Don't try the frozen A&W root beer, your better off getting the normal root beer. The machine injects root beer syrup with about 85% ice and is blended to a smoothie that tasted like a water down root beer.

Unless you have a lot of time to waste, avoid at all costs. Horribly slow and disorganized

Today is Wednesday, August 24,2022. I visited this place. I have been visiting this place regularly. This means that I have analyzed the cleanliness, service and behavior of the staff of this place. I always try to give my opinions unbiased and fair. The staff are mad, tired and very unprofessional. It seems that these employees are forced to work there. They are not happy to see customers and they are not happy to serve them. They provide service with attitude and unprofessionalism. So, I don't want to be served by such staff because I don't know how do they prepare and handle my food. They need to be retrained, and retold about the importance of the customers. Otherwise, I do not recommend this location.

Good food but long wait. Maybe it was just short staffed when we went.

Update. Aug 2022. Not very busy, but they made everyone in the drive thru wait in parking spots. Not sure whats happening with this place.

One of the best takeout hamburgers around. I got the Uncle Burger, although I am not an uncle. Generous layers of the freshest lettuce and tomato and a really tasty burger keep me coming back. I don't usually order French fries, but I make an exception here.

Not pleased at all with cleanliness.
Several tables had not been cleaned, floors dirty, condiment area disgusting. Generally, whole place needs a good cleaning. As for staff - if you have time to lean, you have time to clean.

I waited behind one car after ordering for almost 10 minutes before I got to the window and had to wait a few more. When I finally get my order it was a regular root beer, not a float, which we realized immediately and let them know at the window. They asked us to pull around front to wait and we waited for another 15 minutes for a single root beer float. While we waited 2 orders who walked in store and the 3 cars behind us got their orders. I can't imagine it takes that long to add ice cream to root beer. Eventually we just went in store to ask why its taking so long and the employees just forgot about us. All in all it took me nearly 40 minutes from ordering till I received my completed order, one root beer float and one sweet potato fry. Pathetic experience. I wish I could give it zero stars

I felt bad for the two employees who seemed to be struggling to stay afloat. AW would be better off just closing the store if they cant staff it.

We have been to A&W locations all across Canada have had consistently great food. We get the chicken strips and fries and they’re always piping hot and perfect.
This is the only fast food I eat because it’s too damn good to give up!

Well I used the drive thru. It wasn't busy when I went which was great. My order was taken very quickly by a very friendly lady which was full of joy, she double checked to make sure that I wasn't forgetting anything else. It didn't take very long to recieve my drink and lunch, I had an online coupon so the cost wasn't very much either. My meal was hot and very tasty.
I've been to this location before with no problems as well. I will return in the near future as it is a very comfortable and enjoyable restaurant to be at. The other employees are all just as friendly. Thank you A&W for making my visit a pleasurable one

Messed up my order. Food tasted okay but it was expensive and gave me a stomachache which fast food normally doesn’t do. Shame since other A&W locations are great.

The English muffin with extra bacon, egg, and cheese was okay.

The Teen Burger with 7 Grain is delicious!

But this location has issues with providing warm food. 2 times out of 3, the food arrives cold.

Food was not hot, just lukewarm. Onion rings did not seem up to usual A&W standard. Not terrible but I expect more from A&W

Drive thru only apparently. Doors are looked against take out orders. Coffee tastes bad there too. The burgers are good if you are allowed to buy it at all

I got an English muffin with extra bacon, egg, and cheese. It's an okay breakfast. Nothing wrong but nothing spectacular in the same breath.

I enjoy A&W but this one needs management, they open at 8 but wasnt able to get in till 8: 10, the coffee wasnt ready, the meat is under cooked & your options for toast are warm bread or burnt.

No receipt in the Bag ever. I called the store to have them bring me my receipt to the parking after going through the drive Through. I am contractor that writes off my meals so I need the receipt. Also noticed that I was over charged 2 times. I believe this location does not give you the receipt because they are adding a 1$ or 2$ to every customer. I confronted the girl about it and she got nervous. 1 week later I go there again walk in and still no receipt doing the same thing.
If people are buying items from your store it's the law to provide receipt to your customers. Very annoyed by level of unprofessionalism and fraud

We just went to this location and specifically asked if the chicken burgers were freshly made since there were no customers period in the parking lot. Drive through attendant very slow and thick did not understand the question and we received cold food. Terrible food and under qualified employees onsite.

30 minutes each time in the drive thru every single time. Dont bother. Especially if you're working

A&W is a great fast food place, there's just some things I wish they would fix. As someone who doesn't really like meat, and is trying to cut down. I thought that a&w's beyond meat Burger would be a great alternative, and it really is. The Burger is definitely better tasting in my opinion than an actual meat Burger. I've had it about 3 times now and all times it's tasted really great. I then went to the website to get more information on it and find out it's not vegan or vegetarian, no it's not because of the cheese or even the condiments on the burger because those can be taken off. The beyond meat burgers are cooked on the same grill as the regular burgers. That means it's not vegan or vegetarian. I was thinking how in Canada we don't have many cheep vegan or vegetarian options in fast-food. So what's stopping A&W from making it vegan and vegetarian friendly? This is what I thought about on the drive home. The Burger was still great though.: -P

I swung by A and W’s to get a fresh Cheese and Egger in the morning and they gave me an egg that looks like it’s been sitting for hours. The yolk was completely gelled over and the cheese was cold like it was taken out of the fridge a minute prior to making my sandwich. When I approached them about the matter they mentioned to me that they made it fresh on the spot. I asked them to make me another one and they did so reluctantly and it came out totally normal like a fresh breakfast sandwich at A and W’s. A and W sandwiches are usually a hard thing to mess up. This location is off and I would stay away.

Everything tastes good.but $30 for 2 combo meals (teen burger med.rootbeer and med.fries) is way too pricy. For that I'll go to 5Guys, or Law&Orders and get way better quality

From my experience, probably the worst fast food joint in the west end. You're much better off heading to McDonald's down the road.

Went mid-day, around lunch time on a weekday, I was the only car that went through the drive thru. Ordered a fairly standard burger combo with onion rings and a soft drink.

The price was the first thing that caught me. Several dollars more than you'd usually pay for a similar combo at Wendy's or McDonald's or Harvey's.

What made it really regrettable was that the burger was really nothing special. You'll get better at other fast food joints. To make things worse, staff clearly weren't checking on the soft drink syrup levels, as my drink was almost entirely water. Finally, the onion rings were clearly fried quite some time ago and served cold, as they had no warmth to them, even as I took a bite of it less than a minute after receiving it.

Could have just been a one-off bad experience, but I don't see myself going back there for a while, if at all.

Great facility, well managed, all Covid procedures are maintained.

It's A&W, , you like it or you don't. Good service here. Went inside since valid coupon wouldn't work on the app so I showed the gentlemen in side v and they fixed me up. Then they said they would deliver it out to my car, so I could go and wait outside, great service option in this time. Good staff!

Order window was quick and they offered to bring out the food bc it was early and they needed to cook the burger. Not my best breakfast decision, but they did great:)

Out of all the fast food joints, A&W serves the BEST burger of them all.
I love my Big Mac but A&W's burgers (esp.their Teen Burger) tastes like a home made Burger.
Their fries are also sooooooo good.
Why can't french fries be 'healthy'?

Used the drive thru and the start eating and everything is cold. My meal was 16$ and everything was cold. Very disappointing!

One of the only places left that won't allow you to pick up food inside for take out. They won't, at the very least, even allow Uber or Skip drivers to pick up the orders inside. They force the drivers to sit in the drive thru and wait for the long line to move ahead.

Been there couple times. Always great food, clean restaurant, even offered to bring my food at table coz of wait on fresh fries. DEFINITELY GOING BACK.

Have tried the Stittsville location several times. Each time proved disappointing, unfortunately. This time, Drive thru meal was cold. Drinks completely watered down. Usually fast food is our go to comfort food, but I have to say that this is the first time both my son and I have been completely turned off from ever having burgers and fries/onion rings again.

Incredibly slow and disorganized. Amenities inside the restaurant need refilling. Waited in line for 5-6 minutes with two other customers in front of us, no orders being taken. It wasn't even busy, fewer than 5 customers dining inside the store, a slow trickle of drive-through orders. Maybe those were just slow for the same reasons, though. Nobody seems to have been trained in food safety; lots of bare hands touching food and faces and other food.

Great food at great prices. Sometimes the root beer can be flat, but that’s not their fault. Would recommend the double mozzarella combo.

Less greasy than most hamburger places. Antibiotic free meat and real cheese. Environmentally friendly packaging.

Uncle is the only burger I'll buy from A&W, when it's on for $6, real cheese is nice change from most other chains

I gave them one star because I can’t give zero. The worst branch that I have been to, and the staff is so rude. Normally I don’t care about rating restaurants and stores, but my experience was so bad that I had to go online, look for there store and write this.

A&W have really upped their game in the past few years. The beef tastes like, well, beef and the chicken options are good. They even have a beyond meat option for those who want to go all plant-based. And, of course, the delicious root beer in frosty mugs (if you eat in)

Worst A&W in the Ottawa area IMO. Always slow service with staff that doesn't greet you with an enthusiasm at all.

Terrible service. Will not be returning again and I was a repeat customer at this location before today's situation. All I wanted was one drink, nothing else and it turned into a huge problem.

This particular location was in complete disarray. The staff dont listen to customer orders. They dont clean as required

They weren't busy, just a few customers in and they got my order wrong on a long trip leaving me with a burger neither of us could eat and one I can't eat on a 4 hour trip.

Went for breakfast. It was pretty good for a fast food joint. Everything was freshly made. Coffee was ok but wish I could've added my own sugar and cream (they do it for you) as I ended up getting coffee with my cream. I give it 3.5 stars.

Oh dear me. 25 minutes so far for two burgers? Seems like enough staff and there's 8 customers in the restaurant. What is going on? Defo not Fast food.

Horrible service. Got a big order to go for 6 kids and 4 adults. Missing a burger and two fries. What a joke. Oh, and I would not eat in store.its always so dirty! Frankly, makes me wonder how clean food prep is. We won't be going back.

I love A@W you can get a buddy burger at 7: 00 am you will have to wait a bit longer. But who cares. A buddy burger at 7: 00 am Yummy:)

Slowest service.ever. I watched my food sit there for almost 10 minutes. I was tempted to get it myself. Everytime I go they are utterly useless, they need to fire everyone and do a re-hire. Doesnt get worse than this place.

A&W has the best breakfast egg sandwich. The egg is fresh and cooked on the griddle. Coffee is AE Van Houtte. I'm also pleased with A&W's commitment to composting and recycling.

I absolutely don’t like leaving bad reviews. It reminds me of those people who’s got nothing better to do.
Unfortunately once in a while I feel compelled dot do just that.
With great regret I have to say that I’m disappointed at the service and good we’ve received at this location. Two time I took my son to get a veggie burger. Both times it was after 4pm and we were served (he was) by employee who barely spoke English. Not speaking English is ok everyone needs to learn, but when you don’t speak the language but also have a bad attitude, don’t try to listen or even remember what customer orders to the point that customer repeats, repeats, repeats and finally realizes we probably going to get something else. First time my son didn’t get what he ordered, after 3 tries. Second time it was not even veggie. Not cool: (

Slow service, dirty restaurant that serves moldy buns to their customers. Tried to be nice and deal with them over email but I'd guess they would rather get the bad review.
