Annex Animal Hospital

I had an appointment for my puppy to get his shots.they cancelled the appointment without informing me of this change.i called and they told me somebody called in to cancel the appointment which i did not do.

Got my pet during the pandemic and they were so lovely. We couldn’t go inside (up until last summer) but took great care of him and loved him up when he got neutered and other appointments where I couldn’t be with him. They’d call me after his checkup to chat and are always so informative and patient with any questions! I feel like they care about my pet.

I had a wonderful experience taking my 12 year old boy Angus to Dr. Joanna Berman recently. Dr. Berman was extremely thorough and gentle with Angus. She was a great concise and clear communicator and knows her stuff. I am so glad I found her. Highly recommend her.

AAH is the best animal hospital I’ve been to in Downtown. Dr Berman takes really good care of my 2 kitties since they were young. Their price is fair, and they truly take responsibility for your pets, without pushing you to pay unnecessary bills.

Service is good. Receptionist is annoying. So I would deduce one star for it.

My suggestion is: IF YOU ARE NOT VET, THEN DO NOT DO VET'S WORK. THANK YOU.

FYI, whole neuter procedure cost me about 650+tax. Consulting~150, blood test~150, neutering~350.

If I could give 10 stars, I would! This was the first vet I've ever used with my own pet (cat), and I will never move to another. I called them a few days after adopting Pumpkin who had a really concerning eye infection. They got me in promptly, and she was treated like one of their own pets. I've been going to them for 3 years now, and each vet we see is amazing. The staff are kind, empathetic, transparent, and understanding. Each member of the team wants what's best for your pet - not what's going to bring them more money. After your visit, it's not like you are left to your own devices, they promptly reach out via email or phone to check on your pet, and ensure that you feel comfortable enough to ask even the silliest of questions.

Marianna at the front desk is my favourite part of calling/emailing/visiting. She is welcoming, kind, patient, and goes above and beyond in every (and I mean EVERY) interaction. She even knows pumpkin by heart. Marianna was an amazing help in moving my sensitive sweetheart to England when we encountered a last minute hiccup, and I already can't wait to come back so that we can see her again! If anyone with sway is reading this: she deserves a raise!

I used to visit this Clinic for my dog for the past 12 years. Doctors were nice and caring. However, this has changed, perhaps the pandemia left a mark. I was informed that there was no room to check my dog for a month. Although, I was a customer for 12 years. I was so disappointed that I started looking for a new vet, I found a new one close to my house. The Annex clinic was about 35 minutes drive. Compassion has abandoned this clinic, I never going back.

Cannot say enough good things about the Annex Animal Hospital - from day one (despite COVID and closed door policy) they were beyond welcoming, helpful and caring to our dog. On three separate occasions we have had emergencies with our pup and on every occasion they have been there to support us. The latest occasion happened two weeks ago when our dog was constantly licking her dew claw and playing shy with food. They did not hesitate to treat this as an emergency, knowing many times this is serious, they saw her immediately (within 3 hours of calling), assessed her and made sure she was ok. In the end it was nothing to be concerned about (phew) but the staff was very professional and again caring, without making us feel we were also exaggerating or being over cautious.

Our dog isn't the biggest fan of vets in general but we know every-time we take her to the Annex Hospital she is in the best place.

The vets here truly care and the staff are friendly. I know my pets are in good hands here and they are honest about when you can wait before doing potentially unnecessary tests or procedures.

I never feel rushed, and vets will call when they know your pets aren’t feeling well to check in and monitor. All in all 10/10!

*BEWARE* bought my 6 months puppy for her monthly checkup for her interceptor and braveto. She was only seen by one of their RVT. RVT continued to ask if we were going to spay her once we had said not right now she continue to prescribe Trazdone to my puppy. A bit worried that she had done this without the vet knowledge we had asked the vet to contact to answer our questions and concerns. When he did he only had knowledge of the dewarming and flea and ticks, when we asked why we received trazdone he became to shutter and couldn’t answer anymore questions. This morning speaking to my puppy original vet it came to our knowledge that only were they lying saying my puppy was seen by the vet in the office, but they changed her records so it matches their story. They are illegally allowing a RVT to prescribe medication without pet being seen and covering it up. RVT has already been reported to OAVT next will be the veterinarian clinic

I want to preface by saying there is one vet, Dr. Ferlisi who’s super sweet and genuinely cares about the animals she cares for, which I really appreciate. Other than her though, this clinic is not a good place. First of all, I know people who used to work there who have said it’s really chaotic and poorly run. Then there’s this one vet who I won’t name who tries to manipulate me into expensive and unnecessary procedures by saying my dog is dying when he’s clearly fine. If you’re taking your pet here, be really cautious of this. Also, if your pet has any anxiety whatsoever, DO NOT GO HERE! It is the opposite of a stress free clinic. When an animal is scared, they muzzle them and hold them down in order to get the procedures done, this creates a lot of stress pheromones that the other animals can smell as soon as they walk in there. I have never seen my dog as terrified as he is as soon as he enters annex animal hospital. He is not by any means an anxious or reactive dog, he’s usually very relaxed and easy going but when I take him to annex animal hospital he instantly starts jumping up on me, sneezing, shaking, quivering, growling… and that’s WITH the anti anxiety medication they prescribe him. I really don’t recommend this place to anyone.

There are simply no words to describe how glad we are to have found Annex Animal Hospital. Our rescue pup is *extremely* fearful of vets, or any procedures that involve handling (grooming, bathing, etc.). The groomers we have brought her to have been unable to work with her, and prior veterinary practices we have used have had a very difficult (sometimes impossible) time working with her.

We have never found, and could never expect to find, a practice that goes above and beyond to make our dog feel comfortable more than Annex Animal Hospital. Both the staff and the doctors are incredibly generous, kind, and caring toward both our dog and us. They have gone out of their way to build a relationship with our dog, and do their very best to create a positive experience for her while she is undergoing procedures.

The care taken by the doctors and staff to make our dog feel safe, even when undergoing procedures that are extremely stressful for her, is incredibly moving. They are also very skilled, able to carry out challenging procedures in a way that minimizes our dog's experience of stress in these challenging moments. Also, they are fully transparent, and no procedures are carried out behind closed doors.

Highly, highly recommended if you (like us) have a challenging dog, or even if you don't!
