I had the privilege of spending sometime at Anchor Pointe, both in the past with patients and most recently with friends. I can tell you first hand that the food is homemade and delicious. Really nice spacious apartments, and staff are like family to the community there. This independent retirement community is a buzz of activities. Should you know someone personally who would like to downsize and still live like royalty, then this is the place for them.

My mother lives there now and enjoys both the meals and the social gatherings. She wishes that there be more social events on the weekend because it is very quiet.

Great location and obviously well kept. Caring and attentive staff. Fabulous place to work with interesting residents with lives full of fascinating experiences and unique stories. Could not recommend Anchor Pointe more.

This past spring/summer after her accident mom moved in to Anchor Pointe, our family was so grateful for the great care she received. She loved the meals and enjoyed the multitude of activities…she was living her best life…so much so that she is moving back in full time in a few weeks.

This place went downhill after new ownership and management took over. Most Residents were hit with large rate hikes. I know a person who had their rent raised from $3200 per month to $3900. Which represents almost 25% from one month to the next. If You would think it wouldn’t be legal, you would be wrong. All they do is raise the price of food and services, not the “rent” per say, keeping it legal. Some of the long term employees left. A place that was once fairly happy to live in and work seemingly had a change of attitude. Its trickledown effect along with elderly now living in fear of unaffordable rate hikes makes for not optimal living conditions. All of this is made worse by the fact that since new management the quality of the food is not good. Where as they used to make many things fresh, most is prefrozen and brought in. The vegetables are mostly frozen or root vegetables. Bread etc used to be made on premises, no more. Some people have stood up during meals demanding better food. Management was recently seen at The Grand Canal in Welland, purporting to be looking for a family member, hopefully they were looking on how to improve. It could be a nice place to live again, as it used to be. Right now I wouldn’t consider it. Definitely not worth the money. I dislike leaving negative reviews but I felt this very important.

My mother lived at Anchor Pointe for 15 years. She actively participated in many of the wonderful activities that were provided for the residents. She enjoyed the exercise program, she created a small group that crafted a quilted wall hanging that is still there, she enjoyed many of the bus journeys around Niagara and participated in their many community outreach programs. She also enjoyed her Friday morning hair appointments, a ritual that she had her entire life! The staff became like family, not only to her but to our family as well. We felt comfort in knowing that mom was well cared for and safe, even during tough times like the pandemic. I can not say enough good things about Anchor Pointe and the entire team. I highly recommend this as a home for anyone who wants to enjoy their retirement living!
