Balzac's Powerhouse

I don't go here often but if you want a good coffee or a bag of coffee beans I highly recommend them.

Lovely atmosphere, super quaint little coffee shop! Only complaint is that at 5: 25pm the staff was a little too pushy about “closing at 6pm” - mentioned it several times, started putting things away and only serving in to-go cups. Killed the mood a little.

Will definitely be back before 5pm next time! Lol

Beautiful spot with a great little back patio. Love this location. It’s tucked away on a side street, you’d never even know it’s a coffee shop! Their americano was great they let you choose exactly how much water you want in it. Proper pastries and sone tasty breakfast sandwiches too.

I don’t think I will ever find a drink as satisfying as the citro booster. It is served either hot or cold, though I think I do prefer the hot version. It’s the perfect mix of spicy from ginger and slightly sweet from honey. I dream of this drink. Anytime I feel like I might be coming down with something or if I am feeling under the weather this is what I crave. It’s also so good without being sick at all! There’s a cute playground right across the street soo nice to be able to grab a coffee/snack before the kids go play.

Great, slightly off the beaten path. Awesome place to meet friends for an awesome coffee and sweet treat.

Small Cafe. High ceilings, both booth seats and tables. Some plants and cute string lights for a nice vibe. Background music. Can get busy, but there's always somewhere to sit. There is plenty of seating for its size. Great coffee and treats. Fairly priced for the quality of coffee they serve. 8.9/10 would recommend

Such a great space to grab coffee and tea with a friend or if I need to do some work in a public place. Great service and atmosphere

Overall disappointed in my first visit to Balzac’s. The hot chocolate was pretty cold and my cup wasn’t filled all the way, but the veggie sandwich was ok (tiny but ok). Only reason I didn’t go back to say something was because the staff were not friendly whatsoever and treated me as if they were annoyed that I came in to order breakfast. Wasn’t worth it. Will not return.

Balzac is a great coffee spot. The space is big and airy with many tables. They have many options beyond coffee- I highly recommend their tea latte selection (pro tip- ask for half sweet)! Also, the hours are amazing, it’s open from 7am-7pm so it’s a great spot for a quick coffee or to sit and get work done for a longer period. They have WiFi and a great selection of treats.

The chai latte is awesome here. And the building itself is so chic. Great spot to get some work done on your laptop or for a coffee with friend. Great selection of baked goods as well!

Great little neighbourhood coffee bar. Treats are great and there's some outdoor seating as well.

Beautiful building, very nice patio. Quiet location. Great tasting coffee! I ordered a iced latte, with cream, no sweetener. Delicious, I ordered a second. Was served by Andria, Very friendly staff. This is my new go to coffee place even though I'll have to travel out of my way.

The staff are extremely kind. They are also very sweet to there own team. I overhead a manager speaking with a staff member and he was accommodating and supportive.

The coffee also is A+ thank you for giving a relaxing spot to sit and read.

No stop to the historic Distillery district would be complete without an awesome brewed drink, I prefer the coffee from Balzacs. Grab and Go sit in the Distillery courtyard. Relax and watch the people walk by.

Don’t think anybody does an iced coffee as good as Blazac’s was so happy to see one next to the park.

Really great team behind the counter. So fun to pop in to get a beverage. Punchy espresso beverages that aren't washed out by the dairy. Consistently upbeat and a pleasure to visit.

This was my first time going to this particular location. But I have to say I need to go here more often!

We love to come to balzac on powerhouse. We have been coming since it opened. However in the last months, consistently, the staff does not make baked goods like croissants and scones available on the app. They keep on forgetting and only make it available once you let them know. It happens at 8am, 9am and 10am. Major inconvenience when you wAnt to place an order online and just pick it up to minimize interactions.
It would be amazing to tweak the process to have goodies available before the store opens.
Otherwise we are very happy.

Delicious coffees and espresso based drinks! The staff are very friendly. They also sell beers from local breweries.

Nice looking place inside a old mill type building. The only downside is that it’s bit expensive. Otherwise it’s like Starbucks only fancier. ️

This location has wonderful staff who are wonderful to the children I work with and myself. When we've been low on funds by a dollar they have been so grateful towards me. I always tip on my coffee and cookie and they are worth it. So delicious

I went there and then bought a bag of their whole bean coffee at Costco. It's the Farmers Blend variety. The bag is more than half empty. It's a 2 lbs bag. I bought it last week at Costco. So I'd say it's pretty good coffee considering my rate of consumption.

The lactose free Parisian Fog tastes like hot vanilla icecream (in the best way) great service! Recommended!

There’s a water station you can fill up your bottle here. It’s helpful so you don’t have to wait in line for water.

This is a beautiful space with the decor and tiling fitting a modern cafe style.

Service is fine, could be improved a bit as the Barista seemed a bit annoyed when I inquired about the drink ingredients.

Surprisingly great cup of coffee. I get an Americano Misto with oatmilk everywhere I go and this is definitely a top 10 in the city based on my experience. Nice warm nutty notes in their espresso beans. One thing that’s confusing is how they ask if you want a medium or large which seems to be the case only at a handful of places. From my POV each cup should have a default that is optimized for the best balance. If someone wants less water, more water, more milk etc.then let them prompt it.

Pretty nice, cozy coffee place. The coffee was smooth as well. Reminded me of Ottawa's Bridgehouse.

Cute coffee shop tucked away in an otherwise nondescript area. It's great to see this class of establishment popping up in this area. Great coffee, good staff, good snacks at your standard gentrification prices. A little hard to find and not well known. Gets a little busy in there, which is not surprising given it's the only quality shop on the area.

I go here almost every day! The place is always amazingly clean, the staff is SO friendly and treat you like you're super special. Everything food or drink is delicious! The perfect cafe, honestly.
