Ami Sushi

Best sushi place in Oakville hands down! We love this place and have been going for over 10 years. Consistently good! We always look forward to our next visit.

Supporting our neighborhood restaurant is a must do and hope they will be there for a long time, in general food is just fine and presentation is very normal, not expecting much but can do better with the rice on the sushi, it is rather hard and compact, if it can be softer, it would make the sushi more enjoyable.

The waitress dropped the tray of food loudly on my table and as well tossed the receipt at my table lol.the food is ok I guess, not the best I've ate in Ontario and the price is higher than the restaurants that are better.

Great vegetarian sushi. It's been my go-to take out place for a while. The food is great and the service very friendly.

Ordered Chirashi tonight. Wow! Small portions! So thinly sliced and even rice was minimal. Even for pandemic portions this was extremely small. So many other choices. I would rather pay a few dollars more and get more reasonable portions. Won’t be back

Not very impressed. Spent a lot of money on takeout food to celebrate a birthday, (averaged $35 per person) Taste was ok, nothing special. But portions and quality of rolls were not as good as in the past. The bulgogi portion was very very small in size, and did not come with rice. Other restaurants include free rice with that dish, and the portion is double in size. For being a long time customer, and spending so much money, they could have offered to include the steamed rice (valued around $2) for free.
We were all still hungry after eating our meal. Very expensive and not worth the price. We will not be ordering from Ami Sushi again. Sorry you have lost a customer. In the future, we will order from Wasabi and Teriyaki instead, not too far away from Ami Sushi, they give bigger portions, have great quality, much cheaper, 10% off with cash payment, AND they give free spring rolls with our order!

We got a sushi tray and other items delivered to us. It was so bad we took he tray and teriyaki back to the restaurant while two of the family members went and grabbed burgers.

The owner argued with us saying the fish was fresh. They just got it today. She didn’t want to make the situation right. The sushi chef eventually caved and told her to work with us…was my sense. She was relentless. She did eventually admit that the tuna and maybe the salmon wasn’t fresh.

After much arguing, she finally did the right thing and refunded us a portion of the bill.

Increasing sortiment of vegan offers! Try to speak Korean with the staff, it is fun! A great place to celebrate family events due to the separated smaller rooms. Everything is "chongmal mashissayo" - very tasty)

We ordered over $150 from Uber Eats as a family. After eating a few pieces of a tuna roll, I couldn’t believe how bad it was. The sashimi was definitely not fresh so I moved onto the teriyaki chicken. It was like eating tasteless old rubber. I hate to say it, but I literally left the dinner and went to get a burger.

I was even more disappointed to hear that the owner refused to give us our money back, even though she admitted that the tuna and salmon “ was not fresh”. DO NOT EAT HERE!

The audacity to argue and refusing to reimburse after admitting it was old, demonstrates that this is not her first rodeo.

I will never go back, boycott this restaurant and sadly hope that she gets her act together for the sake of her customer’s health. It is a crime that the poor quality was coupled with a nasty attitude. I would actually pay people not to eat there, just because of that.

What a disappointment!

Pleasantly surprised by the sushi and tempura. I would definitely go back. Three (large) rolls and two appetizers came to $63 including tip and tax. We had a private booth, which was nice, so no worries about having to take our masks off to eat. Server was kind enough to rush our order because we were in a hurry.

Nice place to eat lunch, maybe a low key dinner. Slightly higher than average prices for a sushi restaurant, with slightly better than average food quality.
Plenty to choose from on the menu, and nice semi private booths to sit in.
Staff were very nice, polite and helpful.

Worst sushi place in GTA. The owner and staff are extremely rude. If you want a pleasant dining experience, DO AVOID THIS PLACE!

Excellent costumer services. The store is follow the COVID health protocol. You need to wear mask all the time. You need to be full vaccine in other to seat at the restaurant. The store is well located the go train and the bus transportation are in front of the restaurant.
The sushi was delicious and fresh.

We got take-out last Friday and it was DELICIOUS and super FRESH! And much like the other reviews, the presentation on the take-out plate was beautiful and it made us feel like we were at a restaurant. They send you a thank you note as well. Overall it was the best take-out experience and did I mention the food was delicious? You have to try it!

Food is very good! I’m from Montreal and every time I stay at the holiday inn, I get a meal from there. Always amazing:) Go for the beef yaki udon with extra beef

I don’t usually write reviews, but I placed an online order at 6: 30pm and didn’t get my order until 8: 15pm. Order got delayed and when I showed up to pick it up at the designated time, I had to wait in my car another 20min. They may have great sushi, but you need to order way in advance.

Cozy place and very traditional. It felt like you are really in Japan. Servers were wearing kimono. It's just amazing! I so love their Unagi Donburi, the grilled eel just melts in your mouth.

I would rate Ami Sushi at 3.5 stars, but unfortunately I can't give half stars. Service was good, staff were very friendly. The wait was a bit long, but it was also a friday night, so understandable.

Onto the food, and this is where I had to deduct 1.5 stars from. The miso soup was very tasty but the container it came in was only half full. We ordered several different rolls, the dynamite and spider roll were both fairly dry and the crab/shrimp seemed overcooked while also lacking flavour. I also got the Tokyo and spicy salmon roll, these were both great. I would also say the rice was a little on the dense side, but still good. I also appreciated that the ginger and wasabi were in a separate part of the tray surrounded by garnish so they didn't contact the sushi.

Overall decent food, and good service, but there are better choices depending on what you're ordering.

Tried this place before with a friend and I am obsessed since then. I liked the fantastic ambience and tasty dishes and beverages. 5 stars.

I adore this restaurant a lot. It has a happy spirit. The kitcen is splendid.the service is dynamic and the personel is professional. The price is honest.profoundly recommend.

This place is my favorite. I eat in plenty of restaurants but here I go the most. The team is very receptive and the cooking they offer is so fresh and tasty. I would always prefer to have a nice dinner here. I recommend this place with pleasure.

I eat here a lot since I work right next to it. I love how the customer service is always great and they keep the place clean constantly. Rates are affordable and they serve large portions.

The shrimp and veggie tempura were amazing and the spicy kimchi udon was tasty! Most importantly the owners were caring and considerate. We left our cell phone at the restaurant and they waited for us to come back even after closing time. We are grateful for such warm hospitality and would recommend this place for an enjoyable dining experience.

Took my dad here for his birthday and this place ROCKED! The food AND the service were absolutely fabulous! We got sushi, sashimi, bbq squid, soups and salads and EVERYTHING was perfect! Presentation was great too!

I’ve come here quite a few times for lunch alone on a weekday. I’ve always been impressed with the quality and friendly service. My most recent visit I brought my son (almost 4 years old). The servers went beyond my expectations, giving us a semi-private area and special kids chopsticks for my son to use. For desert my son had a single scoop of vanilla ice cream, which was a decent size and decorated with chocolate syrup and sprinkles.

Very clean and accessible spot. They serve large meals and for reasonable prices. We enjoyed the food very much and the waiters were super attentive and chatty. Highly recommended.

I meet friends in this great spot often! This is my favorite restaurant to grab a bite. I go there regularly. The meals are very good, the crew is courteous and the prices are good. I enjoy going in this place to have a tasty dinner.

This place is absolutely one of the most pleasant place in the region. Whenever I come there I am so satisfied. They maintain their high standard service and the highest level of dishes they offer. You definitely will enjoy this this restaurant. Very recommended.

Decided to stop with the wife and turned into a romantic evening the setting the ambiance also food was the best sushi I ever tasted. Will be going there again

I celebrated my graduation this evening in this great restaurant.happy to tell that we passed a outstanding evening and the place was definitely one of the reasons for this happy evening. Non accommodating for what people want. 500 items on the menu but you can't seem to order what you want without paying maximum price. No need to share a picture i felt like someone had their hand in my pocket. Won't be back

I had an extraordinary at this restaurant. We enjoyed the amazing ambience and the food. The waiters are very welcoming. I am content we finally managed to eat here.

75$ later and I'm still hungry, I don't see what all the fuss is about, I should have gone to MacDonalds next door, the most it would have cost would be 30$, and my kids would be full, You may have been drinking saki all night, but I am a responsible parent and do not drink and drive

Excellent sushi restaurant. Great atmosphere, great service, delicious food with good portion size and freshness. Everything you would want - plus delicious bulgogi!

Food was awesome. Service was bad. The host was friendly but very condescending. He treated my family and me assuming we didn't know anything about the cuisine and asked us to try Chinese restaurant cos we asked for plain noodles for our daughter.

Cozy interior with a warm and friendly service. Good variety of traditional Japanese food choices including sushi, sashimi, maki and rolls. Prices are slightly on the higher side. The roll choices and preparation is decent but not the best in the area.

The lady who runs this restaurant is always kind to us. Our daughter likes the kids meals. Particularly the thin noodle soup option.
