We often celebrate special occasions at Amadeus. It has great food, large portions, excellent pricing and the staff are always steller. However, I could do without the cowbell every few minutes. It was especially annoying tonight. We had to halt our conversation and wait until it was done before we could continue. We will return but will ensure we sit in the back.
Absolutely recommended restaurant. The waitress was extremely attentive and friendly. We ate Jägerschnitzel, with homemade spaetzle (Knöpfle) and vegetables. The food was great. Classical music plays in the background. I recommend this restaurant to everyone who likes to eat German dishes.
Came for dinner and got the Pfeffer schnitzel. The schnitzel was delicious, the gravy was great, a little on the salty side but not so bad as to be off-putting. The spaetzle was also quite good with the gravy, the carrots felt a little like an afterthought but they were fine.
Also got a chance to try a bite of the paprikash which was delicious.
The prices were reasonable, a good and reasonable portion for the price without feeling excessive.
Service was good especially given how busy it was. Definitely make reservations.
If ur looking for authentic German food this is the place for u it takes a while to make to food but that means it fresh and healthy from sausage to pretzel to snitchel it rules the field of German restaurants it has a amazing patio
Amadeus Cafe is an old favourite from my college days. I took my family there for a peasantfeast (bauernschmaus) and schnitzel during a trip to Kingston last week and the food was as good as I remembered from twenty years ago!
Food was excellent as usual. However we waited for 45 minutes for the food and thats not even where I feel concerning is they charged for each refill of pop so ended up paying $10 per person a night for pop is just ridiculous. Just a reminder for everyone and for myself.
It has been our lovely place and have been here 5 or 6 times a year (usually 1 glass of pop is enough if food comes fast as usual), but maybe service has changed.
Food was not great. The only thing that tasted ok was the soup. I would not call that a Schnitzel what they got there. (my wife ordered that and i tried it) I am from Europe and have tried these foods many times before. My Gulasch was very salty and not spicy enough. Would not come again.
Specializing in German cuisine, this restaurant serves hearty portions of sausages and snitzels. The service is friendly and the food tastes good. The prices are reasonable too. Cleanliness, however, leaves much to be desired; we had to hunt around for clean silverware and the floor was filthy under our table.
Look, I don't know much, BUT if you like German food, this is a must. If you have heard of The Black Forest Restaurant in Hamilton (our favorite) Amadeus is our new favorite while in Kingston. Goulash soup a must. Enjoy. Roy from Hamilton
Great selection of German, beers on tap, and the service was excellent as well. However, it was very disappointing otherwise. For example, the Bretzels tasted like they were store-bought and extremely salty. The Jaeger schnitzel had a gravy made up of powder, or at least that’s what it tasted like. The Spatzle had a good texture but next to no flavour as well. A very poor example of German cuisine.
Absolutely loved our dinner here! The schnitzels are delicious and so filling, the ambiance is lovely.definitely my family's favourite restaurant in Kingston that we have visited so far!
Had my grandfather's 99th birthday party there. Everything went great, they made him his favourite schnitzel that was not on the menu. He said he wants to come back for his 100th.
