Andaz Ottawa Byward Market - a concept by Hyatt

Très bien situé au centre ville, l’hôtel Didier d’un parking extérieur (35$/jour). Les chambres sont grandes et lumineuses.
Seul bémol: le petit déjeuner « à la carte » et assez cher.

Can't beat this location! Did a couple nights with the family and had a great time. Coffee wasn't very good though.

We recently stayed at ANDAZ for a week, we were so impressed especially with front desk Ryan Taylor, he made our stay so welcoming and helpful we didn’t want to leave! We loved the Lounge upstairs, the Jumbo shrimp was amazing, the restaurant in the lobby we ate twice was delicious! I recommend the salmon.

This was my 2nd time staying at this hotel and it will probably be my last. Service has gone down since COVID. I stayed here for 2 nights and the room was never cleaned. I understand it is their policy to not do deep cleaning but they didn’t even bother to give us fresh glasses to drink out of. I was also promised a late checkout free of charge which they later tried to revoke. I will say the food at the lobby restaurant is very good albeit overpriced. Skip the rooftop bar. The ambiance isn’t all that great and they’re selling ice for $19 dollars and trying to pass it off as a drink. Avoid!

As others have said the area is kind of sketchy at night. Many homeless people walking around. Not the fault of the hotel but something to consider when booking.

Did you ever hear about a Management stealing almost $1000 from their customers through gaslighting about their policies for a group event? That's what the Andaz rooftop management likes to play to get you to pay almost $1000 extra and refuses to refund and makes up stories like your friends called me to say you're a liar in order to justify them not refunding you. I strongly discourage hosting big group events at Andaz. The management is corrupt; unless you have a free $1000 to give away. You were warned. They should be ashamed of themselves - so low of them. Truth and justice shall prevail in Jesus' Name!

Un bel hôtel très bien situé pour visiter en marchant. Un accueil agréable, bien choisir des chambres exposées sur le centre ville. Le petit déjeuné est plutôt nord américain. A réserver pour la prochaine visite dans la capitale.

Room’s clean. Staff are nice!

One thing that bothers me is we came back from the market after drinking probably around 2am. And there were a few young people wandering around outside the hotel gate n trying to get in, but they certainly didn’t live there. As they didn’t have keys to open the front door. Made my friend from Vancouver thought Ottawa downtown didn’t seem so safe. At least manage one or two male staff stay at the front door is better than leaving only one female young lady work during the night shift.

That’s not it. When we arrived our room, there two young people looking drunk, sitting on the hallway chatting in front of our room. They didn’t seem have a room either, but how did they get in? They probably like to enter inside bcs it’s cozy and warm, quiet, better than being outside. They stayed at least up to two hours before I fell asleep, they were still there. Which means, the security didn’t pay much attention on CCTV either. I hope this review will ring a bell to hotel managers and fix these problems.

The room was clean, the view is amazing, the rooftop is beautiful with the glass wall, nice place to relax after a day of exploration!

Very nice hotel in the heart of Ottawa. View from the 14th floor was very nice, but would have liked a view of the Parliament. No room service, which was disappointed, but we'll blame the pandemic. Very well situated.

I had a wonderful 3 nights stay. Great location and view. Most importantly, great team of staff from front desk, to the restaurant and rooftop, staff and the happy hour on the rooftop with a nice sunset view. Great breakfast selections and high quality gourmet egg dishes downstairs at Feast and Revel. It’s worth to go in there for breakfast even if you are staying at the other hotel. Of course, it’s better if you stay at Andaz too ;)

Had a great stay here! Staff was super friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. View overlooking parliament and the market was really cool! They have a lovely roof top bar. The Resto was booked so unfortunately, I missed getting to try the food.

Lovely room. Clean and well decorated. A little loud from the street noise on the weekend but location was central which is convenient. Warning parking isn't “hotel” parking just a poorly monitored public lot. Paid for the weekend and came back from supper with nowhere to leave my car 2 days in a row. Staff just shrugged and refunded the parking I prepaid, unapologetically stated it happens all the time.

Overall stay at this hotel was DISTRESSED. I called ahead of time to make sure reservation was good. At check-in NO ONE guided us for parking by themselves initially. I drove over to their parking lot only to find out it was full. Told the front desk staff it was full, then they advised me to park at a different public parking location a bit inconvenient but ok. Our room’s thermostat (AC/HEAT) wasn’t working AT ALL. Tried to call them numerous times from the room didn’t work, even called from my cell phone to their hotel front desk number- nothing/ VM was also full (was told next day that their phone lines were also having issues). The thermostat situation worked out for a bit when we opened the window for some air but after few hours it became very suffocating, so had to go downstairs to talk to the front desk staff. In a span of 4 hours (6 am- 10 am) spoke with 3 different staff members (1st staff member absolutely ensured me someone was coming to fix it as early as 7 am; nobody showed up. Had to came downstairs AGAIN to ask someone to fix the thermostat) Finally a very nice gentleman Nelson showed up close to 11ish who was then able to fix it and we could FINALLY GET SOME SLEEP. Later in the evening, AC stopped working again and it was too humid and noisy outside to open window at the time. Texted to get some help, staff wasn’t able to fix it and I was told I had to wait until 7 am next morning to get it fixed. When asked to see if they can switch my room I was told they are sold out.

My whole family’s Thanksgiving was ruined with this stay!

I am thoroughly satisfied with this hotel. My suite was spacious, the prices were reasonable and the location in the Market is just where I wanted to be. I will stay at the Andaz the next time I am Ottawa for sure.

Good clean modern hotel. I found the room a little small - in a room with 2 queens I would have hoped for 2 chairs and a desk but there wasn't enough space. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. My main complaint is with the website and App from which I wasn't able to find information on parking, amenities, opening times and menus. However, when I used the app to text I did get prompt helpful replies.

Perfect location. The convenience of having a quick breakfast on site would be better. The restaurant on site is ridiculously priced. The breakfast at the Le Germain is well thought out.

Rooms are decent but absolutely ridiculous service. There are no bathroom slippers. Provided only one robe between the 2 of us. No basic items provided like a toothpaste. We booked a room with a view and got the view of dumpster and a shabby parking lot. Menus aren't available online for the restaurants. Not what you expect from Hyatt.

Cheap room. Great unbeatable location. Rooms shabby in need of a good cleaning & a housekeeper with an eye for details.curtains coming off the hooks, rugs stained etc. Be aware no one is coming to do up your room during Covid- so learn to make your own bed! Check in & front staff (only 2) are not able to handle the hotel efficiently- restaurants not fully staffed, always a line up for the elevator.thank goodness the weather was good otherwise you would not want to spend anytime in your room.

Andaz Hotel Ottawa, Lost and Found department is a MESS. I realized that I forgot my range rover fob key in a drawer. I called immediately. They told me that they found it. My cousin went there to pick it up and they were like we didn't find it, it was a mistake. I had to towed the car from ecopark and the agency is charging me 2000usd to fix the computer and get a new key. Now they found it and are sending me the key but the damage is already done due their Lost and Found Logistic. Whoever read this from the Hotel please make sure this never happen againg with another client. Thank You

The copper spirits bar was closed at the time, which was a huge let down. However, you could still access the rooftop patio to check out the view of the city.

I just liked the location. We booked three rooms for parliament view, paid for it but just got one. You should mention on the website. Also, there were no robes, no slippers, not even complimentary snacks as they mentioned while booking. You should improve on these things to get a 5 star, just a suggestion.

Very European feel.very close to Byward Market.staff were outstanding, especially Jade at the front desk.would definitely recommend.

Very modern look and comfortable. My only beef was with outside noise that could be heard clearly while in the room.

Because of COVID-19 was not able to experience the room service or dining area but I hear they have a fantastic roof top patio. Would definitely book there again!

Victoria McMahon is one of the front office supervisors and was very accommodating as well as professional while handling my check in, at first I had difficult checking in with a different Staff member but that was not their fault as I had lost my credit card during my trip to Ottawa while staying at a friend's cottage.
I will definitely be staying here again when Im in town for business because compared to some of the other hotels in the area I felt safe, secure and its very upscale

TLDR; Given wrong information by concierge multiple times, poor poor parking, TV was not up to par, room had a nice view, and given COVID, breakfast was good. Overall, not a good representation of a 4star hotel.

We booked as Visa Infinite members.

We pulled into a parking lot that was overflowing and parked along some cement blocks because there were no parking spots. When we went into the concierge, we were told there was parking 3 blocks down where we have to pay for parking. My wife is 8 months pregnant, so it is quite evident, and to come back 3 blocks with all our luggage made absolutely no sense to me. Several websites say valet parking is available, which was never offered to us. We were told if we had any questions, to text the number on the hotel card.

I also asked for a room upgrade from 2 queens to 1 king and was declined. We were given a room with a view of parliament which was nice, and if no rooms are available, then I cannot put that on the hotel.

We were told we had a $100 CAD food/beverage credit as part of VISA infinite to use for the rooftop bar. We were told that it closes at 2AM and it was on the top floor. (It should have been USD not CAD).

As evening comes, we got to the rooftop bar around 9: 30 PM - we were asked if we had a reservation, and when we did not, we were told it was too busy, so we had to turn around and leave. Even though the website kept taking us to OpenTable, there was no spot to book reservations.

So I texted the help number on the hotel card to help book reservations. It has been 3 days and I still have not received a response.

Next day, we went down for breakfast (complementary for Visa Infinite members) which was nice. It was supposed to consist of a sandwich, pastry, beverage, fruit (only apples), and yogurt (which we did not receive).

We ended up booking reservations for the rooftop bar for 9: 30 PM so we could enjoy it before it became too late. Since we were told it was open till 2AM, imagine my surprise when I was told at 10: 30 that it was last call.apparently they closed at 11PM. What a shame.

2nd day's breakfast was fantastic, we got everything we were supposed to, it was nice and hot, and the 2 girls at the breakfast station were very nice and friendly.

The room was nice, clean, and had a beautiful wall of windows overlooking Parliament Hill. The washroom was spotless and everything worked as it should have. The sheets felt odd, almost plastic like. The TV came with no channel guide, and had the guide button disabled on the remote, so we could not see anything about the programming, which was frustrating.

The easiest, and happiest part of the hotel for me was checkout. It felt exciting to give my room key back, clear the tab, and leave.

Overall, the staff were very nice, friendly, and polite. However they misinformed us, failed to take certain information into consideration, and did not represent the hotel at a 4 star level.

I would look elsewhere for a luxurious stay especially at the price point.

We booked a night at the Andaz recently (my husband plus our 1 year old). On the reservation I requested a crib and/or pack-n-play. I also called the hotel to confirm this request could be done. When we arrived to Andaz, I mentioned the crib and they said that they would send one up to the room right away. This was in the afternoon. We went out for a walk and dinner and when we got back at 7, we were told that all the cribs were in use.

The hotel only has FOUR cribs for a hotel will 200 rooms. Because of this, we had to leave. My one year old can't sleep in a regular size bed (which infant can? !) and the hotel had no solution.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. If you have planning on staying here as a family, DO NOT as they are clearly not equipped.

I had to ask to be refunded and nothing else was offered to us for this huge inconvenience. Very disappointing. We won't be staying with Andaz or a Hyatt again.

Very disapointed with this hotel they seemed very on edge all the time when id ask them for help.room service for my dinner was horrible meal was cold. They forgot to put me in there system so i couldnt buy drinks at there bar up stairs its really to bad seems like alot of people like this hotel but i can say i will never stsy at this hotel again.

Fantastic staff! Very helpful and courteous. The room was surprisingly spacious. It was clean and the bed comfortable. Even had a welcome card left with chocolate by the front door. Had a good view of the surrounding area. The only down side was not much in terms of public parking, you're pretty much forced to go through the valet.

Service for pet is excellent.and location is the heart of ottawa entertainment district.so easy to access everywhere. Cleanness and location made me comfort. I will definitely visit and stay next trip in ottawa.

Not a good experience.upon arrival we had to wait just over 20 minutes to get to the front desk to check in.there was a group of 5 infront of us. There was a lady at the second check-in desk but was just standing there. When I approached the desk she told me to go back in the line. Finally when it was our turn we found out there's a wedding and groups are coming in.shouldn't they have staffed properly?
Second, Valet told us to call from the room and they will call back to tell us car is here. We went downstairs AFTER they told us car is here just to find out they will be going now to get the car. Another 15 minute wait.

We're checking out day after but so far it's been a bad experience. Rooms are great and clean, job well done. But customer service, not so much.

One of my favourite places in Ottawa is definitely the byward market. Its charming, cozy, homey, and a nice place to hang out with friends in a casual coffee shop or go for dinner in a fancy restaurant. Its nicely decorated in both summer and winter, and central to the rest of the city

I have memories that I visited with my family during my school days, but it is a trip with good memories, and this place also remembered in this place. If I have the opportunity I would like to visit again.

Ideal location given that it is located in the heart of Byward market. The rooftop bar offers excellent view of the city, great service and great cocktails.

Had a great nights stay after attending an event. Noted in the booking that we were excited to have a night away from kids and were greeted with and upgraded room and a gifted bottle of wine and some sweet treats when we returned that night. I wish that the hotel was a little more upfront about the security deposit that was charged to our card. Also, they should be a little more upfront about the cost of their valet-only parking, as there was a significantly cheaper option just around the corner (riskier but still). Overall, very happy!

Such a beautiful hotel with unique design features and welcoming staff. The complimentary glass of wine at check in and free non alcoholic drinks in the room is a nice touch!

Great breakfast options. Rooms are very comfortable and decoration is modern and functional. The washroom products such as shampoo, conditioner, soap and body lotion are all local and smell incredible. The staff is great, they always have a smile on their face and remember your name. They try hard to make you feel at home and they achieve it to perfection. Also, the hotel is very well located. I highly recommend staying at the Andaz, it's better than other hotels and the price per night is the same, if not lower.

Check-in with the Hyatt app made life easy I received a warm welcome from the staff and love the room, modern and minimalist. One of the biggest things I love about the Andaz is the commitment to a good night sleep. Ear plugs were provided in the room (without request) and there is no bright glaring alarm clock to brighten the room with an obnoxious digital display when you're trying to sleep (don't worry there is still a clock). Overall I have enjoyed my stay and would recommend the Andaz to others.

So here we are on a saturday night, went to Andaz to see the view and have couple of drinks. No reservations so we are standing.

There is a baby shower happening at the end of the patio. Predominently black. They are having a goodtime.

We are standing on the rooftop patio having drinks and whatever you do at the bar. The restaurant manager (female) comes stands close to us and unabashed starts staring at the party at the corner of the bar.

She calls in all the waiters at the floor to get a report on how much the party in the corner (baby shower party) has 'spent' so far. The waiting staff report the number which is insignificant in the manager's view. Henceforth, she stands there organising the waiting staff to close down the party stating 'if you want to do this, do it in your backyard'. The waiting staff reluctantly go into the crowd to inform them of the decree. By this time the security is organised.

Seeing this we made a vouch to never comeback to this establishment.

Very luxurious hotel. New design and a very beautifull roof top! Get a high level if you stay the night because you can hear people yealling or cars. Very good service. Loved our stay!

I love this hotel and am waiting for a good reason to head back to Ottawa for a visit. Snacks in the room are included as well as a beer or glass or wine upon arrival. What a great way to start! Everything is very clean and the rooftop bar is phenomenal. I hope this hotel keeps it's charm as I am going to be going back to visit soon!

Favorite hotel for my colleagues and I on our travel project because of its prime location in Byward market, the cleanliness and design of the whole place, and price for the budget. I have come across extremely friendly staff (a small blonde girl working reception was the nicest), but also a few rude and hostile or unhelpful staff that would've otherwise let me rate this 5 stars.

The mixed drinks are way watered down, so wine is the better choice but expect to pay $12+ for half the serving of wine you would get anywhere else. Also, the DJ bowed out around 1AM — which is a bit early — so the music quickly changed from current hits to low tempo, chill and retro music. Not bad, but a bit underwhelming.
