Let’s start with the positives. The drop off was very easy and 2 really helpful employees went and grabbed us a luggage trolley as we were struggling with 5 bags, a toddler and a baby.

Unfortunately, that’s where the positive review ends.

Unfortunately our experience went south pretty quickly upon arrival. We had pre booked 2 car seats, one for a baby and one for a 3 year old. The car seats were on the floor of the office area as they don’t fit them due to liability, which is fair enough if that’s their policy, but could have been communicated when booking.

The real issue I have is this. When we stated that the booster seat they had out for us wasn’t appropriate, safe or legal for a 3 year old, we were told that that’s all they had. After explaining we pre booked for a car seat for a toddler, we were told to go look in an outside storage bin for a suitable one. After looking and finding nothing but booster seats and telling the employee that this wasn’t suitable for a toddler, we were asked what we wanted from him. I said “well I’d like a car seat that’s a safe and legal to use in this country for a toddler” I was told that he didn’t know what was safe or legal as he didn’t have kids. After further explaining that we needed the car seat we’d pre booked and paid for, we were told, and I quote “ look, take one from here or don’t take one from here, I don’t care” when I challenged him that he should care and it’s his job to provide one as we’ve already paid for it, we were further told “it’s not my job to make sure your kids are safe” At this point, I chose to walk away for everyone’s sake and my wife took over negotiations. After a different lady came out and told us that “he wouldn’t of said that as he’s the nicest guy I know”she went off and miraculously found the car seat we needed and we were then left to fit 2 car seats in the freezing cold after travelling for 16 hours. We asked for a manager and got shrugged off with “he’s at terminal 1 he won’t come down” whether this is true or not, I don’t know as I’d given up trying to get through to anyone at this point so left it there.

Never again will I use Avis. Downright outrageous statements by an employee and absolutely no regard for the safety of customers kids. If you are travelling with kids, avoid Avis like the plague.

Great customer service at Toronto Airport, areivals and departure. Morden and very clean car, with satnav as standard. Price was competitive and value for money.

The team at YYZ terminal 1 went above and beyond to resolve every challenge during my booking. They created out of the box solutions all the way and I was left very satisfied with the professionalism and problem solving that was out of the box and customer focused.

Courteous staff and were able to upgrade my vehicle at no charge. When dropping off, there were no extra charges that sometimes seem to mysteriously come up with other discount car rental outfits.

I usually have a great experience with Avis which is why I didn't rate this a 0. But this time my flight got canceled and I wasn't able to pick up the car until the next day. As soon as I heard this was the case I called the Avis call center, after some discussion with the agent I was informed that I would not have to change my rental agreement if I could pick up th car within 24 hours, which i would be doing. Then once I finally landed and was able to pick up the car, the Avis preferred agent told me my car wasn't available since it was the following day from when my original booking was made for. She tried to book me a new reservation with last minute rates at $100 more than what I was expecting to pay. She did this without informing me that it would cost extra or even explaining what she was doing. When it came time to sign the contract, I noticed the price difference and told her o wasn't going to pay an extra $100 to have the car for one less day after I was already told it wouldn't change anything up to 24 hours. I went inside and talked to the other agents, one of them asked if I had argued with the flight agents when my flight was cancelled, as if that's what I was doing now. 3 agents in total were very rude and not helpful. Finally there was another agent that noticed my situation and took over. He was very kind and was able to help me get a car for my time and the same price as i expected. They told me because i had prepaid for the car that things were now more difficult. Finally an hour later, i left for my trip with the rental i expected. When i returned the car, there was an extra $21 charge on my receipt. I dont know what it is for or why i have to pay it, i returned the car a few hours early and with a full tank. Terrible terrible customer service.

I rented a car had bad experience. I should have 200km to drive, and I would get a flat rate. I drove less than 180km, and they charged me impossible 680km. So, be careful when you return your vehicle, take pic of the odometer.

I rented a vehicle on August 14,2023, at Avis Pearson Airport, Toronto (YYZ). When I arrived, I found that the rate was not correct. I showed my government ID's (both US and Canadian governments) to the agent, and he promised that he would correct the rate. He never did. I called Avis Customer Service, and two agents promised that they would correct the rate. They never did. Consequently, I paid $1439 US more than I should have based on the proper government discount advertised on the Avis website. This is a blatant case of misrepresentation. I have read of many others that have been treated unlawfully by Avis. I would say that a class action lawsuit is in order.

Rented a Van at the airport location. It was supposed to be ready by noon. I paid $82.00 to Uber and got to the airport to pick it up at 4: 00pm and the Van wasn't there! They said they are washing it, which was a lie, (they admired it was not there)
How did a premium car rental company got to this level?

I rented a car from this location at around 1 AM. The staff, understandably, seemed a bit tired. I opted not to prepay for fuel and returned the car with a full tank. However, despite refueling to a full tank, I was surprised to find a $35 fuel service fee on my bill on top of the gas charges. Turns out that the fuel level was 1-2 liters less than when I picked up the car. This is messed up. I have not seen such charges in other car rentals.

Didn’t get the car i booked. Person helping me at midnight barely spoke english. Car seats rented from them were defective. Had to go buy my own car seats.called 5-6 offices. No one was willing to help. Just got a run around. So my first and last time

Don't honor 3rd party reservations. I brought a printed voucher with the conditions of the rental (300$ deposit) and they charged me 750$. I was told that I either agree on the 750 or find a rental anywhere else.

I flew into Ontario for a 3 day visit to a friend, and rented a Tesla model 3 from Avis. There was a couple of initial issues, I hadn’t noticed that the credit card hold had been increased to $750 (car rental was pre-paid) so took a little time for me to reorganize for the hold. Second issue took a day and far to many phone calls to fix, but a big thanks to Jay, on the road side assistance number who was able to work with things and get it sorted remotely for me. The previous renter had played with the settings and speed locked the car to 80 kph with a PIN code no one else knew. This made my trip on the 400 series highways, slow and dangerous as most other vehicles were travelling at least 35kph faster than me. Most of the customer service/ roadside assistance people I spoke with weren’t familiar with Teslas and had no idea how to fix the issue until I spoke with Jay. He was able to get into the Tesla account and remotely reset. After this the vehicle could do posted highway speeds, and keep up with traffic flow.
