Mediocre food and bad service. As much as I want to support a small business, the lady working here is rude and doesn't know how to provide quality customer service. Won't be coming back here.
I heard so much about this place, but its really run down. The toilets did not work. The place was a mess. As for the food, I had smoked meat poutine which was a disaster. The price for it was 13.95, when I went to pay for it she rang it up as 18.75, I looked at her and she turned away. Sad.
Went for breakfast past 11 and could only order one breakfast item on the menu with no subs and it was a very big breakfast. When I asked the servant was rude and blamed her boss.
Hate to knock a local small business, but.cockroaches. I'll never go there again. I've been twice and the food is decent for standard eggs and greasy spoon food. The vibe and the service is not very clean and not very fancy, but I didn't have any major objections.
But. While we were eating some customers came storming out of the kitchen yelling about cockroaches. It was a little unsettling but we weren't sure if it was some kind of personal thing or altercation or a person who was a little out of it. And you know what? I've travelled and eaten in restaurants in different places and bugs are sometimes just a reality with kitchens. But after we had finished our meal, a cockroach crawled out on our table from somewhere (not our food I hope!?) and onto my friend. We were at the front of the restaurant, nowhere near the kitchen so if there are cockroaches crawling around out there, who knows what the kitchen looks like.
The server was apologetic and comp'ed our meal which I guess is the right thing to do, but I certainly will never go back and don't recommend that you go either: (
Omelette was very average if not tasteless. I have been going here for years and really enjoyed it. But they are slipping. I do not eat home fries or toast and they do not offer any substitutes. Not even a tomato or something. Sad to have this neighborhood icon going down hill. Not sure why.
Located in Vanier, The lady thats normally there has a heart of gold super nice and helpful and food is beyond delicious and also excellent pricing and value, even breakfast menu is amazing.
If you can’t tell, that’s an omelet in the picture. Nothing like a nice burnt omelet. 2 stars because the toast isn’t burnt. Just got this on 23 October 2022. Will not be returning.
This is one of those places where you’re not just going for the food, but you’re there for the atmosphere, experience and to interact with their friendly staff!
Awesome spot for breakfast, and taking home a slice of pie:)
Once a reliable Ottawa-Vanier staple noted as much for its community spirit as it was for its short order cookery, my post pandemic visit universally disappointed in every category. Whike the ambiance was never worth mentioning, table formerly was always friendly and accommodating. It was neither on this recent visit. I was greeted with a firm warning that breakfast orders placed would have a 15 to 20 minute wait, which prior loyslty
Honestly not sure what happened to this place, used to be clean, and have good diner fare. Now it's dirty, cluttered, smells and the food is lackluster at best.
So if you are looking for trendy, cool this is not your place. However if you are looking for a very small restaurant with great food at an amazing price, this is your place. I had their Eggs Benedict they were delicious. The home fries are pretty plain but very tasty. Service was great. I look forward to going again. If they were to add French toast or pancakes to the menu. I would have given them 4 stars. Clean the floors a bit better, de clutter, a bit of paint add some old 50’s record albums/ event posters to the walls and you have a 5 star retro restaurant!
