Quaint fun place for a nice movie experience. Has several other small businesses running in the same building which's a nice vibe. We had an office event hosted here recently. Loved the ambience, and it has easy accessibility right in downtown Kitchener.

Apollo is a great little cinema, super friendly staff, awesome snacks & popcorn that is a reasonable price! Love watching movies at this small business in DTK, would highly recommend.

Seating is awesome with a table in between the seats and leg room!
They have different events like back to back movies - All 3 Lord of the Rings back to back, Breakfast & Cartoons etc.
Sometimes food, beyond popcorn etc, is catered.
Pop up markets featuring local folks.
Price point is excellent and they have a couple of different very reasonably priced membership plans as well.

I plan to go soon. I detest some of their responses to the reviews of customers who were refused service on the basis of their bodies. Absolutely crude and passive aggressive. I hope you've learned something

This place is great. It has interesting shows, including a lot of classic/older movies, great concessions (four all ice cream is my favorite), and friendly staff. Be aware that the last show of the night sometimes starts late for people to finish buying drinks and concessions

This is hidden gem movie theatre. Very nice ambiance with cleanliness. I had watched movie on Saturday afternoon.

Nice, big, clean, roomy, large screen cinema. A movie calendar full of interesting classics. Good selection of local beers that can be brought in to the theatre. Only downside is the plastic cups for beer.

They have decided to continue to contribute to the segregation of Canadians. Apparently they know more about the science than the scientists. Good luck

The charm within the walls of this theatre, are unparalleled. My daughter & I watched the Seven Samurai here recently, & it was a fantastic experience; it felt like the perfect cinematic experience.

Will be visiting again.

The Apollo Cinema, located in downtown Kitchener, is one of the best independent cinemas I have had the pleasure of watching a movie in. Going on a date? Make sure to snag one of the double seats with a table. Better to rest the tastiest movie theatre popcorn you'll eat (with a tasty local beer to wash it down). The screen is crisp, the sound impeccable. The staff are beyond friendly, and clearly love movies as much as those watching. Speaking of films, the Apollo is a place where you'll find something to watch regardless your tastes? Modern independent cinema? Blockbusters? Nostalgia screenings? All on offer. Not to mention wonderful special programming, like Saturday morning cartoons and cereal! A proud member in the past, in the present, and in the future.

This is my favourite theatre I’ve ever been to, and my favourite KW business period. They are such an upstanding part of the community, and play the best choice of films.
They have the coolest collaborations with other local businesses, like their mystery movie nights with the beat goes on and TWB and their galaxy quest beer they brewed with TWB. The mystery movie nights got me through the pandemic a little happier than I would have been otherwise and are some of my most cherished memories during this time with close friends both old and new! They also had a movie and market with so many creative and talented makers!
Their staff are genuinely the nicest, most fun, and creative group of people I have ever met that are so supportive and easy to talk to - and are great fun to chat about the movie with if they’ve seen it already!
I look forward to seeing them for my next film - whatever it is I know I’ll have a good time at the Apollo.

Good sized screen, comfortable reclining seats with armrests that get out of the way, polite and helpful staff, and great (older, arthouse, and independent) movies.

Large pop & popcorn = free refills, BUT concessions close 15 minutes after the last movie starts.

They have Dr. Pepper!

Theatre supporting merchandise is available - t-shirts, hoodies, pins, stickers, etc. Help support local business! T-shirts look neat

They also offer locally brewed beers & ciders, but I don't know if the wine is local or not.

Overall, it's a nice retro movie theatre that is a pleasure to go to.

Great people, covid safe establishment, fun vibes. Everything I want in a local theatre is right here. Best cinematic experience in Kitchener.

Always enjoy going to Apollo Cinema! It’s a great spot serving delicious drinks and showing awesome films (new and throwback flicks) as well as being a cozy and clean establishment. I would absolutely recommend this DTK gem!

My favourite cinema in Waterloo Region. Staff are always friendly and welcoming, and love the variety of events that they have going on throughout the year. I also really enjoy all the partnerships they have with other local businesses and how they support their local community. Such a gem in DTK

We have been going to the Apollo since they opened up and love having their crew as a part of our community. We enjoyed the retro films, Saturday morning cartoon / cereal events and Dinner and a Movies nights.
Having the Mystery Movie Nights during lockdowns was a lot of fun!

Best theater in town. Friendly staff, perfect selection of both new big budget films, independent films, and screenings of older classics. Excellent rewards for members, awesome selection of craft beers, can not say enough great stuff about this place. If you want to see a movie go see it here.

Apollo Cinema is an absolute gem. It serves a community of casual movie-goers and cinephiles alike. From the concessions to the theatre itself, the Apollo makes me remember why I loved going to the movies growing up.

I went to an Apollo cinema and it was by far the dirtiest movie theatre I’ve ever been to, there was gum stuck to the backs of the seat in front of us so we changed seats and our new seats had chocolate smothered into the chairs and ruined my jeans. One would think with covid the staff would keep things tidy and then they decide to keep the vaccine mandate and masks mandate in place. I think they should worry about keeping things clean and less about virtue signalling. I’ll never go to another Apollo theatre. #DISGUSTINGPIGS

Friendly staff, and the atmosphere takes me back to single screen cinemas from when I was a kid. Looking forward to getting back there again.

Popcorn pickup on Friday was awesome. Lots of beer and candy selection too. Looking forward to rejoining them in person for a movie!

Its actually a downstairs cinema which is so cool. The staff are so nice and friendly. I went to drop off this balloon wall and honestly felt like I could have chatted with Emily forever. Great group of people working here.

Awesome fabulous cinema! Not only do they serve booze at the concession stand (!), but they have their own super-cool merch AND they show cool old movies (like The Lost Boys) where the audience yells fun interactive phrases with the screen. I attended my first show there recently and will ABSOLUTELY be back for another one shortly. An absolutely amazing cinema! 11/10 recommend this place.

Staff is friendly and amazing. I'll never go to any other cinema, there can't possibly be anything better. Great beer, great popcorn, fun films. 1000/10, would enjoy again.

Love this venue, especially for classic films. It's just has a more of school feel than going to the monstrous multi plexes.

Also be sure to try the cookie dough. It's sourced from a local company.

Edit since going during covid:
Staff are working very diligently to sanitize and keep this place safe. Buy tickets in advance and select your seats. Seats are marked to stay vacant to allow for social distancing. You can feel safe here, knowing how hard everyone is working. I would give more than 5 star if I could. Great work Apollo

Wonderful staff; best popcorn around. Super clean theater and washrooms. Their digital projector is amazing! And the admission is super affordable.

One of the best theaters I've ever been to. Seriously puts Cineplex to shame. Local craft on tap, collaborations with local buisnesses, great selection of ridiculous movies, staff always seem like they're actually enjoying themselves.

A true gem. Not quite the arthouse cinema fare you would expect from the princess but more focused on film for film lovers. The classics played here are excellent, vary in genre for all tastes. The staff is wonderful. A large selection of seats have tables and more leg room than you can know what to do with. The theater is very spacious and I felt much safer seeing a movie here than at cineplex during this pandemic.

They did a great job keeping the theater clean and everyone separate to prevent covid spread. We had a great time and will definitely go back.

They show foreign, art-house and Sundance films not available at larger movie theater chains. Friendly staff and generally clean but place feels a little old and run-down.

This is one of those places that you want to tell everyone about, but hope nobody finds it because you want to keep it to yourself. Love watching movies from my childhood with my kids in a safe, fun environment. Love that the staff are as excited as we are to see the movies. Best movie theatre popcorn in town, hands down.

Apollo is my favourite cinema in the city! Comfy, welcoming and intimate, with delicious nibbles and a great film line-up!

Apollo is such an awesome local theater! There is a great variety of films, as well as themed nights (eg. Drunk Feminist Film Night), and the concession provides a unique variety of options not seen at conventional theatres! Plus there are free refills on large pop or popcorn which is awesome! A wonderful spot in DTK, definitely check it out!

This is my all-time favorite theatre. Only one screen, but they always get a few big hits every year. The staff are always friendly and they have great deals with Groupon! There are tables at some of the seats so you can buy and eat food prepared by nearby local restaurants.
The themes nights are super fun too, and it can get really busy during those times, but when it's your average weekday night, it's never too busy.

Greaat atmosphere, love the food and drink and swag, they host fun and engaging events and always show the best movies!

Its actually a nice quiet cinema tucked away in downtown kitchener. The screenings are quality and the seating is clean and spacious. The service makes the experience so good too.

This place is great for date nights! Their beer and cider selection is very nice and no matter whether you like bitter, sour or sweet, you'll find something you like. And the movies are always changing, a lot variety! And they always have cool events like free movies for members, drinking games night, marathons and many more! The popcorn taste just right, the staff is friendly, the chairs are comfortable and the table is just the cherry on top!
Membership is only $10/year and it comes with a lot of perks.
If you've never been, definitely recommend this palce!

The bathroom was DISGUSTING.

I went for the all day Lord of The Ring extended edition marathon (almost 14 hours) and it was an awesome experience. The chairs were big and comfy, and we had a table for our stuff. The aisles are big enough that you can walk by people without them having to squish in, like at other chain theatres.

Loved the spacious seating with tables! Great craft beers on tap and creative special event nights!

I love this place. Comfy seating with a table to share plus you can have a drink if you choose. And inexpensive night out.

Today we were at an event with our babies, that can be a chaotic enough event as is, the manager assisted us with an issue we had with ease and composure that is so rarely seen in customer service. I cannot thank her enough for what she did for us to make our experience great at Apollo!

Great little theater to see the movies you missed when they were in the big chains. People are there to actually watch the movie. No phones or chatting during the movie.

I think it's all Christie technology so the video and sound is really good. It's not my preference, but I can actually watch 3D movies at this theater and not leave with a headache.

Huge amounts of leg room, it's almost impossible to kick or bump the seat in front of you. Little table to set down your beer or treats.

They do some really great mini festivals and show some great older movies from the 80s and 90s.

Only knock, I'd get a membership if they went digital and kept a record in case you lose your card.

THE BEST. Live everything about this cinema. I have had a membership for 2 years now (which pays for itself after just a few shows!), and wish I could go more often. They have great events of all varieties and show fantastic movies regularly as well! Great popcorn and drink options (And prices), friendly staff and just a wonderful community.

Lovely neighborhood independent cinema with good tastes (in both beers and movies). Seats are super spacious and some even have a small table in front.

Love the Apollo! They play a great variety of movies, and have hands-down the best popcorn I've ever had at a theatre. Plus, the seats at the back have little tables to lay a beverage/snack on, which I think is genius.

Great place if you're interested in watching old school movies, from the 80s and 90s, as well as anime, horror and small independent, foreign movies.
