Excellent food, enjoyed the every bit of it, had to wait for 45 minutes, but it was worth waiting

We are always looking to try different Indian restaurants. Our usual go-to place for takeout is already closed down. A friend suggested we try Avani Asian Indian Bistro, and I have to tell you; it was 100% worth trying.

The place is clean, and the ambiance was welcoming. The staff was very friendly and cordial. We started out with a chili paneer, battered paneer cheese tossed with chilies, ginger, garlic, and green onions. The menu says served “dry” which means it’s been drizzled with sweet and sour sauce. I have to admit, while the spice level was only mild, it was on spicy good. This dish was just the start of a very awesome and tremendous meal for my palate. I just can’t get enough of this starter dish; the batter was close to crunchy and melts in your mouth when you take that deep bite. The sauce was more than savory, and I have to tell you, it was more than enough to fill our lunch craving.

But on to the main dishes, the highlight of this place. Our family loves to eat Lamb Korma and Chicken Biryani, so we just had to order them. Their Lamb Korma has mild curry made with ground cashews and almonds, yogurt, and tomatoes. If you are reading this right now and thinking to yourself, “it’s like any other korma”, you have to come taste this dish for yourself. I’ve had other Lamb Kormas from other places, and this my friend has to be the tastiest and most savory Korma I’ve ever tasted. The lamb was tender, cooked to perfection, and the curry sauce was just heavenly. I kid you not, I fell in love with this dish from the get-go. And of course, what is your Indian meal with eating biryani. Our go-to is always a chicken biryani, and their version has to be one of the tastiest in town. Unlike other biryanis, where you see a mix of colored and white basmati rice, theirs was fully engulfed in that rich biryani color and was covered in a baked Naan crust. The dish was done perfectly so that you wouldn’t even notice the protein (whether you order lamb, chicken, or veggies), the savory rice itself will give you a happy tummy all day long.

Overall, the food, the ambiance, the service & friendliness of this restaurant are amazing. I highly recommend dining here regardless of your craving, Indian cuisine, or not. I would give them 10 stars if I could. More power to you, Avani Asian Indian Bistro, in Matheson, Mississauga!

Very bad gobi 65 experience.
I ordered gobi 65 on 25th nov there was piece of white clothe (rag) in it
Last week we did dine in the plate was really foul smelling
Staff refused talking in punjabi when I called to complain said she doesn’t understand punjabi which is shocking as it’s an indian restaurant.

One of our favourite Indian restaurants. The food is delicious, surroundings can get a little noisy on the weekends.

This restaurant is a Michelin star restaurant on the weekdays, but if you ever land at the restaurant on the weekend from Friday to Sunday, you pay the same price but get maybe 3 star food. You can't blame the chef cuz they have 100s of orders and a lineup. Hoping they can maintain the same standards on the weekends.

If I ever have to name a place which provide poor quality food, then this place will top the list. We had dinner yesterday and it was a big disappointment. We ordered daal makhani (kaali daal) but it was full of artificial coloured red curry. Chaap masala was very spicy, rumaali roti was not made properly, felt like eating raw flatbread. I feel that instead of opening multiple locations, Avani should focus on improving the quality at their prime location and serve better food, which can provide justice to customers money and expectations.

I went there on Father’s day Sunday… Every place is on waiting… I reached there and they try their best to give us the table as soon as possible.

Food was absolutely amazing. I ordered kabab and Manchurian with Manchow Soup. In a main course Shahi Paneer and Chana Masala with roomali roti. Gajar halwa and gulam jamun was so delicious.
Taste was great and the Service they provided especially in the extreme busy hours was terrific.

Our server Preet was kind and helpful and she is responding to our needs very quickly.

We went to Avani yesterday for dinner and I must say the food and service was excellent. Good portion size with excellent staff. I would like to give my praises to our server Tahir who was commendable in handling our last minute requests

To be very honest food was trash. Lots of their appetizers seem like frozen food, chaat papdi was straight dhai with some pomegranate seeds. Their prices are veryyy confusing for the quality of food they provide. Service was decent I guess but the ambient is veryyy chaotic not relaxing super loud. Ice cream for the dessert was some next low quality icecream. This was literally horrible I’m genuinely confused what the hype is about which is why I took the time to write this review to save anybody else’s time and money.

Incredible service by Manpreet! She was so lovely and recommended the best tasting dishes. Highly recommend.

This place is very good, food is very tasty and the washrooms are so clean. I would def recommend this place for families.

Indian Fine Dining. Good food, great selection of cocktails and drinks, mediocre portion sizes for pricing. Always find it amusing that the take out portions are almost 1.5 times what they serve for dine in.

I may say that this is the best Indian restaurant ever!
I brought my family and we really enjoyed our experience here. We went in a big group, had our reservation but we we’re running late, so I called them that we were on our way. They were so strict about the time, but still accommodated us even though we we’re 10 minutes late. I was personally impressed that they still welcomed us with warm greetings to the fact that we we’re late in our reservations. The gentleman in charged was really accommodating, helped us with what we need especially with the food selections.
Service was fantastic! They were so professional and gave us suggestions in what we have to order. The restaurant was so busy, but still, staffs handled the customers professionally. We we’re so impressed on how the manager handled the situation on a very busy weekend!
Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and would definitely recommend to everyone to come and experience AVANI!

Waiting so long for dine in and finally when we were in for dine in then while eating found chicken from vegetarian dish paneer tikka.so irresponsible how can they put chicken inside vegetarian dish.vegetarian guys- pls make sure to check dish properly before eating that.

I ordered a takeout from this place. Items are Veg manchuria which is very saggy and not tasty. Paneer tikka masala in which vegetables are not cooked and I felt it smells like raw turmeric. Veg Biryani was horrible, no salt, no spice, the vegetables are not cooked. I felt that, I can cook far better than that. There is no option to give zero stars so giving one star. If there is an option I would like to ask for full refund. Wasted $85 and totally disappointed.

I used to like the food earlier however, not happy with the food they served lately.
I went today for dine in and ordered crispy chilly corn for eating there and Hakka noodles for take away! Both were below average and poor in taste.
Crispy corn. - was not at all crispy and super oily
Hakka noodles - not sure if I am eating noodles or oil! Extremely oily and I dint like any of them at all.

Disappointed!

This has always been our favorite restaurant over the years but I have to say tonight was the worst experience. Although food was good it was extremely poor service and food was brought out incrementally and not all together. It was impossible to get anyone’s attention. Definitely time to find a new restaurant.

Food is good but the wait to get the food is too long.

Ordered appetizers and main course and asked to bring everything together (in the past they brought the appetizers and the main 1 hour and 10 mins late).
This time they brought the appetizers (we ordered 3) the first one arrived 20 mins after we ordered, the second appetizer 15 mind later and the third one 15 mins later.

We had to ask for the main dishes 2 times because we had already waited 30/40 mins since they brought the last appetizer. It took so long that even a waitress came and asked if we wanted one of the appetizers to be packed to go.

I'm giving 3 stars for the food but a dinner shouldn't take that long.

Very bad service long wait for food and they charged me extra money for thier waiter service around 15-16% and they served us desert in dirty plate which is very risky in this covid period

I have been to Avani many times. I would highly recommend Kale Papri chaat. They are usually very busy. I wouldn’t order the tandoori naans, I would order garlic regular naans since they are soft and tasty. Tandoori naans are usually better for digestion; however at Avani, I found them to be more dry. Service was great. What I found absolutely odd was, they didn’t have any chai (Indian tea), which at any Indian restaurant is a signature drink. Otherwise the place has a nice ambiance and is a nice place for family to dine in.

Upscale restaurant.service is great but main course of food wasn’t taste good at all. We ordered Punjabi food none of our subji look like a Punjabi or taste like a Punjabi.

I had advance booking at 6: 30 for my cousin's birthday who was 8 month pregnant. It was super windy and stormy on that day and we drove slow and reached by 6: 40 pm. But the manager and a lady in a crew with FAKE ACCCENT didn't let us in saying that we were 10 mins late. Therefore, we released table to other customer and they couldn't adjust us on another table. As they take dine in only with the appointment. It is ridiculous that If you don't take walk in how come you release our booked table to other customers. The worst part was that my cousin was excited for her birthday and her last dinner before her delivery, so we begged for a table but they didn't listen and it was so rude and disrespectful.

Will never ever come to your restaurant and believe me I am advising other also about you treated customers with special needs. You should be sorry about what you did. Try at least not spoil someone's special day just because they are late by 10 min due to bad weather condition.

The food was terrible, no seasoning, no taste no spice. Everything was bland and the quantity is also so less. The fried rice that we ordered seems to be deep fried rice. Sooooo much oil? I would not recommend this place and will never return again.

Food was just ok, not great. Pricey, yes. I'm afraid, it's not worth the price. May not recommend as they definitely need to reconsider the taste. Looked forward to the Rumali roti n it was thick and under cooked: (Lollipops were tiny and felt the chicken momos were the frozen ones. Not happy paying north of 150 for jus 4 ppl.

We ate there as a family for the first time today; as it's still Covid times, we opted to do take out. We ordered over the phone, paid at the restaurant, it was quick and straight-forward.

The Samosas were interesting, they're like an Indian-Chinese hybrid, with the typical potato filling in an eggshell wrapper. It was nice!

The "Chicken Lollipops" were a big hit with us, and we should have ordered more- personally I liked it with the tamarind sauce, gave it an interesting sweet kick

The Butter Chicken, we collectively agreed there was a bit too much sauce for us, but that's kinda just how butter chicken is

The Veggie Hakka Fried Rice was basic and tasty, straight-forward, same with the Buttered Naan- that was a delicious hit, a lil over-cooked on the underside, but still edible.

This was a fairly safe meal, but we all agreed that we would try them again

We liked the starters crispy veg and babycorn but though it was written spicy but spice level was low
Also paneer tikka masala was like paneer butter masala
may be they have changed the chef post pandemic as we been pre pandemic and food was recommendable before but now they need work on their quality

Authentic Indian and Asian flavours. Everything is freshly made. Make sure you make a reservation a day prior because this place gets really busy on a weekend and Friday night.

Rest you will totally enjoy the food.

Some of the tastiest and most flavourful Indian and Hakka dishes I've tasted anywhere! My go-to dishes are the dry chilli chicken, aloo gobi lamb biriyani and the tandoori mixed grill!

We opted for patio dinner on a friday evening. It was beautiful with all string lights lit up. Veg crispy vegetables are super delicious and crispy. Paneer tikka masala was good too. The naan's could be a bit lighter and thin. Service is amazing and polite even during rush hour. Overall good indian food in the vicinity.

I visited this place with my hubby pre-covid situation last year. The ambience was nice, food is great and specially appreciate the Indian music in the back ground.

Was taken here and food was great. Would be a 5 but the delivery of food was brutally slow. Waiter admitted order was screwed up and had to redo. Otherwise very nice atmosphere and good dishes

Called yesterday and today to make a reservation. The restaurant told me that they don’t take reservations, only walk ins. Went to the restaurant with my family if 7, and was told that there would be 2 hour wait. The restaurant wasn’t even full, but they told me that they had reservations after telling twice over the phone that don’t take reservations? ! What’s even worse is that the Hostess raised her voice on me, what amazing customer service. I will never be returning to this place again and will tell my friends to steer clear of it.

Arguably the best Indian esp North Indian cuisine in all of Greater Toronto. Each dish is immaculately prepared and presented. The staff is warm and courteous.

Its a nice place but they make it brighter than a McDonalds at 945 so if youre coming there a bit later, the ambiance will be destroyed. Further the manager at this restaurant is very condensing and inconsiderate. The experience was horrible.

One of the worst experience. I ordered baign bartha it was more like a tomato paste. Naans were so big didn’t even bother to cut them in small pieces. They should look at their customer service.

I always go there but lately I noticed the person taking the order should be trained. It took her long to understand what I want to order. At the end I got the wrong order any ways means still she didn't understood. In the past I just had to say once. Looks like they have started to hire the international students. Food quality is still good

First of all I want to give 0 star but don’t have option for that. I went to this restaurant on December 15 at 6pm and I waited for 1 hour and 10 minutes for my food. I ordered malai kofta where koftaas were frozen from inside and naans were burnt. My brother ordered rumali roti that was under cooked. I am not going back to this restaurant ever again and never recommend to any other people too.

One of the best places to go for authentic tasty Indian food. However, keep in mind, for larger parties - This is not exactly a cheap place. Also, make sure to get a reservation, especially if visiting on a weekend or be ready to wait many minutes (remember, there is a reason why there is such a wait!).

Very good starters (Chilli Paneer, Dried Paneer Tikka with mint chutney), Tasty cocktails and lime soda, loved main course (methi Malai mutter) and very fine roomali roti. Wait time for main course was over 45 mins, so be ready to order with or right after your starters else will have to wait for a long time. Fine dining at $$$.

Horrible ill cultured staff with no sense of customer service. The manager of the restaurant himself admitted that they hire so called desi students as staff who hardly got the sense of customers service.

Visited Avani on Friday Novemmber 30,2018 to celebrate an event. Good atmosphere, didn't have to wait as we already had reservations. Our server Amrit was super couteous and patience. He went above and beyond to bring small things for my kids to keep them happy. Great service! Keep up the good work Amrit and Avani.

Ruined our anniversary dinner!
Terrible service. After 40mins got served some really really chewy & uncooked naan (had to throw away half of it), average chicken korma & again average Kung pao chicken. After paying quite an amount for a fine dine the food & service both are very poor!
The music is quite loud that one needs to actually shout for the servers attention. & even getting the bill was a task. Super disappointed!

The food is delicious and well plated, the prices are a bit high though which is a bummer. I wouldn't mind so much if they were more generous in their servings, or offered a complimentary appetizer to help please the value minded. Management and service staff are not bad, they are quick to rectify any errors appropriately.

Recently came in for another visit, and they had terrible greeter with poor service.

Went here for dinner tonight with family to celebrate for a birthday dinner. I have been a regular customer since they opened. I am Extremely Disappointed with the Service tonight. Yes the food is good. But Daal Tadka was very unpleasant. For the increased price there should be an increase in Quality of Service. A restaurant is only as good as it's service - during peak hours. Hostess was MIA and that's Failure #1. Harpreet their hostess is busy running around rather than being front of house and managing flow of guests coming in the door. We waited 45 minutes to be seated but the right thing for them to do is then to offer customers the ability to go to the bar and order drinks. But that would only be possible if someone was managing the flow of Customers coming in (Failure #2). Had it have been done properly I can almost guarantee they would have had more guests, happier and spending more money in the bar.

The ambience is usually always great but unfortunately a table of 28 was smack dab in the middle of the restaurant, messing with flow, service and ambiance (Failure #3) This may be the start of this restaurant's downfall, unfortunately, if there isn't improvement. Had a quick chat with Sarbjit the owner, who was too quick to defend his team.

I hope to see a improvement in the service after our chat.

Great butter chicken and butter naan. The chicken biriyani wasn't as I expected in flavour, but the presentation and how it was made looks amazing. Service was great in terms of waiting team, but food arrived later than usual wait time. Took over 40 minutes.

Wanted to go for family dinner time. Called Avani for reservations.
Girl told us “just walk-in as we are not busy before 6.30”
Came 6.10pm, restaurant was almost empty.first guy asked to see second and second person ask us for a girl who answered my phone.
After while she came denied to give us dinner table and offered lunch table as I don’t have reservation.

Where you will feel like going at subway sandwich restaurant.
No respect to customer nor customers time. I drove almost 1 hour to get there.

I Couldn’t understand, when I called for reservation they did give me and now asking for reservation.

Disgusting service, lamb of racks where dead cold, when I told them the waitor gave me attitude instead as if I was lying, I was there to have good food with my wife not bad attitude, they didn't bother asking for water second time naan bread was really thick and rubber made. Only good thing was mutton karahi and hot sour soup, but when I asked them why lamb of racks is so cold they had no answers but more on hospitality was poor. I don't think I will be going back to dine in at this place anymore. No thanks

Visited this place today with family and friends. We were 8 adults and 2 children. Food was very average. The signature dish butter chicken was pathetic. It had stale smell. The staff changed it and bought the same one in another bowl and smelled the same. They neither cancelled the dish and even charged us for the two plates of which we did not even have one bite. When we entered at 8.25pm they said 9.15pm will be the last order as kitchen shuts and we can continue and eat our food peacefully till 10.30pm. At 9.15pm they accepted new guests and after 25 mins of we placing the order they informed us that starters take 25-30 mins atleast and another 30 mins for main course. After 10 mins of serving the starters they started clearing the plates while we were still eating and got the main course saying that they informed that last order is at 9.15pm but never said that last serving is at 9.15pm and then kept the food on the next table and served us later main course that was not hot at all. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Infact on such an ospicious and festive day this turned out to be the most pathetic meal of my life. When asked if we could speak to the manager we were informed he has already left even before the restaurant is shut and we will have to pay for food that was stale and had foul smell and also no right to compliant to anyone senior as the server was the only person available. We paid $437 for 8 people whis approx $55 per person and very highly priced for a pathetic food and service. Infact for this amount I could eat at keg which serves delicious food. Please beware before you go. Hope to survive tomorrow and not have any food poisoning Becuase the meat served wasn't fresh at all.

Food poisoning from food that is expensive but made irresponsibly can not be excused. We were a group of 3 and all of us fell ill reading chicken. Quite disappointing considering all the wait for a table (1 hr!).

Chicken is known to spread solemnella and in spite of thIs common knowledge if restaurants can't take enough precautions, they are a disaster waiting to happen! Remind me of an Indian restaurant in UK, the owners of which got charged for manslaughter.

Being an Indian myself I do understand the challenges of Indian cooking but one good thing about this cuisine is that everything veggies, meat. Matt are so well cooked so wonder what basics are these pricy places missing? !
