This shop is selling date expired items and overcharging to the customers. On the other hand, they prefer cash sales and no visa credit lower than $40 and selling unhealthy meat products as well. Government should be regulate this shop regularly and fined huge amount of money. They don’t care of the date expire items and selling them earn maximum profit.

A very nice store stocked with most essentials you’d expect to find in a typical Tamil grocery store! Easily accessible by public transport and employees are very helpful too

I love this store. I haven't been in a while, but the manger/owner always greets me as if he remembers me. He is helpful, and their fresh coriander is the best.

South Indian, Tamil grocery store near parliament Street. Prices are high but you will find all indian groceries here. Fresh fish available like shrimp, pompreft.
No beef in store. Pure hindu store with puja materials available. Ashirwaad atta, dabur mustard oil, Poha, Haldiram bhujia available. Country chicken also available but frozen, I never tried though.

Location is good. Sherborne subway is 5-10 min walking distance. Interestingly I found hyderabad karachi bakery also in the store.

A little confusing shop, I called to check basil seeds he said no but still thought to take a chance and check at the store and I found it in the store. At check out he said only debit card and I used a debit card. On giving receipt he said you used credit card I said no I did not and showed my card and he still couldn’t believe. Very disappointing service.

A nice simple Indian grocery store. You get most of the essential Indian stuff at good price. Location is also very good for people living in downtown
12 May 2021 1:33
Good variety of Indian groceries but way too pricey. Store is small, tight aisles so you need to let others pass while picking up items from shelves which makes the visit little irritating for me
29 April 2021 2:58
All Indian essentials ang grocery items under one roof. Just need to stock up their chips, looks like it gets over way too quickly.
07 January 2020 23:36
All raw materials to prepare Indian food are available. Cost is a little high but that is bound to happen as it is imported from India.

Toronto is one of the world's most diverse cities. And most people who are happy about this (like me) will tell you that one of the essential benefits of this diversity is the chance to dining-chair travel to exotic locations. I was once a vegetarian, even, for five years, a vegan. Now I am blissfully free of eating disorders, but when practising both of these I became aware that the cuisine of India is as varied as Europe's, with many regional specialities, and their tradition of vegetarianism goes back centuries.

Ambal Trading is a fascinating glimpse into that country. The next time you're searching for a mysterious ingredient for your home-cooked Indian meal, check them out - they'll probably have it. Dried mango powder? No problem. Asafoetida? They have. Hot lime pickle? Yes again. Spices, vegetables you've never seen before, fish, pappadums, authentic basmati rice, tableware, cooking utensils. I end up spending a long time there and buying much more than I intended. The prices are very reasonable.

The Indian gentleman at the cash does look a bit amused at this white guy buying all these exotic ingredients, because white people always want a sanitized version of "abroad" and he knows that's what I'm doing.
And you know what? It's good to be an outsider, briefly, occasionally. It keeps you humble.

If you are a South Indian living in Toronto, entering this shop will give you the feeling of being back in Chennai!
You can get all your favourite brands and the vegetables that are an essential part of South Indian cooking
17 December 2019 21:45
Overpriced. No clear label prices and varying rates depending on payment mode. You'll be better off not assuming the staff to tender right change or prompt for/give the receipt. Always double-check the change returned, and insist on receipt. Didn't have a good experience with them and will probably never visit them again.
09 December 2019 14:22
It has almost everything from India that you will need. Things were a little less organised and also paying thrice the price of some items stings. But otherwise great store.

Mid of the town easy commute options makes it one of busy and friendly shop community living around. All veg, groceries are available though they don't have few veg which i have seen in other places. Great for rice and atta. It's a small shop fulfilling all your grocery needs.
Since it's in downtown, parking is difficult.

20 November 2019 9:31
For the ones who are looking for everything Indian groceries. A small but complete shop for all sorts of spices, teas, coffee, pulses etc. Also, do not miss to but the sweets they on the counter. In fact, we just bought a few things for Diwali celebrations too. You also get spices at much cheaper rate than you would get anywhere else. And they also have some or the other offers on multiple items. This is nearby blood street probably a 15 mins walk.

Good place to get Indian groceries. Could do with more organization and brighter lighting. Staff is usually friendly
11 November 2019 15:27
It's best you go there on Friday, that's when they restock. They accept cash only and it may get really claustrophobic on weekends.
07 November 2019 0:48
One can Get most of the Indian food items (spices, vegetables, other misc) here.would be nice to have more variety of brands though.

Tiny and neat indian store. They have lot of indian groceries, Vegetables are very few though, but are fresh. Staff is good.
28 July 2019 11:10
Get your Indian freak on, here. All groceries, snacks, nicknacks and vegetables related to South Indian preparations are readily available with lots of options for a few items. The store is well stocked and stacked, and sees a lot of crowd on an average. However, the prices can be on the higher side when compared to other Indian grocers around town, but you get what you pay for (at least for most items, nevertheless)
Parking is on the street (paid) and the store is not accessibility-friendly.
29 June 2019 6:27

Nice place, fair prices, and a lot of items. Could use greater organization to improve the ease of search, but otherwise the staff are always helpful to assist.
24 April 2019 21:17
Indian grocery shop. It is having almost everything what you will require in Canada as an Indian, from Poha to dry fish. However, I found this place is bit expensive over the other Indian stores in town.
02 April 2019 11:06
Most of the items an Indian would need in his/her kitchen to make his Indian dish could be found here. Shop is conveniently located. Shop owners are friendly. Would recommend Indians to visit the same, they would certainly love it.
