Robert Bernstein is literally the lawyer you need. He’s straight forward, makes things clear by actually explaining what is going to happen and how. The whole experience and process with Robert was the easiest especially because it was all remote. We won because I took his advice, so I don’t know what the outcome would have been if I didn’t. If you want a lawyer that knows what they’re doing I highly suggest Robert, Bob Bernstein and definitely the firm as well since they have someone like him on their team so I'm guessing they're all like minded. Overall my experience with Bernstein Law Group was a positive one. Upon initally meeting I was a little apprehensive as I had been told by other lawyers I had no case. Mr. Bernstein was clear that at first he wasn't sure but would look into it and help me anyways.

I hired Bernstein Law Group to assist me after my car was rear ended in 2018. When I called, their staff member, Ela, set up a first informational meeting which was provided at no charge! Ela is very efficient, courteous, knowledgeable and informative. She explained to me how the insurance process works after a car accident and that, based on my injuries, I had a case for possible insurance and tort settlement awards I could pursue. I am so glad that I met with her! Ela was efficient in hooking me up with the necessary treatment providers I required. She navigated the insurance process and provided me with regular updates. Bob Bernstein is very good at what he does and is very courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. My injuries also unfortunately led to a legal matter which Bob handled for me, and to my relief, he was able to resolve it in a positive outcome. I am very pleased with how Bob handled my accident and tort case files and with the final settlements he successfully negotiated on my behalf.

I wouldn't necessarily give zero stars, but I certainly wouldn't give 5 either. First off, let me just say that I'm incredibly grateful for Stephen being able to get me out of my particular predicament with a relatively positive outcome, but I feel the road getting there was infinitely more difficult than it should have been. I think it's only fair that I share my experience so people can make an informed decision.

For one, I found Stephen Bernstein incredibly difficult to get a hold of. On more than one occasion, I booked an over-the-phone meeting, just to be told he was with a client and would call me back. Or I would call and leave a message. In either instance, I've never heard back from him. I get that he's a lawyer, and he's very busy, but I don't appreciate my time being wasted. And this was even before Covid.

Any time I was looking for answers, all I would ever hear from Stephen or Bob were things like 'oh well, that depends', or 'it's hard to say'. If a client is looking down the barrel of a very long and difficult road, I don't think it would kill them to offer up a few positive reassurances. It was almost like I was being kept 'on the hook'. At least one paralegal staff member was able to do that for me along the way.

Although, most of their paralegal staff is not exactly very tactful. If you don't know whether your client's is going to be tried summarily or by indictment, you might not want to tell the client that before you check! That's a good way to give someone a heart attack. Jesus.

For the entire year and a half, I kept having to send them important documentation regarding my case because they would keep losing it. Like, why am I doing on the legwork? And I was repeatedly providing them information that would strengthen my case and show what sort of holes were in the prosecution's, only to never even have them even considered. And whenever I had legitimate concerns about the aftermath of my ordeal, things I would think would be common knowledge for a lawyer, Stephen's answer was, "You're paying me for who I know, not what I know. " Not exactly very reassuring.

At the day of my virtual hearing, Stephen looked like he had just rolled out of bed and had the camera tilted up too high, so half the time we could barely see his face. Way to put your best foot forward with the judge! Good lord. I get that legal professionals all know each other, but this was an important situation where my future was on the line and it just didn't feel like he was talking it seriously. Here I am paying thousands of dollars, and he's basically doing the bare minimum. Give me a break.

They say on their site that 'you'll be treated like family'. I felt like I was being treated like a pest who just owed them money. Which I never did, but they sure didn't waste any time asking how much I owed him any time I talked to them.

I get that crime is a bit of a problem in a city like Hamilton, and they are likely just swamped, but in retrospect, I would have chosen someone else. Even though things turned out for the best, I think a lot more could have been done to make the situation less of the long, drown-out nightmare of uncertainty that is was. I hope they remember that in the future.

*UPDATE* Their office actually reached out to me after they saw this, trying to convince me to change it. I find it funny how I never heard back from the guy when I needed him most, but when his rep is on the line, suddenly I get a phone call and some cookie-cutter emails trying to suck up. My statement stands. Maybe with it, they'll learn to treat others with more respect.

What you did should be criminal. Only speak for someone after they have requested your services. These guys will jump and speak for you in hopes they can collect some free legal aid money. Whether you requested they speak for you or knot.

Bob is top notch in dealing with anyone that is struggling with mental illness, especially that has been exacerbated by legal trouble. I cannot say enough good things about this law firm and all that work there. Professional and helpful right from the first phone call. They make you feel comfortable, listened to and less scared about the whole legal procedure. Don't think twice, this is the best legal practice in Hamilton. Stephen and Bob have exceeded my expectations helping a close family member facing criminal charges. From the minute she was held for bail, they acted immediately and got her out of custody and released to our care. Although the charges took some time to resolve, it was worth the wait. Stephen and Bob found significant weaknesses in the Crown’s case. A few weeks later, through negotiations, the charges were withdrawn leaving no criminal record behind. The Bernstein Law Group did an amazing job on my case. I was in a T-Bone accident when a driver ran a stop sign. I think he must have been on his cell phone. As the case started, the other driver said it was me who had ran the stop sign. Bob Bernstein hired a private investigator firm to gather more information and witness statements that eventually led to the other side admitting liability. Throughout the process this firm was professional, quick to answer any questions I had. I was always greeted with smiles, and the lawyers and assistants seemed sincerely happy to help me along the way.
