Beattie Pet Hospital - East Hamilton

I came to here because I wanted to take my new kitten to get a check up. The clinic I normally go with was all booked up and suggested I try here. That appointment went so well and I had such a positive experience. Then my poor kitty Twix go really sick and needed to be check out. We honestly thought the worst, so I called Beattie and they fit me in the same day. Dr. Williams was fantastic and very informative. He took very good care of Twix and I can already see an improvement in her. I definitely recommend anyone looking to take their beloved pet here. All the staff are fantastic and welcoming.

They've taken great care of my cat Toby and offer free WiFi and coffee like what? Hello my new favourite spot.
Staff was super friendly and lovely. All the staff was very knowledgeable and helped make Toby comfortable for all his procedures. He is an older boy with FIV and they have taken such great care of him. I have only had the most positive encounters even when news gets a little scary with his illnesses I know he is in good hands.

We had to say goodbye to our very senior dog this weekend and we're so glad we chose to bring her here. We were given privacy, all the time we needed to say goodbye and Dr. Ros explained the process in detail so we had no surprises. We have another younger dog and wouldn't think of taking her anywhere else. The entire staff is so kind and we can't recommend them enough.

Sweet and friendly service. Always on top of vet appointment reminders. My cat feels very safe here. 5 stars!

*EDIT: to the owner. Xena is my daughter in laws dog. She is in your files* We took our dog here in December as she had something that looked like a tumour behind her ear. We were told it would be a few days to get results after a biopsy, we had to call quite a few times and eventually, after 3 weeks, and many calls we finally got a call back to say it was benign and might grow a little bit but not life threatening. Come end of January the tumour grew and we decided to have it removed. We take her in for surgery in March and the tumour has grown from about a golf ball size to a baseball size. Vet said she can’t operate now because it’s too big and now interfering with her skull/ear. She also formed another tumour in a lymph node, and it was not benign it was malignant. Didn’t know until today when we were FINALLY referred to a specialist. The specialist said the original biopsy was misinterpreted by Beatties. If we had known there was even a chance it was cancerous we would have had her in sooner while it was operative. I understand that mistakes do happen but the worst part was for weeks we couldn’t get anyone to call us back. We’d be promised a call back and it wouldn’t come. The worst. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. Our 2.5 year old dog is now terminal as the cancer is inoperable and has 2-4 months left.

Whether it’s a routine checkup or a surgery, I know my dogs are in good hands. The staff are genuinely excited to see the dogs.

Very rude people, very long wait times to get an appointment and also sitting in a room waiting for a vet.

Front desk, vet techs, and Drs Puja and MacDonald have all been wonderful every time we've taken our senior pup, Tommy.

If you want to waste your money this is the place to go. The staff is pleasant enough but if you are there to get help for your animal.forget it

Love this vet. It's the best one. We love Dr. McDonald she is amazing with both our dogs. We have an almost 8 yr old Shiba Inu named Midnight that has been seeing Dr. McDonald since she was 8 weeks old. Midnight is very particular about Dr. McDonald because Midnight can only see Dr. McDonald. She gets extremely nervous and afraid when we had to see another vet there once this happened never again. I had to take sedation medication home that one time to calm Midnight down. I said after that experience we stay with Dr. McDonald and no one else. Midnight loves Dr. McDonald. Midnight does her Shiba screams and it's extremely high pitched. I had her spayed with Dr. McDonald and I thought Midnight was having complications at home because she stopped eating and going to the bathroom for over 4 days so I took her to see Dr. McDonald and she peed in the examination room like Niagara Falls so I took it as a way Midnight was telling me that she wanted to see Dr. McDonald because after that visit Midnight ate and went to the bathroom just fine. Midnight is extremely attached to Dr. McDonald. If Midnight would have her way she would go home with Dr. McDonald in a heart beat Midnight just loves Dr. McDonald that much.

Loved the attention they paid on our dog. Always friendly and open to listening to us. Been with beattie when they one had the one clinic. I like this location because appointment are on time and the staff is the best

We recently brought our Aussie in. He usually has a hard time at the vet, as he can be quite fearful of strangers. Both the tech and the vet moved slowly with him, got down to his level and really took their time to make him comfortable. The vet let him sniff instruments before using them, and gave him treats. You can tell they really care and don't rush when they know it could do more harm than good. We were super grateful for the care they took with him. Making an appointment is pretty quick and the reception staff are all super friendly. It is also very clean! Definitely recommend.

If you care about your pet, and your wallet, go elsewhere. It’s been one terrible experience after another there, and I’ll never go back again.
They are salesmen, not people who care for animals. Though all of the vet techs are wonderful. The vets come and go and I’ve not had one good one.very far from it.
Don’t buy advantix there either as twice I treated my two dogs and both were found with ticks within one week of treatment. I’m guessing they sell expired products.
Please don’t risk the poor care both your animal and you will receive here.

Staff was so accommodating when I had an emergency with my cat and they were so friendly the entire time. Very impressed with the service I received.

We have been to this location twice. It is so convenient from downtown and the staff truly seem to care about your pet. Dr Puja even called to followup on our dogs cough! Her and her team have been lovely to work with and we will continue to use their services in the future.

The girls here are so sweet and extra special shout out to the chihuahua whispered Miranda! One of my chi babies had a bad past before we adopted her and doesn't trust most people and she is absolutely amazing with her! I'm so grateful because the vet is always a stressful place for us and Miranda and the staff always take some of that away! Prices are decent as well and the quality of care is exceptional.

The staff are top notch from reception to vet technicians to the doctors. Every person in there knew our dog after only 2visits. They went out of the way to make him comfortable. Which was not easy with his pain. Thanks for caring about our dog and family

The staff is amazing! From the receptionists to the techs and vets. I can't recommend this place enough. I also want to say that the manager Kelly is so sweet and made the experience wonderful. I'm so happy my dog goes there. Pic of my sweet girl:)

Words cannot express how grateful we are to have such an awesome team looking after our babies! Have you ever met a dog that WANTS to go to the vet? Because both of ours try to pull us there every chance they get! Miranda, Christian, Felicia and all of the girls are so fun and caring and our pups adore them!

I respect that this vet takes care of emergencies. The receptionists are friendly. The main issue I have with this clinic is that all the treatment options are not adequately explained and customers can't make an informed decision. My dog had an ear infection. We paid for the examination and we paid for the suggested meds. This same infection lingered, so we went back and this time they suggested a more expensive but more effective med (claro). Again, the infection lingered and this time we were told that claro and antibiotics would do the trick. It would have been nice to know all our options on the first visit. I had to spend the examination fee 3 times and medication fee 3 times.each time more expensive than the last. Also, I was told that the antibiotics would cost 20$, but it ended up being 90$ because the vet did not consider the weight of my dog in the calculation. Everyone makes mistakes, but mistakes are costly. I am really hoping that the infection will go away. Time will tell.

Do not believe the fake paid for reviews on this page. I have two cats & a dog and wouldn’t ever recommend you taking your animal to any Beatties clinic. This vet clinic’s only priority is to make money, using scare tactics and falsifying blood work to increase revenue. Our new vet showed us the blood work done by Beatties and there was nothing wrong with the potassium levels yet beatties said it was dangerously high and our pet’s life was at risk. That’s not all - they made mistakes during surgery, when we brought it to their attention they said there was nothing to worry about. I sent in pictures and got no response from the clinic. Once the situation worsened, they had us pay more to correct their own careless mistakes. We were also charged for a urine test to see if there was infection from the aftermath of the botched surgery. The only positive thing about this place is the receptionists & vet techs are incredibly friendly.

I know that there have occassionally been issues but overall I am extremely happy, most staff know us and our dogs, realize our financial limitations and are responsive to critique. I recently set up my handicapped sister at Beatties for her service dog. She was very impressed after her first appointment visit, both by the attention given and the pricing.

I used to take my pooches to another vet that was absolutely awful. I made the switch to Beattie's on Concession and am so happy I did. The ladies behind the reception desk are so friendly and helpful as well as the vet techs. Dr. Puja is a breath of fresh air. She is caring, compassionate and exactly what a veterinarian should be. She is very informative and gives pet owners many recommendations and options without pressure, so you don't feel like it is an all or nothing situation. Thank you to all in your clinic for being genuine caring and compassionate people. Your hard work and love for animals doesn't go unnoticed. Lulu and I thank you.

Beattie East Hamilton has been a great clinic for me. Recently we had to unexpectedly put down our cat. We were sent to Beattie Ancaster because of scheduling issues and their vet had a very poor bedside manner. Thankfully, we returned to the East Hamilton location for the actual euthanasia and they were very empathetic and compassionate. They took the time to explain to us what was happening so we knew we were making the right decision.

Unsatisfactory experience. If I could give zero stars I would.

Visited the Concession location for my dog’s “consultation” (will be my last visit).

They took my dog to the back room to do tests and administer vaccines.

While my dog was in the back room, the only time the doctor made an appearance was to convince me to give my dog a vaccine. Which I was compelled to do so. So I agreed to amongst the other things they wanted to do.

He then said that the remaining tests would take about 25 min so he asked me to wait outside of the room.

They then handed me my dog and rushed me straight to the cashier with no consultation and no feedback.

They sent me off with a hefty bill and promised to call me back asap with the results and feedback from the consultation.

I had to call back myself about two days later for the follow up. They said they’ll get the doctor to give me a call asap. Instead they just emailed me the bloodwork. Still have yet to receive a call.

They are unprofessional. They are salesmen first, doctors last.

You’re better off taking your loved ones elsewhere. Save yourself a headache (& money).

Our Goldendoodle has had stomach issues for years, leading to a very rough few months of no eating and extreme weight loss. We brought him to Beattie's for the first time and we finally feel like we're on the road to recovery. The doctor took a great approach to diagnosing his issue, and kept us in the loop every step of the way. The front office staff are also incredible, ensuring emergencies are handled with urgency. We've been through A LOT of vets, but this staff truly care about animals.

I’ve had an awful experience with my Yorkie poo. Unfortunately she is passed away now and the help I received from Beaties wasn’t good. Of course I can’t tell what would happen at another vet but they didn’t have good options on how my pooch was dealt with. They’re all in it for money and they don’t wether your pet gets better or not. I cannot express enough the fake face they put on to make you feel like your animal is happy and healthy. I’m a pet store employee and NEVER recommended beaties hopsital.

In response to you message, it was under my moms name and the dogs was named London. She passed about a year ago now. She was diabetic and had pancreatitis and we had we didn’t get the help we were looking for. I apologize for offending anyone that works at Beaties because it’s not all employees but you can’t tell what ones.

The gentle care and compassion Beatties Concession had for my dog this morning was nothing like I've ever experienced at a vet.

Right from the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the lovely woman behind the desk (I didn't catch her name) who quickly checked me in.

My dog has had spine issues for several years now and a couple times a year he overdoes it and has flare ups. I was fortunate to have Dr. Puja Nanayakkara treat my ShiPoo Joey today. This woman was born to treat animals. She had a very calm nature and took her time to really put Joey's needs ahead of rushing us in and out like my previous vet used to do. She offered immediate pain relief by way of an injection and sent us home with meds and a great treatment plan to manage his pain. He is now home and sleeping, but you can tell the pain has been severely reduced already.

I was on the fence about sticking with Beatties (My 3 dogs have been long time patients of the Upper Centennial location) but all I needed to do was change locations to find the right fit for us.

I can't praise the level of care my dog received this morning enough. If you're looking for a place that offers compassion and quality care, this location is the place I can trust will give all of my dogs their very best.

UPDATE: I was refunded Immediately and the receptionist was very apologetic. I was later left a voice mail apologizing for the whole incident as well as a response to my review below. I really do appreciate the follow up and happy the situation has been rectified.

Don’t usually have issues here but this past experience is ridiculous
My dog has been on revolution since Nov after the advantage prescribed wasn’t doing the trick.
I paid for a heart Worm test in Nov as it’s required. April I ordered revolution for flea and tick season and am told I need to pay for another heart-worm test, to which I explained i had paid for one in Nov and it’s good for a year, response “yes it must be done anually” again it’s good till Nov “Oh yes that’s right” ‍️
Then I’m told it doesn’t protect against heart worm.
I ask why I was charged for the test and they couldn’t tell me and would have someone call me.
Reception (I believe) called me for payment, I asked them and was told it it didn’t cover heart worm. I asked again why I paid for the mandatory test and the person I spoke with was corrected by another staff, apologized and said it does protect against heartworm…. Hmmmmm….
So I paid upfront as requested for 6 months
My husband picked up a few days later and he too paid $210.39….
Not a bad vet and the staff are lovely but this was very disorganized and made me feel uncomfortable with the lack of knowledge regarding the medication.

Will be calling for about the double payment today

Took my cat here to get an ingrown claw removed, she had to be put under since shes a little feisty. They asked me to leave the room and once done (after paying 120$) i noticed the claw was still in her paw. They told me they didn’t see it and to just bring her back to restart the procedure. A complete lack of attention and just in it for money. Most definitely will not be bringing my cat back here.
There is also a CONSTANT barking that no one seems to care about.

After calling so many vets to have our 18 year old cat put down Beattie was the best price and the staff were wonderful.if it wasn't for places like this I don't know what we would of done or other people for that matter.thank you so much Beattie Pet Hospital

We lost our family dog Baxter on July 5th and the staff at the Beattie pet hospital on Concession were very compassionate and caring. We recently welcomed our puppy Keela, into our family. During her first visit to Beattie, the staff welcomed her with open arms! We highly recommend the Beattie pet hospital on Concession!

No Compassion at all. All they Want is the Big Bucks. They literally Said 3000.00 Dollars or your Dog Can Die. If I knew that. I wouldn't have when there. Never Take your pet there. Terrible place.stay away. Please if you Love your pet Stay Away. Please check out EVAH.look them up.

First of all the ladies in reception are very good as are the ladies who ask you questions in the room about your pet. The first issue is that the lady who asks you all the questions then says the vet will be in to see you (which he does not). The next issue Is when they come and take Eddy for his rabies shot, how do we know who is giving the shot? If it is a trainee I understand but would like to know. Then they bring back Eddy and say again the vet will be in to speak to you and after about 15 minutes he comes in and talks to you for 2 minutes that's right 2 minutes? Then we go to pay and it is $22 for the shot which I understand but it is $65 for consultation for 2 minutes. That is totally disgusting and we are not impressed. This is dam near gouging. And please don't try to blame it on covid because covid has nothing to do with gouging. We have spent thousands of hard earned money at Beatties from Brantford to Ancaster to hwy 20 and now Concession but we may be seeking other veterinary clinics as we just adopted another cat. To us that is very sad but like everyone, times are tough and you have to move on to where you feel you are getting the best bang for your money and latley we are finding it is not from Beatties.
So sorry for the rant but I needed to let you know.
