This is my favourite branch ever. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. I'm always greeted when I enter. The location is very convenient especially if you're taking TTC, it's right at the college station.

Terrible small business bank.

Avoid this financial institution at all costs. Terrible small business banking solutions with even worse customer service.

I interacted with the bank in relation to a previous workplace.
During that time I got very pleasant customer service & efficiency. I therefore recommend the bank.

Excellent staff, down to earth, always very helpful, friendly. So unlike “ backs “, that’s why I un-banked “ myself, 12 + yrs.ago & switched to Alterna Credit Union.
Sharon Morris is a gem, very compassionate, always helpful, very bright & practical. Thanks Sharon, for all your help, to me, through the years. You’re help is invaluable. ️

I'm never sure recently whether I am in the same credit union I belong to. There are only a few people I recognize and the interior seems to be changing all the time. The last visit during covid19 limited entry at the door. This is a good sign. Let's see what happens next. I thought the bank was owned by all its share holders. Why are the responses headed (Owner)

I've been a member for almost 40 years since they were at TGH and I've always received exemplary customer service.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid I have to agree with some of the previous posts: they do not call you back when they promise to do so. Not a good sign for a financial institution.

I have waited 14 business days and two weekends to get a response from TD Canada Trust. My investigating crew at Ottawa AND 800 Bay STREET AFTER PROMISING That I would get my money back in less than 4 business days. I6 DAYS A GO I WAS AT UNION StatIon. I MADE 2 TRANSACTIONS AMOUNTING TO 408 DOLLARS. Both times the Td machine came up with two debits amounting to 408 dollars in which the machine debited my account and gave me no money, from the sorter of the machine. I left two letters about the polemic in the TD Canada Bank lounge of UNION STATION It has been 16 days and TD Canada Trust have not even called my representatives Andrew and DECLAN CRANLEY AT ALTERNA. It is all documented and on camera at Union station. I know they put in 15004 dollars every other week. What does it take for a service rep to check the machine and see that it is 408 dollars in supply.over there annual 15 004 dollars in the sorter. I am ready to take legal action to get my money quickly back into my Alterna account. I am very suspicious of these machines. LETS HOPE IT IS RESOLVED BEFORE i GET A RESPONSE FROM TD and Alterna. During my years banking with Alterna I didn't find them to be very helpful. I was never contacted by email and given advise or educational tips that would help improve my overall banking experience. They never helped me build credit either. I felt very ignored by them. That's why I'm only giving a two star rating.

Alterna is an excellent bank. The staff provide excellent service in person and by phone. Unfortunately, aspects of their management and their cheque ordering system need to be improved.

The staff members are helpful. But, I was amazed that one day I got a phone message saying that my signature card is lost / misplaced and I was asked to go to the bank to sign again!

If I were able to give negative stars on this site, Alterna would be getting at least minus 10. New homebuyers were to get a mortgage from Alterna for which they were pre-approved. On the afternoon before the closing date, it was discovered that the application paperwork sat on someone's desk for 6 weeks and NOTHING had been done! When advised of this, the mortgage banker, who had been on vacation, claimed they couldn't possibly get the mortgage approved for the next day. The repercussions of their incompetence affected at least 4 parties. I would NEVER recommend them for any banking.

The service at the counter is very slow. We need to wait atleast 10 minutes even though there is no line up. Some of the tellers don't even greet us. The customer service needs improvement.

I booked an appointment over the phone. When I came in there was no appointment booked so I booked another in person for 4 days later.
I was supposed to get a call before my appointment to let me know If my ID was acceptable to even set up an account there. I did get a message on the weekend but it was 10 seconds of silence. Came in and there was a note saying I didn't have the required items to open an account.
Went across the street and got an account at BMO which took 30 MINUTES.

I left a voicemail a week ago and it seems the previous reviews were correct, no one is interested in returning my call. My services will go to another bank.

I love Alterna and have been their client for some time. Their in person service is stellar and very helpful. Their hours of operation are decent and their offer of financial products decent. What really is slow and painful is using their online and mobile app. I've reported this to them several times and unfortunately it hasn't been fixed yet. Often i cannot do my online or mobile banking. Especially when i need it most. Please fix it!
