Service was absolutely brutal this time around. Took forever to get everything and for what you pay it wasn't worth the hassle even if the food is always great.
Always delicious! Whether it's delivery or dine in, it's never a disappointment. Check out their menu and try it out. Always hot and fresh. Suhish is always fresh.
There are other all you can eat places, but this is by far one of my favorites in Durham.
I highly recommend this place, give yourself a treat and enjoy.
It's a decent price for the amount of food you get, but do your wallet a favor and order direct from them and pick it up. You're going to pay $2-4 more per dish just for using SkipTheDishes/UberEats or other food order apps.
All I can say is the food is usually great, staff is super friendly and always welcoming. Love their parrot fish aquarium as you walk through the restaurant, been here on multiple occasions and would highly recommend.
This used to be my favorite sushi place but it has been going downhill lately. The panko in the spicy crab Maki rolls was stale and chewy tonight and the garlic steak which should be quick stir fried to sear the outside but rare inside was practically steamed and over cooked, even the garlic was mushy instead of crispy. Prices keep going up but food quality is going down.
My gf and I have made this “our spot” for years now, love the food. The service here is top notch, very friendly. It’s hard to believe it was once an Arby’s. Looking forward to the next time we go.
The selection has improved over the years! But I guess that went hand in hand with their price hike as well. None the less. Quality is good and food is fresh and the waitress is great!
My partner and I used to come here every weekend and we loved the service, the food and the price. They increased the price and removed the option of drinks included without mentioning it anywhere. So we were surprised when we went to pay. Not happy.
Today we went because we were craving sushi and wanted to support them since we haven't been in years and wanted to give them a second chance. Sad to say I or my partner will NEVER be coming back. They increased the price AGAIN making it double what it was before. They AGAIN didn't mention a price increase or even show the price on website or at establishment.
It is a shame. We were hopeful in giving them a second chance but won't ever be coming back.
Oh well. Lesson learned.
PS: if you plan on charging that much for sushi.at least make it good sushi and not subpar. We miss the old Asia Express.
Delicious, fast and reasonably priced. They came to check on us numerous times to make sure we had what we needed and were happy. We eat here every few years on our way through and always enjoy it. Thanks guys!
The food was fantastic, all you can eat, try the Spicy Girl rolls. Service was friendly and welcoming within a quaint comfortable setting. No wonder theyve been here for over 10 years.
My mom got the sweet and sour chicken and there was a piece of a steel wool sponge she felt inside while she was chewing it. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone because we were disgusted.
Worst Asian I've ever had. 15 dollars for a bowl of over cooked tasteless general tao, and the chicken rice.might as well have just had some plastic. Probably would have more taste.
Absolute horrible workers there, chicken was not cooked properly and was rubbery, probably from it being old.got ill while still dining and they only told me they could do a 10% discount IF i paid cash. Couldn’t do anything for for the poor quality of the food and made every excuse to dismiss the poor quality of the food. Told me that if I didn’t want to pay then to go to the hospitals and get a test for food poisoning. Paid $50 to eat 4 yam rolls and get sick. Never again.
If you love ambient temperature sub par sushi, come here! At only $35 per person, you too can leave feeling hungry after dining all you can eat for fear of food poisoning. Enjoy!
EVERY SINGLE TIME we order from this place, it takes over an hour to get to us. We never learn our lesson! Will NOT be ordering again. It's not worth it.
This was the first time ordering from there. The food itself tasted good. However me and my partner both got food poisoning and were sick all night. Unfortunately I will not go there again.
I ordered a sushi burrito and salmon lovers.the burritto was alright until i bit into something that was not chewable but was fish.my mouth told my brain immediately something was wrong.gross.
The food looked and tasted great - however, me and my partner both got extremely sick from it. Both of us were on the verge of being sick within 2 hours of eating it and neither of us had even eaten the whole plate. Great taste but not worth it.
Been here many times, and has greatly improved over the past few years. The menu is varied so there is something for everyone. If you like asian food then I would reccomend this place.
This is our new asia / sushi buffet. Lots of variety, and the bring you small portions. Like 4 piece rolls, which gives you more room to eat different rolls. Their asian chef cuisine is very good with lots of variety as well. Love the Ipad ordering, nothing is missed like the hand written ones. Staff is very pleasant.
This was my first time to an all you can eat restaurant that you ordered on ipads and had the dishes brought to you. I was very impressed with this unique idea. Perfect for the covid times we are experiencing right now. There was a huge selection on the menu and the food was served quickly and was fresh and hot. It was delicious and we were happy with all the dishes that we ordered. Great concept and delicious food! Staff was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely go back again!
This restaurant discriminates against fully vaccinated American residents and refuses to allow Americans to dine in, even with proof of vaccination from the US.
Got takeout & I personally didn’t like it very much. Ordered sushi. The food has kind of a weird taste to it that I can’t explain which was a little off putting. Also wish I knew the sushi burritos had lettuce packed into them as well.iceberg lettuce inside sushi does not make for a very good flavour/texture, but that’s my fault for not reading the description properly.
First time ordering from Asia Express and was not impressed. The sushi was very good. No complaints there. Beef with black bean sauce on dry noodle was extremely disappointing. Beef with black bean sauce came in a separate container from the noodles. Noodles container looked like they took a pack of noodles off the shelf from the grocery store and dropped it into the container. Assembly required apparently. No big deal. Poured the meat and sauce on the noodles and waited. Took a bite a few minutes later and there was no flavour. Sauce was watery. Beef had no taste. Will not be ordering that again. Will give another chance though.
We ordered takeout through Uber Eats and the staff were rude when picking up our order. The plain almonds and diced vegetable dish looked and tasted like it was a day old. The spring rolls tasted like a barn. The chicken fried rice was sub-par. The general Tao chicken was the only thing that was average. Overpriced for the quality of food.
Went for inside dining and they were as great as I remember. Love their new I-pad ordering machines. Keeps down contact between everyone. Never been there? GO!
My partner and I used to come here every weekend and we loved the service, the food and the price. They increased the price and removed the option of drinks included without mentioning it anywhere. So we were surprised when we went to pay. Not happy.

Used to go there a lot, but I’m pretty sure today will be my last time. My friends and I all went out for all you can eat, and we split the bill 2 ways (2 per person) and both bills were around $90, for two people each. Not thrilled. They also hadn’t let us know about how the prices increased like crazy. But we all agreed that we’re not coming back again.
I ordered here through uber eats. I wasn't a big fan of the service as the woman working was not very pleasant. No hellos, pleases or thank yous here. I didn't know what my uber eats order number was and for some reason I was denied the basic expected courtesy you'd get at any other place of business. My order was literally the only one sitting on the counter. The food was decent, nothing to write home about but was decent. I wouldn't recommend this place as it's your run of the mill sushi joint and with below par service; Go spend your hard earned money somewhere else where they at least say hello.
Ordered the curry bowl it came cold, also did not come with rice or noodles. There was no vegetables in the vegetable curry. I talked to a lady there and she was very very rude will never order from these people again
Sushi was great and tastes fresh. Fried rice on the other hand was really hurt by the clearly frozen vegetables medley they hear and mix in. I'll be back for the sushi but not the rice.
For the price, our sushi was tiny and they really skimped on the fish in our rolls. I spent $50 on an order, and it honestly had the smallest rolls I've ever seen. Also our order was for four people and they only gave us one fortune cookie. We were unimpressed
This spot gives great service as well as delicious meals. My favourite place in the city. The drinks and food came out rapidly and the prices were inexpensive. Highly recommended.
Just paid $40+ NOT to eat there. I knew they would argue me with a refund so I just paid and left. Overly disrespectful, terrible service, overcooked/hard food.
For 14.99 you get 3 rolls of your choice, miso and a salad! Generally these type of deals they make the rolls smaller but this place gives you large peices along with a large amount of fish. Ordered from there a few times no issues!
This was my favourite place to go. I really liked the server. Hadn't gone in a while so I came back but this time I didn't order all you can eat. They treated me completely different since I was ordering just a meal from the menu. Trying to order a sherbert was hell. They got it wrong, angrily brought back a new one, charged me for a watered down honeydew overfilled with tapioca. I could hear them infront of me complaining about the order change. Chicken was too overcooked and hard to eat. I was so disappointed I cried. The server brought me back the bill $41.10 for bad service and bad food. The server feeds off people's pain.
Asia Express is my go to sushi joint in Whitby. The service is fast and friendly and the food is well presented and very tasty. Great place for lunch or dinner.
Very disappointed. The food was very bad. Ordered ginger onion chicken and told them to make it spicy. It was not spicy and the chicken smelled bad too.called & complained with them immediately but no proper response.had to throw the food out.
We used to love this place but since they updated the space, added tablets for ordering, and raised the prices too much has changed and it is not so great any longer. They have changed the menu and reduced serving sizes. Maki rolls used to be 6 pcs, now only 3, so you have to order more and they are much smaller now. Won tons used to be 5 pcs now down to 1 pc! Tempura shrimp was 2 now 1. Many items are no longer on the menu such as hot and sour soup and chicken udon noodles. New sushi maker is far too slow. Only a few tables with people and we waited 40 mins for some sushi and maki rolls. Need to find a new favorite.
The sushi is all I had at this particular time which was quite good! (I had only salmon ones). I did also order the Vegetable ramen BUYER BEWARE! It is not vegetarian at all they use pork broth I am anaphylactic to pork (and beef and chicken) I had a few bites and my throat got itchy instantly. I asked the waiter what the broth was and she said it is vegetable but not the broth the broth is pork. I said I'm allergic, and she said okay thank you.
Great food and staff. Their smoothies are awesome. All you can eat is a great value, but also their regular sushi dishes are great prices. Clean place, friendly staff, good prices. The parking lot is all on angles, so make sure you sent your emergency/parking brake, and be prepared to get a calf workout.
Have been going here for quite some time but my last experience will definitely be just that. Waited 1hr and 23minutes after the 30min suggestive wait time. Did not even apologize or anything, told me it was my fault and I should be prepared for this. Let's keep in mind there was about 7 workers I saw, 3 guests dining in and 2 customers who came and go for takeout, not exactly busy or anything compared to usual. Also this was a 2hr wait time for 3 6piece rolls. Will never return again as the service is quite poor now and the wait time for such minimal amount of food is totally not worth it. (had to wait because they flat out refused a refund and I didn't even really want the food after 1hr into my wait to be honest but also didn't wanna lose out on the money I had just spent for it) restaurant employee also refused to acknowledge that they are responsible for order accuracy aka the suggested time you give us which was never wrong before by THIS much and when asking for the manager, there was no manager on duty conveniently enough for her. NEVER pay before your order is complete, they don't like refunding even when they clearly mess up.
The selection has improved over the year! But I guess that went hand in hand with their price hike as well. None the less. Quality is good and food is fresh and the waiter is great!
I am never ordering from this restaurant again. I have been ordering from this restaurant for over a year and a half usually using skip the dishes.
I just recieved my order and I am horrified. The pineapple fried rice was disgusting. The rice was not fried, it was cooked. It looks as though they threw rice, some bits of chicken and some bits of peppers and pineapple together and packed it up for delivery. I never tasted anything so terrible.
I ordered a chicken pad 2 and recieved shrimp, which looked better than the fried rice, so we decided to eat it anyway. Half way through the shrimp pad sew we discovered a black hair. I instantly lost my appetite.
The reason I am not bothering to call in the complaint is because of the previous reviews from other customers disclosing their bad experiences with the staff members. There is clearly no point in calling this in because the restaurant does not seem to care about their customers and their well being.
I am extremely disappointed definitely do not reccomend.
DO NOT BUY! Workers are EXTREMELY RUDE, they mischarged me and didn’t give me a receipt and even though I was right there would not fix it, told me don’t take the food then, Food is POOR QUALITY, WORST employees, I used to come a lot now I will tell every one I know to never go there.
Been to this place only once. The food there was below average. Ordered salmon rolls and tuna rolls with original bubble tea with no ice. I do not recommend this place, the food does not appear fresh and the drink was watered down to no flavour, very artificial. It was around 5: 30pm I wanted to order the lunch bento box but it was not worth the value, they asked for an additional $3 on top of the lunch bento box price because it was dinner time but the portion remains at lunch portion size. Does not make sense to pay extra.
The food is rather good and the iPad is easy to navigate and has nice pictures give a good indication of the items. The area and washroom are clean and the prices are comparable to any other all you can eat.
The service, however, is sub par. My water was never refilled unless I expressly asked, I was not given ginger with my sushi unless I expressly asked. I was the only person in the restaurant so this was baffling.
Otherwise, I'd eat here again. The food is good and some of the dessert items are unique to this restaurant. The mango yogurt and oreo moose are particularly tasty.
The quality of the food is in severe decline. I have experienced it during dining in and recently through Skip the Dishes. Ordered their Beef Cop Suey only to get rancid rotten meat cooked and disguised as an edible meal. How are they not concerned about public safety and their reputation as a business. So sad, they would continue to serve tainted meat way past a best before date, all to save a buck. I had experienced it before during an all you can eat lunch but thought it was a one off incident. Straight to the garbage to avoid illness. To add insult to injury. I called the restaurant thinking they would be horrified or concerned. Nope, was told I have to take it up with Skip the Dishes. No apology, Nothing. Dead silence on the phone. Which leads me to believe this is a regular occurrence. Never again will they see my money. #refund #disgusting #guaranteed
Updated Review: May 29 Visit - been a year since we stopped going here. Yesterday we got sentimental and gave another try. Did not dissapoint! $. New staff, new Sushi Chef. Food was on point 5 Star.
