The security guard is a creep. I came in bought a single light 3.3%beer and then waited for my bf in the park drinking it and he told me he watched me the whole time.and when I came back in with my bf he told me I wasn’t allowed to do that and when I said it was up to the cops not him he took an aggressive stance to me. First of all security guards aren’t police. Second of all, that place has vulnerable people regularly pan handling and passing out in front including that day and that guy was just strolling around with his vest on watching me.
WOMEN DONT GO HERE ALONE. He stared me down the moment I walked in and follows me through the store. Tall ish Arab guy. Aggressive.
April 8 - No Guinness because “we must have sold out for St.paddy’s and haven’t order more yet”… a month ago and they haven’t replaced their stock. A government sanctioned private monopoly where service is non-existent and rude if you’re lucky enough to get any. The place is a Tip, it is unquestionably the business that has the biggest adverse impact on our neighborhood: offers nothing, costs everything- socially and financially. Get lost!
Always stocked. Staff are polite and work hard and do their jobs to the best of their ability. Beverages are displayed nicely and are nice and cold when you purchase them. Good location. All the best. May God Bless the Staff. Cheers.
Been living in Ottawa for a month now and went into the beer store on Somerset for a gluten free option for beer. My girlfriend and I were in the store for maybe a minute when the clerk came rushing out onto the floor. I asked for a gluten free option like cider or something. He says "we don't sell that here it's just beer. Then rushedly escorts my girlfriend and I out of the store. I have managed liquor stores in Alberta and this cashiers customer service was atrocious. He tried to save himself by pointing out the
Usually stocks a great selection. Staff obviously have it a little hard at this location due to some of the customers they get but they always seem to try and make your visit better.
It's a beer store. You can return empty wine bottles and beer cans for 10 cents. They have a huge selection and it's kept extremely cold which is nice on hot summer days. The staff are nice and all of them have worked there for a long time. The area has a lot of low income people and it's one of the only downtown beer stores, so you might run into some scruffy looking people.
Great folks girls and guys who work there Big love and niceset staff i ever meet Like my home friendly and very nice Hard workings folks and excellent Admirer from tunisia
Because it is ran by unionized workers who are in no hurry to serve you or make business any better due to the fact that they are unionized. This place is simply design for the daily lushes which make up 50% of the community of Ottawa.
I don't know how those guys at that beer store can stay so friendly and cool in the context of that neighborhood. The stuff they have to deal with? I can't even imagine. Hats off to them all.
I get it this place is full of recycled materials and it's good for the Earth yada yada but my opinion dishes house the seals area completely separate from the recycling area stench of fermented green wheat barley whatever is overpowering their multibillion-dollar industry and their stores are the dirtiest smelliest and most unwelcoming of all on a positive note the staff at this location is super nice.
Dreamland for beerlovers - good selection of beers in icecold shopfloor. Affordable prices and opening times 7 days a week till 9pm in the evening (Sundays 6 PM)
Great selection! But if you look homeless/young, do expect security to mysteriously appear in every aisle you browse. It made my visit quite uncomfortable, apologies for looking like a "thief", whatever that may look like.
