Excellent Swiss Geschnetzeltes, very tasty appetizers (I ordered seafood)! Wine quality above expectations, and an awesome cappuccino on top of it. I loved the service as well!

We loved everything about this place, including food and service, but be forewarned… there is an automatic 20% tip for parties of six or more. This should be posted on their website!

As long as the owners are at the restaurant, food is consistently good. Everything is prepared from scratch with fresh ingredients. As a regular, I like the variety of the weekly menu specials offered. Food restrictions or preferences are accommodated by the kitchen. This is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto and I feel fortunate to have crossed paths with Barnsteiner's.

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. I've gone twice with my husband and loved it both times - everyone is prepared with care, with high quality ingredients. We've particularly enjoyed the mushroom risotto and the apple strudel. The service is friendly, and the restaurant's space is warmly decorated. Looking forward to going back!

I love this take on the neighbourhood bistro. I drive from Etobicoke every month to eat here. Food is excellent. Owners are charming, and active with regular guests. Try the schnitzel and potato salad. 5*! Pizza is also very good.

Michelle (Owner) was absolutely amazing! I brought a group from U. S.to the restaurant for a celebration and we were blown away with the service, accommodations and FOOD! The service was FANTASTIC.hats off to husband Herbert who was our Chef. I highly recommend the experience at Barnsteiners. I will never forget how special this experience enhanced my Canadian excursion. We were NOT disappointed and you won't be either.

I enjoyed my experience at Barnsteiner's! The food was very tasty and the service was good. However, I think they should treat their service less like a pub, and more upscale (they can get away with it if they trained their staff accordingly). At the end of the day, however, great value and I will return!

I live above Barnsteiners. I feel like my husband and I have been extremely kind and supportive to the restaurant throughout the pandemic and beyond. The kindness was not returned. Small example- we went to have oysters tonight. The owner was about to turn us away. Because they were ‘too busy’ for take out. It was 5: 30
And the restaurant was empty. They staff was very kind and prepped our oysters for take out. We go to the restaurant because it’s convenient. The staff are great. Food okay.

Absolutely fantastic experience. We started our evening off at another restaurant and after having appetizers and a first round of drinks we decided it wasn’t for us. Coming to this place we felt right at home from walking in. The ambience is absolutely delightful, The drinks provided and mixed by Catherine were sumptuous and the food was absolutely to die for. We had the short rib platter which was described as being vacuum sealed and prepared to order. Donovan our server was a gem he was truly down to earth and very approachable and truly took the time to explain to us the culinary experience we were about to have and his guidance was appreciated. An absolute delight I would recommend anyone looking for a great comfort food with a great ambience

What an amazing restaurant and a wonderful and creative menu. The schnitzel was heavenly. A bit too crowded though, but I guess that adds to the atmosphere. A must try.

The Wiener Schnitzel was soo delicious! I highly recommend it. My only complaint was the service. There moments were our table was without any water. The restaurant was very packed and that oversight is understandable. Also, my friend and informed the server about her peanut allergy and was assured that there wasn’t any peanuts in the dish. However, she started to develop a reaction, so there must have been some cross-contamination.

We had eggs benedict and pancakes (brunch menu) and the chef's special schnitzel (not sure of this is the correct spelling). It was great. The staff were also pretty attentive, which was much appreciated. Well done.

Enjoyed my birthday party with friends last night at your restaurant. The food was amazing. The brussel sprouts were excellent, the market soup the best ever and the short ribs were amazing. I accidently left my cell phone there which was successfully retrieved today.
The service was great. Just the right amount of timing between drinks and main. Very professional and had just the right amount of humor.
I love my food served hot and there was no disappointment in this area.
The outdoor ambiance, even though the weather was not cooperative, is delightful.
We will be back and I will be telling my foodie friends about the delicious food, terrific food and the overall great experience we had.

Good food, a bit greasy but very tasty. However the dark haired woman who answers the phone and also acts as hostess and manager is very argumentative, difficult to communicate with, and hostile. Very off putting to deal with.

Great food with a nice little patio that's now open for reservations. The patio area isn't huge, so table space is fairly limited, but they did expand and add a few tables to the side of the building outside. Food and service were excellent, and prices aren't bad. Fairly large menu with a good amount of choices to select from. Reservations were limited, but that's to be expected since things have just reopened so everyone is trying to get a table right now.

I really liked the service and the ambience. It made me feel like I'm in Europe for a second. Impressive wine selection and fresh oysters. My tuna tartare had a bit too much soya sauce but it didn't ruin the experience.

The food and service were very good. The patio was warm enough with the heaters. Unfortunately there was just one washroom available and it was impossible to get the water flowing to wash my hands. I looked around for someone to help but there was no staff available. Hand hygiene is very important these days

I come to this excellent restaurant many times since I like the special atmosphere that is exist in this place. The crew is awfuly friendly and skilfull. The service is remarkablywonderfully fast. Excellent. Great happy hour 3pm to 5 pm. One dollar oysters. Good prices on wine and beer. Amazing French fries. And fabulous cedar salad and best calamari. Our local go to resto. Try it. U will be delighted

Service was lovely and very attentive to the allergies/dietary restrictions of our table. Ensured gluten free pizza was cooked in the oven not the pizza oven to reduce risk of cross contamination. Would happily return!:)

We enjoyed our time there very much. Wait staff were great and attentive. I enjoyed our meal too. We had Chicken liver pate to start and then the Wiener schnitzel and spaetzle mac & cheese. We wanted a German meal and we got one! Thanks!

Food and service here are excellent! A bit on the pricey side but that's to be expected to get the quality of food and service you are getting here. I defiantly will be back!

I visit this special restaurant from time to time because I like the ambiance that is outline this restaurant. The team is awfuly loving and qualified. The service is extremely efficient. We had an absolutely amazing experience at Barnsteiner’s. The food was fantastic - we overindulged and enjoyed a little bit of everything. Personal favourites were the Beet Salad, the Brussels Sprouts and the Chicken Liver Pâté. The service was some of the best we’ve had in a long time - our server Omar was warm, attentive and generous and made our experience a five-star one.
Barnsteiner’s has our highest recommendation and we cannot wait to come back.

Great landmark German restaurant, of course focusing on signature German dishes interspersed with many continental European dishes. Chef Herbert Barnsteiner is "en pointe" with his wonderfully tasty dishes. Everything is superbly prepared, presented and served. You can't go wrong expecting an extraordinary supper here. The gents and ladies serving are attentive, courteous and subtle. You'll find yourself coming back very soon.

Food was really good, menu choices fantastic.
The ambient was elegant yet simple and very welcoming.
One of the owners had the great gesture to come say hi to us and after gathering what we were having for dessert, recommended us a third option which she even gave us on the house.
Very much so appreciated, will be visiting again.

This is a great restaurant. The food was delicious and full of flavor. The atmosphere and decor are perfect. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. I love that it's family owned and a special thank you to Herbert and Michelle who made are first visit there a memorable one. Definitely won't be our last time there. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Went for Winterlicious dinner on Saturday. The food was very good; well seasoned and flavorful. The waiter was friendly and polite. I would visit again for sure.

We went for the 2020 winterliciois and we loved it! I will definitely come back for the regular menu. The desserts were our least favorites (maybe a bit small), but after having appetizers and main dishes, I wouldn't have space for a big dessert anyway.

This place is my favored. I go to plenty of restaurants but here I constantly return again and again. The team is very helpful and the cooking they offer is so good. I would always prefer to have a nice dinner in this place. I recommend this place with pleasure.

The food was really good, my friend and I ordered a stake with arugula salad that came with caramelized pecans, blue cheese, balsamic oil and sauteed asparagus. We also ordered two glasses of "house" wine (without asking for it's price). When we saw the bill we realized that we were charged $18 for each of the house wines. In my opinion the food was price accordingly to with what we had ($27) each plate, but the House wine was totally out of proportion for 7 onces of (house) wine?
I really don't understand this business reasoning, it seems to me that they don't want you to come back any more $$$$$ Ridiculous, farther more I know bottles of excellent wine below $18. To make matters worse I've got food poisoned?

Great menu and decor, and a menu full of crowd pleasers with a Continental flare. Perfect for a date, client meeting or family celebration.

My scallops were perfectly seared, and my husband had a wonderful Coq Au Vin - a real treat seeing that on a menu! Save room for dessert.

On the wine list, a nice selection of traditional favorites by the glass!

Visited this place for the summerlicious and it was very satisfying. I had the mushroom soup, Whole roasted loin and chocolate moose. It was a great experience.

I had an excellent in this place. We liked the excellent ambience and the food. The staff were very amiable. I’m glad we ultimately decided to visit this spot.

I used to come here a lot when I worked around here, it has never disappointed me, or any of my coworkers, whether it was lunch or dinner. We have even tried every item on their summerlicious menu last year, and we loved every single item on the menu, we've never had a better 'licious event experience.

The server was good, food was good especially roasted cauliflowers, they offered cave springs riesling - always great but overpriced - now special note about the floor manager - she was hovering around our table like a hawk trying to speed us up so she can clear it - for the record we had a reservation for four and our light dinner cost almost $200 - bad!

My kids insisted I leave a review. It’s convenient for us as we live seconds away and they are currently having a “happy hour” option. However the two times we went - the customer service was dry. The second time after the waitress offered me a sample of beer to help me identify the one I would like to order, one of the managers (I presume she was) walked over and hovered over us and implied that I had asked for a sample glass of beer to give to the kids. It was the most bazar situation I have ever been in - what a horrible assumption not to mention offensive. Although I liked the food my kids asked we never return.
