Best Western Plus Guildwood Inn

Excellent hotel and location. Excellent room service nice and tidy when I return for the night after a long day at work. Couldn't find a single reason to complain about it. Love my stay here every time my work place organization reserves a room for me here. The only hotel I would always recommend to stay in Sarnia whether it's for a single night or multiple you will enjoy every moment of your stay here. It would be nice to have a microwave oven in the room but you could always take your meal downstairs and the receptionist will warm it up for you without an issue.

The reason for the low rating is the exterior landscape.it's a mess.it looks like the hotel is going out of business.our patio area was a disgrace. I feel bad for the staff who go out of their way to serve us.
The bushes and plants are overgrown.weeds surround the pool.

Nice and quiet place. Great service. Friendly front desk staff (kudos Jeason and Karina). They have computers and printers. Room service. Breakfast included and gym. Fair prices and free parking.

Excellent, quiet clean room. We had the king suite with the 2 seat whirlpool. It smelled fresh and clean. We enjoyed our stay.

Needed somewhere to stay while we were passing through Sarnia, so we spent the night. We stayed in a king bed suite. The stay was okay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Yes, there were dead gnats (that have been swatted) on the walls, and it was clearly an older establishment in need of renovations (old carpets, slight odour, etc), but it's not really the end of the world. The made-to-order complimentary breakfast was surprisingly yummy. Even though it's supposed to be dine-in only, the staff were kind enough to pack it in takeout containers for us. The bacon had no grease, the egg was perfectly cooked, and the homefries were well seasoned and tasty. Decent place for a short stay. Might come back if we ever pass through again. Grateful that this place is dog-friendly, as we had our pup with us.

I stay here often on family business; they offer a pleasant place to stay at good rates. The restaurant attached the the hotel offers a good breakfast (complimentary on weekdays) and the rooms are comfortable. They have a large ground floor apparently fully wheelchair accessible. The location is convenient to the border, downtown Sarnia, local parks and other eating places.

We stayed one night on a road trip, but were pleasantly surprised by the Best Western Plus Guildwood as a clean, comfortable and convenient spot for the whole family on our stay in Sarnia (including our dog, as it is pet friendly).

The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating of our needs, and made sure both rooms were ready upon our late arrival so the kids could get to bed right away. There is ample parking, including multiple entrances so you can load and unload close to your car. Oddly, the back entrances weren't key-restricted or locked at night, but security wasn't really a concern.

The Marina wing of the hotel was an older build, but was bright and had relatively new fixtures. The advantage of these older wings is that they are far more soundproof, so there was no noise from other guests or the marina behind the building. Unfortunately, despite asking, we couldn't get adjoining rooms with internal connecting doors because my guess is that they don't have them, but they got us right next door if that's a concern for traveling families.

The rooms had a desk and chair, newer TVs, and a mini fridge (not stocked but a functioning freezer was great for our ice packs). The beds and linens were very comfortable, and the provided Pack-and-Play was very new, clean and hardly used (trust me, that's an unexpected bonus). The bathrooms had some basic soaps and towels, good enough to clean up comfortably (the bathroom fans were quite old, though, and we couldn't use them without waking everyone up). The AC units in the rooms worked well, and were quiet.

The hotel has a small gym, a nice outdoor pool for the summer, basic vending machines and some conference rooms. Despite being right next to the highway at the Canadian Border Point, it was quiet, but very convenient for travel. A few blocks away is a Tim Hortons, plus the Sarnia waterfront which is an amazing place to spend some time.

In summary, it is a more basic hotel, but it does all the important things right: great service, clean, comfortable and convenient. It's not fancy, but I've paid many times more for luxury hotel stays that weren't nearly as refreshing. We will be back again.

Hotel Staff Gone Missing Along With The Breakfast

Location – very good – close to USA border crossing
Hotel – older well maintained 2 story hotel,
B&B Tap & Grill on site – with restricted hours,
Front desk staff not very friendly, appeared to be all business no small talk,
Room – large, clean and everything worked well,
Furniture and rugs were in good shape,
AC did not appear to work well – difficult to get to lower temperature
Internet – below average – 5 mbps down, 2 mbps up (2.4 Ghz)
Breakfast – no breakfast provided on weekends, only Monday to Friday?
We had to have breakfast in the onsite restaurant!
In my many years of staying at Best Western Hotels, this is the first time
the hotel has not included breakfast with my stay – very CHEAP!
Diamond Rewards Member – not recognized by hotel staff at check-in!
Summary – based on the fact the hotel staff do not make you feel welcome
and the lack of a breakfast not included with your stay and given that I paid
just over $170 for the night – I WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN!

Debbie white house- McEwan is a terrible employee, with no regard for humanity and deserves no job at the best western.

Unfortunately our room had a bed bug situation - the room had obviously been smoked in prior to our stay as well. Front desk staff were absolutely lovely so the 2 stars are for them.

Stayed there for a night it was super quiet had a pool gym. Staff was super friendly and welcoming even though I asked a million questions! The free breakfast was good for being free also. The only thing I wish about the pool that it was cleaned out before using it but it still was fun!

It is a nice Hotel but for the money I prefer to stay at the Holiday Inn Express next door.

It might feel a bit on the older side, but the facility is very well maintained and kept up. I like to stay in the main floor rooms, as it gives me very easy access in and out of my room, and lets me get to my vehicle to warm it up in the morning, or move stuff in and out as needed. After a day of working it is a quick stop in to grab a shower and then head out for dinner freshened up. Nice spot, very quite, and the outdoor pool is really nice too.

The king room is up to date minus the bathroom.
The king size bed was super comfy.
Desk area had lots of room. There was an extra plug behind the night stand to plus in your phone plus there was also a USB hub provided on the night stand in the event you dont have your plug.
Staff was really nice and helpful.

Fast checkin. Covid precautions +. Very friendly staff, even when we told them about the cockroach scampering on the bedside lamp table. They offered to give us a new room, and even gave us 3 clear plastic bags for our clothes.

Since when the hotels brought the cheapest apples in the market. They still charge the same prices with zero services such as room service or restaurant or pool and gym it's unacceptable to get such a bad hospitality

Extremely bad customer service. Front desk staff was rude and the charged me for things I never ordered.

Friendly staff, rooms have outside access, free breakfast to-go. Comfortable bed. Only gripe is captive login portal makes it so you cannot use a chrome cast on the TV's, also the internet is VERY slow (10mbs/s) which makes watching Netflix after work near impossible when multiple people are using the internet. Fan in the washroom is aggressively loud.

We had a wonderful stay. We had booked a room for 1 night as something small and special to do for our anniversary. A lot of things went wrong that day, including the internet not working in our room - but the staff absolutely went above and beyond to make our stay better. They solved all of the issues and really took wonderful care of us. I highly recommend a stay at this hotel!

I checked in on the 26th of September, the check-in went very well I got room 114 a little very cute sweet about getting old- bit in the age from the first impression but when looking directly its clean and well-kept.

Big Plus - the access from my room to the outside into the green backyard and the beautiful jacuzzi in my room are also absolute plus points - sufficient parking spaces available and free internet -
Limited Service due to Covid 19.

The building is old and noisy. My old fridge in the room keeps making a beep noise all night. Also, some noise from the plumbing of the building can be heard at night. Except that, it was all good.

Amazing stay! Very friendly staff and a bed so comfy we slept in! Even though we were late for breakfast the staff made sure we didn't miss out to one of the best bagged breakfast so far on our travels!

We booked this property due to its close proximity to the St Clair River and the fact that it was a BW Plus. Check in was smooth and we were given a non smoking room. However upon entering the room it reeked of stale cigarette smoke. We contacted the front desk, but they had no other rooms available. They allowed us to check out at with no charge. We moved down the street to the Holiday Inn and got a much nicer room that had not been smoked in. For a BW Plus this was a disappointment.

Service was great it was Sunday morning the people were friendly and helpful our watress Carol was vary buisy she still did a exsalint job. We injoyed our breakfast vary much and will be back.keep up the good work Carol and the staff of Guildwood In Sarnia my

-There was mold in the hot tub.
-There was an extension cord that ran along between the top of the mattress and the box-spring, to have a lamp on each side of the bed. That seems like a fire hazard, especially because there was dust and hair around it.
-The handles on the elliptical trainer in the weight room were crumbling this black stuff. Seems like they could use some upkeep
-Not great but no bed-bugs in sight.

Tyler at the front was very sweet and accommodating. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathroom has a heat light which was very soothing. Some main floor rooms have a door to outside with a small sitting area. Pool looked clean and relaxing. Nicely decorated courtyard/sitting area by the pool.

Under construction.tried to sleep past 7, not happening. Men were yelling up and down the hallway, trucks beeping really not the best experience this time.

Clean rooms, a little dated but comfortable. Lots of construction in the area and lots of smoking going on in hotel. Good breakfast at restaurant but service was painful. No mugs, no cutlery, no service until we asked etc.

Staff were friendly although I believe a soccer tournament in town made it a bit noisy. We found some local restaurants that were nice along with some nice chain restaurants the beach is nearby and water is nice there

The people there are great there, in particular the counter (Katie & the duty manager (don't know his name). The condition of the room was a little run down. Broken table legs, lock knobs on the door coming off and to be honest, a gross toilet seat. I can't stress enough that the people working were very attentive and nice. Cleanliness of the room needs work.

I was there only 3 days and ripped off just as many times! Found a key card on desk unregisterd. I wasn't given a im sorry or nothing from manager until I complained to head office and then i was given a 25 coupon that i had to spend there? On top of that the pool was always dirty. I wouldn't go back and wouldnt recommend any one reading this review.

Went for a company thing and one of my co workers died of a heart attack. If this hotel had a defibrillator he might still be with us.

Very convenient. Right off the blue water bridge. Room was nice and b&b does fantastic breakfasts aswell.

Great experience checking in room amazingly clean facility outstanding restaurant excellent service food and great drinks
