Banana Leaf Asian Cuisine

We had a family party of 8 for dinner on a Friday night. Our host/waiter was excellent. It took us a while to decide what we wanted but we were never rushed. The food was hot and scrumptious. Everyone was delighted by the atmosphere and the food. We were able to visit and take pictures while feeling very welcome to stay. It was a wonderful evening! Thank you for making this evening memorable!

This is hands down, the most extraordinary, authentic Chinese cuisine I have ever tasted in my life and travels. Food is made fresh to order, no heavy artificial sauces. Lean cuts of beef, chicken, to die for. Generous wine list, at good prices. If you have not yet visited this gem, you are in for a treat. Soon to become YOUR favourite restaurant.

I brought my mom here for a birthday lunch as she had wanted to eat here for a long time. We really enjoyed the food! The service was great and the restaurant is very cozy. I would have never thought of coming in because it looks so small from outside, but I was pleasantly surprised and it is very affordable as well.

Not $$! It is now more like $$$$! Within the last year our dinner for two went from $49 to $72 and what used to be three entrees is now only two. Very disappointed in pricing change. For $72.00 I can do ribeye and lobster and that is now the way my wife and I think.

I reached out to Banana Leaf to cater an office lunch and throughout my interactions with them, I was very pleased. Tom worked hard to find the right set of dishes to please our employees and WOW were we delighted. They showed up early, set up our food and were warm and friendly. Our employees complimented every dish. The food was tasty, fresh (hot) and was a REAL CROWD PLEASER! Multiple people came up to me after lunch saying they'd never heard of this restaurant, but would be going there soon. We even had some leftovers which employees were glad to tale home. Needless to say, I will be ordering from them again! A+

I don’t like soup usually. But I got the sweet & sour anyway. Loved it! So tasty. Small is quite a lot too.

The szechuan chicken, the chicken stir fry were the most flavourful Chinese food dishes I’ve had so far in the GTA.

I've eaten here before and I highly recommend it, but I gave the food a four star rating because my take out was salty, the wonton soup and Manchurian Beef was too salty to enjoy. Other than that, great portions and great food. The service is a little lacking because the host is multi tasking between greeting patrons, setting up tables, helping to sort take out, etc. But the staff are friendly and work hard to make you happy.

Oh. My. Goodness! The quality, flavour, and service of this restaurant are second to none. The decor is also pleasant, calming.
My daughters, grand-daughter and I love Asian cuisine - Thai, Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese - and let's just say we have sampled enough to know outstanding quality and preparation when we taste it! This place is well worth a visit. We will be back on our next girls' trip to Niagara!

A gem hidden in Stoney Creek. Food is terrific and fresh. Owners are friendly and provide great service.

Food & service were spot on, they inquired if we had allergies & told us the length of the time for one of the items we’d ordered. Two of us are vegetarians & 1 a meat eater - there’s something for everyone. Hidden gem in the creak!

I've ordered takeout from here twice, and unfortunately it was very mediocre both times. The flavours were just never quite right or strong enough. I was really hoping for this to be my staple Chinese food place close to home, but will unfortunately have to look further as it does not meet the threshold of "good enough. "

Tasty food and nice staff! Family of 4 shared 2 meat dishes, 1 veggie, house special fried rice, calamari and mango salad. Would come again!

Literally got undercooked chicken. Realized after two bites and have been sick since yesterday. Staff is rude and inconsiderate. Save your time and money.

1. I didn’t order the food nor did I know where it was from. I asked my friend after getting sick and she didn’t wanna call and deal with you guys given how you’ve treated customers in the past.

2. I’m not trying to defame anyone and I never leave bad reviews but this is about my health and if we’re on the topic the food wasn’t good either. Previous reviews about it being too sweet and overly priced for what is provided are spot on.

3. This is a review section. I’m allowed to give my honest review and it is also an opportunity for you to better your business rather than arguing online. I’m only replying due to your absurd reply. I will not be doing so going forward nor will I delete my review.

Ordered take out for a birthday party. Very fresh and delicious. Staff was very kind and appreciative. Would recommend to anyone!

Amazing experience here tonight. Very friendly service and absolutely delicious food! Good portions, fresh, and tasty!

We decided to order tonight as a special treat. The polite gentleman on the phone paid close attention to our dietary allergy to green pepper. And when we got the take-out order home, we were very pleased to see that there was no green pepper at all. We got the special dinner for two that comes with a choice of 3 entrees, vegetable spring rolls, two wonton soups, and jasmine rice. The total (taxes included) came to $67.06. The food tasted great. My husband and I think it might have tasted even better within the actual atmosphere of the restaurant. My favourite part was the wonton soup. My husband’s favourite part was the general zuo chicken. The order was ready when I arrived to pick it up at 6: 00pm sharp. The polite gentleman packed it expertly in a cardboard box for me to easily carry to the car. There was enough leftover for another meal.

I’ve been a fan of this restaurant since we moved to Stoney Creek - ordering their food time and again with majorly positive experiences. However, my experience tonight was disappointing enough for me to never want to go back.

We placed an order with hot and sour soup, chili chicken, general zuo’s chicken and chicken udon noodles - our usual order. Upon going home, we saw that the chili chicken was in fact 90% vegetable stir-fry and 10% chicken which is pathetic because we ordered a chicken dish. In fact, while placing the order, the specifically asked him to ensure that there was chicken and not an overwhelming amount of veggies (of which the guy took note). The general zuo which is usually my favorite was so odd - the chicken had fish-like soft mushy consistency. We called up the place and told them about the order mishap, to which the front desk man said “come into the restaurant” and literally cut the phone on us while we were speaking. Upon making the drive over and taking the food in (which no customer should even have to do), the guy at the front desk was rude and told us the chef will talk to us. The chef approached us, opened the food and aggressively shoved his hands into the chicken and wagged the piece of chicken, with gravy splattering outside the dish. He responded by saying “This is chicken, I cooked it so I know there was chicken. You took it home so I don’t know if this is true”. Utterly disgusted and disappointed that someone would be so rude to their customers and mistreat food. Who disrespects food the way this man did? Does he even have the right to call himself a chef? I have literally never seen a chef be so aggressive and crass.towards food. My only two cents would be that you need to teach your staff customer service and let them know that admitting mistakes is a part of growing.

UPDATE TO THE OWNER’S RESPONSE BELOW:
1) Firstly, I see your initial comment calling us “so greedy”. “Greedy customers” wouldn’t have called you up with constructive feedback, or given you your full serving of vegetables back. Or driven all the way to you to rectify your problem. (See attached picture for their initial comment)
2) We never once asked for our money back. You could have apologized for your lack of quality and we would have gladly let it go. We actually told you over the phone that we have already eaten about half the General Zuo’s but are not sure if it is chicken or fish because chicken is never soft. (We were 5 people having dinner, so if everyone takes one spoon, that’s enough for half of the dish to be finished) You still asked us to bring it in. As for the “chicken” chilli, attached is a picture of it looking as full as it was when we got it. So please don’t paint a false picture and mislead people about the fact that we ate the food and got a refund. God knows we were fully transparent and honest.
3) We absolutely have no desire to be a continued customer so let’s not hold false delusions. Please continue doing business with complete lack of etiquette. It is your continued ignorance and rudeness which speaks for itself. I truly have done my best to support small businesses including yours and will continue to do so. But I will not stand fingers being pointed for no reason. We paid for your services and deserved quality food and service, it was not free food over which you can bash us. Hope you can understand how hurtful it was to be received by rude employees and now a rude response, thus sharing this review is definitely not online bullying. Wish your small business the best of luck!

Everything is so tasty and well prepared.
A very happy, home atmosphere, and the service, is truly amazing. It has been years since I've had an attentive server, doing a great job without asking me how am I doing, every 10 minutes, he just observed. He was very accommodating, and ready with suggestion.
Well be back with family or friends for sure.

Food was delicious and the amount served was reasonable. The taste was quite balanced and it was suitable for my toddler as well. Restaurant’s ambience was good and was quite clean! Staffs were very polite and helpful.

This is the best Asian restaurant in Hamilton! We usually have a red curry beef and a green curry chicken lunch special and it’s always delicious! The hot and sour soup is out of this world (if you like it spicy)! The service is always outstanding and the atmosphere is chill and cosy. We’ll be back for sure!

Pad Thai was sickening sweet and drowning in sauce. The flavours were not like any Pad Thai I've ever had before. Chili chicken was more like a stir fry chicken.flavours were good, but we were expecting Hakka style, which this was not. Flavours were not for me and waaaay too expensive for what it was

Banana Leaf is fantastic! My gf got the red curry chicken casserole and it was easily the best I've tasted. I ordered the Singapore Vermicelli and it was delicious. Portions were huge, and the service in the restaurant was very friendly. I definitely recommend this place!

Although the hot and sour soup was really good I have to say the other dishes were not. There is barely any flavor and primarily tasted salty. I got the beef dish and the cashew chicken stir fry, and it was nothing special. On top of that we only got one rice side when we had ordered two main dishes. Way too overpriced.

I don't think I would eat here again.

I have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant for years that I have been living in Hamilton, I finally find it! We were hosting an event for 50 people early August 2021. We were checking some reviews when we came across Banana Leaf. We never tried their food. We made a call and spoke to Tom the owner. An appointment was set right away with Tom. We met with him, sat with him for about and hour. Tom is a very friendly and accommodating person. He listened to us made provide us with some good advices and suggestions. Right away we knew that this is the guy we can trust even though we have never tries his food yet. They have a very extended menu. To make a long story short. We chose 7 different dishes for the event and ordered his Sesame beef stir fry to bring home to eat. Wow it was so delicious! Some of the dishes that we ordered for the event was not even on the menu. We only asked Tom if he could do it for us and there were no problem at all, again as I said before Tom was very accommodating and very helpful. Communication with Tom was excellent he sent follow up email as we get closer to the date. The food were delivered on time. We ordered the skewer platter, assorted seafood in satay sauce, sesame beef stir fry, mango chicken stir fry vegetable fried rice, China-Town style crispy chicken (not on menu) and another not on menu dish. They were all so delicious and I kept receiving all kind of compliments on the food from our guests. Well I guess Tom the compliments should go to you and your Chef. Thank you so much for the good food and also for your kindness and your assistance! Hats off to you and your Chef. Now I know where to go whenever I want to eat some good Chinese food!

I had the orange chicken and spring rolls and they were definitely the best chinese food I've ever had
The orange chicken was perfect, sweet and orangey but not overpowered, a good balance with salty and umami
Rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked
Spring rolls fantastically crispy, not too oily, delicious dipping sauce

This place is my favorite place. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to that place. Whenever I I need a fair lunch, this restaurant comes straightaway to my head.best and all sorts of food and a rich menu.trained staff, and great vibes. Not less important, the cost is modest. I recommend this restaurant with great pleasure.
