This is an excellent vet clinic. Dr. Riad took great care of my dog when he went in for a hematoma and allergy problems with great results. His ear is no longer swollen, and all the allergy related problems are taken care of. Dr. Riad also made a plan for what to do when symptoms eventually come back. Definitely my best vet experience, and I recommend them highly.

Can’t say enough about the staff and doctors at Blackburn Animal Hospital. We found a tick on our little one year old Maltese in May and, not coming from an area where ticks are overly common, we were concerned about whether we had got the head. We were quite nervous. Initially, we went to the Hamlet Vet Hospital, but had a less than satisfactory experience.

We immediately took our pup across the street where BAH were able to take a took at him right away. Not only that, but we mentioned that we were struggling to get him to eat. They suggested a food, and it’s the only kibble he’s eaten, going on four months.

Our dog got sick again with canine influenza a few weeks ago. They did a bunch of tests, blood work, and provided us with antibiotics. The whole time treating him with the greatest of care. We’ve had to go back two other times for reasons related to his illness, but the vet and manager were so kind and understanding. Normally, veterinary expenses can be prohibitive, but BAH has treated so reasonably. Other members of staff are equally sweet and caring when handling him. He doesn’t like other vets much, but he is definitely warming up to these guys.

All I can say is I’m very happy with the service we’ve been receiving.

The most incredible vet I have ever met! The compassion they show with the animals is unbeatable, truly they are there for the animal not to just line their pockets! Fair pricing, responsive to any questions or concerns you have without saying “I don’t know bring them in”! Amazing people I suggest everyone take their fur babies to them to have the smoothest vet visit of their lives.

Amazing place, great and friendly staff who care about my pets. They have really good pricing too. Added bonus they are open on Saturdays for those who have busy work week schedules! Definitely recommend this place!

Fantastic vet! Dr Mobarak was so caring and compassionate for our sick little boy! After an overnight stay and proper medication our Alfie is doing so much better! Thank you to all the staff at Blackburn Animal Hospital!

I am beyond grateful for the care and compassion my cat received. I was not a patient there, but they took him in immediately on short notice. He required 5 days hospitalization and lots of meds and different procedures done as he had a bad infection. They were accommodating and allowed me to visit whenever I wanted and stay with him as long as I wanted. Ahmad even came in on Sunday even though they’re closed to let me stay with him for a while. They helped to keep the costs as low as possible and financed what I wasn’t able to pay up front. He is back home and recovering. I can’t thank you guys enough ️️️

Our bunnies get such great care here! Dr. Mobarak clearly knows what he's doing with rabbits, and he shows that he genuinely cares about us and our pets!
All of the vet techs we've worked with have been great, but a special shout out goes to Melanie. We've had her with us in the examination room a number of times. She's knowledgeable, so kind to us and our bunnies, and makes the stress of needing a vet visit easier to bear!

I would of given it a 5 star but what happened is not acceptable at all… I went there to get my cat euthanized. When filled out the form they gave me I requested a paw print with the ashes (it was an option i could get). When I went to pick up the ashes…. No paw print. Like are you serious! Too late now to do anything now! Can’t fix that! I wanted the paw print so I can get a tattoo of my 1st baby’s paw print!

Been going here with my guinea pigs for years; always excellent customer service and a big help anytime we have any issue!

I was extremely impressed with the level of care and professionalism provided by the staff. From the moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with friendly smiles and a warm welcome.

The clinic itself is clean, modern and well-equipped, providing the best possible care for my dog. During the appointment, the veterinarian took the time to explain every aspect of my dog’s health and answered all of my questions with patience and understanding.

They went above and beyond to ensure that all of my concerns were addressed and that I was completely satisfied with expectations. I will definitely be returning for all of my dog’s future health needs.

We took our very sick kitten here and he had to stay at the hospital for 24hrs since he was very sick and needed IV. Our kitten is doing great and we are so thankful to have found this amazing animal hospital.

They are awful. I have 2 pet rabbits, one male and one female. Here is my story:
1. I brought in my male gendered rabbit to be neutered back in July 2022. They called me an hour later saying my rabbit was a female (with full confidence) and that I had to pay extra for the surgery. Apparently, they had only checked if his testes had dropped without doing any additional testing. I trusted the vet because, why wouldn’t I? A lot of rabbits die during these surgeries so I opted not to get the surgery since that meant I have 2 females.
2. January 18, my female bunny started to act VERY weird and through research I determined that she was behaving as if she was pregnant. I took her in to be checked by the vet on January 19. He did an ultrasound and said there was no pregnancy, just a cyst. Again, why wouldn’t I trust his words?
3. Saturday, January 28. I wake up to baby bunnies! A rabbit pregnancy lasts 30 days so she was DEFINITELY pregnant when I brought her in.

Excuses they gave me: science isn’t perfect and your male didn’t have testes showing when you brought him so we went with the obvious that he was a female without doing any additional tests. They also didn’t tell me they weren’t sure if he was a male and they had to confirm, they were confident that he was a female. My favourite was: You didn’t give us proof he was a male so we trusted our judgment and you have no actual proof so he could still be a female. You didn’t want to pay extra for a spay surgery so it’s your fault that we never knew he was actually a male. They definitely would’ve killed him if they were doing a surgery for a female when he is actually a male so basically I was paying extra for my rabbit to die. We did the ultrasound and didn’t see any vertebrate or skulls so we thought the mass inside her was a cyst without doing any additional testing. How do we know those babies are from those same 2 rabbits? I live in a high rise with no access to other rabbits and the female is feeding her babies… yea, I’m sure.

Finally, they said they would refund me all the money I had paid them on the condition that I sign a waiver of liability indemnifying them from any responsibility for the 4 baby bunnies I now have to take care of! No way am I signing away their responsibility from this fiasco. It was their fault from the get-go and they don’t want to take ownership. They are either con-artists or incompetent, or BOTH.

My cat has a lot of medical issues, so we visit Blackburn Animal Hospital frequently. Every time, the staff is lovely, upbeat and caring despite juggling many tasks and now COVID restrictions making their jobs more difficult. My cat always receives good care and I am so grateful for that!

I wish I could show you before and after pictures of my boy simba. I got him he had untreated allergies, after only a month he looks like a whole new dog. His ears are the most remarkable progress. We did laser. When we came in his ears where swollen and missing hair. His ears are now back to normal and hair growth is amazing. I cannot say enough good things about this place, their kindness and grace is beyond amazing

This clinic was awesome. 10/10 experience with this animal hospital. Very in and out when possible, and prices are extremely affordable. They also genuinely care about their furry patients. Awesome awesome clinic.

We are from out of town and hours away from our original vet clinic. I called in and they were able to take my dog in for an emergency appointment the same day. The entire team was professional, helpful, welcoming and kind throughout the entire process. Hands down the best vet in Ottawa and will recommend this place to everyone!

I found them to greatly lack clear communication. When I brought in my cat they ran a bunch of tests (blood work, x-rays, blood pressure etc) and found a gut infection and treated it. Two months later I brought him since he became ill again. They didn’t tell me until I came back two months later that his liver and kidneys were pretty much at the end of their life and that the x-ray had shown a growth that was possibly causing a blockage in his digestive system, and he had an enlarged thyroid. These were the results found on the first tests I had at my first visit with them two months earlier. Due to all the issues not discussed with me, I was unable to make informed decisions on the best options for my cat. At the second visit it was decided that the best option was euthanasia so we scheduled the appointment. The appointment did not go well and there was a lack of bedside manner. These vets have big hearts and care about what they do, but they need to organize themselves better and communicate all issues clearly so that we can make the best informed choices for our loved ones.

Everyone from the front desk to the vet tech and the doctor was absolutely amazing.
From the moment I called I knew I made a good decision going to this vet. They got me in the next day for a consultation and emergency ultrasound. Everyone was very warm, helpful and informative.
My dog ended up needing bladder stone removal as well as a spay, she is an older dog and they took amazing care of her and got her in within just a couple of days.they kept her overnight as a precaution and brought her back to us healthy, safe, and happy. They went over post op instructions, medications and everything in detail and made us feel like our dog was very well taken care of.
The staff was lovely, warm and friendly. They were making jokes with us and also accommodating us in every way possible.
I couldn’t be more thankful to Dr. Moborak and staff.

I would give this vet 0 stars if i could. Tried to bill me over 1000.00$, but wouldn't give me any answers.
He was "nice enough" to give me a 5% discount if I spent over 700 dollars, and was a student though!
Stay away.

EDIT: Was in a pinch and needed to order some anti-seizure medication from my dog. I usually went to the Blackburn Vet clinic across the street, but they were closed.
I have paper work, email history, the pill bottle + label itself. These guys wanted to charge me a 300 dollar CONSULT fee.
If you're someone who likes throwing money out the window, then this vet is for you.

The staff were amazing. I am thankful to have great staff looking out for my pup. The man at the desk was a vibe. His energy is amazing.

We brought our 3 year old GSD, Jengo, in for the first time today. Our previous vet told us we needed to amputate his toe due to a nail split gone wrong. We were referred to the Blackburn Animal Hospital by a friend and were originally cautious about switching vets as Jengo is extremely reactive, however, we are so glad we did. From the first call with Ahmad, to the appointment itself, the Dr.s, Ahmad, and staff were beyond welcoming and reassuring.

Jengo’s reactivity was triggered by a poor experience at a different vet previously and we wanted him to be as comfortable as possible. We usually sedate him before vet visits but we brought him in fully conscious for his appointment at the Blackburn Animal Hospital and it went amazingly well. They made it such a good experience for Jengo and allowed us to stay with him throughout the appointment and procedure to comfort him. The Dr’s were super gentle and careful with Jengo, and Ahmad kept everyone laughing to ease the anxiety in us humans, thus easing Jengo’s anxiety as well.

The Dr’s managed to save the toe and only remove the nail, while addressing all of our other concerns with Jengo.

I would highly recommend Blackburn Animal Hospital. The environment and staff energy made for such a great experience. Thank you so so much Ahmad, Dr. Mobarak, and staff. We are forever grateful and look forward to having you as our vet moving forward.

They were amazing from initial call to end of visit. After calling so many vets I was very grateful at how timely they could see my boy, it was so amazing we are going to continue to use blackburn animal hospital for routine checks also.

Took our little puppy Zuri this morning for a checkup and I couldn’t be more impressed of how attentive and welcoming the staff was! Dr. Mobarak took great care of her and made sure I had the steps and information needed for her medication before we left, as well as the receptionists who also gave her lots of love and treats. Zuri felt so comfortable as did I with the medication and info given. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

We took our 15 year old indoor cat to the Vet because her ears were bothering her and to assess if weight loss was due to aging or an underlying condition.

Here’s a synopsis of our first visit:

1. A physical exam indicated an enlarged thyroid and a blood test was done. Her ears were not examined as they said it was not a priority;

2. They indicated we’d receive a call within an hour with the blood test results, but 2 hrs later we had to call them. They apologized for forgetting to call and told us there was an issue with the kidneys;

3. When we showed up to pickup the medication they expected us to pay for it without giving us an explanation as to what was going on with the kidneys so we asked to speak with the Vet;

4. The Vet wasn’t there so a technician explained things to us, but he couldn’t explain how advanced the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) was, if she had high blood pressure or if the thyroid was also an issue. We had asked about her thyroid but were told it wasn’t tested. We left with more questions than answers; and

5. Special food was needed and an order was placed. We never received an update and when we called for an update they had no idea when the food would arrive. As a result, we called multiple vets to get food and some Vets would not sell it to us because we weren’t their client

Two weeks later we took our cat back for a second exam as she started losing large patches of fur and her ears were still bothering her.

Here’s a synopsis of that visit:

1. The first thing we noticed was the special cat food needed for CKD was stocked on the shelves. We never did get a call or an update;

2. The exam revealed our cat had a fungal infection in the ears that had now spread to the skin causing fur to fall out;

3. Once again we dealt with the technician only to find out the Vet was sitting in the back. He only came into the examination room because the technician didn’t know how to warm up the UV lamp used to confirm the fungal infection;

4. Since our cat’s ears were not examined during the first visit it resulted in additional tests, costs and stress on our cat (8 drops twice a day in each ear and on the patches on her body) ; and

5. A sample of the fungus was taken to confirm its type. We were asked to call back in a week for the results and when we did we were told the Vet would call us. That call never came.

Following our second visit we asked for a copy of the bloodwork and the response from the male receptionist was “here we go”. We only asked for a copy so we could research things on our own due to the inadequate explanations we received.

After careful consideration we asked another veterinarian to request the transfer our cat’s file to their office. No one from the Blackburn Animal Hospital called us to ask why we were leaving.

Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience and felt the level of care our cat deserved was never received. We’re not sure what’s happened, but the care and thoroughness we were used to has faded.

Blackburn Animal Hospital has seen our dog a few times in last month on an urgent basis, always fitting us in same day. Staff are very friendly and Dr. Mobarak is very thorough and takes the time to explain issues and options available. Ahmad typically follows up next day with call to check in also. Would highly recommend this location

If you’re looking to find a vet that cares about animals this is the place for you. I adopted a 10-year-old Chihuahua from a shelter who had heart problems liver problems high blood pressure problems and thyroid problems. Now he’s not coughing and doing so well. They take good care of their patients and it reassured me. Dr. Mobarak is so sweet he asked how my mom was (she’s 83) and greets my dog like it his own. The front team is so helpful and personable. I enjoy going and know that I won’t be greeted with unfriendly attitudes which I’ve experienced a lot. A lady sitting beside me was so stressed and worried for her dogs urgent condition but her own vet would not see her in a timely fashion but Blackburn helped her when she was in need. Seriously these guys rock!

The vet and whole team here are so kind and loving with our animals. My anxious cat has been treated gently and I've even been offered a handknit blanket while waiting during a procedure!

Love their amazing team! My dogs enjoy their first visit today and I’ll definitely have them as my long term vet from now on. Also booking online is super convenient and the waiting time is only about 3mins

My chinchillas needed to see a vet as one was
starting to drool, and every vet was fully booked everywhere near by. They were more than happy to see my little guys. The Dr. Knew exactly what was wrong right away, and they were very supportive and understanding. I have taken my little guys many times to the vet and they never knew what was wrong whenever they had an issue, so this experience was fabulous! I highly recommend Blackburn animal hospital. They are very kind, welcoming, caring, and great with exotic animals! I'm happy to make the long drive to this clinic. I know my little guys are in good hands!

I would leave 10 stars if I could! Blackburn Animal Hospital was able to see my cat when our regular vet did not return my calls. They went above and beyond to take care of her in her time of need, and less than 24 hours later she is back to her old self and on her way to recovery. I couldn't be happier with the kind, compassionate care and service we received. You can tell the staff here really care. Thank you all again for taking care of my special girl, I am forever grateful and a client for life. ️

Very sweet, attentive staff who handled my cat with care and provided honest answers to any questions I had. My cat needed some dental work and we were fit in the next morning. The price for a tooth extraction here is half the cost of another Ottawa vet. However, I would prefer if they wiped down the tables between appointments, especially during covid, as the table was covered in fur when we entered the room. Small issues with paperwork management, such as losing a form we filled out the day prior. I let the vet know that my cat had a chipped canine tooth, and it took him quite some time to find it. If I had not shown him, I don't know if he would find it on his own. The vet also did not check the rest of her teeth, we had to ask him to do so. After her dental work was done, we received really great in-depth instructions for her medication and recovery. After returning home, I realized they forgot to give her collar back (they removed it to perform the surgery)

Yesterday was our first and definitely not last time going here. We had a terrific experience, they promptly responded to what was happening with our dog and took care of her, she was not even nervous there, she was very comfortable and that makes me feel comfortable taking her back there. Fairly priced, friendly, and VERY clean. Rosie gives it 2 dew claws up, she'd give more if she had more.

Excellent Animal Hospital I am amazed on the professionalism and attention given to the owners patients on the moment you walk in the hospital being greeted by two very nice young and professional Medical Assistants at the front and a doctor on arrival. I bought my second Siberian kitten from a well know breeder in Ottawa who is also the doctor to the breeders kittens. I brought my first kitten who is now a big cat to be checked and ensure all vacines were up to date, etc before I brought home a new kitten. I was amazingly attended by two doctors and both doctors checked by big baby carefully, gave her a deworming and made sure she had all her vacines. I truly loved how both doctors took their time and answered all my questions and gave me recommendations how to ensure my cats live a happy and healthy life. I truly recommend this hospital and the doctors. I know I will be returning in 4 weeks for my new kittens check up. THANK YOU BLACKBURN HAMLET ANIMAL HOSPITAL for giving our family a peace of mind that our two Siberian babies who are a member of our family are in good hands and are cared by excellent doctors who care.

Absolutely amazing service! Had to rush in with my bunny and they were extremely accommodating. They were quick to make appointments and clearly cared very much about my pet. Ahmad kept us well informed/updated about everything happening and Dr. Mobarak did an outstanding job! Definitely making these guys our permanent vet.

They are amazing and care for for our pup very well. When the cost of our recent visit added up they were amazing at helping us work out a payment plan so our best friend could get the treatment he needs and deserves right away. I love this vet and so does my puppy they really prove your pets care is the #1 priority.

We brought my daughter's pet hamster in last week after he broke his leg. They were very friendly and helped us out pretty much on the spot. It's tough finding a place that takes animals this small so we're glad we found this place. The little guy is completely recovered and has started running on his wheel again, even though he's a leg short:) Thank you!

I went on their website to book an appointment for my dog due to a paw infection. Their entire website is based around booking appointments online, so that’s what I did. I received a confirmation of my appointment via email. When I arrived for my appointment I was told that they no longer do online booking and that my appointment was never made. I was turned away.

Incredibly unprofessional of them to turn away a confirmed appointment. I even showed them my appointment confirmation.

Maybe they should update their website to avoid people showing up without real appointments.

I went in for a nail trim for my rabbit, the male receptionist was quite rude, they clipped my rabbits quick without full consultation and then charged me for medication for infection that may or may not have been there, only after clipping the quick did he say to me there may have been an infection. Not happy with how my rabbit was handeled either, very aggressive.

Great staff! They were really kind, skilled and really helped my cat. Best service we ever had! They took me without appointment at an inconvenient time for time and they made me feel like I had an appointment scheduled months ago. Definitely recommend!

So disappointed. Did full blood work and scans and put on some medication for my dog's high blood pressure. Cost a nice (but reasonable) sum of money. On my way out of my satisfied initial visit the vet pleaded for me to return in 10 days to remeasure the BP at no cost to ensure meds were working.unfortunately they didn't and a higher dose needed (no problem). Problem is having to pay for a consult AND BP measurement when was assured I wouldn't be. I wouldn't have even minded paying the consult fee (even though i would still have felt misled) however paying for the BP measurement was a result a direct lie with no grey area to argue. Difficult to trust. Again, strongly disappointed. Vets responce was to give me a free measure in two months? ! Really? Is that the empty promise that rolls off his tongue all the time? Guess I should have gotten his promise in writing or recorded it.i wouldn't have to be looking for a new vet now. In addition, the vet had his mask down not covering his mouth at both visits. I regret not asking him to properly wear it while treating my dog. Although, this is something that shouldn't have to be requested. The dishonesty is too obvious and repulsive to ignore.

Our 2.5 year old Minpin Pup was seriously injured by a hit and run in Quebec, After stabilizing her it was clear she needed surgery to have a chance at a higher quality of life; the moment I called and spoke to Lauren her soothing compassionate voice led to a quick
appointment with Dr. M and subsequent successful surgery. The entire team at this hospital is extraordinary, they sincerely aim for their best every time, are honest, and professional. Thank you Lauren, & of course Dr. M and the whole team for fixing up our baby with such professionalism and care. I highly recommend this Veterinarian.

Dr. Patel and the team are always kind and it’s obvious that they really do care about our furry friends.

He was also able to diagnose and solve an issue my cat was having for almost 2 years on my first visit with the cat.

We got our butters (Scottish fold) at the age of 3 months. Stephanie is an incredibly sweet and caring RVT who treats the animals as her own and speaks to the customers like family. The Vet we had was fantastic and very sweet. I will always recommend this place to anyone.

Very friendly clinic with nonjudgemental staff. I found myself unexpectedly changing living scenarios years back and couldn't afford yearly vet visits for my cat until recently, and they completely understood.

They offer a breakdown of the prices of any tests before they do them, allowing you to see if you can afford it beforehand instead of just sticking you with the pricetag after.

I also adore that you can book appointments online.

This is our go to place for our animals. They are friendly, knowledgeable and are reasonably priced. They listen to the owners and care. What I loved was they give you options and dont arbitrarily offer tests without explaining the potential benefits. Great place.also saved my cats life.

Dr. Patel is great! Will explain shit to you - literally (poop). You can tell he cares about pets a lot. Very professional and friendly with our possibly pregnant, stinky garbage kitten. Appointments available pretty short notice, and rates are decent.

Despite us calling for an appointment on short notice, Dr. Patel and his team managed to squeeze our appointment into their schedule. They were very caring and thorough with our two pets; Lola and Garu. Providing the best veterinary service I've experienced! He explained everything greatly, and they were all very patient with Lola when she was being very jumpy. Overall, and amazing experience, thank you Dr. Patel, Sasha and Melanie!
