Gorgeous course BUT. It was my first time here and probably my last. I don't know if today was an anomaly but they were crazy overbooked. We waited half an hour past our tee time to start. Waiting for 2 groups at each hole even though they paired people up. We couldn't finish as we didn't plan for 6+ hours for a game. We saw a couple other groups leave without finishing too. $160 wasted as not only could we not finish, we couldn't really enjoy the time while we were there either. What a shame
The course was in good shape. A forgiving bunch of fairways. Enjoyed the day! Was a bit pricey, but what isn't these days! All in all, good experience!
I am usually the "booking agent" for my group of 4. Most courses have a way to accommodate that.that is, that even though my card is used to guarantee the reservation, the boys can pay themselves when they arrive at the club. Bear creek will not accommodate this.they make me either pre-pay with everyone elses cards, (entering 4 credit cards is a non-starter), or pre-pay with my own card. No accommodation for letting the guys pay when they get there. Sorry.was looking forward to playing here.
Edit.wrote to the club, Drew answered and said it was too much trouble for them to try to handle my request and he said that most other clubs do things the same way. He also said that it might be something they do in the future but for now, no go. I have since done some research and there are quite a few clubs in the area where i can do things the way i am looking for.do your homework to find the course that suits you. I have been playing Bradford (Bradford closed this year) for years once a week as a foursome and just want a hassle-free place to do our weekly game. I have found several possibilities.would have liked Bear Creek as it sounds like a nice course but so be it.
Beautiful course, however they over booked the course. Took almost 6 hours to play 18 holes with a cart. We booked a 2 sum, but was paired up with another 2 even though we didn't want that.
We have to be part of many Weddings and holiday parties at Bear Creek Golf Club. Highly recommend chatting with Drew and Nicole if you are looking for a place to hold any celebration.
Great place to golf. I will be getting another seasons pass next year. It's nice to have 3 courses of 9 so you can change it up. The course has some challenging holes (I'm still learning so for those of you experienced golfer you won't be so challenged). I highly recommend this place for those who have a few games under the belt and want just enough challenge to push you to be better.
Course was in great shape, greens were excellent. A little short from the tips, plays under 6000 but the layout is solid. If you are in Barrie definitely check this course out.
Great course for any caliber. You can make a mistake and recover most times as it is quite forgiving. Green fees seem a bit expensive but EVERY industry has their COVID TAX. I won't let that stop me from returning!
We played our family annual golf tournament last weekend at this course. The course had the slowest bumbiest greens I had ever encountered. They had not been cut or rolled. You could also not distinguish the fairways from the rough. I feel sorry for the residents in Barrie that are subjected to playing cow patches such as this and having to pay 80.00 to do so.
Absolutely love this course, it's difficult enough to give most golfers a fun challenge but not brutal enough to make you want to kill yourself, and for the price, you really can't complain, Bear Creek may become my new home course.
Excellent golf course with holes that utilize different skills without being overly challenging. Well kept and maintained throughout all of the course as well. Staff were extremely welcoming and professional. Looking forward to more rounds of golf here!
Nice little track. Always a great tournament host. Gender friendly, fairly flat course that is walkable, if that's your preference. Worth the drive to the outskirts of Barrie and Angus.
It’s unacceptable to force twosomes of strangers to play together right now. All of these covid protocols and you jam the course and force people to play with individuals they do not know. No more overbooking! Let people play with who they came with or alone, if that’s their choice. Everyone booked a time, so please be smart about what you’re doing. Courses have been allowed to stay open, so please don’t ruin it for everyone so you can get in a few more people.
How can this course charge 70.00 with a cart the first week of the season 2021. Its a 5400 yard course with no range and a small clubhouse lol. Pace is always horrible. Small boring holes. Give your head a shake Bear Creek. Don't waste your time or money people. Go play somewhere else where they don't just jam up the course as soon as possible and charge ridiculous green fees.
My second round there was as good as I hoped. Great shape, every hole has it's own value. Greens were fair, and in good shape. Best value for your money.
The course is immaculate and very challenging absolutely loved the course and the friendly staff but the fact the course was packed with people was not not favourite finishing a hole to have people hitting and 4 carts waiting to shoot on the next hole was a brutal golfing experience we started at 2: 56 and by 5: 25 we were on the 7th hole. The organization definitely needs work and for that reason I will probably not come back.
Great golf course but when I golfed on Father's Day with my wife the starter Marshall made us drive the golf cart with a plastic shield between us. We were not happy about this and the Marshall said we must have it. This is BS and very rude and this needs to change. Everywhere else we do not need a plastic shield. I guess you picked the wrong plastic devider but you could have some carts with out them? We see it as being lazy
Today was suppose to be a great outdoor experience with the ladies as we drove from Fort Erie to enjoy this club as we heard great things about it as well as the amenities. We arrived on time but were placed in a large line up as the club clearly over sold the courses for the day. The covid plastic dividers were in place however, others had theirs removed and were completely fine with it. Others, being senior male figures. We began the course and immediately had people waiting on us. Just 3 ladies, 1 being a learner to the sport. The pressure built as we were working our way threw 3 holes, and people piled up. Keep in mind, this entire event was under a hour at the club. We spoke to the people behind us and made a deal on passing at the next par. Then the Marshall arrived, explaining we had to play threw and needed to hurry up. We explained we made a deal and he said it was too busy of a day to do that. The beer cart lady arrived and said that the club was a relaxed place and good environment for new learners. Well that proved wrong. He then barked at us again. Being 3 women, trying to enjoy a nice day of golf being followed and shunned after paying like everyone else; it was clear we were not welcome. The atmosphere was hostile and not enjoyable at all. How do you expect to have new faces when you dont allow them to experience and practice the game? We were not disruptive or shouting like the hooligans group of men behind us, but yet we were being bullied. We left on the 4th hole. The man in the office was very kind, and stated they over booked. He gave us a refund but the day was shot and its want even 1130. Thankyou for showing your hospitality in true form.
Course condition was perfect. But Mr Drew please have a conversation with your staff about tee time rates and have them in the know. I and someone else called for a tee time rate.we both where bounced around and finally spoke to someone.we were told the same rate. But When we arrived it was changed. I have a suggestion.have a email confirmation for tee time booking.so there is no confusion.
Had an awesome day of golf. Greens were in top shape, beautifully groomed and the back 9 is my favourite! Food we very good too! And lots of cold beer.
Excellent place to play. Course will not beat you up yet it is fair. Always in excellent condition, probably one of the best consistently maintained courses you will play on. You need to experience it to believe it. Kudos.
We were a ladies 4some playing here yesterday and was directed to play the Central/South courses. We checked the score card which shows the distance of Red tee being less than 4200 yards and the white tee distance is 5100. Our handicap is in the low 20’s so we know we can handle the white tee.
While 2 ladies have teed off, starter Bob rushed toward us and stopped us from teeing off. He wanted to move us to the Red tee. We told him our reasoning to tee off the white but his response was accusing: “ but you’ve been standing here for 5 minutes”. Obviously we had to wait for the group in-front of us to clear our hit zone before we tee off. Then he waved his hand in the air as if to shut me up and said, “well you have to catch up to the group in front of you and when I catch you falling behind, I’ll move you to the red tee. “ Then he left. This was a threat and very distracting as we thought the whole time we were being watched but In fact we’ve taken photos that we had to wait at least 2-4 minutes almost every hole for the group in front to clear.
We reported this incident to the pro shop as soon as we finished 18 holes and our time was just shy of 4 hours having waited almost every hole. Larry the manager confirmed that it’s not a course policy that ladies must play red tees.
We weren’t asked about our handicap and in his mind, this rude starter thinks women can only play 4000 yards. In this day and age when women golfers have done so well and is a big part of golf consumers, we can’t believe we ran into a starter like so.
We were told by Larry that the owner Drew will call me regarding this whole shameful incident but I have yet to hear from him.
Goodbye Bear creek you are in very bad books with a reputable Ladies golfers league in Toronto.
Great friendly staff! The Marshall today (June 19) couldn't have been a more friendly fellow. Kind courteous and very understanding. He was very accommodating and I appreciated his couth. Kudos to you for making me want to return to your golf course in the near future.
Purchased a membership here this year! Early start to the golf season. The staff here are amazing and the grounds crew really make it a great place to golf!
Had a membership for the summer of 2017 and quite enjoyed playing here as it’s not too difficult a course if you are new to golfing. The course has 3 - nine hole courses to play which keeps it interesting. It is a very well maintained course and the staff are all terrific. Memberships are very reasonable but drop in rate is expensive. What I didn’t like about this course and why I didn’t buy a membership a 2nd year, is that they have so many leagues playing here we always had to play the same course because the other 2 were so busy. Even though we played the less desirable course it seemed the majority of the time we had to wait on every hole even though we had a booked tee time. Maybe there’s not enough time in between bookings?
