented atticat machine from them, and the entire process was terrible. I call prior to try and book the machine for a Sunday, and after a 35 minute phone call and three transfers, I’m told they don’t book rentals ahead of time and just to come in Sunday. I was also told that 10 bags or more the rental of the machine is free for a day.

I show up Sunday and the rental desk tells me they don’t do rentals sundays, and also says the rental desk doesn’t handle atticat rentals (makes lots of sense doesn’t it), and sends me to service desk. Service desk employee is snarky and tells me to come back Monday, despite me saying I called ahead and was told to come here. Eventually let me rent it, but then when I mentioned the 10+ bag and free deal that they offered on the phone (FYI Home Depot offers this and actually does it) I’m told no.okay then.

Machine worked great, whole process was good with the insulation. But returning the machine was just as confusing as renting it. Everybody there had no idea what to do and wasn’t on the same page, and it took far longer than necessary.

Don’t rent from here until they learn how to do rentals. Home Depot will do a better job with that.

Stood in line for 35 minutes to be told once I got to the front that water is not essential and I cant fill up my jugs. Seems to me like you guys dont care about people and their needs and are only looking at your bottom line. You have water listed at a low price to entice people into the store but now since you have the aisles closed, there isnt much money it in. You should be ashamed of yourself for turning off your water to families in need of it but instead selling screws for marked up prices.

Good place to shop except closes at 6 on sat.same as every hardware store in alliston! (tsc, canadian tire) stay open till 8 on Saturday and you would get all the business in alliston.off to home depot in the NEXT TOWN

If I could give 10 stars I would! This is the best HH anywhere! They always have what I need, and if for some strange reason they don’t, they’ll find a way to get it for me. I have done a lot of home reno projects, and the people on the contractor and service desks know so much! I always get great advice and they take the time to help me figure out my problems. I don’t know what I’d do without my Home Hardware gang!

The lack of experience at the hardware desk when your ordering material baffles me. They do not train there employees well enough to know the difference between the products they sell. Too many times I've gone in to wait in line again and change the invoice because it wasn't at all what i had asked for. The manager needs to put more time in and train the employees on knowledge material.

Worst store I have been too. On 4 separate occasions I have called to see if they had items in stock. They had confirmed it was but when I drove the 20 minutes to get there they could not locate it. The last time was to buy some pavers for my walkway. They claimed over the phone that they had 44 on site. When I got there they only had 1. What a waste of time. I spoke to Chris (one of the managers) and he promised to get back to me within a couple of days. It's been a week now and I have not heard back from anyone. The lumber yard is a complete disaster. There is absolutely no inventory control. They have no clue what they have in there. One of the yard attendants even admitted to me that they would never purchase anything there because of the disarray. I am all for supporting local businesses but when you can't support your customers with a simple phone call then you have no right to complain when the big box stores drive you out of business. Can't wait to hear the response from them now! Will probably tell me they misplaced my number.

Asked 3 people to get a price in patio slab pavers, no one could help me. Went to the service desk and waited 20 minutes (was next in line for that long) and the woman behind the counter was just hanging out and didn't offer any help. No one greeted me when I walked in, when I left the there were no lines at the cash registers, the women there didn't offer any help or say bye. Needless to say it was not a pleasant experience and I'll be looking elsewhere for my patio needs and future project needs.

I just received the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE from 2 gentleman (Casey & Mark). I recently purchased a home in Alliston and I have begun customizing my deck and outdoor features. Casey was able to explain to me in depth options available to me and I was beyond happy with his suggestions. It's nice to have a friendly local home hardware to visit where I can joke around with Casey & Mark but know I am getting great knowledge, excellent products and solid service. I will be back soon! 5+ STARS!

Hello! I just wanted to take a moment to thank your employees! We came in on Saturday June 1st to purchase a few small items. We found there was a great sale on patio furniture and ended up puts basing a set. The staff was FANTASTIC with giving recommendations and trying to determine if we could fit the set in our car as the purchase was unexpected. They worked with a few team members to try and fit into our vehicle. The first set we brought was damaged after we opened it and he was super helpful with getting that replaced with a perfect condition set. After all the lifting and moving we couldn’t get it nicely into the car. So your team repacked and arranged for shipping. We had a great experience and could not have been happier when we came home Tuesday and the box was nicely delivered to our backyard! Thank you so much Alliston Home Hardware! You’re customer service was amazing.

We had the opportunity to make a purchase at the Alliston store yesterday, as our local Home Hardware stores did not have the product that we wanted to purchased and it could not be ordered from the warehouse.
Michelle, a seasonal staff member, was the first person we had contact with. She was very professional, knowledgeable and went the extra mile to find the items that we wanted to purchase, as well, make a suggestion of appropriate "add ons" to compliment our purchase. When we arrived at the store we spoke with a few others of the customer service department who were fabulous in finishing up with us. But the great service didn't stop there, The service we received from the two men that helped load our items in our truck were also very helpful. We would highly recommend this store, their service was fabulous.

I like this location because of its size, lots of products and variety available. I had a really great experience with a nice woman in the paint department. She helped us match an existing wood stain perfectly from so many options. Would shop here again, still has that local feel to it, that's the best part about it.

My whole family loves shopping here. We’ve purchased everything from kitchenware to lumber. Staff are knowledgeable and eager to assist. Management goes above and beyond with helping in our community as well. Highly recommend!

This place has morphed into just another big box store over the past few years, selling and stocking what makes them money and not necessarily what you need today. Oh, they can order it. I need a hardware store to stock basic items like receptacles and fittings and such. Instead, it looks like a dollar store. Bins upon bins of junk clutter the floor. They should travel to Cookstown to see what a real hardware store looks like. Maybe you should too

One of the worst experiences.

I decided to support my local Home Hardware and go get my 24” colonial interior door from the new Alliston Home Hardware. All went well at the order desk and cashier, but this is when it all went down hill. I drove to the indoor yard and handed the person there my receipt, he took it and went away, 10 min later he came back empty handed, then he went to get someone else who went to look and again 10 min later he came back empty handed, they asked if I could show them what door it was so I got out of my car and went to look, when I got there it was only rows and rows of pre hung doors and that’s where they were looking, I told the second guy that I was bought just the door and these were not them, he then barked at me and said he was doing his best, it’s minus 16 outside and in this lumber yard. I then went back to my car and then was told to go deal with the guy who sold me the door. So I went back into the store only to be told by the order desk that I guess we don’t have any even though the computer shows 4 so I should just go get a refund. Over one hour passed and I was leaving empty handed and cold.

This day and age Home Hardware can’t get a simple inventory system to work? Or hire some people with basic customer service skills.

So much for trying to support local business, I drove to the closes Home Depot and picked up the door and even bought it for cheaper.
