I had dinner here recently. The food here is very good. I had the bouillabaisse which was delicious. Service was excellent. This place doesn't look like much from the outside but it's a real gem. I'd highly recommend this restaurant.
I love the intimate atmosphere of this place. I enjoyed both my visits and the food was excellent and fresh each time. Reasonable wine bottle prices too.
The restaurant is pretty small and dark. The waitress was very nice and attentive though. We finally tried frog legs, which we couldn’t get twice in Chicago. The menu is pretty limited but anyone can find something for themselves here. The main dishes are really good, and the portions are manageable. The fish here is absolutely amazing, very fresh. Their alcoholic drinks are pretty good too.
Great service here all around. The food is done quick and with care and the service staff has just as much attention care. Just go you won't regret it.
Wow! Best restaurant I've been to in Hamilton. Would recommend the frog legs, brussel sprouts, bouillabaise, and duck confit. $120 for 2 people on Thursdays includes 2 apps/2 mains/2 wine.
One of the best restaurants in Hamilton period. Very unique menu plus nice selection of drinks. Dave is owner is very inviting and generous. Tried this place more than 20 times over the last few years. Excellent again and again
It's a great place for special occasion with your family & friends. I really love their cocktails and their seafood pasta (special of the day) Their oysters were on sale on Monday for $2 each, which was nice. Snails were good but a bit overpriced. Desserts were good. However, I would say their Bouillabaisse was not very good. The soup didn't have enough seafood and fish taste in it. With $42, I would expect more seafood and larger quantity. I will still be back here since it's still a good restaurant, but I think the restaurant can still have some improvement for some items on their menu.
Always love Bon Temps for the intimate atmosphere, personal care shown to patrons, and consistently delicious French food. The wine selection is also a treat. Perfect for date night, friendly catch-up, or chic solo dining.
We did the Christmas dinner special as were were flying out at 2 am and didn’t want all the chaos in the kitchen home. The meal we received was exceptional. Very happy we chose to go with the pies as as option too.
Bon Temps is a little French restaurant with a really great ambiance. It was really cool that the kitchen was out in the open so that you can see the food being prepared. The service was excellent, even on a busy night (Valentine’s Day). Drinks were yummy, but the food was just okay in my opinion. However, I had the vegan options/modifier, and this isn’t a vegan restaurant. I’d give it another go.
This is definitely a spot I’d recommend ensuring you have a reservation in advance due to the select seating. Vegan and gluten free options available.
This place is a veritable oasis of french inspired fine dining in a sprawling and desolate food desert. If you're going to eat at one place in this city before you run back to your cookie cutter suburb or icebox condo building and tell all your friends how scary the downtown of Hamilton is, this must be the place.
Work up an appetite as you dodge the flailing arms of street lunatics, navigate the graffiti laden storefronts and postindustrial urban decay to the sound of car alarms, faint gunshots and police sirens on route to dine at Bon Temps – where the food puts the cuisine at Toronto's bougiest restaurants to shame.
Experience expertly made cocktails to accompany thoughtfully prepared classics that are bursting with nuance and flavour such as duck confit, and braised beef. Try new inventions like lobster thermador fondue, served with the kind of polite understatement you just won't find in the safety of the strip mall restaurants where you usually sedate yourself.
Expect to spend $200+ on a 3 course meal and drinks for two. No need to worry about getting mugged on your way back to the GO station – your wallet may be empty but your stomach (and maybe, your heart) will be full.
First time visiting Bon Temps, and will definitely return.our dinners were amazing, our server Ryan made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. The menu has so many great options.heirloom salad, crispy frog legs, steak frites, duck and I highly recommend the creme brulee and coffee to finish off a great dining experience.
Found this cute little spot on Trip Advisor. Restaurant totally lives up to the reviews. Luckily, we were there for date night. Had two drinks and four choices. Everything was fabulous! Service excellent, chefs terrific! Don’t miss this gem!
My wife and I went for our 4 year wedding anniversary, and I can confidently say that this is the best “fancy” restaurant I have been to in a very long time, and possibly the best restaurant we’ve been to in Hamilton.
Although you pay a premium, the quality and quantity of the food is well, well worth it.
This was my first visit to this restaurant. I don’t think I will go there again. The staff was friendly and helpful. The menu was very small it did not have even half of the dishes they advertise, the food was NOT good. I’ve got a 6 ounce steak that was smaller than 4 ounces and it was served with just roasted potatoes no other vegetables or even a salad and the price was over $40. The cheese charcuterie was 6/1oz pieces of cheese with with a couple of homemade jams …. The price of $30. The rest of the group got fish and duck…not the best. Maybe a different times they have had better food but I will not go back to this restaurant! The food was not tasty and very expensive. Sorry
A Slight DISAPPOINTING experience for me. Visited on Oct 23 after seeing great reviews, I had high expectations.
Service: The staff did an okay job. I didn't feel particularly welcomed. We made a reservation for the high table (only option available on opentable) and upon arrival I asked if we could sit at the bar, unfortunately they were all spoken for however the lady staff at the bar was not very pleasant to speak to. (Came off as a little rude.) When we asked for a half portion Charcuterie board the staff was accomodating.
Throughout the night we had to seek the staff for service as they were not attending to our table regularly. Food came out at a slower pace than I expected.
Food: The Menu was priced higher than I expected, given it is located in Hamilton. The prices were comparable to Downtown Toronto's Fine Dining options. $4 oysters is certainly priced equivalent to Sofia in Yorkville, $42 Duck Breast I thought the food was good but not amazing, definitely not worth the price. Bon Temps is priced about 30% higher than they should be. Perhaps Hamilton locals are willing to pay the price premium because there's a lack of choice for modern French but this place won't survive in Toronto with this level of quality, service offered at this price.
The ventilation was horrible. It is an open kitchen and the fan was not powerful enough to take out the smoke. During out dinner my eyes were tearing from smoke and we came out of the restaurant smelling like food.
I think with minor changes they can turn this place around for a better experience.
Please replace the kitchen ventilation system to a much powerful one.
We had a lovely evening in this cozy little place. The oysters were perfect, our apps and mains were so flavourful - couldn't ask for anything more. We had the lobster wontons, duck breast, vol au vent and bouillabaisse. Duck breast was the clear winner of the evening. Can't wait to return for the creme brulee!
My only "complaint" was that the vol au vent's pastry was soggy by the time I got it from the delicious jus/sauce that it had but it was still a delicious dish and was content with it!
This was our second time here! The menu changes and I love that so much. Something new to try every time! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants. We had the duck breast and soft shell crab this time.
My husband and I had our family (16 people) for a wedding dinner celebration at Bon Temps and we had such a wonderful experience! It was easy to plan everything with Dave, and the food was delicious. We had charcuterie appetizers, salad, the tofu and lobster wontons. I had the Vegan Vadouvan and my husband had the Parisienne Gnocchi for our main meals – it was all delicious. Our guests had a lovely time, and everyone raved about the food for days! It is the perfect spot for a private dinner or a party/celebration of any sort. The space has a great atmosphere, and the staff were so lovely. We can’t wait to return! Thank you Dave and your team for such a wonderful experience for us.
I came to this restaurant in December 2021, I never left a review. But let me tell you, there is not day that goes by that I do not think about the gnocchi I had here. Thank you Bon Temps for ruining all other gnocchi I've had since. Every time I ordered a gnocchi dish, I compared it to the one you make. This will be the only place I will ever order gnocchi again. Please leave that dish on your menu, forever and ever.
Excellent dinner here! After reading the reviews, I decided on this place to surprise my husband on our anniversary. And it did not disappoint at all. Friendly service and the food is right as it should be. Super flavourful well cooked French cuisine. You don’t say this place is what it is from the outside at all. Definitely a hidden gem and totally underrated. We loved everything we ordered and left very satisfied and thinking of coming back!
After driving by this restaurant for quite some we decided it was time to give it a try, especially since it was my partner’s birthday
We ordered drinks and received very fresh and hot bread with a herbed butter, delicious!
Then we had the Lobster? Thermador Wontons. They were sadly disappointing, very awkward to eat and wasn’t very seasoned.
My partner ordered the Black Cod and he enjoyed it very much. It was cooked to perfection with a crispy skin and a wonderful sauce. I had the Steak & Frites and unfortunately they decided to slice it themselves, something I’m just not a fan of. The sauce was very tasty, but the shoe string fries were underwhelming at best though the shaved Parmigiana Regianno was delightful.
Huge shout out to our server who was attentive and delightful. I want to also thank the restaurant for the surprise decadent chocolate cake served with a candle, what a perfect ending to a wonderful evening!
Meal was delicious! I ordered many items from the menu and the truffle potato was the best I have ever had! (It came with the duck) The ambieance is great and the staff are exceptional
We just finished a wonderful NYE meal here. We somehow missed the prix fixe menu when booking, and the staff went above and beyond to make the meal work for a couple of pescatarians (and did so with a smile). Absolutely fantastic service and delicious food to match - we will certainly be back!
I think this restaurant is serving up some of the tastiest food in Hamilton right now.and that’s saying a lot! Every dish we’ve had (we’ve been there 2 weekends in a row) has been delicious. The duck is the best, super rich. Also, great cocktail menu, apparently soon to be expanding. Highly recommend, one of our new favourites.
Had a wonderful midnight snack here with my gf. Food was cooked with skill and the duck breasts were some of the best I‘ve ever had.felt so cozy here.merci:)
Honestly one of the best new spots in Hamilton - amazing cocktails, thoughtful service and a creative menu that is unlike any of the other spots in the city. Excited to see what great things come from this incredible team.
What a cozy little spot with friendly staff. We started the night with some cocktails, then wine. We enjoyed the cheese appetizer along with salad then shared the cod and duck. Wow, flavour explosion! I'd recommend this place for date night or dinner with friends.
Great vibe. Great food. Great service! Really enjoyed dinner here with friends. The shareable plates approach is fun and allows you to try many different options. Definitely worth a visit!
Absolutely lovely establishment. Everything on the menu is meticulously crafted, the cocktails are delicious, and the staff is incredibly friendly. If you're looking for a nice night out you'll be happy you chose to come here.
Had the opportunity to eat at Bon Temps for their "soft" opening and was very impressed. This is in the old Rapscallion space and I'll tell you, as much as I liked that place, I won't be missing it! For this being open for less than an hour, the drinks were on point, ambience was super chic, and the food was very tasty. Bartender made a great Old Fashioned and the Venison, Duck and Salmon was killer. A welcomed addition to the Hamilton dining scene!
