Astoria Shish Kebob House - Danforth

I was dining in with my boyfriend one night, and I was not impressed with the food. The salad was okay, but when we received our souvlaki dinners, there was a hair on the tzatziki. We pointed this out to the waitress, and she took my plate away.
When she came back, it looked like they just removed the area that had the hair on it. I just stuck it out and ate the food. I only received 4 pieces of pork and it was tough. The rice and potatoes were pretty good, but I wish they had balanced out the portions of each item.
Honestly, I was happier with the atmosphere of the place rather than the food and the service. This will be my first and my last time visiting this restaurant.: (

We have been dining in at Astoria for many years - clean and welcoming atmosphere with a family feel! As soon as you walk in, you feel as though you’re walking into a Greek household. The food is excellent and we had the pleasure of being served by Dina. She was kind and pleasant, and our experience overall amazing. Highly recommend the flaming cheese and chicken souvlaki dinner with tzatziki. The mousaka (not pictured here) is also a delicious Greek staple.

Was really unimpressed with Astoria. The place lacked any sort of atmosphere, we were seated in the corner away from the main area and felt a bit neglected. The food is on or below par, feels like something you’d get at a fast food Greek place, but at premium prices. The beef souvlaki was tough and completely lacked flavour. Will not be returning.

Service was good, food tasted like a hotel buffet that had been sitting out all day. Won't be back

First off when we first walked in there was noone so that already wasnt a good impression for a sunday night.not only was the food absolutely un edible but i almost lost my life in there eating that rubbery calamar as it got wedged in my throat and i had to wash it down with nothing better than some tap water.dont even get me started on that garlic tzatziki.my mouth tasted like garlic for days after that and all in all everything was gross, how do you mess up fries? Dont go here youre better off getting mcdonalds.the vampires are laughing watching the customers walking out of there eating that disgusting garlic tzatziki.

First time I’ve been here and it was lovely. I went with my friend and we both enjoyed ourselves. I don’t have much experience with Greek food but this was very delicious. The chicken and pork souvlaki was seasoned and cooked perfectly. We both got 2 of each and shared. The tzatziki wasn’t like traditional tzatziki with cucumbers but it was delicious. The dolmades were good tho they taste good from the can too and are cheaper. For the mains with both got calamari. She got the fried and I got the grilled. The fried tasted better but I’m glad I got to try the grilled. It was reasonably priced for what it is. The sides were savoury and rice and baked potatoes. Both were good but nothing groundbreaking.
The server was very nice and attentive. Very happy with the service.
Also as a side note the washroom was very clean and actually smelled nice, doesn’t happen often for a public washroom lol
All in all i had a great experience and I would go again.

Dina was our waitress and she was wonderful! Thank you so much. We loved the garlicy taziki and saganaki as well as the souvlaki and roasted potatoes. It was a lovely dinner.

This place used to be good. Now, the food is mediocre at best and the service is subpar. The prices are too high for the quality. I would not recommend it.

Sadly Astoria is not what it once was. The food in now just "okay, " the prices are on the high side and the service is not even close to adequate.the waiter my wife and I had was indifferent.

Several items (Greek beer, Merlot wine, etc.) on the menu we not available. I even heard from another table the waiter say they didn't have chocolate milk, which is also on the menu. This shows how inept Astoria's current management is. When you charge the prices Astoria is charging you expect a reasonably good dining experience, which was the case years back, but no longer.

Given that Astoria is in Toronto's Greek town, there are many much better Greek dining options close by, which I suggest you take advantage of.

Had great service from our server Dina, who was quick and efficient and friendly! Checked in on us just enough to not be bothersome but well taken care of. Food was delicious as well.

I love the moussaka dinner here. And their Greek salad is my favorite. Also I love the ambiance… the staff are always very friendly and attentive and make you feel so comfortable, like family. Today’s server was DIna and she was awesome!
She made me feel like I knew her my whole life.
Stefanos was also helping and he was very funny and entertaining. It’s a very lively vibrant place on a Saturday night & everyone is has lively conversations & lots of good vibes & happiness in the air. It’s one favourite greek restaurants on the danforth.
I come back always! I often do takeout, but I prefer to sit in.

Awesome visit ahead of the game. Great service provided by Dina! Food was great and will look forward to the next visit!

Still a good place for Souvlaki.

The service was very cold and unfriendly. The food was even worse. Barely any seasoning was used at all and you can tell they use cheap cuts of meat, and small portions. I wouldn’t eat here again, even if someone else was paying.

Food was reasonable - not the best I've ever had but also still good enough, the atmosphere was very nice, but the service was lacking significantly. The staff seemed frazzled and I had to ask for our bill for almost half an hour before it came

Looks Arabic but it’s actually Greek, very deceiving until you realize it’s in Greek town. Left without ordering but servers were nice

Paid $30 plus for lamb chop on uber eats for 2 pieces of lamb.

$40 for a "large" beef souvlaki that came in a small white container.

Definitely a rip off for the price.

I’ve never seen this ridiculous behaviour from any restaurant management. I suppose that he was the manager or owner of restaurant his behaviour completely unbelievable. I never recommend to anyone.

Has been my fav place for years! This is my dinner spot when on Danforth 5-10times a year. Having said that my last visit the pla e is looking run down prices seem to have really spiked and food quality dipped. The salad seems to have no dressing no flavor at all.
