Assumption Catholic Cemetery

Each of the stars is for my immediate family members; my mother, grandfather, grandmother, a few distant aunts and cousins and family on my mother’s side. I’m also pleased to see they redid the garden and monument beside her gravesite. I wish they would add some trees and more flowers. Being beside the airport it’s disturbance of peace every three minutes with jets overhead and 16 wheel trucks rattling /screeching. It is windy and cold. The land is flat and barren. Cemeteries in Toronto are filled with various trees and shrugs and flowerbeds. You are allowed to plant around your family members grave. It’s all done tastefully and respectfully. There are animals (even as basic as squirrels and birds). In contrast, here, it’s only plastic items, wrapped in plastic- reminding you that, there, everything and everyone around you is dead.

I want to share how dissatisfied and disappointed myself and my family felt during the whole process. We were grieving the loss of my mother and they were many things that were not done properly. On her prayer cards her name was spelled wrong, the wrong church was also on the cards. The guest book arrived late as well. Pictures were not put up in the church. Very little communication between the clients and funeral directors of what is happening the day of funeral. It was very sloppy and disorganized. I really wish we went to a smaller funeral
home that values people’s feelings during the hardest moment of their life. It’s very expensive and it’s just a business that has very little care of a persons loss. I would recommend going to a smaller funeral home that will give you the care and compassion people deserve.

The manager Did call and we spoke and he tried his best to rectify the situation and we received a refund for some services. I appreciate that.
