I have nothing but positive things to say about Baker & Baker. From the initial process, to setting up a consultation with my lawyer Andrew Sudano it was all very informative and encouraging.
Every time I spoke to the receptionist or communicated via email everything was fast and efficient.
I can’t say enough positive things about my lawyer Andrew Sudano, I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this process but he was so honest, straight to the point and very respectful of my time. He ended up achieving my goal for retaining him and explained everything along the way.
My only regret was not retaining him for my initial conflicts. Thank you Andrew, I will be grateful.

I recently did a cohabitation agreement through Baker and Baker. The meeting with Andrew was pleasant he is a very well spoken individual.i was quoted a price to do the cohabitation agreement that I agreed with so I decided to proceed. I realized after that time is very important, no matter if you or your party is delayed Baker and Baker will keep charging you on the 1st and the 15th of the month no matter the quote. My gf has also gotten a lawyer for her half and her lawyer was on point with daily updates and confirmation on the emails that had been sent to Baker and Baker no charge price included. Baker and Baker did not reply to lawyer right away usual the day after or 2 days after. The print out of the cohabitation agreement was not clear as in the ink ran out!? ! My gf and I both have online copies of the cohabitation agreement, oddly enough the barley legible contract was scanned back to the computer to send to her lawyer and my self as copies! Does that sound professional? Why was I not given the original clear paper contact? Clear is a big word here!
Last but not least you have to give them a down payment and if you have money left over, they will not give it back to you! They will tell you how much you have left but will not send the cheque.not professional and somewhat feels illegal as I did not donate the left over money. Unfortunately I did not make the right decision to go with this law firm. Please avoid this place it will not do a good job for you.

Alison Dennis- remember this name as she is the lawyer you want! And, yes, she is worth every penny!
After a grueling, 2.5 years expensive experience with other lawyer on the same issue, in only 1 year (during COVID lockdowns), with Alison, I was able to finally put my case to rest.
Last year, after my disappointment that my case was not going anywhere and firing my old lawyer, I finally came across Baker & Baker’s office and retained Alison. I needed someone who understands my case and my position. It was a complicated case that included an evaluation of a private business and all the intricacies that come with that. Alison was able to agree with me right away and told me to stop worrying- she was there to help. I followed her advice as we needed to consult various experts and re-evaluate the practice. It seemed expensive and long at the beginning, but that was the right approach. Alison was able to analyse and understand both, the personal and business financial information and find many irregularities and errors. Her findings were crucial for me winning the case. I knew that things were wrong and needed her help to prove it. Not only did she untangled the mess that the other lawyer did, she solved my problem relatively quickly and was able to present my case to the judge successfully.
I wish I had met Alison earlier as it would have saved me so much time, money, and grief! I actually paid out the other party only ~1/3 of the amount that my old lawyer advised me to offer…. And so much less than what the other party wanted to receive.

It started out okay but this law firm is a scam operation. My credit card was charged more than double I agreed to. Lawyers in Ontario are generally highly corrupt and incompetent. Donald Baker is no exception. It is sad that Ontario is so backwards when it comes legal matters.

Dealing with a marriage breakup is a very traumatic experience. Dealing also with the mind boggling 'matrimonial law' adds to the stress. I found that working with Alison Dennis helped me to logically sift through the facts and derive a strategy that resulted in a fair and equitable settlement. Moving on with my life. Thank You Alison. I had inquired about this company. I seen all the great reviews. I filled out all the paper work and everything needed. They seemed great at first. However when it came time to pay the retainer, I was originally told it was a certain amount, as per written agreement which was fine. But then they told me it was double the amount a couple months after the fact, but this wasn’t what was agreed upon. I don’t know why it suddenly doubled but when I inquired about it I didn’t get an answer.

They are using my credit card fraudulently. They said to go do whatever I can When I called them and told them about it. They are unbelievable

Spent close to $15k in less than 6 weeks. Was able to get a custody order but not the divorce or assets finalized - be prepared to know what you are dealing with - lesson learned - I can’t say I got my money’s worth - Alin was nice enough but nice didn’t get me a quick settlement and I found the many emails daunting which I expect lawyers rely on given many of us are juggling the emotions of a messy divorce coupled with kids and full time jobs and don’t have time to read the copious amounts of legal jargon riddled emails.

Do your research find a firm that works for you less your money - likely a tough find but surely they exist - $15k for some emails phone calls and docs prepped by a Laywer’s lackey hardly seem like good value in my mind.

Won’t hire another lawyer again that’s for sure - I’m on my own from here on out because I’d rather that money go to my kids than a stranger

Alin Mayer at Baker & Baker made a very stressful process much more pain free than I'd anticipated. Her guidance was invaluable. I dodged some bullets for sure. I was not expecting to pay so much in the end, but I guess that's more my own lack of experience and naiveté. Something upfront of what to expect would have been appreciated.

Highly unprofessional law firm. Trashy people that love engaging in posting fake reviews. Beware of Baker Law, they are professionals in this highly unethical industry.

If you have trouble climbing stairs you might want to avoid this place because there are two flights to climb to get to the office.

My experience with Andrea Di Battista from Baker and Baker has been a remarkable one. As a male navigating through family law was extremely daunting, in a system I felt favored the rights of females. I attempted mediation but quickly found the mediator bias and misleading, the mediator encouraged me to sign off on an agreement that wasn't in the best interest of myself or my relationship with my children. Using fear tactics and threatening me with what could happen if I don't accept the terms of the agreement. The mediator boast of her 100% success rate but I quickly realized that her success rate was more important than a fair agreement. A friend of mine witnessed Andrea advocating for her other clients both male and female and strongly suggested I reach out to her.
Ms. Di Battista took time to review my agreement and ensure the proper amendments were made under the law. She quickly removed the fears I had and explained my rights in detail. Not a good experience using Donald Baker and his team of lawyers. Because of this law firm I no longer get to see my kids. Be very careful about choosing the right lawyer. These guys are only looking out for themselves and do not care about ruining peoples lives.

Terrible service. I tried getting in touch with them twice and both the times this very arrogant lady responded and she was in no mood to assist. Nobody reaches a lawyer for fun. If you are not willing to help someone in trouble then what's your law firm for?

1. Divorce Matter (3 weeks back) - She was very rude on the phone. She was not willing to answer my queries and she sounded as if she is doing a favor on me by taking my call.

2. Support Claim - I thought I should give them a second chance since they have such amazing reviews. She gave me a call after I inputted my details on their website. When she called me, I told her to hold as I was moving out from my office to a corner so that I could speak to her in privacy. She told me she is very busy to hold and she can't hold the phone for me. I should call her back. Later without even listening to my side of the story, she's telling me there is nothing they could do about my case.

So if a father doesn't look after his child and abandons the mother when she is expecting. Later doesn't acknowledge the child and disappear for years, does the child has no right to claim his/her rights when the child grows up? Claim can be monetary or non-monetary.

Why would anyone hire such a rude female to answer customers? Disgusting.

Baker and Baker Family Law provided excellent services for my needs. I am very satisfied with support and services that my lawyer, Alison Dennis provided for me. Her patience and costumer services skills are excellent.

I have setup a consultation with Mr. B. Baker several months ago. He advised me to go, do one thing (not an easy and short process) than come back! And did not charge any retainer! I know that unless you pay something to a lawyer, he is not your lawyer and legally there is no client/attorney confidentiality. He also added that I shouldn't send him anything till than and shouldn't call him.
Well the other side is not standing around and waiting for us to get ready to negotiate! This didn't sit well with me! Here I am; going through one of live's most excruciating experiences, he is assigning me tasks that may or may not be achieved at the end! Till I am done with the tasks, I was on my own! I sent him an e-mail but no response was received. He told me that he will contact my ex's lawyer telling them that he is my lawyer, that didn't happen either. I do not recommend this law office. Go to lawyers who have been in business of going head to head with your aggressive spouses / aggressive lawyer defending your spouse and give it all they have. Look for the past experience and not rich lawyers. In my experience, lawyers and doctors who are in their 30s t0 60;s (Young enough to be loving what they do and old enough to have experience - life and professional, as well as willingness to help find justice instead of reading you the law books or showing you how many books they have on the wall. If they talk to you roses and peace while your spouse is arming herself/himself, roses wont cut it. If your lawyer is practicing in all kinds of fields, forget about him or her! Old and rich lawyers are looking for rich and angry/bitter clients who wants to fight to death in the court room because they have money! Good luck to you all! I don't mean Baker lawyers but there are all kinds of idiots practicing out there who don't even understand the law or informed enough to defend unusual situations.

Alison Dennis is a great attorney and I wish I had found her, and the law firm of Baker and Baker, sooner. She has been able to handle a very complex inter-provincial case ethically and efficiently. If more family law practitioners were as principled as her, I am certain that there would be far fewer jokes on the Internet about lawyers.
