Great selection of aquarium and pet supplies. Plus there is a big aquarium at the basement. Staffs are professional and attentive.

Like others have said their knowledge is questionable a coin flip at times, I saw one of their small pet's employees sell 4 rabbits to a family with two little kids, I felt so bad for the bunnies, I highly doubt that the person selling them told the family that 4 rabbits isn't gonna be a good idea, esp in 6 months when they get territorial start attack each other and biting on everything, breeding's gonna be crazy and I doubt the family is gonna be willing to get all 4 of them fix which would easily cost more then the rabbits themselves. The sales also mentioned that they had a "big" cage which if they really cared about the animals they would know that whatever cage they had wouldn't be big enough for one rabbit let alone 4.

I'm like a kid in a candy store when I go here. Went 3weeks ago and bought a Koi Beta, HIGHLY RECOMMEND a Koi Beta or a regular Beta if ur just starting out.
Wish I could go here EVERY WEEKEND!

Bought the Nano Canister filter in this location and was missing parts when I open the box. I had to drive another hour back to this location and when we arrive the cashier told us to wait for the manager to check the box? Ridiculous process not to mention that we already waited in the line because there’s only one cashier. We waited for nothing because the manager did not even come wherever he’s coming from! I have to call out another staff to help us “check” the box and had to line up again to process it! First it’s not my fault that you are selling incomplete merchandise! And you should have a better system and process. If your return policy is to wait for the manager’s to check every returns is totally waste of your customers time! Meanwhile the cashier doesn’t even followed up while I’m standing in the corner and she was just casually chatting with her colleague as if no one in the line and no one is waiting! This location need a better system and better customer service!

Big aquarium and pet store to come to for just about everything. From water to land there's literally something for everyone. You will definitely leave with a pet or something for them for sure!

For how popular this location is and the great products they have, the customer service is subpar compared to other locations and other LFS. Especially the male staff working upstairs in the aquarium/tanks department. Definitely go if you need something, but avoid the staff if you want to keep your blood pressure in check.

Great collection of fishes but staff could be more approachable. Also I called them and they picked up and hung up right away without even saying hello.

The people were really friendly. The aquarium decorations are pricey but lots of options to choose from.

Great selection in stuff. Name brand stuff that is, that cost a arm and a leg. Fish are mostly all deathly besides the saltwater section. They don’t sell medication for fish so, what the point in buying a fish from them? There staff are teenagers that mostly have no clue what I am talking about, but trained enough to sell you everything on the shelf other than that, source your stuff elsewhere for lower costs. The employee went above and beyond to make sure that I got what I wanted from the fish room. The blue Cherry shrimp that I bought are outstanding. Clean and organized and well stocked with knowledgeable staff.

I always have a great experience here. I drive almost 2hrs just to come to this location, even just to see what is in stock. Generally I go to buy fish, but I always check on the other sections too. You can't come here and not look at the reptiles, small animals, birds, and fish. The employees are always friendly and helpful as well.

For the first time in my life I talked to a tortoise. The girl who is in charge of reptiles literally left while I was taking to her left me taking to reptiles.

There is a pretty large selection of birds at this location. I purchased a parrotlet from here recently and was told that they are still young enough to tame (5 months old). Well, I have owned birds before and this bird is not easy to work with. I’m pretty sure he was already bonded to a bird in the cage so I’m sure he’s been a little depressed. The bird is very aggressive and does not like human interaction at all. The amount that they charge for a parrotlet, which is higher than most places, should reflect how tame the bird is. I don’t think these birds have ever had any human interaction. It’s a shame because he is a very pretty bird. Also, the 7 day health guarantee does not provide enough time to schedule in an appointment with an Avian vet. I would recommend buying from a breeder for a tamer bird that’s easier to work with.

Such an interesting store! They have so many varieties of fish (even a shark) and birds. They also have small animals like hamsters, bunnies, and guinea pigs. Very cute!

Great store overall. Knowledgeable staff (i know nothing about aquascaping and they were able to help me find the right tools and material). Great products in store. Reasonable and competitive prices. I recommend checking out their fish area and their birds area (opposite sides of the shop). They are lacking in products for dogs and cats though, but i believe it to be more of a space issue as the birds and fish take up quite a large part of the shop. They also have a nice reptile area.

Two levels of fish and acquariums. Lots of varietiey. Good prices. Some stuff for cats and dogs and other critters kept in cages.

This location have fish, replies and birds. On the main floor there is a selection of reptiles and birds. The basement has all of their aquariums, a large selection of freshwater and saltwater fish. Although there are many fish tanks, there is not a large variety of fish, mostly the same type of fish. Parking a bit tight. Employees are nice and knowledgeable.

Great store with many fish and better prices than other Big Al's that I've visited (Vaughan & Mississauga). Staff are also very knowledgeable. They have a 5 days warranty policy on fish so if you change your mind or if something happens to the fish within 5 days, bring it back and they'll give you a store credit. I've brought back some pleco I bought. They also have a very big selection of guppies of all kinds. So if guppies are you flavour, check out this Big Al's.

This store does not accept returns! The reason is because it’s been used and they cannot RESELL it. We only opened the package and found our bearded dragon does not even look at it. That’s why we wanna return. Returned products should not be resold anyway.

Very nice fish store! My son with an un-working brain, Ryan Lo Fai wanted to see the fish in this store. He got too excited and had an autism attack in the car! I wanted to get some nice goldfish for him, but I know he was going to smush or eat them so I bought him some stoopet feeder fishes instead! I had to smash this Joey Yee's head in to calm him down for this photo! You can see the before and after!

We got an aquarium with a couple fishes for by kid's birthday there. It was a great experience. The place is amazing and the staff is so friendly!

Very Very nice place to see and buy all types of animals! I have got a fish a few years ago a betta fish. When I came here to look for some birds they were I can say a little over priced.but this place is like an free trip to the zoo! I love looking at all types of animals also keep up the great work! Your animals are super healthy.

Something really awful has happened to me. An associate there (will be finding out her name) sold me incorrect fish food. Not only did my fish not eat the 2 servings that i fed him, it turned my tank completely black. There is clearly only a small amount of food gone from this container. I'm having to replace the $40 filter, gravel, and clean everything. After a few hours of cleaning and the water still being brown.i know i need to take this up with head office as this is a $500 fish tank. The associate should have know better to give me just any food.
I may have to purchase another tank just to clean the giant existing one.for sure should be coming out of the associates pocket.ill be there to pick up the filter and have a talk with management.thanks

Had to go here for curbside pick up during covid. Professionals with safety and with the selections they made on my behalf. I got some cherry shrimp and m/f guppies. I especially liked the female guppies they chose because they gave me a cool variety of colors. Blue, red and yellow and speckled. I hope to mate so that gives me a nice genepool. Thanks again and would definitely recommend a visit here. Used to catch me on a Tuesday watching shark feedings. -happy customer

I've been here dozens of times over the past 20 years, they always have what I need. Today I called for a pick up, and 5 minutes later they had my order ready!

The lady at the door for curbside was so rude that it was unbelievable. I am a store manager mysf and would never hire such a rude employee in my store.

Despite the minor wait, i got what i came for. Been coming to this place before it was Big Al's. Aquarium Services by 1185 Kennedy, I think, early 80s. Lifetime customer. Best all round petstore for exotic Birds to Reptiles to Fish.

Online availability of items is wrong in curb side pick up. You will order online and just before you reach you will get an email smaller size item only is available. So confirm the item is available and then alone place the online order.

Disgusting Store Practice bordering on Fraud!

I purchased items on line for curve side pick-up. I arrive at the store and I am charged more than the invoice I received and the invoice the customer associate dropped in the floor prior to attending to me. The front desk person brought the items up to the front to cash them out and had dropped the invoice on the floor without even looking at it. She then proceeded to weigh everything again, after it had been packed and an invoice completed. Surprisingly the new weight was more and she told me the invoice amount was wrong. I pointed to the invoice on the floor, according to her it is wrong too. Surprise surprise, one price turns out to be a different price when they decide to weigh items again. Even though it was not a big difference I felt I was being nickel and dimed and defrauded. If they can do this to a small charge imagine what they can do with a bigger invoice. I do not know if this is a One-off with an overzealous employee at the end of her shift not doing her job (the invoice she dropped was the same as I had been emailed and there was no need to redo it again) or this is what they are truly all about. Their original invoice matched mine, why did she fee the need to change it and make a new one because in her mind the original did not count?

Disgusting store practice that I never expected to encounter from them. I hope they change this practice before people start going to the other five aquariums in the area.

The fellows that talk to you about the fish are very knowledgeable about the fish and habitat that I don't feel I have gotten that anywhere else.

I bought betta Fish from here. It is good. But they gave me Betta food which was expired on August 2020. It's okay, it's only 2 dollars but I trusted them and they gave me expired one.

Huge store, lots of exotic pet supplies. We were able to find superworms, crickets and caterpillars for our tarantula. Store also sells springtails! Great place to find the things PetSmart DOESNT carry

Its a big store. It us a lot of pets related things. I don't know much about prices here in Canada but a couple o things that I compared o Amazon were more expensive. The employes weren't super nice either but nothing absurd.

Best place to buy fresh water and marine fish in Toronto! They have a huge variety of tropical fish, and all the accessories one needs foe fish keeping. Great staff and great sales every week! Highly recommend this place.

Great aquarium with a wide selection of tanks and products for fish enthusiasts. The staff are helpful and very knowledgeable and will spend the time to explain things to you. As a beginner fish caretaker, I learned a lot here and would definitely recommend the shop to anyone interested in taking care of fish or setting up an aquarium. My only issue was the lack of inventory (for plants and gravel cleaners) when I went in, but they told me they would restock in the next couple of days. Overall, a good experience!

My whole family loves going to Big Al's. We got our beta fish and bunny there. The selection of fish there is really big and there are plenty of friendly staff to help if you have questions. The small animals upstairs are well taken care of. Parking in the back of the store is good.

Big Al's Scarborough is a one stop shop for all pet supplies/needs. From fish, aquariums, pet food, reptiles, parrots, furry friends, toys, decorations, cages and equipments.

Very nice place. Kids would definitely love this place because they have so many amazing birds and reptiles. Aquarium in the downstairs is a gem! I highly recommend this place!

This place is crazy! Everyone is super knowledgeable about whichever area they are in and helpful. I got two saltwater hermit crabs and they have settled into my tank quite nicely.

I like to support local business but when the prices almost double you cant, some stuff price is fair but other the staff is very helpful I just think they should adjust to the today market

I can only speak to the fish side of BIG Al’s, they have anything and everything fish. Their products are supported by years and years of PASSIONATE EXPERIENCE. You got questions, they got answers and products/inventory. As for everything else in the store, I’d go early and look around it’s AMAZING.

Great place for pet shopping needs. I went here for an aquarium and they had a lot of variety for both salt and fresh water fishes and tanks. Amazing collection of jewels and artifacts for landscaping.

Today 14th April around 12th noon I dealt with a person in Scarborough location called Alex in the ground level fish area. The reason I went there to exchange a dead Tropical fish "t11" which I bought on 8th April. After looking at the bill Alex said you are 2 days late but I showed the order form where its marked 7 days warranty? Alex said that is only for reptiles, for fish only 5 days. I explained to Alex, fish died on the 3rd day and since I was working I left it in the Fridge and today only I found some time to come in. Alex understand my situation and said he will help. Same time I end up in spending a $25 on new fish too. I went upstairs to pay for the fish then I understood Alex smartly included the dead fish also in the new order so that I will pay 50% for it. Because of this action from him I had to get upset with the cashier and finally a manager had to come out and help me exchange the fish. Finally I end up returning all my new purchases and bit my finger and left the store. Big Al is a good store to buy something but when there is a real issue now I understood they turn their back on us. This is not just my experience alone see other reviews. By the by I am a frequent visitor to this store and I didn't get any privilege of anything.

I have been going here for years, staff have always had attitude problems. The only good thing is their stock and actual pets. I played with every single one of their Conures, and they were all responsive proving that they have a reliable breeder. When you visit shady stores, the conures aren't usually as smart and show behavioral problems. Overall, impressed by the state of every animal.

Pretty good but I'd love it if they would stop making up names for fish. Guitar catfish vs Hill stream loach etc. Also love the young kids working there and it's just a job to them but if you give advice to customers it would be better if it were correct. Prices are good though especially if you get lucky on clearance, and they have the best selection of food in town.

Clean and organized. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I bought a parakeet with cage and all the supplies needed. I am very happy with my new pet and I plan to go back there for any further purchases. Just better products. Thanks Big Al's

Love this shop. Knowledgeable staff. Great prices. You can find some good deals on corals and marine fish. Also they have tons of other animals, birds, reptiles and smaller animals. All animals are taken care of very well. Tip, get their points card.
