Unbelievable, so sad. I used to love A&W.the chicken strips used to be so good. Real chicken, huge strips and tasty. Now they’re small manufactured strips. The onion rings were also one of my favourites. They were falling apart, soggy, greasy and disgusting.
Won’t be back.

Dirty. Employees were preparing food without gloves. The tables and counters hadn't been wiped down, the outside was full of trash

Could not have had worse service!
Everyone of the 4 staff were all on there phones wouldn’t have noticed me if I didnt call out
When I asked they said I’d have too wait 5 minutes for them to cook it
I asked if I could use the bathroom and they said it’s out of order

Abhorrent service

The food was ok. Teen burger on a lettuce bun. Was just ok.
It was one million-degrees centigrade outside, and both my dining companion and myself needed one of those frozen caramel coffee drinks to just survive. Of course, the machine was down, “being cleaned, ” was the response, and no frozen treats were available. No iced coffee, no nothing, outside of fountain drinks. Not sure how, on the hottest day EVER, the machine dispensing life-saving frozen beverages is “being cleaned” and not available is beyond me. I get that cleaning is required, even Frank Sinatra had to clear his throat, but what about on the overnight shift (“Drive-Thru Open 24-Hours”) ?
This was a most unsatisfactory visit.

Terrible service. Slow as molasses. I'm the only one in the restaurant. Took fifteen mins for three drinks.

A couple things to note about this A&W
1. The night crew lack the ability to read. Numerous times I have ordered from skip and they always, always mess up. Today, and the reason I am writing this review, they not only forgot my lettuce bun (what if I was celiac? ! I just wouldn’t be able to eat!) they also forgot my ketchup and extra patty. This is not the first time they have made mistakes on my order. It’s fairly consistent with the night crew. This is the only late night vegan option available and it’s so unfortunate that they have a collective IQ of 10.2.if you go inside expect a mess & music blasting from their kitchen. Downtown hammies finest hangs out here and GOD FORBID the employees clean up the mess left behind (misc garbage, I don’t expect them to pick up needles of course). Worst A&W in the city, possibly worst A&W in North America and that’s saying something considering the American A&W’s reputation. It’d be wiser to spend your night starving than to waste a dollar here.

Absolute garbage service outside regular business hours, they will not serve fries or anything other than main burgers, even if I ask for junior burgers they told me sorry can't be done. Why advertise 24 hours if you can't produce.

Looks like staffers were having friends over and customer's like me were interrupting that. Not a stellar experience.

Ordered 2 strips along with other stuff, the staff asked if it's the kids pack. I said I'd rather order just the strips and chocolate cream shake separately. When I checked the bill, they charged me for the whole kids strip pack (which includes apple slices, chocolate milk, fries) and when checked with the manager, was told that the price is same be it combo or regular! Even if that was the case, I think the staff should have mentioned it while billing. Chocolate cream shake deserves a special mention, it was more like a frozen chocolate milk with little sugar and no cream in it!

Still going strong even after the big fire next door. Always good quality on the food and usually pretty fast all in all.

Had to wait 15 minutes to order as staff was too busy talking with friends and preparing them some extra food to go. Stood there listening to them discussing a party for later when the staff finished work.

You could quite literally raise farm animals and crops from birth til death, wait for them to die a natural death/and/or harvest said animals/vegetables, and personally rip apart whatever vegetable or animal you're requesting, construct the menu personally, and build every meal suited to individual needs, and somehow everything you've ever ordered comes out completely wrong, six weeks late, and with zero consideration to brand policy. I don't need to express disappointment as I'm sure parental figures have already done their damage. But I'd reconsider what, if any, leadership qualities exist within the owners of this business, and genuinely contemplate whether they are in this for moneys sake (which is glaringly apparent despite the melted signs and complete disrespect for your employees emotional, mental, physical or financial well being).
TLDR; your employees deserve a raise, your franchise management is hot diarrhea in a Dixie cup and you're selling yourselves as hot s**t in a wine glass. You're fast food. Be fast or let the f-bois fill the late night void.
To the G that operated the entire restaurant singlehandedly in a not-great area, you get a million stars. To the owners, I hope your funerals are empty ones and when you eventually meet He*l, I hope your roommate has top bunk and violent diarrhea.

Good food, clean place, but service is atrocious. Please have additional staff for taking orders. First time I've ever walked out because there was no one available to take my order

Great meal as always, except the new frozen root beer needs more syrup. It's more like "hint of root beer".

The fries were like they reheated them in a microwave and a day old. The lady who took our order was rude towards me and my brother.

I ordered a teen burger combo. It was fresh, generous with toppings on burger.

Service was fast, friendly and most important made correctly with no hassles.

Location there's not to much to say. Depending on the person some feel comfortable in the area, some don't.

. I went there in the morning. Brandon literally tells me to use washroom i have to buy something. I bought the coffee well but didn’t want it so asked them to keep it.washroom was so dirty that i cant used it. Such a money earning motive

Update May 2023:
For a fast food place, Great Burger (Teen Burger). Good fries. Really good onion rings. Deserves more than 3 stars. But those shakes.yuck. Threw away both a chocolate and a strawberry shake. They're hideous. I'd ask for my money back on that fancy new machine. It doesn't seem to work well. And what happened to frosty mugs for pop? If you're going to stop with the cold mugs (and why would you?) you probably should have ice.

Update:
Dear A&W (corporate) how did you make something as bad as the Nashville Chicken sandwich? And the gall to charge more than Popeyes. If Popeyes chicken sandwich is a 9 I would have to rate A&W's a 2. There's simply nothing good about it. I don't eat at McDonald's but I don't think even they could make a sandwich as bad as this.
And I know it wasn't from sitting around too long before they handed it to me because the onion rings were cold. I only ordered the two things so that means my 5 minute wait was for the chicken.
It was thin, dry and nasty.

Staff was so friendly and I live food I got hot food, store was so cleaned nd I love that clam environment.

Tried to use the drive-thru around 9: 30 on Friday night. There was a pile of wood and metal debris alongside and jutting into the drive-thru lane from a knocked down fence (with more junk piled on), so we had to drive very carefully to avoid damaging our car. We sat at the speaker for several minutes waiting for someone to ask to take our order. We decided to go elsewhere, as the dining room is usually kind of sketchy. We tried to drive around the building to leave, only to find a post with a sign where the lane meets the sidewalk. That meant we couldn't get through to the road and were forced to back out through this obstacle course in the rain, trying not to scratch the car with one of the posts or pipes sticking into the laneway.
If the drive-thru is closed, maybe put up a barrier so people don't have to go through this. Maybe another post with a sign on it saying "Drive-Thru Closed" or "Do Not Enter", like the other sign at the exit says.

Dropped in late on a Saturday night to grab a coffee for the morning. Staff was amazing. Crowd outside, not so much.

Ended up going to another a&w as we couldn't wait for the service in this one. There was a lineup, only two employees working and one of them was busy filling the online orders. Ended up leaving
