AW, SHUCKS! OYSTER BAR & BISTRO

This used to be my go-to spot, but, of late, I regret to say it’s going downhill fast. The last time my wife and I were there, someone brought their dog straight into the kitchen and the owner did not object. The staff were talking amongst themselves and neglecting the customers. The service was slow despite it not being busy at all. There are far better options for seafood in Aurora.

Amazing atmosphere but too crowded and waited too long for my drinks from the bartender. I would go again though.

The place is great. The music is very, very old. The DJ plays music that is 50 years old. It's impossible to listen to. We need to change the music immediately, if not then fire the brainless Dj.
Go online and listen to DJ Dark's music and play it. It will be great. I’ve already written 5 times to play new music. There is a lot of it on the Internet. Thousands of DJs create new music every day. Place to eat, relax, class. But we will never go on Friday and Saturday evenings again, and neither will all my friends.

Do not order the seafood player for 2 if your hungry. Our server said it would be too much food for us, but we found it barely adequate. Disappointing experience.

Had an absolutely amazing lunch! Our waitress was awesome and made my sister’s bday a little extra special. Gave atmosphere 3 stars only bc a couple flies were at our table, landing on our food and we ate inside!

I really enjoyed this place. The food was great. The service was very good. They had a video dance party (Saturday night), which brought out a great vibe. The dress code is casual, I definitely will be back!

A cute local find that offers a fantastic variety of seafood that was cooked wonderfully. There was 4 of us dining in, ready and eager to fill our empty hungry stomachs. We started off with two dozen oysters of assorted varieties and their lobster and seafood chowder. I have to say, if you gave us a pot of this soup with a full size baguette, we still would have walked out of there happy. Our main dishes consisted of the mix grill, fish tacos, lobster ravioli and the spicy tomato steamed mussels. The table got very quiet, very quickly.it was delicious! The only item on one plate that was less than desirable was a small piece of fish that didn't quite appeal to anyone's pallette. Not sure what kind it was but it was definitely NOT the salmon because the salmon was great.

Let's talk service. Sadly this is where the restaurant fell short. By the time we received our meals, we were the only ones in the restaurant. Granted it was a Sunday evening but given the circumstances, we could not quite understand why we had to flag down the waiter every time we needed something. He was friendly and polite. He was accurate and impressive with his ordering skills but just wasn't attentive.

The restaurant itself was simple and comfortable. Well lit, linen tablecloths and very clean. EXCEPT the woman's restroom. The floor was wet with discolored liquid due to a leak in the ceiling. Not sure how recent this was but definitely something that needs addressing. Thankfully I went after my meal and not before or during.

Overall, the food will definitely bring us back and hopefully the minor issues are improved.

Absolutely delicious food. All 4 types of oyster were perfectly shucked and nicely presented. Lobster ravioli was excellent. Fish tacos were amazing. Mixed seafood grill was a pleasant surprise with even the salmon being tasty.

The only let down was the service. With only 2 people at the bar, I wouldn't expect to wait 10 minutes for bread, 15 for a Caesar and then another 10 minutes for a mojito. At least the wait staff were friendly.

I love the ambiance here. I decided to take my mom out for a nice dinner and I’m glad we chose Aw Shucks. Excellent service, delicious food.

The food was amazing. Ordered the fried calamari and the mussels. Done very well! Placed was short staffed but we were still taken care of in a reasonable amount of time due to this. Angelina and Christian were amazing. Smiles on their faces and professional. Been to a few restaurants since the pandemic and the attitudes and professionalism were horrible. This was the case here! Thank you!

Horrible experience! My colleague was moving, and she wanted to get together for a night out before she left. I recommended Aw Shucks because I’d been there in the past for meals and oysters, and it had a good vibe. She called and asked to reserve a table for approximately 10-15 people, and was told she would have to commit to 500 dollars worth of food and drinks. What kind of restaurant demands the clients spend a certain amount of money? She decided not to reserve, but got there early and managed to get 2 tables near the dance floor for our group. At that point there were 10 of us. We ALL ordered meals and drinks, and everyone was having a great time and dancing after our meals. Later on in the evening, the security guard came by and told us we had to leave our tables and go elsewhere in the club because the tables were now reserved for “bottle service”. At no time before we were seated were we told that later on we would have to leave our tables. We had easily spent over 500 on our meals and drinks anyways, and they still made us leave our tables and we had to squeeze around 1 small table near the bar area. By that time there were about 13 of us, so most of us just left. Ridiculous customer service! If they want to act like some upscale Toronto club, then have tables set aside for bottle service only!

I came here with my parents for dinner; we got raspberry point oysters, seafood linguini, lobster fettuccine, and seafood mix grill. The food was high quality and came in generous portions. Staff were friendly and prompt, and the lower rooftop patio was very clean and enjoyable to spend time in. This my new favourite seafood restaurant in the area!

The food was delicious! The oysters were fresh, all available varieties were from PEI. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and great service. It's a big space with plenty of seating. They also have space for private events, offer a kids menu and have a patio. Would definitely recommend and return.

We had our engagement party here. It was an all around amazing experience. Staff were super helpful and caring, food was delicious, and the rooftop patio was gorgeous.

Rooftop patio closed on a beautiful day. Seems like missed opportunity. But then tried to order. Even walked up to the waitress and ordered- response- our technology isn’t working, I will be right out- never came
Heard another worker tell her to use her phone- didn’t want to do that
Not sure why you need technology to walk up to the bar to repeat our order- but it seemed like an insurmountable task- so we left. Too bad.

Fun spot. Good range of oysters and the added options to enjoy different cooked preparations is a nice throwback.

Honestly the food was amazing. High quality but also high priced. It has a restaurant feel during the day and during the nights it changes to a club feel.

This place is amazing but the food needs to improve. The PEI mussel was to dry and tiny. The seafood mix grill everything was way over cooked.

Great food! And we would have ordered more if our server was more prompt. Staff were super friendly and polite, but very slow (even on a quiet evening). Felt like we waited very long between drinks, food, and even the bill. That’s the only reason I took away a star. The overall atmosphere of the place was awesome though! Decor, music, ambiance in general. Two patios! The restaurant was clean, but bathrooms could be a little cleaner and updated or decorated. We will definitely be back for the food, especially for all the options of oysters and seafood. Yum!

Went with my wife for a special occasion. We were seated near a party of 12 or so. From the start we waited 20 minutes for a menu. Then another 10 for water. Waiter treated us like an afterthought. Food was OK but was cool, not cold. Waiter never came back to ask us how our food was but served the large party hand and foot. Had to wait for the bill. Never came. We had to go to the front desk to pay. Not surprisingly, left no tip. Been going to restaurants for over 45 years and that we easily in the top 3 worst dining experiences.
It was the first and last time I go to this restaurant. Brutal

Delicious oysters, nice atmosphere, great service. Menu needs GF options like pasta & pizza, that would make it 5/5!

The Best place in the world to have a party and I'm not exaggerating. From the planning the schedule and menu with Ange and Alex to the service to the servers Chloe and Bella was perfect. The food was freshly made and delicious. The servers were quick to satisfy any requests and recognized any and all guest requirements. Thank you all for a wonderful birthday event.
