I've been coming to Al Mac's for well over 10+ years, and the last couple of times, the quality has gone done a bit. The biggest problem that I have recently run into is the service.
The second last time I went there - I was with my wife and my. 2 year old daughter. We all went for the AYCE breakfast and we weren't requested to pay for my daughter even though she did eat.
The last time we went, we were required to pay for my daughter, who didn't really eat much at all as toddlers can be very finicky eaters. When I had asked the waiter why we were required to pay for her - he said they charge for kids. He spoke to his manager to remove it but she said no. She came to speak to us and said that they have too many kids that come in there and they never offer free food for kids. I tried to explain that the last time we were there, we weren't charged, but she did not seem to care.
I can understand if children a bit older than 2 or 3 would be required to pay as they will most likely eat more. But having not paid for her previously and then being charged and told it never happens is pretty confusing. When I asked the waiter where it is stated that kids at a certain age have to pay (which was $9.99 compared to adults paying $11.99) the waiter said the sign outside, which just states there is kids rates. I then asked him politely out of curiosity and to understand their policies, what age constitutes a kids price as most places offer free or even cheaper for toddlers, he said he doesn't know and the.just walked away with an attitude.
There was also another table behind us with one or two toddlers and an infant and they were not made away of this charge and were worried that they were going to be charged for the kids when they didn't actually eat anything.
In the end - it ended up costing about $50 for a breakfast that included my daughter eating a spoonful of scrambled eggs and 2 pieces of bacon, 2 AYCE's and 2 super small cups of orange juice (that cost almost $6 or $7 each).
It's sad to.see the quality of food and service dipping so much to.a place that's been a staple of every time I've been down to Niagara in the past 13 years.

I do not recommend it and I'm not going to return.

The sausage tasted like fried fat, no meat. Just crunchy shell, interior fat.

Was basically nonexistent. Had to wait to order coffee. Eye contact with the waitress did not work. Plates were left to pile up and not taken away until after I left.
No refill on my coffee, even when asked. Was acknowledged but no refill.
Atmosphere was good and just like I'd expect from a buffet. No issues there.

A really affordable option for breakfast or lunch. The staff was amazing and for the price the food was good.

Incredible place! Been here for 3 days in a row and never had the same things! Price is perfect and food is gooooddd!
