I've been going here for years. Best banh mi in the city and it's a great value even at $5 these days. Prepackaged meals cost a dollar less if you go near closing.

Probably one of the best banh-mi places in Toronto. Their lemongrass and honey garlic sausage banh-mi are to die for. The fact they continue to charge $5 for a banh-mi sandwich despite grocery conflation is beyond crazy. Totally recommend this place to everyone!

This is the place. If you love your banh mi, do yourself a damn favour, don't go to that sparkly, fancy, modern looking banh mi shop your friend keeps telling you about, and save your money.

The sandwiches are a bargain, this place is authentic, and serves up probably the best banh mi you've eaten in the last 13 months.

You're welcome.

Omg No. This banh mi is not good. My family is from Vietnam. Ive been to Vietnam and had man many banh mi and even make them at home. Bread was stale, meat was cheap. They barely added vegetables or peppers. Luckily it did have the sauce so it was edible but my wife and I was shocked since the reviews and history of the place. Shame on u guys.

Good price but unfriendly staff. It was our first time there so we weren’t familiar with what they offered on the menu. I asked for a minute and the ladies rushed us to choose and then got our orders wrong. They didn’t even apologize but laugh and acted like it was okay.

Have been going here since I was little, good for cheap fast sandwiches, but if you ask for extra carrot in a regular cold cut sandwich, they grab a premade one and lie that they put extra in there and yell at you if you try to point that out. Ba Le around the corner is more expensive but at least they're more attentive to the customer's requests.

The best banh mi in toronto! I remember back in the days when you would buy 10 banh mi they would give one for free! Those days are over. The taste is still the same with fresh ingredients. We always stack up 20banh mi + cold cuts + vietnamese treats when we come down to Toronto. Great pricing, as of Oct 2022 it's 4$ for a small and 5$ large banh mi.

Take out restaurant serving cheap and quick Banh Mi. Taste varies with selection but overall very worth it for the price.

They also have other ready to go food for sale, ie.rice noodles, etc.

Note: It's cash only

Cheap and delicious banh mi.  I always want to swing by when I’m in Toronto. They also have nem nuong spring rolls and snacks on the side. Wish I had a place like this in my city. Just a heads up that it’s cash only.
14 October 2022 18:44
This is my go-to Vietnamese sandwich place and for other Vietnamese dish staples. They have the best prices and the taste is top notch! (Cash only)

Best value in town for a quick, grab-n-go lunch! Especially in this day and age with inflation at 8%!
08 July 2022 15:10
THEY ARE IN BUSINESS FOR A LONG TIME. THE MORE THEY EXPAND THE MORE GREEDY THEY ARE.
GET VERY UPSET ASKING FOR A LITTLE EXTRA OF SOME VEGETABLE ON THE SUB.
THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT LIKE BEFORE AT ALL
18 June 2022 6:07
Only the best viet sub around, ever! Their patê is so flavourful and I highly recommend the meatball as well if you are looking for something other than the cold cuts! Definitely go for the spicy if you can handle a bit of heat. This was my fav place when I was in Uni - revisited them today after a decade of graduating and still tasted amazing!

A hidden gem. Reasonably priced banh mi and quick takeout meals/snacks. Well-known among locals. Service isn’t the greatest but given the price and the taste of the food, it keeps me coming back.
27 May 2022 23:54
Banh mi is pretty good! I got the veggie and lemongrass tofu, both were delicious! Not as fulfilling as I would like but worth the price.

They only accept cash and are a takeout place.

Vegetarian friendly
27 May 2022 18:56
My sandwich was delicious and shockingly cheap. It was also a very fast process to order and take my food even though there were several people in line when I arrived. I hope to try other sandwich meats next time I come.
23 May 2022 15:21
Assorted banh mi was ok my wife got stomach ache from the pork spread so if anyone with weaker stomach maybe ask for no pork spread.but good sandwich on the go for the price.
19 May 2022 7:43
Had a great experience purchasing stuff from this location. The employees there are very friendly!
16 April 2022 3:57
My favourite place for quick delicious bites! The banh mi thap cam is my favourite, the pate is rich and lovely.

The Vietnamese mayo is the perfect amount of creaminess in contrast to the flakey fluffy bagettue. They have the options of spicy and non spicy, spicy uses Thai chili so be mindful of the spice level if you have a lower tolerance.

The banh cuon is one of my favourite snacks and at $3.50 a plate, quite the steal! Delicious rice rolls stuffed with wood ear mushrooms and minced pork. Make sure to use up all the sauce that is included - it's a sweet fish sauce best served with anything Vietnamese
05 March 2022 23:34
Home-made, delicious and a great price! When I am craving banh mi, I always enjoy them from here! It may not be a modern place but it is a classic place.
02 March 2022 8:20
Same experience as one of the reviewers whom was a long time customer. I avoid coming here because sometimes the service is too unpleasant and I don’t want to pay to be treated like that. The sandwich women are extremely rude. Only one woman whom runs the cash register is pleasant and polite. Once there was a slightly younger overweight woman working the cash register and she was utterly rude (snarky and yelled), whom I suspect could be an owner or owner’s daughter or family member, and I don’t know why I didn’t walk out and all I did was ask questions about the wrapped food. Their cooked food is not the best, but is cheap and edible if you don’t want to pay for better quality elsewhere. The pre-wrapped sandwiches are average and typical, but spicy is never spicy because they’re stingy on the chili peppers. Only go if you’re broke and have no respect for yourself since you have to be okay at being ignored and yelled at.
22 February 2022 14:54
Sweet dessert coconut dips not fresh has sour taste and texture became sticky but still packed sell it to public. Wont buy those! Dont wanna sick
07 February 2022 23:28
Horrible service, they get annoy when the customers cant hear them and the banh mi was cold, i dont like how they treat the customers
19 December 2021 15:31
Was excited to try this place after seeing it on a list of “cheap eats” in Toronto. I was very pleased with the cold cut sandwich and fresh springrolls I got. It came to $9.50 for both.

For the price this place is a steal. Just make sure you bring cash, it’s cash only!
15 December 2021 18:45
Not sure why, but they dont like you taking pictures of the food. You would think a place would be proud people want to take pictures. Something worrying about it. Try taking pictures, if u dont believe me.

I wish the place up Spadina was still open. I really miss that place. Best banh mi in the city at that location.
04 December 2021 11:49
In the past it was better. The banh mi was good and delicious. Now they still offer cheap price, but the quality went down a bit. The staffs is not very friendly. You can try their lemongrass or the “everything” banh mi. Other than that, they have cha lua, cha que, che, xoi, banh cuon…
25 November 2021 5:59
One of the oldest but famous Vietnamese Sandwich places in the city! Their food quality is consistent and for how long they've been in the business, they have everything down to a system. They start pretty early to start their sandwiches which gets outsourced to other grocery stores like T&T Supermarket that mark up the price. This Chinatown location is their main location while other locations reside in Scarborough, North York and even Vaughan as well!

Don't be afraid by the staff, it's so easy to get the assorted cold cut sandwich at the cashier and skip the line (instead of waiting in the line for customization). The lady at the cashier is not that intimating and understands English. The small assorted cold cut usually gets me through the day especially with $3.50 for a small what a bargain! They also offer the $4.50 for a large or other sandwich combinations if you want to wait in line. They also offer a bunch of ready to eat fresh roll wraps or noodles in the cold section as well.
14 November 2021 22:34
Sandwiches are good! The one i like the most is bbq pork but the rest aren't bad either. Service sucks but since it's not a restaurant it doesn't bother me that much.
For the price and quality i would highly recommend it.
I wish they had more selection
14 July 2021 5:48
This place is a hidden gem. Fair prices and great banh mi sandwiches. Their hot sauce is fantastic.
15 June 2021 10:24
Vermicelli with grilled pork, spring rolls, and Vietnamese sausage - I think these packs are about $6. If I was to get this in a bowl at a restaurant, I think I could expect to be paying about double the price. These come with sprouts and assorted herbs and veggies in a small baggie, and fish sauce in a small takeout container.
02 June 2021 23:33
Comforting and affordable Vietnamese food in Chinatown. Since I was young, my family would visit this popular banh mi shop. It would be the best to bring for lunch at school or a quick snacks.

Beside banh mi, they had a variety of Vietnamese to-go meals that looked delicious! I also tried the banh cuon which is difficult to find.

One of the best OG spot in Chinatown!
06 May 2021 19:06
A Toronto institution when it comes to Banh Mi. My go to is #1 Cold cut combo with extra meat $6. Looking for a yummy sandwich that is consistent and cheap. This is it! Pork and Veg spring rolls $1.50 are also good when they nice and fresh and lots of other packaged goods are worth a try! Like turnip cake and fried rice.

Heads up, it seems intimidating because very fast paced and sometimes hard to understand, But just repeat yourself because it's definitely worth it!

I have no complain about the food as I like food in Banh mi Nguyen Huong. However, make sure you check your items and your changes carefully before leaving, especially when you get many items like me (I bought about 5 items). I was supposed to get ¢75 for my change but the lady cashier just gave me ¢50.yup, ¢25 is nothing but it's about the feeling that your money is not given properly. I can let it be. But when I got home, I found out there was only 1 Vietnamese pork sausage when I paid for a PAIR of it. The pork sausage is near the cashier and I told her to get them to me when I was trying to take my cash out from my pocket. And I found some egg shell when I was eating my fried rice flour cake (bot chien). The crowdedness was ok, not too crowded to make those mistakes.
I didn't pay attention and trusted them. They really ruined my day
29 April 2021 2:14
It's almost impossible to find lunch for under $5 in Toronto these days. This place manages the feat with an assortment of vietnamese sandwiches, pre made lunches (fresh rolls, noodles, steam buns) and rice cakes. If you want real vietnamese street food this is the place to go.
28 April 2021 4:14
Quality of their bun was a bit too doughy not as good. The mixture might not be sufficient however still very good quality of sandwich.
24 April 2021 21:49
Its a gamble: Asked them not to put butter because of allergies, they put butter, gave it to my wife and she now has food poisoning. Also.another time i was there a delivery guy was bringing in bread and they were in baskets without any type of wrap. The basket goes on the floor on the sidewalk and then from the floor onto another basket of bread as they're stacked up with 3 to 4 baskets. So a select few maybe 10% are gona get extra ingredients from the sidewalk.sometimes when you rate a place its.how good or how bad.this place is.will you get sick or not
22 April 2021 23:45
Been coming to this place for years and the food is consistently delicious. Great portions for the price, not only for the banh mi! Staff can be a little bit cold, but I'm as friendly as I can be, smile a lot and say thank you—besides, I'm not there for the service, so. 5-out-of-5 stars from me!
10 April 2021 19:45
Love the subs here! I have tried both the assorted meats and the BBQ pork, both were delicious. Quality of the baguette was super fresh. Service can be a little standoffish but prices and taste are on point.
09 April 2021 18:58
It's my favorite banh mi place because the amount of meat, pate and cilantro in it is just perfect for me. $4 for large and $3 for small now, gone are the days that they were $1.many many years ago lol. I also buy the packaged vermicelli meal and fried rice flour cake there. They also have desserts there.
29 March 2021 12:49
Inexpensive, no-frills banh mis that don’t skimp on flavour! I don’t know if they’re a mom/pop shop, but it definitely has that vibe. Try their BBQ pork.opt for the spice.and thank me later!
23 March 2021 1:23
I literally come here all the time! My fave banh mi spot; never fails me ever $3 for a small, $4 for a large. Just remember to bring cash! Sometimes I buy my own baguettes and just buy the cold cuts and pate too! I also like buying their summer rolls or their nem nuongs
18 March 2021 19:09
Delicious! We had an assorted cold-cuts sandwich and a BBQ pork one. The baguette was super fresh and the meat and seasoning amazingly tasty. Next time I’ll try some other nice-looking items as well as the sandwiches.
13 March 2021 11:31
One of the most affordable deals you can find in downtown.

Sandwiches have good flavour. Generous with meat filling. There are other Vietnamese goodies in store as well.
04 March 2021 18:30
Sandwiches are cheap and fast. Probably not the healthiest food choice and they have a fairly strong smell but sure are tasty!
14 February 2021 21:50
I got the bbq pork banh mi sandwich which was really good and the bread was surprisingly light and crispy. Wish there were more cucumbers though, and mine did not have any jalapeños even though I asked for spicy. I also got their rice cakes with eggs which was a huge portion, and one of their desserts. Sandwich and rice cakes were super good value! I would like to come back and try their packaged rice and vermicelli meals, as well as the spring rolls, which looked really good.
13 February 2021 6:08
If you want fresh, traditional style bahn mi and don’t don’t wanna pay a lot of money or wait even 30 seconds, go here.
18 January 2021 6:32
Every chance I get, I come to Banh Mi Nguyen Huong. I very seldom get to come though, because it's really not in my area. I had a chance about a month ago to stop by, so I went a tad overboard. Here are some of my go-to items:

Banh Mi - I only ever get the original, and I did this time too. I also picked up a pack of their banh mi assorted cold cuts and a pack of their pate (sold by weight). Those went into my freezer to save for a day when I want to DIY banh mi's. That's the best I can do right now if I can't make it down to the store.

Sometimes, the veg isn't super duper fresh, but it's also not like disgustingly brown. Still can't complain because the value is incredible. WARNING: this has peanuts in it, for those with allergies.

I'm also a sucker for their desserts, although I don't get these quite as frequently. All those coconut and pandan desserts are my jam.

Asked for, and purchased a Banh Mi sandwich.

I discover that the main manager lady had actually just given me a plain banh mi loaf, no sandwich, just the bread.

I go back, and say "there's no sandwich you just gave me a banh mi loaf. "

And she demanded that I pay $3 again for something I should've received in the first place. I refused, and she took back the bread and gave me another banh mi sandwich. This time it was an actual banh mi sandwich and not just the bread. Weird.

I was really pleasantly surprised by this place. Months later and I'm still thinking about their summer rolls (pictured). They staff didn't really follow covid guidelines (too many people in the shop, no hand sanitizers, cooks not wearing masks, etc.), but they tried with social distancing and having people line up.

I also got the banh mi and the deep fried shrimp cake. The latter was definitely interesting, not sure if I like it but it's growing on me. There are green beans and it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Quite dense. Good to munch on. Banh mi had good sausage. Was just ok. Overall good experience, definitely going back.
22 November 2020 23:33
I bought fresh spring rolls and chicken BBQ sandwich. They're amazing! I'll definitely go back to taste other sandwiches and food here.
16 October 2020 17:33
Five stars for the Banh Mi (you can customize it) and pork sausage/sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf. However, One star for the customer service. Since the food is something my family craves for every now and then, I come here quite often. Every time I pay a visit, I always encounter the old lady with the creepy, messy black eyeliner on her eyes. She’s always at the cash so, I’m guessing she’s the boss lady and assuming because she owns the place, she wouldn’t even try to greet you or have any kind of customer service. Quite intimidating actually. The only time she was nice to me was when I brought my mom and they spoke the same language. Would recommend the food but don’t expect friendly staff to help you out. Also a con: CASH ONLY.
