We saw their booth at the home show. They sent a rep out to visit us and showed us a video of the manufacturing process. From initial consultation to installation, everything was exactly the price quoted, which we felt was good value for money. Every member of their team we dealt with was super professional, and we felt that they cared about us as customers.

We ultimately had four windows installed, including a replacement octagonal window which turned out fantastic. They even made a recommendation for our kitchen window overlooking our deck that made the kitchen brighter (removing a cross piece), allows for better airflow, and it no longer interferes with our patio umbrella.

The best part is the 25 year warranty. While we now have to move for work, it's nice to know the warranty is transferrable so we can use this as a selling point.

Very rude! Came to my house to give me a quote. Man arrived dirty and stinking like you wouldn’t believe. It was a quote for my front door, I had lots of ideas about the type of door I was looking for, something modern. He kept trying to refer me back to this one particular door that was on special, telling me that this was all I needed. This was the best deal. I told him flat out I’m not interested in the best deal, I want a door that I like and I don’t like that door. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. We tried to move on from the front door since it was going nowhere, and we asked about one of our basement windows, he did not even want to discuss. He said “maybe about $800”, wouldn’t put anything in writing. He was clearly angry, that I was not interested in the one particular door that he wanted me to choose, and acted like I was wasting his time.

TL;DR
- 5 month wait to install a door with missing pieces
- Bait & switch tactics
- Pro: the communication was good, eventually gave us options. Everyone was really friendly, but I cannot recommend.

We had ordered a front door mid-May. Nothing too fancy and we knew the width of the door it was replacing was a decent size so we were limited. No problem. We pick something within the top end of our budget that we liked, signed the paperwork, gave a deposit.

Get a call in June or so saying they cannot do the door the way we wanted and instead the only way to go about it is to go a much more expensive route. It was out of budget so we really did not want to do that, we'd just be better off starting from scratch elsewhere.

The kicker? Because we signed the paperwork for a door (even if it wasn't the same one they had sold us?), they wouldn't let us break the contract and get our deposit back. So it was either fork out the hundreds of dollars extra or lose a deposit if a couple hundred bucks. We had to go searching through consumer rights in ontario because that just did not make sense and it rightfully found it did not.

Lots of back and forth, visited their office a few times. Finally was able to negotiate getting our deposit back or lowering the cost of whatever extra they needed to add to "our" door.

We decided that we were just too tired at this point to go through this whole process with another company (plus, we really needed a new door since we could see right through our old one). We had them install the door which took them until November.

They installed it, the installors were great, but of course they forgot to order the brick molding for the door. So, the waiting game begins anew. How many months more?

I do want to say that they were friendly and did do an effort to communicate with us hence the 2 stars.

EDIT: still have not heard back. Changed my rating.

EDIT 2: we now have mold growing on the door and we cannot open it on cold days as its frozen shut.

Update: all our new windows are drafty

I've never had to work so hard as a customer to get the service that I paid for. I lost count the amount of times I emailed to book a service date to get the windows installed, only to have them give me the runaround each time. Ordered in October 2021 and finally installed in May 2022. The installers forgot to caulk on the outside and the caulking on the inside has cracked. We asked for a touch up on the caulking and to fill the spots they missed which took another 2 months to get fixed, and he "forgot" the black caulking on the outside so they have to send another serviceman to fix it.

Although I like our new windows, you should spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Where do I begin. Gave the deposit in January and nothing happened till July. I knew some measurements didn't work regarding my front door and made three attempts to reach out to my sales rep Colin but no response. When they came to install the door the installers notified me that I would need 4 in of flashing to make the door work. They did agree with me and returned the door for proper resizing. This all could have been avoided. They also didn't have one window to complete my order and I had to wait another month. I was told at the time of sales that new windows don't condensate. Lo and behold with the cooler temperatures they are all pooling water which leads to mold growth.
The humidity in my house isn't high either as I use a dehumidifier in the basement.
This was the final straw that led me to write this review. These two pictures are one window on the main floor and the other one on the top floor.

I most definitely paid for the kitchen window I checked the bill. No fault of mine.

One of the windows didn't have the trim installed, I noticed the installers didn't completely fill the void with foam. This could be my issue with condensate. I'll do it myself thanks but no thanks.

I can't stop looking at my new windows, I’m so grateful to Big City Windows and Doors for them. I also want to add that the company consulted me in detail, helped me to decide which windows would suit me. I highly recommend it.

Freindly staff, good product. Unfortanetly, the Big City Windows and Doors install team came 2 hours late to my home, they were held up by another project, is what they told me. The casement windows in our bedroom, awning windows in the basement and the sliding patio door out back look great. They really make the interior pop and make it feel so much livelier.

Great quality windows, love the energy efficiency and the rebate I got from the Canada Greener Homes grant was a huge help! The castle gate wooden doors out front already got compliments from the neighbours. Denis was great at organizing the whole project and getting it all done on time, in only 5 weeks from the first call to installation. Love it!

The windows are great for cold winter nights and helped me save BIG on heating and cooling. They used to get all foggy before, now they’re perfect for the view from the hillside.

They always checked up with me to see if I was happy and would always ask if there was anything I wanted changed. Great quality workmanship. The whole crew looked like they were in an army corps the way they were working. I needed to replace my kitchen and basement windows and I didn’t know where to start. I got 4 separate quotes and chose to go with Big City, I’m glad I did! Super quick response time, got an appointment booked within an hour, had a team come over the next day and had the installation done after one month! The awning windows work great for the basement and the casement windows are beautiful!
