We filled out an application for the kittens in PetSmart for few days, but no one replied. Today we called back PetSmart and found out the kittens have been adopted. It is so disappointing because my kids were there 2 times (in 2 days) and played with them, a connection was bonded. And now they cannot have them. No one can help us in the scene, the volunteers just asked us to wait for call back after asking us all kind of questions. But we waited for 4 days with no reply at all. I think it is another reason why people rather buying instead of adopting. It’s wasting time.

I adopted my very first cat from AVA a month ago. Beth was extremely helpful during the screening process and I could tell she really wants to ensure the cats are being matched with an appropriate home. Foster mom Linda truly loves and takes care of the cats she’s fostering. She knew everything about Willow, including the toys, treats, and food she prefers, as well as her personality and habits. Both ladies have been amazing in ensuring any questions I had about my sweet girl Willow were answered, and that I was able to care for her in the best way possible. As a first time cat owner I felt totally supported and I could not imagine my life without Willow now. Thank you!

My family and I applied and never heard back. I followed up and my partner and I went to the Petsmart location several times to show our interest. We noticed the same cats there for a few weeks when they could be going to loving homes rather than stuck in cages. All my family cats have lived to be 20 to 22 years old. We would have been happy to adopt 2 to 3 cats but the volunteer who reviews the applications does not even think to contact applicants. The entire process was filled with disappointment and sadness as I had really bonded with one specific cat but was willing to adopt others too. This was one of the worst experiences I've had and clearly they're on a power trip and the cats are not their first priority.

We have adopted 3 cats from this company, and have had great experiences! They’re very helpful and they cover all necessary costs to get you started. Thanks Denise and the crew for helping my wife and I grow our family! Photos are of Archie, and the twins Ginnie and Stella!

My cats went lost and this organization took them over and the agent monika blocked my phone number seem like they want to resell my cat and not giving them back to me. Plus they knowingly neutered them without telling me and monika never replied to text message. This a pure scam organization just wanna resell cat for profit. Be wary

I can't say enough good things about AVA! The volunteers who work there are true heroes, rescuing cats from all kinds of tough situations and giving them the love and care they deserve. It's clear that the cats are treated like family at AVA, and the dedication of the workers to finding the best possible homes for them is truly inspiring. I highly recommend anyone looking to adopt a cat to check out AVA - not only will you be giving a deserving kitty a new home, but you'll be supporting an amazing organization in the process!

I adopted my cat from AVA. I went several times to the adoption centre to meet my perfect fur baby. The volunteers are so caring! I filled out an application and was approved within days. Denise was very knowledgeable. We are so happy with our Edgar! I am surprised at some negative reviews. I had a positive experience with Denise and the organization.

AVA is a volunteer run rescue. I adopted two beautiful kitties from AVA. I also volunteer for them from time to time. I am appalled at some comments below as I know first hand the work they put into this rescue. It’s a charity based on love and hard work.

Had my first interview with Lisa to volunteer at AVA. I was impressed by the thorough process, both for selecting volunteers and families, and the passion for the cats. It so important to match the right cat and the right individuals.

Adopted two loving kittens back in Dec 2021 through AVA… the process was quick but professional. Had a serious interview as to why I wanted to adopt a cat, how I would provide a healthy and happy home, and made sure I understood the commitment to being a cat owner. The kittens came spayed and fully vaccinated. The pick up process at petsmart was smooth. I recommend AVA if you’re looking to adopt!

Brought home our sweet toothy boy Gus today and he’s so very wonderful. Staff answered emails promptly and kindly and had a great experience on the day we adopted and picked him up.

I adopted Avery now Dougie from AVA, everyone involved was polite.
I filled out an application and the next day I picked Dougie up. Quick fast adoption, I love this rescue. They made sure Dougie would be going to a good home.
Dougie is the sweetest most cuddly boy.

AVA is fine, but they really need to filter their volunteers. Please be careful with their volunteers because some of them think so highly of themselves being the volunteer they can just judge people whatever they want. Yes, you would think volunteers in a cat rescue must be loving and kind. No.
I was in the process of adopting a cat today, and while I was being honest describing to the volunteer about my cat's special condition of biting, one of another volunteers just started to blame everything on me. She had no idea what we have helped/trained our cat, instead of listening, she just immediately assumed that I'm the reason my cat bites because I'm too soft. She lectured me with all those knowledge I have known and tried over the years yet she admitted herself having no experience dealing with a problem cat. The woman was really mean both her tone and words, and they called what she said to me as " To empower me". It's really not. Why would you talk to your client this way? What's the benefit of making other cat owner upset? Not all the applicants are ignorant of cats. I worked with a cat behavioral specialist for my beloved cat. A lot of us do have knowledge and sometimes even more than you do. I hope AVA will filter their volunteer better and not let these people discourage others adopting with their attitude.

I've adopted two cats through AVA in Hamilton and had a great experience both times. Their volunteers & fosters are always so caring, loving, and concerned about the best interests of the cat.

My two cats now (one from 8 years ago, and the other recently adopted) are very happy and well-adjusted.

The process has been seamless for me every time I've applied. From communication to adoption within a week usually. I want to thank Beth and Chelsea from AVA who do wonderful work and have big hearts.

7 years ago I got two cats through AVA Cats. They were exactly as described. Both cats were fixed, dewormed, had their shots. I applied to adopt them and was called immediately to discuss what their living conditions would be. They have been wonderful additions to our home and I would happily adopt through AVA again.

This cat rescue/adoption service is poorly run, and any public funding given to them should be pulled. I was told by a volunteer at Petsmart how so many cats needed rescuing and needs a forever home. Was told to fill out an application and wait two weeks for a call back. No call back ever received, while cats are flooding the system, and I want to help. No call back. Poorly run.
