Alternate Grounds Dockside

The view is beautiful, but the windows definitely need cleaning. The food was okay, nothing special. The staff was extremely nice!

Had an amazing dinner here with my wife and daughter. Staff was friendly and service was quick but not too quick where it felt rushed (we were there late evening) The menu has lots of unique selections. Lobster Roll was fantastic and so was the mac and cheese. The restaurant has a great Marina feel to it as well. Blankets on the patio was a huge bonus for the girls! Thank you!

Everything about this place is stellar! Wonderful selection of local beer. The fish tacos were the best I’ve ever had! My husband said the Cuban was amazing.

We enjoyed everything about our first visit. The music was alot of 90's songs, which I loved. It was great to see the servers were enjoying the music as much as I was, cause some were singing along. All the food was so tasty. Mom, who usually has leftovers, gobbled up her crab cakes before my daughter and I were half done our choices. Mine was a beef dip sandwich. My daughter had a huge chicken sandwich. To top off our lunch we ordered a brownie, not expecting it to be as enormous as it was! Between the 3 of us we had a hard time finishing it. Definitely going to be visiting Dockside again. Oh and there's the nice patio to sit on the water. No better way to spend a gorgeous summer day.

I was told there was an hour wait for the patio, yet they continued to seat people on the patio after we were seated inside. My lobster roll was served on a hotdog bun! Very disappointing! Will not be going back.

Waitress admitted to ordering my food wrong… did not offer complimentary beverage while all my party ate and I sat empty handed…my pulled pork and ham sandwich was served on a very flat bun…with no bbq sauce.which I had to ask for and was charged for it… at the end I did have to ask for an adjustment on the bill … manager took 10$ off… needless to say I won’t be going back… that was my first visit…

Our experience was amazing! Our order was mixed up. But the chef and staff stepped up and fixed everything. All staff where amazing. The food also was so delicious. We will definitely recommend Alternate Grounds Dockside.

The food was bland at best, except for the summer berry salad, albeit expensive.
Drinks were good, nothing special.
The tables were moldy and really gross. Yellow-jackets everywhere with no bee traps, and flags slapping us in the face with bird poop on them. Tried to move them but they kept flapping back. Somewhat seeing the water was ok, our view was limited if we had any, while sitting outside.
Our server was pretty quick, and very friendly.
We just won't be back, not worth it.

Wonderful food and wonderful service. Fish tacos and fish and chips were great. Beers, Cesar and mule were handcrafted. The people who work there make it even better!

The food was ok. Nothing special. The service was good. Great views from the front room but was quite loud.

Went here for a nice dinner with some friends as we were staying in Sarnia for a night. This restaurant has great dockside views of the harbour where people park their private motor boats.
The service was prompt and friendly, I got the Ruben sandwich that comes with fries and a choice of gravy or cheese sauce.
Portion sizes were HUGE! The sandwich contained smoked meat and sauerkraut and some Dijon mustard sauce and was very flavourful. The fries were super fresh and the most largest serving of fries I've ever been served at an actual restaurant. My friends went with the fish and chips which were large in portion size also.
Overall, the food was fantastic fantastic prices were reasonable for current day market value. I highly recommend eating here if you are ever in the town.

I'm really disappointed that I've lived in Sarnia for 6 years and it took me this long to come here. I took my bf for father's Day brunch. The wait was not long at all (and well worth it). Our server was friendly and attentive. We both had eggs, Benny (his lobster, mine on portebello), and it was perfectly done. You felt "at peace" eating there by the water. You didn't care about the time it took for your food as you enjoyed the scenery and place. Also, love my red sangria. Absolutely could've been dangerous drinking those! Lol, I did have the electric lemonade and found it way too sweet. Gave it to my bf, and he was happy.
We look forward to coming back in two weeks!

Dockside is great for the atmosphere and has decent food. On our most recent visit I tried their “Jake’s Pick” burger with an extra patty and my partner had the meatball sub. Both items were good although the portion size of the sub was on the smaller side. Overall it was a decent experience at a decent price point.

Have to say one thing the BLAT on the menu says first thing, loads of bacon well I guess at dockside this means 2 pieces. They really need to eliminate the word loads off the menu as this is very wrong. Beware.

Good food friendly staff, all around easy to enjoy either on the patio over the water or inside next to the floor to ceiling windows.

Just went at the start of the season on a nice evening. Tried the Lobster Mac and Cheese. The flavors were decent, but the portion size was absolutely tiny. For a dish listed on their "Main" category, it was seriously disappointing. Portion size was more appropriate for an appetizer. Came with a single small slice of a baguette which, was tasty, but again, tiny. For a $22 dish, not worth the price. If you want a snack, then it's a pretty pricy snack. My wife was also with me, shr got a beef dip which again, was reasonably flavourful but also quite small on size. They gave her barely any fries. So again, hers was $18.99, not worth the price for what you get. Overall, if you want an overpriced snack on the beautiful waterfront, I could then recommend it. But for those wanting a reasonable dinner, I'd suggest avoiding it for the season of 2023.
