Great Hakka cuisine. The lunch special is a good portion for a great price. Can’t beat the chili chicken. Always recommend this place if you enjoy Indian/Chinese/Hakka food when in Guelph.
This experience was extremely disappointing and concerning. We had previously visited this restaurant several times before and the food was of much better quality. However, during this recent visit, we were served with food that was not cooked properly, even the samosa was still frozen. We look forward to seeing improvements in the food quality at Bluchopstix.
We ate second time here yesterday on 7th October the food was good as always but service had a big issue Someone whose known to the owner and chef came to eat with his family and chef himself came to meet him and also offered couple of complimentary/on the house item to them that’s not the problem but actual problem started from there. The chef himself and both the servers became so much occupied in serving that family that they almost forgot us and other guests eating. We had to wait a long time before they prepare our food and serve even though we ordered before that family. I hope the owner/chef understands that even though they serve Indian food here but it is not India this is Canada and they should honour Canadian values of giving equal respect to all the guests and also those guests should understand it too that this is their business place and they can keep personal relationships out of their business. I hope they learn from this. I am not going again if this is the way guests are treated even though the food was great because there are so many other options.
We ordered take out general takeout s chicken, battered deep fried shrimp and vegetable spring rolls-all of it was inedible. It he chicken was hidden in a soupy black tar sauce, the shrimp was not battered and covered with curried vegetables and the spring rolls were similar to what you get from the freezer section at the grocery store. We will never go back!
I'm afraid I'm going to have to change my 5 stars to 2. The food is still very good but the service has gotten worse every time I've gone. It takes a very long time to be seated and even longer to have your order taken. It will take you well over an hour from the time you enter to the time you leave if you're dining in.
Edit: Customer service is much better and the food comes out very fast! The food is delicious as always, much better than it was!
Worst food for the money shrimp was though as leather and cold. Spring rolls where greasy and cold. Sweet and sour chicken (and not sure if it was chicken it tasted alot like pork) was though and cold. The price for my dinner was way to high at 65 dollars, and it took a hour and a half to get to my place. Save your money and find somewhere else to order.
I went to the restaurant with my friends for dinner. It was awesome experience and taste was mouthwatering. Also, the best dish is Chicken Lolipop. All the food was fresh and we can also modify the taste. Im often visit it now and they are also updating the ambience day by day for consumers. The best Chinese Hakka restaurant in GTA area.
Overall a very amazing experience me and my friends had. The food has an authentic Indian taste that reminds me of my home country. I will recommend it to others.
These guys are getting sloppy. They have and know they have defective lids for their soup and still packed it up for me for takeout. Of course the lid popped off during the drive home and the soup spilled everywhere. Even $2 scotch tape could solve their issue but they’re lacking common sense. There aren’t many Hakka options in Guelph but I’d rather make the drive to Brampton going forward
Couple of day I have orderd the food for takeout. All the meal was very good paked with cutlery. And the contitiy is very good defined the price. We ate the food after hours still it was hot and fresh. I think it is the best Chinese hakka restaurant.
I have ordered food once or twice every month, so I am not new to this place. With that being said not only they have started half filling the containers, which is not the point here but still something to note, but a piece of metal in the food this not acceptable at all, this could have lead to something worse. This not the first time they have messed up, one of the last time they used stale oil for the noodles and I had to throw them out. Not worth ordering anymore.
The best place for Chinese food lovers and day by day they are improving their facilities and increasing number of authentic dishes, I’m still waiting for Royal Biryani and Ice cream as chef told me
Today had an amazing chicken lollypop.it was delicious.green chutney served with lollypop is awesome.also had Tandoori chicken rice.it has good quantity enough for 2 people.overall it was great dinner. It reminds me of old days of india. Thank you for having me.
My favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is hygienic and good in taste. They have both dine-in and delivery. They have a wide variety if starters and main course and not heavy on pocket like othe fine dines. Tasty food, good ambience, both veg and non-veg available, good sea food. Love chicken Lollipop.
Great Food, Prices and Quantity. Not 5 stars only because Dine-in service was slow, long wait to order our food, long wait for takeout containers and pay. If you're ordering for pick up or delivery you can't go wrong
Experience the best Thai and chinese food. I ordered Corn soup and Mango Salad; really delicious. Tried chillie chicken gravy and Schezwan fried rice; really good. Felt like one of the best place to have delicious food with reasonable price. Will come here again.
Food was okay but the portion sizes are too small for the prices they are charging. Got a Manchurian chicken with gravy, and there was about 5 chunks of chicken with gravy the consistency of literal water for $15…really low standard compared to GTA Hakka.
Messed up order. Ordered a Manchurian chicken lunch special with large soup. They gave me a regular size machuriam chicken and a large soups and charged me accordingly. He did not even acknowledge the error it was made. The food is decent here but would not survive if it was in the GTA. The person infront of me was also upset becuase of a screwed up order and did not even apologized for it. The size of a large soup is for refence and it is pricey for it.
Great service and delicious food. I have tried Hakka Noodles, Chicken Manchurian Soup and Fish Pakoda all the dishes are of top quality and great value for money.
I ordered on a whim last night, and wasn’t disappointed! The food was delicious and still hot, even after delivery. I look forward to my next visit so I can try more of the menu!
I left my previous review from earlier on 2021 below; however i can not support any business that is full participation of turning this country into a communist country- infringing & desecrating on our Canadian Bill of rights & Freedoms.
Food is absolutely amazing, great customer services, the Hakka food is the the best in Guelph city the surrounding areas of Waterloo Region. I recommend you check this place out….
Tried this place for the first time yesterday, since it's the only Hakka joint in town.
All I gotta say is.their sweet and sour / lemon chicken balls are the best I've ever had. Not a little cube of chicken surrounded by an inch of batter. They are juicy as hell and flavourful with a thin crispy batter.totally worth going back for time and time again. The green curry and Hakka chowmein noodles are also very good.
Just try the chicken balls.you won't be dissapointed
In general the food is good if you know what to get. As for a constructive criticism, my advice to the owner is to go one extra step in maintaining the place, for example a new paint job will not cost much but will make the place look more fresh/clean or at least few paint touch ups to cover few scratches and maybe few runners on the floor. Also a simple smile to the clients will make everyone happier. Thank you.
Food was delicious We ordered Garlic Manchurian chicken, chicken Hakka noodles, paneer chilli, and Manchurian soup. Each and every thing was delicious feels like real Indian Hakka taste … so so good and Meet who was serving us was very polite and nice. Must try if you are real Hakka Chinese food fan.
Quite average if you are used to good flavourful restaurants like the ones in the GTA.not terrible but not great so keep that in mind.lollipop chicken was good, i would not recommend crispy beef and chicken and veggies was okay if you do not like any spice.
I don't have much of a choice to go else where since this is the only Halal Chinese joint in Guelph. Their food is good taste wise but I think they can add some more meat in their dishes for example Hot n Sour soup had less chicken and more egg in the take out i did. I am sure they xan come up with some more and better dinner and lunch deals. Overall food is good. Thank you
I really loved the ambiance of the restaurant, the food quality is good and of course, the food is super delicious and very tempting. I like their lunch special option which is definitely enough for a single person to eat. The staff including the owner are very friendly. I recommend others to definitely try this place.
Ordered takeaway, 2 stars are for preparation time and the reception service. Food was bland in taste and no way near to hakka. I hope they improve their quality.
I’ve been to Blue Chopstix many times and have always orders Pad Thai, I loved it here! I’m not sure if they’ve changed management or they just made the order differently this time, but the Pad Thai we bought tonight was horrible. Given, we did go later at night so maybe they gave us the last bit they had left.but It was dry, the noodles were hard to bite and there was no sauce on the noodles. I didn’t even want to eat it. Was debating on getting some Pad Thai sauce from the grocery store to put on it but didn’t think it would work. Very disappointed because we always loved going here to get noodles.
Portions are good size. Chicken wings are great. Hakka chowmein is not bad but it could be more hakka. Hot and sour soup is terrible, probably the worst I’ve had so don’t order it. I will go back to try other stuff on their menu.
The food is great, and definitely very fresh, but I was disappointed by how spicy they made it even after repeatedly requesting them to make the dishes mild, and their repeated assurances that they will. Two dishes were fine, but the noodles had countless minced chillies my family couldn’t even pick out. We had to throw that dish away.
I will still be back because the food is by far the best Hakka in town, but I’d request that they please take their customer’s request to make the food mild, seriously. Some of us have health conditions and cannot have chillies. If a dish cannot be made mild, that’s fine, but please be clear about it. Don’t agree to make it mild and then not follow through!
Halal meat means that they aren't serving dubious quality and unethically treated tortured animals. There is a lengthy process of certification and oversight involved. I know some of my Christian university professors buy halal meat over regular meat for this reason as well. I highly recommend this place over any other Chinese restaurant in the area.
Went here for lunch today, got the special, with spicy garlic chicken and sweet / sour soup, and the spring roles. The soup was gooey and bland, the chicken chewy and also bland, the rice was meh, and the spring roles were flavourless. At least the service was prompt.
