Worst BK I have ever been to. Rude unorganized staff waited 30 minutes for a whopper with cheese and two orders of mozzarella sticks. Unacceptable.

My Friday evening visit to A&W last week left much to be desired. The onion rings, ordered around 7 pm, were disappointingly subpar—greasy and lacking the usual crispiness; poutine was also cold. Adding to the dismay, the front girl's rude behavior further soured the experience. Unfortunate combination of poor food quality and unpleasant service.

I have been to this location alot over the past year. It's a strange occurrence when a fast food drive through consistently asks you to wait 10 minutes for food. This isn't once and a while, this is everytime I come. I find it hard to understand how they never have food ready, or how it takes 10 minutes to make an egg mcmuffin. I have been asked to drive around the block and come back for my food. I think A&W has gone down his since I was a child. Food is great, atmosphere is okay, but this isn't what you would call fast food.

Food is always great for a fast food place. Teen burgers all the way. Wasn't happy about being charged for a BBQ sauce after asking for NO sauce on a chicken burger. Not a fan of the idea of still paying for something removed and paying an additional amount to replace that item that was removed. I tried to explain this to the employee at the window but she just couldn't understand what I was talking about. Anyways, all in all, a bit better than average I guess.

We went just to try the frozen root beer. We ordered in the drive through and we're told to wait in 1 of those spots for our order. It took a long time (about 10 mins) just to get the drinks. If this hadn't been such a long wait it probably would have been a better experience. Get your fries seasoned-so much better

Food is alright, nothing to write home about. Nothing wrong with it just tasted like I went to Walmart and picked up some burgers myself, except with any spices. Either way this is a good location to pick up a late night snack, but wasn't really worth the money in my opinion.

We just bring our order home and got this hair in burger. First time in my life, i got this topping for free in burger. Even we waited for the order in parking as well.

I lost my wallet waking home from the bar and the manager from this A&W found it and got it back to me. Total G move.

Slowest bloody drive through. Had to honk to get them to take the order and then wait again to get food because they didn't take the order when they should have.

Home now.
And they still f'ed up the order after I repeated it at the second window!

1st. Experience @ upper James location, everything looks fresh except Chicken in the "Chicken Habenero spicy burger" on Nov. 07 @ around 3: 45 to 4Pm. Advice to customer check your stuff before you leave the window and to the owner make sure everything goes fresh

Best A&W location for me and my best friend in Hamilton. Lots of memories of late night hangout. It's neat and organized for dine in. There is a section which gives more privacy as well. Food quality is great as well and never fails.

It's A&W. The food is always good and the Onion Rings are some if the best out there (personal opinion) and this location can often provide some interesting activity given where it's located.

Very good tasted like real ground.fresh not frozen meat with just the right amount of toppings so you could also taste thr meat and not just the toppings. Marley liked hs also with bacon & cheese only Marley's my pug.the best A&W ive had since 1967 when they would roller skate to yout car.

Dinner rush aside, the food was relatively fast, hot and fresh! Always a tasty burger and the Root Beer can't be beat.

Every payday its teen burgers with the lettuce wrap. So simple yes so ingenious and absolutely delicious. Love this place, fresh good, great service, and use the app for great prices and coupons!

World class root beer. World class hamburgers. World class paper straws. But how are you gonna charge me 6.99 for a kids meal consisting of two strips and some fries? I hope someone at head office is given a stern talking too over this. You think I'm gonna shell out thirty bucks for 8 tendies and some fries? Never again.

The girl who works at drive thru name jason is above and beyond! Soft spoken and hard working girl. I love to have the beyond meat burger whenever I go there! Staff super friendly.

Whomever was cooking last week made everything disgusting. Burgers were cooked to complete dryness and sweet potato fries were overdone.

When you cook you know this bun is burned and after checking it you deliver it to the customer. Really you guys are doing terrible job

Unfortunately someone needs to repair or update the drive thru speaker as it’s very hard to hear and cuts out. As well, normally the person gives you your total or at least says hi when you pull up to the window. I said hi and the girl working at the window just stuck out the debit machine. I don’t think it was intentionally rude maybe she was just in the zone.sadly my root beer was watered down, no carbonation and no ice but again I don’t know if that’s necessarily the staffs fault. Whoever’s in charge needs to keep tabs on that stuff and inform their staff how to work in a drive thru.

I really like how you can change the bun to be a lettuce-wrap, as that takes off some carbs and makes you feel better when eating the burgers:) The prices are a bit high for what you get, but the meat tastes the best out of most fast-food places, and the impossible burger is the closest burger I've tasted to the real thing. The other items are pretty good too, but I normally just get the lettuce wrapped burgers since I think they're the best here:)

Terrible place. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There were atleast 7 people working when I placed my order, and it wasn't really busy, but somehow they managed to mess up my order! First they try to explain that regular bun IS seedless bun, when I specifically ask for REGULAR bun when I order, and by the time they complete my order properly, my onion rings were cold! So I paid $14 for the cold food and messy bun and old, dirty lettuce which I put the picture here!
If you can, please find another nearby a&w rather than going here.

Delicious food and it was served quick, and hot and fresh. YUM! Best burgers in town for fast food by far! Give them a try. You'll live it.

It's okay when hot. I try to go right at lunch time. Seems the freshest then.
Not the friendliest bunch.

Ordered last night around 2: 40 AM, 2 egg and cheese, 2 grand burger and few more stuff. After taking money at the drive thru window lady requested 5-7 Minutes your food will be ready. I order from this location more frequently all the time staff bring the food to car as soon as it’s ready and I feel it always hot. Last night the staff was Lazy or what I don’t know. I waited 25 minutes in the car nobody show up. I went inside the store and I saw my food is ready and there were three girls waiting for me to come inside to pick up my food. It was not hot enough. Till the time I go home my meal was so cold. Never had this experience before. In addition we choose drive thru because we believe you must follow COVID-19 guidelines to keep your customers safe but I ended up going in the store to collect my cold food. In addition while placing order I heard phone ringing. I work in kitchen too and we are not allowed to keep our cellphone with us while working because it contains 250% more bacteria than washroom. I believe A&W must have that policy because I never noticed such things. After last night experience, I believe it’s new staff or needs to retrain them about customer service and food safety. I spent almost $40 and satisfaction level was ZERO.

Went through the drive-thru at 6 am. No one in front or behind us. We were asked to pull ahead and wait for the order. We ordered 1 breakfast sandwich and 2 hash browns. Because it was 6 am, breakfast time! Three people arrived after us, got their orders and left. After waiting ten minutes, the server brought out our food. The sandwich was cold and I was late for work. Not a good experience.

Part of my order was missing and I had to go get it from the front. I also feel that if you are not using disposable plates etc.for eating in, then someone should have to come and take the dishes and scrape the food off not me! I can get that done at a regular restaurant and pay the same price!

I went through the drive thru this morning for a breakfast sandwich. I rarely buy these but I have a long day ahead. I added a hashbrown to my order (did not want the coffee) and when I arrived at the window, the gal working said she made it a combo anyway as it was cheaper. Awesome! I arrived at work, breakfast in hand and no! Not so awesome. All that's in the bag is the sandwich. At almost $8 that was an expensive sandwich.

I should add that as I circled the lot to go to the drive thru there was one person in the place, no one at the counter and I was the only car in the drive thru. For a split second I thought they were closed. As pretty much the only paying customer, how do they get this order wrong? How? Two items to place in a bag? They even gave me ketchup for the hashbrown.

A&W! You can do better.

The food is always perfectly prepared for a fast food restaurant you can tell that these staff really care about their reputation it's such a refreshing experience and what makes them Stand Out compared to McDonald's in terms of Uber Eats or doordash is that the food actually looks the way it's supposed to when it arrives

The service was rather slow and the burgers the Buddy Burgers that I ordered were really dry like as if they've been sitting cooked for quite sometime. Their speed of service was not acceptable considering when we went there their was maybe one other customer in the Drive-Thru.

Food was good but I get tired of companies trying to look environmentally conscious by having their packaging labeled as compostable but not having any options but regular garbage to put it in!

Very good food. It was a little pricey and I enjoy ice in my drinks. But it was probably the best coke I have ever had.

Superb burgers.definitely a place to go to late at night.satisfied the cravings and onion rings made it epic!

Coming on strong in my books but it seems meal combo pricing is creeping up. Killer breakfast hashbrowns for taste.

They have the best onion rings.
Workers are very nice and if like rootbeer they also give free lollipops. Plus free refills on your drinks (dine in only).

Went throught the drivethru when they werent busy. Ordered my food got to the window and they asked me what my order was again and then got every wrong and my beyind burger was dry/overcooked.

Best place for fast food. Little more expensive then the other options. Breakfast here is a favorite.

Washroom was really gross and the smell is through out the building food was hot but needs a really good cleaning

Burger was just okay, not really up to what I am used to from A&W. Onion rings were horrible, all of the coating was just falling off, even before handling them. The mix was way off on the root beer, and barely tasted like any pop I've had. Very dissappointed, and will not be visiting this location again.

Small dining room, quick service, friendly staff, wide variety of burgers and meals, reasonable prices.

Was very poor service. Our order was not correct. And when we were eating the next two customers has to complain and get their orders fixed also.

Here's the deal man, of you like greasy food and like to eat and eat good come try it out! If your friends are hungry they can come to. So if you're a thug or black or Latino come on by I'm home here now. Try it out!

Food was good but service was brutal. We saw a lady come in and ask if they had her burgers done yet. She was waiting in the drive thru spot for ten min. They got our order wrong twice.

Best burger joint for a quick greasy meal. I love the online coupons, they are great when you have a few people together, the meals are super cheap. Root beer is delicious.

Awful service, they tend to take one order from start to end at a time in the drive thru which will leave you waiting 10+ minutes. Poor attitude aswell, do not recommend if you want to utilize "fast food" may aswell sit down in a restaurant somewhere.

Not an ounce of customer service.asked specifically for two combos and they gave us one then a burger on the side.they argued that we never asked for a fry and a drink which we asked for in the beginning.never received the one order of fries and one drink.asked for one combo to be for takeout and they said they’d keep it hot and good.they left it in the bag and the bag broke on the way out the door.ruined a good outing with my family.

Chicken Buddy Burg is disgusting. Now they give you a drink with no straw, no ice and no lid on drink that will allow you to drink it with the lid on.

I like there beyond meat burger. Nice place to eat or take out. I like there paper straws for the drink, however the customer service was pathetic.

A total of 26 bucks for 2 teen burger combo meals. They don't make them like they used to, but you pay more anyways!

When you order food and say that's all and they still try to upsell you. Maybe should concentrate on getting what you ordered correct!

My daughter and I went today and ordered the beyond burger combos. They are excellent and having a fast food option for vegans is awesome. This rating only reflects the upper James location.

When I order I make sure they know to omit cheese and mayo as both contain animal products. I confirm this request when I am paying. We get our food and drive back to work. We then notice both burgers are covered in mayo. So not happy but we go back to have the burgers replaced and new fries as of course the original ones are going cold now.

They were clearly annoyed. No apologies just an obligatory replacement of the incorrect order and see ya. We get back and our burgers are now fine but fries are cold because they just threw them back in the bag.

We all make mistakes and yep sometimes a customer will need something fixed. Being rude on the other hand isn't a mistake but a choice. I recommend A&W just not this one.
