Food was average but you can't expect much since it's ayce. The sushi was really stuffed with a lot of rice other than that it was well seasoned. The dim sum was meh, I wouldn't reccomend their dim sum but it's not bad if you're new to dim sum and want to try out dishes.
It was quiet until it got busy then an employee decided to vacuum randomly so it was pretty loud and it interrupted my dining experience.

Average at best. The sushi itself is disastrous and disappointing, I honestly want a full refund. The service was good, the miso soup and salmon (only one) was good, everything else was so bland and mid. Wouldn’t recommend or go back wasted $150 and we feel sick. Never coming back here wish I never went.

This restaurant is great for all you can eat sushi. My expectations around all you can eat sushi is on quality, freshness and generosity with both portion size and sushi to rice ratio. Everything hits well, and it’s a good atmosphere to bring a few friends. Service tip of 15% is included in the end so you don’t have to tip. That said, it’s on the slightly pricier side compared to the other places, but certainly worth it.

The service at August 8 was impeccable. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations and ensuring we had a fantastic dining experience. The attention to detail did not go unnoticed.

The best all you can eat restaurant! The sushi and dim sum taste better than other a la carte restaurant and I was never expected. You must order tataki, the sauce is so good. Each portion of the dish is small, so that you can taste different dishes. I definitely would come back!

Being there a couple of times with friends and wife, really cool place! The food is delicious, the wait time for food is almost nothing, and the service is really good. Today Simon was my server and he was amazing, best attention ever! Definitely coming back!

After being regulars of Spring Sushi, me and my boyfriend are now converted to August8! Better quality and better selection of sushi. Same iPad ordering system and food arrives fast. Their sushi rolls only come with 4pcs instead or 8, which is a good thing because you can order more of different options than getting full right away. I also love that their are more dessert options and unlimited ice cream as well. The dimsum is not the best dimsum out there but I like that it’s included in the AYCE.

My favorite items were the salmon sashimi, scallop sashimi, queen roll, the deep fried shrimp wonton surprisingly had really fresh shrimp inside, the ice creams and other desserts.

Went here for birthday lunch and decided to try lunch menu ($27.99 per person). We ordered different sushi and rolls, dim-sum dumplings with shrimp and pork+shrimp - really liked it! I’ve also tried taco with eel - absolutely loved it, very juicy. Bun with BBQ pork - one of my favorites! It was Thursday so I’ve ordered Peach Daiquiri for additional $5.99 - I didn’t taste any alcohol, it was more like an iced juice but it was nice. The service was good, everyone was really friendly and we got our orders really quick. The ladies washroom was gross though, even mosquitos were flying in there. I would like to go to this place once again but maybe in a different location.

After 150 scrumptious mango pudding orders i trudged down towards the atm in order to retrieve some paper in order to wipe my mouth with.unfortunately, they only took credit and cash so I could not use my 5* debit card with 40 thousand dollars in it to pay for the meal.sadly, i went without anything to wipe my mouth with that night.

You guys expected too much from the customers. The customers next to me left not so much money for tips and the manager talked s.about them right after they turned their backs. How about they don’t like your food? Still expect 20% for tips? Haha hopefully my 12% was enough for that attitude

Yesterday, I saw an argument between manager and their employee while I was having my lunch. Actually, my lunch was ruined because of them and I feel disappointed about the way they treat their employees. So I will never come back again even though your meals are good.

Loved our first experience here! Very friendly staff, cool service and amazing food. Prices are super reasonable and food is so delicious! I’ve never had this style of sushi before and was pleasantly surprised by how rich the flavours are. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to others! Uwu

My first time there and I was pretty impressed with their selection at dinner time. A little pricier than your typical AYCE, but they serve sushi as well as dim sum which sets them apart from other places. The tacos are a great menu item and a must try!

They were very efficient and maintained physically distancing protocols as expected.

The only thing I wish they did was add ice to the drinks. We had to ask for ice for our waters each time. Other than that, the place is great and would definitely come back, but maybe for the lunch prices.

This is the first time since COVID-19 I come back, they opened dine-in with social distancing policies. Again, the food is great as always, fresh and smooth, delicious?
The staffs are efficient and helpful. I came on a rainy night and get cold inside, they’re willing to turn off the fan to comfort their guest! Love it!

Ordered for pick-up on Ritual, worst attention to the customer. My order was sitting for 15 minutes and they didn't even ask my name to confirm if that was my order. Shame.

Good food but compared to some other restaurants, it has less variety. Has student discount but no senior discount, maybe due to the location but would appreciate a senior discount as well. Has the right atmosphere but the location is. Ok. Not sure why they don't have sashimi options, or is it because we went there at lunch time.

I was always a loyal supporter of August 8 since days of their first restaurant in Hamilton. I went back to the restaurant immediately after they announced they reopened the dinning room. The food was of good quality as before, my biggest criticism was their practice of social distancing their customers. We are a group of 2 and we called in for reservation prior, however, when we stepped into the restaurant the waitress was trying to place us immediately a table behind another pair of customers. We politely declined and suggested another table which was farther from other parties. HOWEVER, 30 MINS into our seating time they placed a group of 6 customers immediately beside us! This is unacceptable practice of social distancing, especially that group was a friend gathering so they were talking endlessly possibly exposing us to covid-19 droplets.

I have no idea how do they make money during lunch time. For 20$ you will get a buffet and everything tastes really good. Great quality/price ratio. Definitely recommend.

I've been to this place several times now and it's become my go to ayce sushi place in the city. Reasonable price, attentive service. However certain items seem to lack in consistency in quality; the curry squid tastes different at every visit while it's one of the reasons I kept going back. So good when cooked perfectly with lots of ginger in the soup. Awkwardly I like the taco sushi here.

Best all you can eat sushi and dim sum in Toronto. Super fast service, consistently good, great place to eat with friends and family.

Excellent service and excellent choice of menus. Loved it. Will come back again. The green tea ice cream was a pleasant surprise.

Not terrible. Not great. Neither is it memorable. Quality has greatly gone down since its opening. Will try it again in a year to see if quality has changed.

The sashimi is FAT and THICK, ordered too much so ended up wasting a bit of food.only one thing that’s kinda weird is the handroll - too much rice in it but other than 30$ for dinner menu with student discount WORTH IT?

I am from India and was my first time trying some new dishes and these recipes met my expectations and over all good experience and kind of new one and food is worth trying. Everything is ordered from an iPad and this new tech is exiting and staff are lovely and friendly.

Coming from the West Coast, I have struggled to find high quality sushi. In particular salmon. I went to August 8 this evening and I have to say, I am very happy with the diversity and quality of their menu. Everything was delicious. I will be back

Lots of variety and great location, but you can find better quality fish in other all-you-can-eat restaurants. Okay dinner choice.

Even though I live closer to Yong-Dundas square which is already home to several AYCE joints, I still go out of my way to Chinatown to visit August 8!

They have an above average selection relative to order-by-tablet AYCE places. Additionally, they offer dim sum which is a huge boon because I only know of 2 other places that mix sushi and dim sum together (August 8 is priced better). The sushi did not particularly stand out, but I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the appetizers (shrimp rolls, salmon, etc.). The fried rice was not greasy, and by virtue of being different, it was definitely better than the typical oily fried rice you get from other AYCE establishments. Since my initial visit, they've discontinued the black custard buns. This saddens me a little bit because that was my favorite dessert item and it was leagues better than the original white custard bun.

The biggest thing that August 8 has going for it is definitely the speed and quality of service. In the 3 times I have visited, they have not forgotten a single thing that I've ordered. Although my visits were during lunch hours, all the other AYCE places I've gone to have let me down to some extent in terms of remembering everything. Very impressed by this statistic!

My first impression while dining with 1 other person was that the table itself felt cramped since the tablet took up a HUGE amount of space with the way it was propped up. Thankfully, the speedy service of the staff counteracted this because they were REALLY on top of clearing plates from your table even when the restaurant wasn't too busy. I've been to places like spring where they let your plates stack and it's somewhat embarrassing to order until they start clearing your table. The speed is the most important factor for me which is why August 8 ranks close to the top among my personal favorite AYCE places.

I strongly recommend August 8 to anyone who appreciates AYCE dining. They stand toe-to-toe with KAKA due to superior service, and they offer versatile high quality dining by having both good sushi and dim sum options. It's money well spent!

I love this place! It is a bit pricey ($19.99 for lunch and $29.99 for dinner), but the food and speed of service is great. They have a lot of options including sushi tacos and pizzas. The mango ice cream here is amazing, so I would definitely recommend ordering that. I think it's cool how they combined sushi and dim sum, so you get to try some of each. This place can get pretty busy in the evening, so it's best to go early to get a seat. I've been here twice already and will definitely go back!

I visited for a media night and had a chance to try the food. I was very happy throughout the visit. The portions were perfect and there was a wide variety of options. I love that we order the food through the iPad. The service was very good. I recommend August 8 AYCE.

Amazing selection of sushi for an all you can eat place! The service is great as well. The prices are reasonable for all you can eat ($20+ for lunch and $30+ for dinner) and students (with valid id) get 10% off when paying with cash.

They have a great selection of AYCE sushi as well as dimsum. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Came here for my birthday with a large group and everyone enjoyed themselves. They do get quite busy especially on weekends so I recommend making a reservation especially if you're coming with more people.
