Most horrible service.the waiters are very rude.
The closing time is 10.
They stopped dined service from 9.
A Punjabi Family of 10 came when we came.they were granted order.but we were denied.
I'll make sure none of my friends or family ever visits this place again!

Spoiled biriyani/rotten smell/$120 gone/disappointment on new year. I wanted to give 0 star for my experience. I have ordered small tray of mutton chukka biriyani on 31st dec for new year. It cost around $120. I ordered for my guest whom I invited for the new year party. I picked the biriyani around 7pm. When I opened the tray around 11pm, I had the rotten smell and complete tray of Biriyani has been spoiled. Since the restaurant was closed at that time, I called next day morning and raised the complaint. They asked me to bring the biriyani back and I clearly mentioned that I am living 100kms away, they said we will do some thing for you either replacement biriyani or refund the money back. I travelled almost 100km from Barrie to Mississauga and gave the full tray of biriyani. After few minutes, they said we can’t give refund for this as we get complaint only from you, not from any other customers. I don’t understand, how come they are so irresponsible and provided this unacceptable reply. At least they should have tell the same through phone. I travelled all the way from Barrie, really I got frustrated with their reply. They should have checked the food before giving to any customers. When customers is travelled 100kms to get the food from your restaurant, you should have provide good service. I am living in canada more than 5 years now, I never had this kind of worst experience from any other restaurants. Good that we ordered chicken biriyani from BBQ tonight (this biriyani was too good till next day evening) so we managed with that, else everyone will be in complete disappointment on new year. When customer is raising complaint, please learn to acknowledge that first and try to response them back politely. Pathetic restaurant, you spoiled the reputation of Anjappar. If it reaches to higher officials, please take this matter very serious. You will get similar review from my friends also since our new year has been spoiled because of you. Also please try to teach your management people how to handle the customers.

Authentic Chettinad food. While you can't compare the taste with their branch in Chennai, the taste is still good. So will commend them for that

Tried their Chef’s special Crab Masala & Elaneer Payasam. We also ordered Egg Biriyani, Parota, Mutton gravy, everything was delicious & very authentic.

We went for breakfast buffet. Food is fresh, good service. Taste is normal nothing exceptional. Coffee is delicious. Overall a good experience, we will repeat.

Suggestion to management: For$ 17 vegetarian buffet, Dosa masala can be made much better. It is very average. Dosa is one of the main thing people look forward to. If you make your dosa better I can guarantee your reviews will be the best.

Authentic South Indian delicacy. Suga presence to understand real india taste for customers and communicate accordingly is icing on cake.

The best Restaurant to revive your taste buds for South Indian food.
Dosa was served fresh and crisp, Chicken chatinad is just finger licking good.
Was extremely satisfied with every item I tried. Cheers to the chef for being extremely good at maintaining the authentic South Indian taste.

Food is very tasty. Definitely a must try indian restaurant. I have been going there for the last one and a half years. I am a vegetarian, and mushroom masala is a must try. I've never eaten mushroom gravy this good anywhere, even in india. I tried making similar at home but no success.

Most dishes are decent, however they are priced on the higher side.

The best dish I've had here is the crab one. It was amazing.

Two of the worst dishes - Mutton sukka biryani where you think you are eating mutton, and Egg dosa where there's some yellow colour on the inner side of the dosa with no hint of egg or its flavour.

After eating their egg dosa, I would like to fondly call them "Kanjappar".

Great place but heavily understaffed. They only have 2 servers/cashiers who are very nice and patient.

Expect long delays before you can order the food and expect even longer delays when you want to pay.

The food (dosa) served to us was filled with cold stuffing. Sambar was plain water with little bit of lentils and masala in it.
One masala dosa we ordered came without stuffing. It was served to us as plain dosa. On asking to return it and serve us the order we placed, we were asked to instead have some stuffing (masala) served and we can fill it in the dosa ourselves.
It was a shocking experience.

In one of my reviews I had made earlier, I had mentioned that this place was expensive for the quantity they served. I went for the breakfast buffet today, and I only paid 10.99$, which is cheaper than other places I've been to. The quality of food at other places (for buffet) is not that great. Whereas over here, every dosa served was crisp and fresh with that lovely ghee taste.

They had a good variety at the buffet table. They had Idly, Channa, Dosa, Chicken gravy, Coffee, Rasam, Sambar and so on. All the basic dishes from South India.

I would definitely come back to this place. Everything was good, from the quality of food to the pricing.

Unfortunately, I couldn't click pictures this time since I didn't really have time. The breakfast buffet closes at 12 pm and I reached there at 11: 35 am. I just went straight to stuffing my face with food. So, sorry about that.

They served coffee for breakfast as well, which was an added bonus. No place serves coffee or tea as part of their buffet menu.

I rarely rate any restaurant 5 stars, but I couldn't find any reason to reduce the rating. This took me down memory lane, it took me back to my days in Bangalore, India. The parotta is easily one of the best I've ever tried. I ended the meal with a tea which was perfect. 10/10 would recommend.

They took our order, made us wait for 25 mins and then came back to tell us that the ordered dishes are not available. Pathetic service. Am not going back.

I kept my promise and visited this place after a year- WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. Classic case of success gone way up in the head. For a crab soup and Rasam vada took 20 mins to get the order. Then, when the order finally came, the crab soup was all spilled over on the plate- had to get it changed. And the waiters dint apologize for the delay neither did they apologize for the untidy presentation. Its high time this place decides whether they are take out only or are willing to pay attention to their in dining customers. After asking for all the vaccination jazz and ID- getting served the way I was served was PATHETIC. NOW I AM DEFINITELY NOT coming back.

Will keep the original review and the second review so that people can see the stark difference- Classic case of Success gone way up the owner’s head. Disgusting.

Writing a late review because I miss eating at this place. Visited this lovely cozy restaurant in March 2020, just a day before the first lockdown started. The food I still remember the taste- it was mind blowing. I think I ended up ordering doubles of chicken lollipop, masala dosa and the mutton bone soup. It is reasonably priced and the service is attentive. The real fun is actually driving to this place and eating there. Once covid is done il surely be back!

Always having issue after having the food. Quality of Mutton fry is too low and we need to search the mutton pcs.

Would give excellent rating to this restrua but since it's a take away.can't say 5 star for sure but will update my review as soon as I go there in person. Food is amazing and authentic. Must try mysore masala dosa and Kara dosa.medu vada is also good. And very popular.the uthppam was a little heavy base but taste wise it was delicious. Tere coconut chutney and sambar are very good.

The quantity doesn't match with the price. It's too expensive not a fair price. There is No more buffet over here.

We ordered the mutton Sukka biriyani n chicken pepper fry. The biriyani was just okay and the chicken pepper fry was such a disappointed.hardly any pieces but tiny bits of chicken that we had to fish out along with tons of thick spicy gravy filled with peppercorns. I'm from the South of India and this was definitely not the pepper chicken we fondly remember. The curry was $18 for the gravy we received. Please live up to the name of the restaurant, Anjappar in Chennai is my fav! Toronto Mississauga branch was a real disappointment.

Pathetic masala stuffing in Masala dosa, Sambhar was like boiled daal, chicken biryani is not worth a penny, chicken lollipop is good. Staff is not at all cooperative. My baby was sleeping and i asked to give me sofa sitting arrangement but they denied and gave a chairs… Pathetic service and pathetic food except chicken lollipop

Food is great but had a miserable experience today when i ordered thru skip. Got a call from the restaurant server that they cant serve the potato masala separately if i order a masala dosa. Have eaten tens of tomes there and always got it separate. Seems some servers are out to ruin the restaurants service quality and image.
I would otherwise give a full 5star to the restaurant.

Nice food and service. It was a good experience. Masala Dosa was a little bland but vegetarian thali ands ghee Dosa were amazing.

The worst food experience We have ever had. I don't know why the call themselves South Indian Cuisine. Their dosas were not worthy. I would never recommend this place at all.

I used to order from this place multiple times a week. This was my go-to for food. I had seen hints of poor service when I would ask for an extra raita for the Biryani, but today was just pushing it. I had substituted raitha for chicken/mutton gravy, probably paid extra.when I went to the restaurant to pick it I asked if it is mutton, they said it is chicken but when I got back home and checked, they gave me a coconut veg gravy with potato and beans, and not only that, the box was not even filled.
Even after asking multiple times, they ignored what I had requested so many times, and to top it off, lied about what they had packed in the order, and even have less quantity than usual. Customer service here is horrible and the people don't care about your fulfilling an order you pay for!

Went here to get some good Indian food, heard from recommendations. The food is mediocre at best, and I over heard a old female (I assumed a supervisor) taking the waitresses tips. This lady had the nerve to take the other waitresses tips and gives them nothing. I felt like I was in a scene of Gordan Ramseys kitchen nightmares (ABC bakery episode). I will never go there again and I discourage anyone from going there as well. This is not right, waitresses depend on tips. Supervisors should be keeping their hand out of it. I will be reporting them to the labor board as well. This is disgusting practice.

Food was just ok. It was just like an average restuarant in India.
But no social distancing, no proper management.
It was crowded and no one was there to manage the queue.

Not Great Service. Very slow service. Been to few Anjappar locations quite frequently. Scarborough anjappar is my regular go to restaurant and the service is amazing. I don't know what went wrong to this restaurant but owner please take this as a "contructive critisicm". I want you guys to become great at what you do.

I would like you to compare the size of dosa and the masala that they gave with it. I had to call back the waitress to complain about the masala. To my surprise, she replied that this is how they serve the dosa.
P.s. I didn’t order a regular dosa. I ordered and paid for masala dosa. So, they should give appropriate amount of masala with it or you should just remove it from the menu if you can’t.

Dosas weren't as great as they used to be. Possibly the side effects of covid closures. Overall ambience and cleanliness needs an upgrade!

Food is ok. Service was not good at all. They are busy with their takeout orders so they delay the dine in food. They only had 2 servers doing everything. We were 6 people and when we ordered she said will bring food as it gets ready. We were ok with it. They got 3 peoples dosa and the dosa for other 2 people came after 15 min and 3 had already finished our food. It was ridiculous. When I asked she says it takes time to make the dosa as they have only 1 cook. Also ordered Kara dosa which is supposed to be spicy and asked them to make it extra spicy but they did not do that too. Infact the dosa had no spice at all and I feel I paid extra for that for no reason, same with Mysore masala dosa. Tasted just like regular dosa. So not worth the extra cost. So definitely will never go back there. Maybe will only order takeout as they are more bothered about those customers.

I have great experience at their Scarborough location. Happened to order takeout while in Mississauga. The order was messed up. Ordered Anjappar chicken masala and pepper chicken masala but turns out they had two of anjappar chicken masala. It ruined the experience and the taste was also not that great either. Will not go back at this location.

Amazing sea food and parothas. When ever I want to have chettinad style spicy prawns or crab, this is the place I go to. Do get the parothas as they are simply amazing. The service too is great. I accidentally over paid and left. The staff called back to inform me that I had over paid and that next time when I will go they will refund it back. Simply amazing service

Best chettinad briyani. It would be great if they use Seeraga samba rice instead of basmati though. Not many vegetarian options.

The food was excellent as usual. The customer service was amazing too. The appetizers were very late though.

My strong recommendation to visit this place if you want to taste South Indian (Tamilnadu) food. I went twice for buffet. You will get many veg and non-veg varieties and the most interesting aspect is you can even take unlimited dosas. Tamilnadu Dosa with Coconut chutney. You will get a feeling that you paid $15 to reach India and having dinner. Yes the price of Buffer is just 15$! And the restaurant people are very polite and gentle.

Liked the parotta with Chettinad chicken curry at this place. Really liked it. But the rest are not that good

Disinterested new waiters. Probably new cook as well. Ordered kara dosa which had minimal kara masala unlike other times. Coffee was not up to the mark. Told them. They didn't care and asked us what should they do instead of correcting the order
Asked for idli dipped in sambar, received separate idli sambar. No joy overall.

Non organized place. I was waiting in the que and gave me table to sit and than comes says you still have to wait, stand up. Are you serious guys you don’t know how many tables you have or you don’t know who is in the que first? Never coming back here

Food was great. Service, not so much. Many items we attempted to order were sold out. Restaurant could use a renovation. Door sensor was not working properly, so ended up emitting a loud "ding" sound every 5 minutes or so.

Tried paper masala dosa and medhu vada. Both were good. Though the quantity of sambar was really less.

The butter chicken was amazing, and definitely enough for 2 people. The service was friendly and wait time for food was very reasonable.

It is a very good and clean restaurant. Food is made fresh even for buffet. They have a different kind of small buffet but worth for money. It like parota they have in buffet but if they replace it with Naan I don't like it personally. Other than buffet it is very costly restaurant but good in quality though. The portion size is small too.

I’ve been to this place several times and they have the worst service ever. The employees don’t know to handles any complaint or issue. The place is really dirty and they served me this really dirty coke can.

The service was not good at all. We booked a table for 5 and we requested to be seated inside, the waiter denied saying that the cook and few others staffs are sleeping inside. We were okay and we started ordering for food after 20 minutes of wait time. When we asked for breads the waiter said they have nothing in breads section cause there was unexpected crowd in the morning hours. We just had to walk out.would never visit again

Very nice typical South Indian taste. Crab masala was the highlight. Nice big juicy meaty crab. Had orderer golden prawns which turned out to be prawns deep fried in besan instead of rava loosing on the fried crispiness. Overall excellent and prompt service.

This place is good for only South Indian food. Coffee is good.
Don't go for Biriyani, neither quality wise nor money wise it's worthy.

They ran out of the fish meal, the dosa was soggy. Chutney had no flavor, the shrimp meal was bland.

Visited this place on Sunday (March 31) for lunch. Ordered Chicken 65, Pepper Chicken Masala and Parotta. They apparently were out of Parotta, which is weird. How can you run out of basic bread on a Sunday? Their Chicken 65 was deep fried which is definitely not the right way to prepare it. The pepper chicken masala wasn't bad, but the Ceylon Parotta was a rip off for $8.99. The place is overpriced and when you pay 50 bucks for a meal for two, you expect a certain quality of food which isn't the case with this place. They do well because of lack of competition, not because of their food or service. At best its a mediocre restaurant with average service and below average food.

I got Chicken Biryani take-out today, and I have to say I have no idea why this place has a rating of 3.8. The dish was exceptional. I love biryani and have tried it at many Indian places, but the spices and the heat level is always too strong for me. This was perfect, and the price was pretty amazing too. Would definitely go in and try out more dishes here.

Horrible service. Has deteriorated like anything. Spoiled the whole day for me. Servers do not know how to behave with customers. Wanted to rate this -5 if there was an option. Avoid going at any cost.

Good place for a quick bite to eat. Usually have lunch buffet or can order from menu. Not a large selection to choose from for buffet but they do bring fresh dosa to your table.

Super spicy tasty! Was a little surprised that they closed kinda early (10 pm) on a Friday, but would come back again for sure.

I tried the fish meals and have to say that the curry was exceptional.

Quantity was a little on the lower size (given the $17 price), but flavour was authentic south Indian.

Service was decent and quick.

Will visit again.
