Birreria Volo

Looks can be deceiving. Came here for what was supposed to be a quick bite, and ended up waiting nearly 50 minutes for our food. This would be understandable had it been a busy Saturday evening - we were here at 2 in the afternoon. And 2 of maybe 4 in the restaurant.

The 50 minute wait time is even more wild when you consider we ordered a sandwich, burrata, and bread for the table. Not exactly what you would call “time consuming” dishes to prepare.

On top of that the servers offered no update on the food, we had to get up from our tables and inquire. After 40 mins we were told 2 mins, only for an additional 10 mins to come and go before food finally arrived. We were offered a “sorry” not much else.

On a street like College, there’s dozens of better options. Check those out before ever coming here.

Nov 2022 - cold rainy day - great place with great food and drinks. The only issue I had was that you had to order at the bar. This normally is nothing bad, however, the place is very small and when it is crowded, getting a drink can take up to 30 min. The staff was amazing, but there must be an easier way to reach out to customers

Blink and you might miss this awesome beer bar. What a vibe! It’s a long, narrow bar with tons of great beer options. The interior is red brick, wood and barrels. Moody and intimate. You can sit wherever. They’ve partnered with PG Clucks for food. I mean fried chicken and beer.you can’t go wrong!

The bartender guy was rude. It was not even busy. The pizza was awful. Wouldn’t visit this place ever.

Great food and wide variety of beers on tap, literally listed from A to Z. Very happy we came across this spot on a date night.

Espresso martini on tap, not as good as a cocktail, but does the trick when you want to keep them flowing and stay awake for the next leg of your night.

First date, back patio. Do it. Such a nice quiet space where two people can get to know each other. It was a great setting with friendly staff, great staff, food, and drinks. Prices weren't too bad either!

Cozy, ambiance chaleureuse, mais un peu sombre. Bon choix de bières et belle terrasse. Je recommande!

Birreria Volo is a super cute spot on College with a fantastic beer selection. They also have a tasty food menu - I’d recommend the crostini and burrata. The survey was good. There is no table service, you need to go to the bar each time; however they do let you run a tab. Check it out!

LOVE IT! Their beer it’s delicious and the friend chicken OH MY it’s the best one I have ever tried!

Ok hands down the best chicken sandwich I had. The atmosphere and drinks also perfect. It was my first time there but I know I’ll be going back more. I ordered the classic but my friends who had the spicy one say its spicy spicy.

A nice selection overall, but at the end of the day it fell a little flat for me. Can’t win them all.

Such bad service at this place. Sarah clearly had other places to be. We arrived and sat at a table adjacent to the group we were with, told it was last call - no problem but when ordering drinks she walked away mid sentence to get another tables order saying she'd be back. Didn't come back, had to call her back from walking inside. Then, when getting the bill there was auto gratuity on there, she said because we with a group. Understandable if we were all on one table but then don't confirm when ordering drinks that it would be separated from the others since we weren't sitting with them. Horrible attitude when discussing the bill too. As a server, there are ways to indicate end of service to guests but it certainly isn't with a bad attitude and rude service.

Lovely, quaint patio out back. Definitely don’t feel like you’re in Toronto. Food was great too!

Amazing beer bar housed in an old alley. Always excellent rotating tap selection. Snack sized and sharing plates are high quality.

Staff and service are always top notch. The best place in the city to discover new beers and eat some amazing fried chicken from next door. Great laidback vibe, too!

Best place in the city to try a new beer and maybe a glass of wine. Great staff very helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. Can’t wait to go back again

This is one of the best craft beer bars in the city and in Canada for quality and selection. The Moranas and their staff are friendly and super knowledgeable about beer and wine. Every time I visit I have a great time and receive first class service.

Volo has the best beer portfolio in the city and the staff are attentive, charming and very knowledgeable! It's an absolute gem of a spot!

Wonderful place! Have been so many times, proposed to my future wife in the back patio, and the staff took it to the NEXT LEVEL when they found out I did. Forever customer, always great but they made a once in a lifetime situation an experience we both will never forget.

Love this place! Great selection of ales and natural wines and the antipasto plates were very good. I was served by one of the owners of the bar Julian.he was very knowledgeable about all the ales on tap and wines and described everything that was on our antipasto plate. The ambience is nice. I especially like the intimacy of the place and the architecture. Will be back for sure!

Excellent spot for beer aficionados and wine drinkers alike. Nice selection of small plates and mouth watering fried chicken available. Fun for a group or an intimate gathering. Looking forward to my next visit.

Honestly, go to local Toronto breweries because bar volo is clearly overpriced. I used to go here on the regular but now the service isn't great and they don't value loyal customers.

They don't let you try sample of their DRAFT beer and if you don't like it because they explained it wrong they say "Too bad, pay for this $12 beer". Never returning! Do not recommend if you want to try new beers.

Still a beautiful place for good beer and snacks.
However, I have had one of the worst vine in my life in here.

I had higher hopes for this craft beer bar. I truly did. I read about it on enough food blogs, and Toronto essentials lists, that it seemed like a necessary addition to the must-visit list. We went on a slow Wednesday evening. The things that you will read that are accurate are that it is an absolutely beautiful bar. With brick walls spanning the narrow space and barrels converted into table tops, it is an incredibly beautiful space to visit for the evening. The beer list is extensive. There are some really unique and hard to obtain beers that you won't be able to find elsewhere.

However, the service and bartender knowledge leaves much to be desired. I asked what their most sour beer was on draft and the question seemed to catch the bartender off guard. He recommended the Umi Gose with Okinawan Shikuwasa and Sea Salt (Godspeed Brewery). I asked for a sample and he said they don't do samples.so I bit my tongue and I went with his recommendation. It was a mistake. The sour was not anything special. I wouldn't describe as particularly "sour" or earth-shattering. I've had many more tart and sour goses than that.

Moral of the story: if you don't have a beer that matches the profile someone is looking for, and you're not willing to offer a sample, just be honest and say you don't have anything particularly sour on draft. I would have then moved onto a different beer style. As is, I left feeling disappointed and entirely underwhelmed by the experience. The hype about this place is undeserved.

Awesome beer, food and space with a staff that are knowledgable and willing to help as much as necessary. One of my favourite spots with maybe the best patio in the city.

I used to love this place. Then: intimate and cozy space featuring 26 exclusive and rare craft beer on tap. Now: overcrowded cramped space filled with yelling people and deafening music, featuring 26 mediocre beer on tap costing b/w $8.50 to $12 for what other bars would give for free as a sample (5 - 12oz). Worst value in Toronto. I paid $8.5 plus their ridiculous 18% tip rate (the only option when using debit) for 10oz of a beer that goes for $7.25 per 16oz at the brewery. Most of the beer they had could also be picked up a across the street at the LCBO. Why bother? There are plenty of better places nearby.

Good ambience, beer selection while good was below expectations.
Folly brewpub, which is 900 meters away has a far better selection of sour as well as creative beer.

Nice evening atmosphere. Huge beer selection. Limited food selection (check their website for menu). Limited seating.

LOOOOOOOOOVED this place. The beer selection is so expansive it could easily be intimidating, but the staff are so lovely and welcoming that we felt right at home. Loved the beer flight and tapas-style situation, and the cosy cave-like interior. We will come back for sure.

Many taps were out - otherwise, great selection of beers in a charming, narrow, brick bar. Mini charcuterie and cheese plates make for a great addition to the table.

If you're looking for a great sour or stout, look no further than this cosy Italian-inspired bar. They have a set of rotating taps with one for every letter of the alphabet. Each holds a uniquely delicious craft beer that will delight your tastebuds. And if you needed more convincing, PG Clucks is right next door, serving the best fried chicken in Toronto. You can even order right from the bar! Love this place

Best beer bar ever! The staff and selection are on point every time. Love this spot for Friday and Saturday night dates always ends in a smash

Selection of 26 beer taps, a few good ones but mostly things you can get much cheaper elsewhere. The music is probably too loud for you to sit and chat.
Frankly I'd choose another place where you can get a full size pint for less than 10 bucks.

Great place for craft beer, it's not a large venue. Very narrow, because it's a converted alley. Tables are communal, so be social. A recommended venue for drinks and fun.

Excellent selection of craft beers. They offer both smaller glasses or larger glasses for sampling so you can really try a bunch of beers without spending a ton of money. They've got a great selection of sour beers which I particularly enjoy.

Large selection of beers. The chicken sandwich are from right next door with a small markup. A good place to go to sample beers.

The beers and atmosphere are wonderful but the space is a bit cramped and doesn't feel as social as original Volo did. Still, there's nothing else quite like it and I'm as happy going as ever. The selection is always fantastic and they put things in front of you that other bars just don't. There are so many more amazing beer bars in the city than their used to be but Volo remains untouchable.

Such an amazing spot in Little Italy, it’s so quaint and I was living for the aesthetics of the whole place. We had a few small plates and some beers and cider here as a late afternoon stop - would recommend for any time of the day though. Definitely a perfect date spot! Their beer selection is some of the best in the city and a really interesting range of ciders as well. Beef carpaccio and muffaelata sandwich were to die for, kale Caesar needed a lil work. Make sure to to check out the back patio in season, it’s everything!

Well, I've celebrated my birthday 3y ago at the old barVolo and both the beer menu and customer service were great! I've returned to Canada on vacations and decided to celebrate my birthday again at Birreria Volo. The beer menu is still great but there is a lack of customer service! My wife tried to surprise with a birthday cake and they wanted to charge $25 fee for bringing external food even though they dont have any cake options in the place! We are very disappointed.

Randomly came upon this while taking a stroll to find food! This place is so freakin cute! Looks like a place you'd see in the movies. What a perfect little place for a date or even girls night! I would def come back! Wish I lived closer! There were only two bartenders when I walked in both very friendly. We only had drinks so can't comment on the food. The gentleman running the food was also very friendly and recommended places around the area for dinner. We could have had dinner there but we just wanted a menu with more options but we would def come back to snack on some of the munchies!
