I have been to this restaurant many times since it was first opened, but i went last week after years & was disappointed! Food didnt have any taste as before. They definitely went down in their food quality. Totally disappointed

Amazing food. It's always fresh and ready. The place has remained the same since my first visit 10years back and the taste and experience remains the same despite the overwhelming crowd. Definitely try there Spl Fish Fry if you love sea food. It's so fresh and it had amazing taste. It's been such a long time since we tasted such an amazing fish.
Look out for their special today. It's always nice to try something on the menu.

Ordered Mutton sukka Biryani, Chicken Noodles and Chicken lollipop. All tasted so good. Mutton pieces were a little hard but the taste was so good. Chicken noodles was very nice and the lollipop also tasted very nice.

Love this place. I've been coming here for 4 years now usually on my brother's bday because he loves the food here. The manager is also very good and the staff as well. Will come back again ofc.

I went to pick up food today, since I have work on a Saturday and I didn't want to cook on a Friday night. So I asked for extra sambal and I was ready to pay for extra bowl of sambal. Since on the menu it also says you can buy sambal under extras section. But the server denied to serve extra sambal due restaurant policies even if I am willing to pay for it. All other places give out extras upon request. I'm very disappointed with Anjappar Chettinad. So I didn't end up picking up food. Very upset.
Moreover, I just finished work and picked up a drink from Starbucks and went in the restaurant just to place an order with a drink in my hand, I was not even planning to stay in the restaurant after placing the order while another server mocked me for a outside drink in my hand while I was not even in the restaurant for more than 2 minutes. Very unhappy with the services, I will make sure to tell everyone how terrible the service is.

Had dinner with friend and the quantity for dosa is amazing. Kara spicy dosa is must try. It’s spicy and tangy. Great staff and service.

First off, they for some reason *cannot* separate a bill or put different items on two bills. They should say this before ordering. If you don’t and were planning on splitting or separating items in multiple bills, one person will have to pay for the whole table. Absurd. I’ve never been to a restaurant that can’t do either of those. In addition… you lost your liquor licence? And how long has it been and when are you going to stop lying to customers about when it will be back? Service was not up to decent standard and the food was… well, it was food to say the most.

One guy serving alcohol to some other tables and when I asked, they saying there liquor liscence expired. How is it possible?

This incident took place at Anjappar Chettinad in Scarborough. We suffered food poisoning because the food served was stale and smelling bad. When we reported the issue, the manager behaved so rudely and completely refused to accept our feedback. He insisted that we just have what we have been served and he will not replace the food. He also said other customers are not stupid for not complaining, referring to us being one! Shocked to see such poor service and inappropriate behavior of the staff. Have reported the matter to food inspection department too and hope to see some strict action being taken against such a restaurant serving stale food and operating poor practices in Canada. Horrible experience!

Food quality and taste is very authentic and proper Indian style zaika. I have tried almost all type of dosa they have, idli and medu vada is also very good.
Moreover, that special South Indian filter Coffee I always order this.

First of all food is extremely overpriced compare to food value. Customer service was quite bad actually. Biryani test was good but filled with rice and microscopic meet portion! Again, $21 for that biryani way more expensive. There are lot more better places in Toronto.

This have always been my best place to go. However, yesterday I had an unusual experience. I made an order for 2 item. I made it clear that I didnt want anything spicy. When I open it at my home it was lacking proper taste due to low salt and other was super spicy. I could not even have one bite. It was so Hot! I call the restaurant around 10 PM. And said what was going on. The staff said "Thank you for the Feedback"! And hung up call. Was that suppose to quench my hunger? I was extemely disappointed with the service.

Food is OK but I got piece of plastic wrapper of something in a curry which is horrible. I chewed it and thankfully didn't swallow. I wouldn't go back there.

I have no regrets with the quality and taste of the food. But the staff need to be more accountable. I ordered through Doordash for a pickup. They didn't have the items I ordered, but they did not care to inform the person who picked up the order even after waiting for an hour right in front of their eyes. They confirmed that all the items ordered where packed, only to find that the order was incomplete. When called to inform them, the lady at the counter was so rude and I had to talk back strongly to get her understand the mistake she made. They priotize their phone order and do not treat the Doordash order properly. Totally a horrible experience with this branch. Never ordering with them again through Doordash.

Love the spicy and flavorful food options! Tried tandoori chicken and dry garlic shrimp takeout. Friendly service!

We called the restaurant to order coffee and decided to include a chicken dish and rice as well. As I don’t eat spicy food, we asked for their recommendation. The staff assured us that the Anjappar chicken masala is mild, along with the biryani rice. When we started eating, we reallzed the chicken was super spicy that even a family member who eats spicy food could not take it. We called to ask if there has been a mistake, but they said it was the right one. Anyway, I don’t think I will ever order from this place again. They ruined my dinner, not to mention I paid a good amount for the order. I just wish they’d be honest to customers, if there is really nothing for people who eats less spicy food in their menu.

First time and it was okayish. Not sure its because of COVID but they have limited options for south indian food i.e. Dosa.

Not impressed with the food despite the increased prices. Disappointed with the quantity and quality. Good staff, courteous, but if food is disappointing then unlikely to return.

Terrible service. We were the first guests for dinner service and forty minutes later we were served after two other tables who ordered the same dishes. I don't know what their problem was. We were not rude or indecisive so there was no reason to serve our table after everyone else in the restaurant.

I don’t think I’ll ever eat here again. Management cares so little that they don’t respond to emails, servers can’t be bothered to pass the call to a manager or the owner. An order through Ubereats took forever, not the restaurant’s fault, I know, but sending chicken instead of fish to a vegetarian, then arguing about what the order was, only to offer a very tepid apology is unforgivable. When a vegetarian eats meat it causes absolute havoc with the digestive system. The order took so long to get to us, the food had become mushy and barely lukewarm, the gobi indistinguishable from what we thought was fish but turned out to be chicken. Not Anjappars usual delicious food that I have come to enjoy over the years.
A few years ago I wrote a review when they decided to make their dishes bland, obviously catering to people who don’t appreciate spicy food. They went back to the way they made their food, and I once again enjoyed my favourite place. But this latest is unacceptable. I delayed writing this review to give the owner or manager an opportunity to respond to the email I sent October 18/21, but so far, nothing. I’m happy that they are doing so well with their business that they can ignore something like this. Sad though because I really did love this restaurant.

To start with the chutney’s, it’s taste is really mesmerising Both the Dosa’s were so Crispy and Buttery. One cannot resist to re-visit the place and get the hands on the rest of the menu

Consider this review being a pakka Andhra Spicy Food lover. Ordered Andhra style chicken wings and veg meals. Chicken was crispy but not that much spicy as everyone in reviews described but it tastes okay. Coming to veg meal they given 7 veg curries rasam, aalo, sambar, masala curry, cabbage, carrot beans fry, pickle and curd with a sweet. Ending with a filter cofee.not a wow experience but okay for once.

BUT AT LAST ORDERED A NORMAL PAROTHA FELT AWESOME. ITS A MUST TRY

I must say had other items were good [will do a review] but I suggest EXCLUDE this item natukodi biryani when you order from this place. Anjappar/scarborough. I dont think it was on menu and did not know the price before ordering. $23 is more than any biryani on the menu.when checked later. I doubt of other biryani items at this place though not eaten.
People were polite- nothing to complain about that.

Had dosa delivered through Ubereats, it was packaged really well, no leakage. Have had dosa in every GTA restaurant you can think of, and the sambar in this place is one of the best, if not the best! It was rich, with lots of vegetables, was not watery (like other places). We tried masala, paper (plain), ghee dosas (all were great). All were great.
The coconut and tomato chutney were amazing, it was fresh. Great sambar quantity, which is rare. They are always consistent with taste and quality. Only thing I would suggest is, do not order the paper dosa for take out, it will get soggy and that's not the restaurants fault. Enjoy it in person instead.

Really good chettinad food and good service. The crab is highly recommended as is the fish in coconut gravy

There was no salt in the food and the we returned the fish as it was tasteless still was charged for the same

Love your food. Have been ordering for a long time. Any special instructions are followed. Never been to the restaurant in person but my experience says these people would want to serve quality food.

We are regulars at Anjappar Chettinad Scarborough! The amazing food by chef Lama keeps us coming back - we love the South Indian and Indian Chinese here. Mr. Vijay and Satish ensure excellent service at all times. Highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you love Indian food. Lastly, don’t miss their South Indian filter coffee:)

This is a great place to get authentic south Indian food. They always keep the place very clean, and the staffs are very welcoming and friendly too. They also offer very fast service as the phone orders only takes around 25 min to prepare.

Went twice for dinner with parents and we absolutely loved the food (medhu wada, idli, veggie kothu parantha, dosa), vibe and the staff. The service and hospitality received was amazing.

I don't know the name but I guess was the manager who took our order both the times very nice and humble person. He made my parents felt welcomed and accommodated for the few customizations we asked for. We need more people like him:). Thank you so much for everything.

Loved the food and the service. Being away from home (India) and craving for some authentic Indian food, coming to this place was just what I needed.
Mind you this place was crowded with Indian, Sri Lankan crowd and can get noisy and service is slow but then good things take time.
Happened to order chicken masala Lollipops which was yummy (tried Haka Chinese before and it's not even close)
Also the Mutton Do pyaaza and it really has a nice gravy (coming from someone who never eats mutton) but what was magical was this

The manager and staff were sweet enough to compensate us with this amazing mango shake as complimentary as there was delay in service. That was so sweet of them.

Excellent service. Vijay the manager was fantastic at taking care of our needs. We had friends who did not eat spicy food and Vijay recommended the correct dishes made sure they were cooked correctly. Great dinner! Will revisit.

As the other location in Brampton the food was good. As usual the high price for South Indian food. Service need to improve as we experienced few mistakes from the staff. But overall good experience.

Very nice people. The only thing I personally don't like about this restaurant is it's location. You can't go East when exiting the parking lot. You have to go West about half a km to go back East.

Biryani is good. But for the price you pay, the quantity is so less. Chicken 65 only had 5 tiny pieces covered with heck lot of masala. I stopped going to this place and we are happy to go to Babu's instead.

Great staff! Let me get that out of the way, they were really pleasant bunch compared to other Indian restaurants in the area.certain things on the menu are really good but certain things are a meh! It's a arrow in the dark. But definitely will return for the service

I was looking for the tomato soup in Scarborough and found this place. I went there but they didn’t have it. So, i tried mutton bone soup. And i felt that as per price the soup was ok. But wasn’t a real soup rather than it was a gravy type. Try something else than soups!

The Houdini at Anjappar and the disappearance act!

It was the dark and gloomy evening of August 1, when we went in to this place. Hungry as bears, we called in to make reservations so that we din't have to wait and can eat soon.
After being seated at 8: 30pm, we seemed to be lost as it took ages for them to find us, attend to and take our food order. A person, seemingly the manager, took our order of 2 Dosas, 6 Chapathies with Gobi Munchurian and 1 Chicken Kothu Porotta. But then disappeared and was never to be seen again.
We grew eager and impatient, since our food never came to the table after 45mins of ordering. When enquired with the employees, each time someone went inside the kitchen and was never to be seen again.

There were customers in other tables, who were growing impatient as their orders had disappeared as well.
After having waited for more than an hour, we learnt the fact that we were never going to be served with food, since the restaurant was about to close in few mins. We were to starve for the night considering the fact that almost all of the restaurants were closed by this time.

We walked out sad, disappointed and hangry, swearing never to return to an Anjappar restaurant in our lifetimes.

There is though this mystery of the missing Manager, his Employees and our Food that remains to be solved.

We tried anjappar Scarborough for first time. We loved there butter chicken and rice. Customer service is also nice. A lady at front helped us to explaining the menu. Nice food and friendly customer service.

Anjappar serves fresh, authentic South Indian fare. The food is spicy and maybe that is why we rarely see people from other communities/ethnicities eating here. The mutton chukka with Parotha is a must try in this place. We love the usual vada sambhar and dosa too. Servers are great and efficient. One star less only because they don't reserve a table for you and there is always a queue in their Mississauga location.

Ordered Veg Pulao, One of the worst ever had. No veggies. Just plain white rice with some spices. I dont have option to give 1/2 star thats why 1. Please dont ever go for this dish in Anjappar Scarborough.

We came with a group of 16 people on a Friday night and only an hour heads up to the restaurant. That being said, the customer service was nothing like I’d seen before! To serve and meet the needs of 16 people is very challenging but the owner? Manager? Who took care of us, knew exactly what he was doing! Our food all came out at the same time, still hot, and cooked perfectly. All 16 of us left really full and happy! Thank you!

It was a wonderful experience. Very authentic south Indian food is available here. I have tasted mutton briyani, crab soup, Pawan pepper fry, egg kothu paratha and ghee roast (footlong).
Reasonable price. But have to travel all the way from downtown. But the food was worth the travel. Sooo good.

Highly Recommend! Food is fresh, delicious and portions are huge. Based on Sathish's recommendations, we ordered the Veg thaali (can feed 2 or 1 very hungry person,) fish biriyani and fried pomphret (sweet and light buttery fish.) The biriyani comes with a side of curry, yoghurt, and a boiled egg. The veg thaali comes with rice, chapati, yoghurt, sambar, rasam, pickle, spinachdaal curry, puli curry, 2 thick curries that were delicious, payasam and papadum. We couldn't finish all our food (so much of it) and packed most of it to go. The food hits the spot and the customer service is wonderful. These folks care about their customers and go above and beyond, especially Sathish! Thank you to the whole team for all that you do.

1st time I experienced bad food at this location

Regular customer from last 4 years. Best service, best food, best price. Restaurant manager is so nice, he is always running around asking guests if they need anything.

I ordered food today afternoon and never ever going to order food from here again. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. You can get good food for a better price from other restaurants. Pepper chicken had only 2 to 3 pieces of chicken with no salt. Crab soup did not have even a single piece of crab in it. Very very unhappy with the quantity.

I'm only putting 1 star because I do not have the option to put 0 stars. The food was packed terribly. When we received the food the boxes were partially opened and also dented. We were not at all comfortable eating it and felt unsafe to do given the condition of the boxes. When we called to inform them the customer service was appalling. The way the situation was dealt was very unprofessional, and they did not take any responsibility for it. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Very bad quality and quantity of food. We ordered chicken biryani, Mutton sukka biryani and paneer 65. The taste of the food is really bad and the restaurant guys say that it is how the taste is. But we have ordered multiple times from anjappar and this is not how it tastes. This is really bad response from the manager of this branch and definitely not worth the money and time.

I strongly suggest not to order from this branch.

They served eaten chicken bone in cauliflower 65. Just disgusted.if your vegetarian or if you care about hygiene.please stay away. I’m a loyal customer to this location for 10 years but this will be my last visit. I had put up with the consistent bad service all these years because of the food.
