Bad customer service asked room for having a shawarma sandwich the guy don’t let me to have it on dining. And I saw other people eating over there. It was cold outside tho. He was speaking something on his language to his fellows and they were saying something on their language and was laughing i swear make fun of customers on their language very disrespectful service
Authentic Lebanese food. When I visited the place was empty and the service was top notch. More of an budget eatery. Do check out their patio/ balcony area. It’s fun to dine-in there.
The food was delicious except the chicken was little hard. Everything else was tasty. The ladies washroom was dirty and not clean. The tables were not cleaned.
I haven't been to this old favorite in years as I don't live in London anymore. I ordered two Tony Specials to go, 3 chicken shawarma and hummus with chips. Wow, just as great as I remember. They even put everything in separate containers as I said I'd be driving for hours. Thanks guys! Still the best Shawarma I have ever had.
Service was friendly and helpful. I ordered the mixed plate with beef and chicken shawarma. It was $21.99 but the plate was fairly big and I have a healthy appetite and didn’t finish it all.
The chicken was better than the beef in my opinion but both were delicious. The sauces and rice were excellent. The pitas were good but if I can suggest to serve them warm would be better.
If you dine in, you eat upstairs. Interesting setup but it works. The dining area needed some attending to, as there was multiple tables with used dishes on them still.
Absolute best shawarma in London without a doubt. Been going to Barakat for as long as I can remember, and have never been anything other than impressed with the delicious seasoning! Highest recommendation to try!
Delicious BUT the serving sizes have SHRUNK! 2 medium Mala Salads for delivery was almost $50 with tip. The salad use to be in a rectangle takeout container. It's now in a small round bowl size. Unfortunate - because it tastes so bloody good!
Years ago, when it was owned by a family with one location along Richmond Row, Barakat was excellent. When a new place opened on Western Road, quality slipped a bit, but it was still very good. But it has now tanked: food we had this week was horrid. The chicken shawarma, years ago a star, has a microscopic amount of chicken and none of the flavour of that meat, drowned in an insipid sauce with none of the traditional toppings like garlic sauce, the quality of the ingredients third-rate, all wrapped in a stale pita. The hummus had no taste at all beyond a faint, bitter note from tahini — there was no discernible taste of chick peas, garlic or lemon. Either they are using chickpea flour or cans that are ancient. The oil on top was not extra virgin olive oil and had no taste. The fries, which were clearly frozen and coated with something to keep them crunchy, were the best thing we tried. The meal, while not big, left one of us hours later with acid reflux, someone who otherwise has rarely experienced that.
I have come here 20+ times over this school year and have always left happy! They have a large variety of options and the service is usually very friendly, they also have a nice selection of Middle Eastern beverages and other sodas which is convenient. The Mala Salad is my favourite, especially with falafel balls.
Bowls are expensive, yes, but the food quality is certainly worth the price. Some of the best quick food I've had in the area. Barakat does not disappoint, but often there is a long line of customers waiting for their food, which is understandable because of the demand. I do think charging $9 for a bottle of prime was a little absurd, but it's just the hype. All in all, this is a great place to pick up a super filling bowl that honestly most people wouldn't be able to finish unless on a totally empty stomach. Great spot.
Fruit juice was an amazing addition to the perfect shawarma meal. Really in London Ontario you cannot find shawarma better spiced or more flavor filled than Barakat western road. It's just hands down the best. Get the mixed juice mango/strawberry.
Ok on to the visit Tables needed cleaned, we did find a clean one, we waited for cutlery as it wasn't refilled. I find most of the kitchen staff are not very proactive about their positions. The food was amazing and we did get 5 star service they brought our order to our table and made us feel welcomed.
The restaurant was busy.
We were treated better than family.
Overall the visit was 9 out of 10 due to (cutlery/tables)
Barakat is still the best after 20 years, the original, no one can compete with this level.
The honest truth about most shawarma restaurants in London, food quality is not consistent, the salt and preservatives are way over what you expect from fresh made food, and you feel horrible after eating even if the taste is nice initially.
Barakat food tastes good, you feel good after eating it, no over salted processed flavor- it's real food.
This Barakat special platter ($69.99+tax total) is enough to feed 3 to 4 people; it was just me and a friend eating so we had a decent amount of leftovers.
Worst experience ever. Whenever I place an order via Skip The Dishes they are out something. Either cheese or sujuk or whatever. Then they call you saying oh we do not have this item. Then why do not just simply update Skip The Dishes? The other thing is that last time I ordered mnakeesh it took them an hour to get it ready. I got it cold and not eatable. I just threw it out. Will never order from them.
Genuinely has to be the worst middle eastern restaurant I’ve ever been to. Their kabobs are dry and distasteful, along with their fries being dry and cold right after they were served. This place is a joke and disgrace to middle eastern Cuisine.
