I went on Jan 2, it’s not holiday but got holiday charged. They don’t have any good reason, they just said holiday price until 7 Dec

You should let customer know about the price when call for reservation or walk in.

Excellent service, fresh flavours as well. Seaweed salad had a great bounce and dressed well. Miso soup is always a win for me. I love the spicey tuna roll the panko shrimp could have been served warmer but over all great experience. Thank you staff

Poor service, very rude. Food is mediocre. Save time and go down the street to Sapporo where the food and service are much better.

My husband and I met up with family for dinner at this location. Once we sat down my husband started drinking his water and noticed lipstick on the glass. When I brought it to the attention of the first server he looked at me and acted like it wasn't a big deal. This is major health and safety problem. We dont know who was drinking out of that glass before my husband. That person could have had cold sores, covid or a bacterial infection for all we know, and their negligence towards health and safety just potentially exposed my household to it. He then went and got another server who when she came over I showed her and expressed how bothered we were and she acted like it wasn't a big deal and asked what I wanted her to do. I replied with that I wanted my husband and I to choose our service fee (tip) as we were being charged 18% for being a part of a large group. I find this to be a reasonable request, considering they could have just exposed my household to a variety of infections due to their poor service. The server then accused our table of trying to "hustle" them because apparently before my husband and I arrived at the restaurant, someone had asked about the service fee, unbeknownst to us. This is where she then offended everyone. No one at that table was wearing lipstick. Whether or not someone had asked about a service fee before my husband and I arrived does not take away the fact that you gave my husband a dirty glass, that he then drunk out of and then you had no remorse for it. No one was trying to "hustle" you, clean glassware is simply a basic level of hygiene that is expected of any establishment. For anyone considering coming here, do yourself a favour and go to one of the many other sushi resturants in the area. This establishment is not worth your health and safety.

Sushi was so fresh, they have a gluten free menu! And are mindful of allergies. The staff was polite and fast I recommend.

Definitely a great spot to go for sushi if you're looking for great service, tastey food, a LARGE variety to choose from, and a pleasant atmosphere.

It’s maybe the best “all you can eat sushi” in Hamilton. They have good vegetarian options.
Loved the broccoli tempura!
I gave them 3 stars because the waiter was so angry, and made me feel very uncomfortable.

I went there today and honestly other than it being $40 per person plus tip which is WAY too expensive, the food and service was amazing. Everything was cooked good, the service was kind and extremely fast and they had patience for me and my friend who ate their whole menu for over an hour lol plus they give you little candies at the end of your stay! Definitely would recommend if you can afford it.

Ordered on Uber Eats. Purchased a large platter along with some specialty rolls and was very disappointed. Tasted like mall food court sushi. Low quality and it shows. You are better off spending your money at places like Joya and Chef Martin which are in this area.

Never in my life have I had breaded chicken that tasted like absolutely nothing. Not bad, not cardboard, just nothing - with a rubber texture for added resistance to strengthen your jaw muscles.

Ordered 25 piece sashimi tray + additional 3 pieces of Hamachi. Only recieved the 25 pieces. Called the restaurant to say I was missing something and was advised the chef put the Hamachi in. That was correct but they just removed 3 pieces of BC tuna that I order. Restaurant did not offer any compesation just took the extra money.

Sushi is nice.
I have had better.
Staff is not that attentive.
There is mix up in the timings from the restaurant all the time.
We have dined there more almost 4 times and they gave us different last call timings three times. Once it was 9.45, then 9.30 and once 9.15pm. We generally go other places and use this place only as a last resort.
There are other places with more variety of items.

The food is not fresh and the service attitude is not good. The door says last call is the last 9: 45, and they didn't tell us in advance that 9: 15 p.m. Is the last call. Even said it was our problem, which made us very angry and disappointed! I don't dare to eat. I'm afraid the store will mix other things in the food. Because of these things, I don't recommend to come to this store. It's much more cost-effective to go to other stores with the same price.

I liked how quick it was to order. Booked through Fantuan app, drove there and was ready at pick up time - intersted to try their park all you can eat option! Felt that for two sets another container or ginger and wasabi would have been nice. Otherwise good sushi sushi curved the craving.

Absolutely horrible experience, a friend and I went for drive in sushi on May 25th and were treated absolutely horribly. Our first dish came out 25 mins after we arrived which we expected as they just opened but after making another order the food arrived 1hr later after having to call the restaurant and ask where my food is. At the end we only got food 3 times and maybe got 1/3 of the food that we ordered.

We did the car all you can eat, was an interesting experience. Very friendly staff, food was delicious, a bit pricey but it was a cool experience. Definitely recommend

The dishes soon started to arrive, all presented beautifully and all delicious. The ordering was a good idea as you could determine the amount you wanted, the choice was so, so, tempting as there was so much on offer. The dim sum was exceptionally good. Highly recommended.

Ordered through Skip and they were nice and prompt.the food on the other hand was awful. I would say the most sloppy sushi I've ever had my order was nearly $60 and I was very disappointed.
Would not recommend to anyone.

This is the only place we will go to for sushi. I love the idea of ordering from an iPad at your table, and they bring out your food nice and quick. When we go we order A LOT and everything we've tried tastes incredible. I highly recommend. Perfect for a date night.

Inconsistencies in what different staff tell you. Horrible communication, unfriendly, rude, unprofessional, poor customer service. Ordered the same thing many times without it arriving only to be told it is not available. Many other negatives about this establishment

August 8 is a Downtown classic, although prices have increased it has stayed pretty good. The size of their tiramisu got me writing a review. The tiramisu was $2.50 so I'm not actually surprised about it's tiny size. I guess it's worth the price.

But then. It tastes like cool whip. Imma give it a 1.5

But the rest is pretty good though.

We choose this restaurant when we could not get reservations at a steak house even 2 weeks in advance. This was an excellent choice as the service was top notch, drinks were great, and the food was fantastic and we ate, drank and had a wonderful experience for 2-3 hours. I think we must have tried almost every dish - at east by someone at the table of 12.

Please bring back the old deep fried sesame balls please! The new brand of sesame balls have a filling that is too runny and tastes chalky. It also doesn’t taste like lotus paste. Thank you!

Delicious food. I love their dim sum, one of very few places that offers good dim sum in Hamilton. They also added new items on their menu, so a fresh change as I've been coming here for many years now.

I ordered sushi and tempura and the sushi didn't taste fresh so I left it behind and the tempura was soggy. The manager came over to tell me that he is going to charge me extra even after I explained how the sushi wasn't fresh and the tempura was soggy. I went home with stomach pains and had a horrible reaction to their food. There are so many other sushi places that have fresh food and make it right so I don't recommend coming here.

Hit or miss at this place. Sometimes it's an exceptional visit, and other times it's the worst visit I've had. This time it was alright, came here with a group of 5 people for lunch. We ordered and it took about 30 minutes for them to bring out our order, it was apparently due to a "technical issue" but it's all good we ended up eating and it wasn't rushed. The place is kept clean and the staff were friendly with us.

I complained to the manager that the sushi was not fresh and the tempura was soggy. I was charged for the food we left behind. It was the first time that happened, but i have been coming here for years. I was very disappointed with the service, and I will not return to this location. They don't value returning customers.

I received food poisoning from the raw salmon and was off work for a week. The managers didn't care when I told them they said report it to public health.
As an update to the response from the owner- the manager of the facility has not resolved the issue. They advised me to go talk to Public Health about any concerns.

Service is usually always fast. Lunch rolls not quite as well formed as they are at dinner time. And for some reason when ordering their pizza sushi, it never makes it to the table, no matter how many times it is ordered.

We go here every week and I must say the food is delicious as always & the service is great! The staff is always attentive and is always making sure you have everything you need! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

So far, the best August 8 chain I have been to. Exact contrast to the one in Brampton. Taste is good, service is fast and food is at perfect temperature for its kind.

I usually love coming to this August8 for AYCE sushi, and have been to this location and others many times. Today our service was fairly slow, but with it being Friday night and busy I didn’t mind, and enjoyed the company of my family. Some of what we ordered never came, our water glasses were never refilled, and inquiries about our missing food were never answered. When our bill came I was surprised that we were charged a service fee of 20%. I am used to seeing this type of charge for large groups (which we’re not) and I asked about it. After another long wait the manager came over and explained that because they were busy, and we had overstayed the 1.5 hour stay and because our baby was messy we were charged this fee, “this is our policy”. I was unaware of the 1.5 hour sitting period and we only over stayed it because the service was slow! And I’ll admit our one year old baby made a mess, but we have never been penalized for this, ever! Used to love this place doubt I’ll be back.

Use to be amazing. Quality has depleted, they even water down the tempura sauce. Super tacky not accepting debit, you are a high volume restaurant, you are not down town Hamilton.

Wide range of AYCE food including Sushi, Dim sum, and recently added Taco. Their food is not the best of its kind but acceptable and even better than some restaurants around the area. One minus point due to the experience I had last time when I was here, sushi were so off point it were all falling apart, but everything else was usual. So if you're not a picky Sushi eater, this place is a good-to-go.

Ordering system stopped functioning half way through and we were not told about it and ended up waiting for over an hour until someone put our orders in the system. No communication from their end was given to us, over all this was a horrible experience.

Extremely slow service. 25% percent of the amount of sushi we ordered would be delivered after every order. Multiple orders never arrived and even after telling the server the food was still not delivered. At the end of our meal we were told our ordering device was broken and that it was not their responsibility that they could not see our orders. No attempt was made to replace the missing orders and we were never given the opportunity to order by paper. We received maybe a quarter of the food we intended to order and we were not compensate even after speaking with the manager.

This place is one of my fav for all you can eat, its usually 24 dollars during lunch hours and 29 dollars for dinner, the food is great ilove their fried banana and chocolate ice-cream

Sucked. The water tasted fine. But my date and I sat 45 minutes.then we were late for our booked event in Toronto due to this. Walked out. Not coming back.

It wasn't too busy when I went but regardless, the atmosphere was very enjoyable. All service was very prompt and the food quality was of the highest standards. I would definitely recommend this establishment and as I recommend the establishment I would recommend the spicy Salmon rolls. Very good.

Reasonable AYCE pricing. Weekends are more expensive as is typical.

We've visited this location for 3 years now. Quality is okay but used to be better.

Still recommend. 3/5 stars as the quality is not GREAT plus I dislike restaurants that don't allow you to pay with debit. Which most August 8 restaurants do by only accepting cash or credit.

I basically come here for the bacon wrapped asparagus and steamed curry squid. Everything else is wonderful and on par with other sushi places we frequent.

Food is pretty bland in taste and the sushi seems to fall apart if you look at it the wrong way. Takes a tad bit too long to removed stacks of used dishes for an AYCE too, in my opinion.

This used to be the go to place for sushi nights with friends. Honestly been going to this place for years, and I mean the chain not just this location. The quality the last time took a significant dive. They recently reduced the number of pieces in their maki from 6 to 4. I would be fine with this if it was just to reduce the potential food waste but the quality of the rolls dropped too. The rolls were smaller, (not just in the number of pieces) the amount of filling was significantly reduced and the rolls were falling apart. I've had grocery store sushi better than this. I will say that their sashimi and dim sum were still good but their other dishes like their noodle bowls have really dropped in quality. I hope this is just temporary because this used to be the best sushi place around.

One of the best sushi places in Hamilton! It’s nice and modern and we’re usually seated pretty quickly. There is sometimes a wait on the weekends but not too long. The service is quick and the food is always tasty!

This review hurts me to write. I have never had anything but a 5 star experience here (and it has been my staple sushi restaurant for many years)
Tonight was a very different experience. It's New Year's Eve and the restaurant was maybe half full. We had a group of 6, which has been our ritual for like 3 or 4 years. Half of the sushi we ordered didn't come out. We took the time to ask the sever and were told that we received everything. We reordered our missing items and the exact same thing happened. We finally tried a 3rd time and the same thing happened. The sushi that did come out was very skimpy (2/3 the usual size). I am writing a long review because I respect this place so much and my experience here is almost always perfect. Disappointed this time, I guess.

Nice selection of Sushi and Dim Sum. It's AYCE, so the size of the fish on the Sushi isn't that large, but you can always order more food. Everything tasted very nice. The service is so fast! Staff are nice. If you're going to go to an AYCE place, this restaurant is VERY good!

Went here for dinner with friends. My food had was missed several times. Service was poor. Food gave my husband food posioning
Went to speak to the manager following not having many of our food. Then was charged with a gratuity to top it off.

Will not be recommending
