Bowmanville Creek Retirement Community

I have been playing Gospel music almost every other Wednesday night at Bowmanville Creek since around 2018. I have found the staff that I have interacted with to be very friendly, courteous and helpful to me. I can tell that the program manager, front desk people and the nurse all care deeply for the residents. These are people I have seen at work during my evening times there. The residents - particularly my regular audience - all seem very happy with their home.

My experience teaching watercolours at the retirement home has been great. The participants of my class are always very happy and enjoy the projects that I bring for them. The space is very nice and clean. The front desk attendants and the program coordinator are amazing. In the picture you can see one of the projects the class participants painted.

Thank you for making this transition for my Mom a smooth one. She is LOVING her new home. The staff are all so pleasant and go out of their way to help you feel comfortable. Very spacious suites, good food, clean and bright. Mom is happy to be there!

Chartwell Bowmanville is a lovely, welcoming and warm place. As a community partner, I am in Chartwell Bowmanville often. I see how happy the residents are, and the staff seem to go above and beyond. Working directly with Shelby, she is very accommodating, friendly, and it is very obvious that she is a wonderful team member. The overall feeling of Chartwell Bowmanville is very comforting.

My parents love this place! The staff are incredible. Within 24 hours of being there, it seems all members of of community knew my parents and with 48 hours, they all knew me as well. I'm very happy we choose this place for their new home. For Chris Broome, who left the one star review after finding my dad and bringing him home, I am so grateful for your kindness when my dad asked you for help. The fault does not lie with Chartwell. I had walked his route many times, with him leading the way. I thought he could try it on his own, but I was wrong. Chartwell does not provide memory care, but we are hoping dad will not try again as he loves his new home and has no desire to leave. Chartwell and I are coming up with solutions for him. The staff are very caring. I can assure you, the staff are not in it for the money. They love what they do.

What a joke found a resident roaming around downtown confused chartwell didn't care I drove him back home no thank you nothing tell me o he's new what a joke only thing they care about is money I have video and pictures to prove it so you guys can try to lie all the way just sad I feel so bad for the older people because they don't care all about the money to the people running this place there's a special place for people like you

I am happy to be back working at Bowmanville Creek after a year off! Chartwell Bowmanville is a great place to work. Staff members always go above and beyond to provide care to all of our residents!

Also one of the best managements is in our home as well! I have been with Bowmanville Creek since we opened in 2017! Such a great place to work!

I’ve visited family friends many of times and I can honestly say the folks living there seem very happy (always out and about when there) and the staff know everyone by name and seem more like family than anything. Overall, very impressed with what I’ve seen.

For those of you who may be considering a move for your loved ones, it is a big decision and can be overwhelming. I know this because we moved our Mom in 2021 to Chartwell Bowmanville Creek Retirement Residence. While there was an adjustment period, for all of us, we can honestly say, Mom is very happy and it has become "home" for her. Mom appreciates the many different activities that are arranged for the Residents, she speaks very highly of the staff and never hesitates to reach out to them if need be. Mom is safe and secure living at Bowmanville Creek. The staff have been excellent in communicating and resolving any concerns or requests that we have as a family while their main responsibility is in ensuring the safety and comfort of their Residents.

Moved my Dad in there in 2022. It is an amazing facility, food is great, staff are top notch.

I am a Musical Entertainer who performs at various Retirement homes in the GTA and I must admit that Bowmanville Creek is My favourite place to perform; it is one of the few retirement homes that have weekly live entertainment. I always make sure I get there a little early to chat with the many resident that know me. Everyone is always friendly and they always let me know how much they appreciate my performance; looking forward to many more.

Just a block from quaint, downtown Bowmanville, sits Chartwell’s Bowmanville Creek Retirement Residence. It’s a “gem” of a place on a tree-lined street with stately older homes.

The moment you enter the lobby, you get the feeling that you arrived at a luxurious hotel. It has all the trappings including a pool, beauty salon, lounge, bar and lots more.

Equal to its upscale surroundings, is the staff. They are pleasant, professional and very accommodating.

While I am not a resident, every time I visit, I come away with a warm feeling that this is a place I would be glad to call home.

I was quite impressed with the beautiful facilities and the variety of life enrichment activities offered to the residents at this facility. Aunt Mary loves living there and especially enjoys the live music on the Baby Grand in the Dining room, and fun themed music afternoons in the lounge. Family is always welcomed to come join in and Eileen does a great job at planning interesting and fun activities.

Chartwell Bowmanville Creek is a wonderful place to spend your retirement. Staff are caring and the atmosphere is wonderful. Our Band enjoys performing throughout the year and residents are fully engaged, clapping, singing and dancing. We highly recommend Chartwell Bowmanvulle Creek.

Enjoy coming to work every day. The home is always kept with the utmost care. All staff and residents are like family and happy to socialize and participate in activities.

My mother-in-law has lived at Bowmanville Creek for a couple of years and loves it. The staff are very accommodating and the food has improved. It is too bad that the chronic complainers ruin it for other residents.

I used one of the rooms at Bowmanville Creek a few months back for an event. The building is beautiful, clean and the staff are very accommodating.

My Grandmother is here, and like others has complained about the food since she got there. Undercooked, cold and usually not edible. The concerns voiced to management go no where. Food is a big component of care and residents are not getting what they pay for.

My Father was an Original Occupant. He chose Bowmanville Creek over a number of options. He never regretted his Choice. Always spoke highly of the Staff and Management. He particularly enjoyed the Pool.
As his Health deteriorated, I had Occasion to have extensive dealings with Melanie, the General Manager, and Jenalyn, the Wellness Manager. They could have not been more Helpful and Caring. Not only did they provide excellent care for my Father, they helped me navigate the Community Care System.
Our Family has nothing but Positive Things to say about Bowmanville Creek.

It's very costly for the quality of meals provided. Many residents have complained and more just leave their food.

This retirement residence is lovely with great amenities. The staff are kind and caring. Absolutely no complaints regarding the staff who interact daily with the residents. Unfortunately the food quality has gotten worse instead of better. For a few months the residents have complained about the quality and temperature of the food only to be told we’re working on it. Staffing changes in the hospitality department has not made any difference. The servers are so kind and often have to listen to complaints. Staffing levels are often short in either the kitchen or dining room which ultimately affects what is being delivered to the residents. The first 10 months of this residence opening saw great food quality with a varying menu. Some comments from residents were “this is like 5-star dining”. That is no longer the case. This residence has been open for a year and a half. Once the residence population was full to capacity, the quality degraded significantly. Food is often cold or over done. I have even seen where there wasn’t a cup of milk in the residence, causing the staff to run to the store to pick up a few bags of milk. I would think stock levels of staples wouldn’t be a guessing game. The menu is repetitive. With the cost per month the residents pay, the food should be so much better. For many of the residents, meal time is very important. Lip service to the residents is no longer acceptable. Saying we’re working on it is not action. Delivering quality food is action. Let’s make quality a priority for the residents.
