Borealis Grille & Bar (Guelph)

Like many of the other reviews, I found the food pretty bland. The garden salad was quite good but overall both mains weren't well seasoned. The ingredients appear to be good quality, and presentation was nice. However, I'd much prefer a tasty meal over a pretty one.

The atmosphere and lighting felt very sterile, more like a classic roadside diner.

I wouldn't come back.

I try to come here at least once every other month. Food is super delicious, regardless of what you get. Portion sizes are generous. I highly recommend the poutine as a shared appetizer!

Service was exceptionally attentive and pleasant. I love the atmosphere of the place, both barside and dining room.

Can't feel guilty about eating out when so many aspects of Borealis are beneficial to the local economy and environment!

This is one of those places that you really can't go wrong with. All the food in options are sourced locally in Ontario, the supporting farmers and growers in our region. The tasting the flavour of this organization is phenomenal, the staff was very helpful and friendly, and the ambiance was wonderful

Fantastic experience. It was always something that I wanted to try so invited a few friends in town. Service was great and the staff was helpful.

First time in Ontario and I wanted to sample the local cuisine. Chose the seared trout, and what can I say? I'll be dreaming about that dish until my next trip out this way.

The whole thing was so well balanced and really played up that amazing trout. So fresh and light.

The servings were the perfect size, and well priced.

The staff was just as good as the food. Friendly, good at reading customers, and dealt with an error with someone else's meal with sincere apologies and genuine willingness to make it right.

This place is phenomenal. An instant area favourite for me.

We came for dinner after a long day of travel and were so happy with our experience. Our server was wonderful - responsive, helpful, and generally great at her job. The kale salad was good, if a little basic, and the duck skewers were perfect, tender with a little char. My husband loved his sandwich and raved about the fries. The strawberry basil lemonade was refreshing and had lots of fruit. We'll definitely stop back if we want to eat out in Guelph!

Waitress seemed to forget about us. Asked Bartender for refreshments. Laid menus as accustomed and returned 29 mins later. Decided not to order further.

Me and my husband have been coming here for years and never have had any complaints. The food is always good and the prices are reasonable compared to everywhere else. The fried chicken here is also the best in town.

Great local independent restaurant when you inevitability try to avoid the chain restaurants plaguing the city. Great food and friendly service. Never a bad visit.

Lovely food. Wait staff very good. One of the few places I've been to where the fries are not gluten free. Big disappointment for my husband. That should be addressed.

Lovely to be served so well, with fresh beer, a very fine falafel salad, and a pleasant afternoon setting.

Unique & tasty! All in our group enjoyed their food and drinks and would return! Vegetarian, pescetarian and meat options. Local/regional offerings. Clean facility and great patio with lots of space! Also it's pretty convenient to get back to highway 401 without going through the city.

I was so delighted to find a sour beer on tap! The food was better than excellent and when you consider the price, it can't be beat. Our server was friendly and efficient. There is a window into the kitchen and the kids thought it was really neat that the chefs waved to them. Definitely a great place, I'll recommend and I'll be back.

Amazing service, order came to table in perfect timing. Taste of the food was melting in your mouth.

We've been to the Borealis in Kitchener, but this was our first visit to Guelph.
The food was fantastic and service was excellent. Our dinner on the patio was interrupted by a summer storm, and the staff was monitoring the radar and started to move us indoors just as the rain started.
The Borealis Grille restaurants are great, but this visit stands out as something unique. And delicious.

Good food, good service. I had the steak and frits. Well made. My friends enjoyed their drinks. Good place for sure.

I have been to Borealis several times. The last visit was during the pandemic and I appreciated the care taken by the staff to keep customers safe. The service is always excellent and the food extremely good. I had the veggie taco (x3). They were made with chickpea falafels, pickled onions, lettuce, cilantro sour cream, goat cheese. The ingredients felt fresh and quality. It was a very tasty and moreinsh experience. I would definitely recommend Borealis Grille & Bar, Guelph, to friends and family.

I went to lunch with a friend on their patio. The patio was great and the service was good. My low rating was due to the food. I had chicken wings with a couple of carrot and 1 celery sticks. They only had Blue Cheese dip for the vegetable sticks and no alternative. I hate Blue Cheese. They only had 1 choice of dipping for the chicken wings which I also didn't like. Most restaurants have 2 choices for wing sauce and dipping for veggies. I don't think it is due to cutting costs due to Pandemic losses as I remember having similar problems a few years ago when I ate there before. For the price I don't think it was good value for money.

Service was great although the wait for our food was longer than expected, delicious apps and fried chicken, the side fries and coleslaw was a little underwhelming, although we appreciated it being all locally sourced! We will definitely be back.

The burgers were a hit, the 2 piece chicken was a winner, fish and chips "out of the park". Cheesecake mouse completely unnecessary and delicious. Drinks, coffee and we were done. A great couple of hours with great food and drink and wonderful company. 0.25% taken off for the weather!

The date night deal has good value and delicious flavors to choose from. The $20 bottle of wine was ok too

Great lunch, fast service, support local! A bit pricey for what you get (!), nice atmosphere. Only issue was on the quinoa salad - we couldn't find it! And since it was the first word in the name of the salad, we had to ask for more to be satisfied. Which they brought. Thanks:)
