Chicken in the sandwhich was supposed to be crispy but it was more like burnt shnitzel. Our table also had a curve in it and it was weird and uncomfortable
Service was great, but sadly, the food was terrible. 4 out of our party of 5 didn't eat. Chicken was not even edible it was so dry, fries were cold and seemed reheated. Ribs were a rack of fat, really disappointing.
Being a larger party (table of 10 on a Friday at lunch) our server did a good job with drinks and food but the food was disappointing. Having eaten at the Big Rig’s on Iris a couple of times and enjoyed the food this location did not meet that standard. Had the smoked brisket sandwich and the brisket definitely needed an hour or two more in the smoker. The meat wasn’t tough, but wasn’t tender either, and the fat and connective tissue bits were chewy and tough- didn’t finish it. Fries were also cool and soggy. Hopefully a bad day, the rest of the table had mixed reviews of their food, with the only strongly positive statement being in favour of the chicken pizza.
This used to be my husband and my fav date night location. Best Cobb salad. We were there about 2 months ago and decided we would never return. Although the service was good, the restaurant was looking very shoddy (and quite dirty) and the food had taken a dive in quality. The bathrooms were always pretty bad here but last visit I just decided to hold it. Too bad.
Ottawa has a lot of big box pubs. Big rig is fairly well known as an Ottawa thing and many a suburban coworker of mine over the years will generally go with them for an event.
Long & short, go there for their special brews if that's your thing but as a food person they are average, maybe slightly above average but only comparing to other pubs. Nice venue/decor style helps a lot too for your typical generic meetup or office party.
Service was great. Food was OK, except 1) very few vegan/veg options and 2) no non-alcoholic beers/cocktails.both of which seem very behind the times. Overall experience was decent but likely won't go back until the menu gets updated a bit! Thanks.
Incredible service! 10/10. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was big big portions. I had the fish and chips which I recommend and my spouse the pizza. Everything was delicious and came super quick. The place was quiet and not busy at all which was nice. Will definitely be back to try their other menu items.
Disappointing and expensive meal. We ordered three sandwiches; fish, pork and beef, and they all seriously lacked flavour - but the beef brisket was tasting like the meat was going off and half the meat was just huge chunks of fat. Really gross. The fries were stale and lukewarm. The wings we ordered as an app bordered on burnt and were rubbery. The only good thing about our meal was my sweet potato fries. I did mention the brisket to the server, and he assured me they would make it up to us…and knocked a whole $10 off the bill, which still came to $96 without any drinks.
I have always enjoyed everything about Big Rig Gloucester but this time Chantal put it over the moon! Her attention to my grandchildren was inspirational. My grandson has already planned his birthday dinner there for December. She totally involved herself in their choices and monitored them throughout our stay. She has a fabulous sense of humour, tremendous knowledge, and really cares. I'll be telling all my friends and we'll be back. Love to Chantal.
Nice atmosphere and friendly service. The nachos were good however we added the pulled pork as a protein and it was way too sweet for a nachos topping.
Despite the good atmosphere and service, I only gave an overall three stars due to the ridiculous portion size of fried calamari served ($19!). Understandably restaurant prices have gone up everywhere, but this is ridiculous!
