The reception girl is very rude. I asked her about the renewal and she got mad for it. She answered my firstly query in the rudest possible way. Then she didn’t even answer after.

I have a GTA pass (would highly recommend if you travel a lot in between municipalities) and frankly speaking, this is my fav location. Staff is great, I like the layout of the spaces and it’s clean.

It's disappointing to see a lack of badminton slots at the YMCA, with an overwhelming focus on basketball. It would be great if the facility could diversify its offerings to cater to a broader range of interests.

Additionally, I've noticed a distinct lack of involvement from the board of directors when it comes to scheduling and staff supervision. It would be beneficial for them to take a more active role in ensuring a fair and balanced approach for all activities. In the case of badminton, it feels like there's excessive volunteer supervision, which can be frustrating.

I believe there's room for improvement in making the YMCA more inclusive and responsive to the needs of its members. It's essential to maintain a positive and open dialogue to bring about these changes.

My son went to a week of summer camp at this location and on his last day he came home with a whole bumch of bumps marble sized all over his face. We called to talk to the head leader and she (who showed up at 12noon) told us that the other camp councilors said that he got bit at home and his grandma dropped him off like that.

His grandma picked him up from my house (from me) and drove 5 minutes to drop him off looking normal.

In the same conversation she said he got bit at camp. When I called her out on the discrepancy she said she wasnt done talking so I let her finish bit in the end she never clarified the discrepancy.

At the end of the day when my son said he couldn't take the itching anymore they told him its almost home time and to wait 30 min. 30 MINUTESSSSSS? If he was having an allergic reaction he could have DIED in 30 minutes. Not one call to us as the parents but apparently from what the leader told us the camp councilors had time to talk about it amongst themself. And not one mentioned it to us when we picked him up. Now we are at the hospital with him getting him checked out because we have no clue what these marble size bumps are all over his face.

I know its teenagers here at the camp, but I expect them to be trained in how to deal with certain situations. I expect them NOT to ask a child what do you want us to do and at least call the parents to ask. He is a 7 yr old child!

A warning to parents sending your kids here, take a picture of your kid EVERYDAY before dropping them off so you have photo proof and they cannot lie there way out of it.

Im a reasonable parent, things happen sometimes at camp, thats fine, but whats not fine is you ignored the fact the child told you that they were not feeling well and bumps were coming up on there face. Instead of you dealing with it with at least a phone call to us, you want to act as if it was never there.

Even if what they said was true (which it isnt) and he came from home with it, why wouldnt you ask us about it. What if it was contagious? You just exposed all the kids at camp to it! Hopefully it isnt anything too serious and the hospital can find out whats wrong and give him something. I also hope someone higher up at the YMCA sees this review and addresses it because this is very concerning.

The front desk girl is the rudest person alive, I tried renewing my membership to take my kids swimming she first was rude to another member then my turn she would not renew my membership saying they don’t except cash when I’ve been paying cash the last year I love the other lady Ivan but this one is a HORRIBLE PERSON
01 July 2023 13:32
I went on to get membership 2 days back as I wanted my kid to kearn swimming.

Yesterday we went at 3 pm I knew they will close at 4pm, but as soon as we had shower and tried to get into pool the staff said" sorry we are closing at 3: 15 you have 5 mins to be in pool". I understood and we left however today we got to the pool at 12pm and were turned back away saying we have training session for staff.

It is so frustrating even after paying that much money and for 2 days straight you are not able to use the service.
I had cancel my other plans so I can take my kido to swim.

I would appreciate if they could send out emails apprising about maintenance program, training program etc. So that people can do some other activites and don't cancel other plans.

Love this place, I workout here and it's a great place because it's a very small community so you feel very welcomed

Amazing facilities. The gym equipment is above normal standards and is maintained very well regularly. The swimming pool is also impressively big with life guards on duty all the time. There are group classes conducted here as well which one can book using their app.

I got my wallet stolen four times. Everytime I put my wallet in a secure place. Locker locks were broken three times. This time I put my stuff in one of the lock boxes, which was supposed to be safer. The 3 number combination may be easily broken by thefts.
They mention tight access control and security cams always. Don't trust. They don't take any responsibility at all

The Y is a real family-friendly place that feels like a community. The exercise classes are motivating and fun, and the yoga classes help with health and well-being. So many friendly, high-quality instructors. I highly recommend this Y!
28 September 2019 2:55
Very friendly staff and the group classes are great! The instructors really motivate me to push myself to keep going
30 August 2019 7:22
It's a good place to get fit.and sweat! Swimming is my favorite activity!
But of course there's all kinds of of other ways to workout kids activities etc.
25 August 2019 21:08
Clean and not too busy, so you can actually work out for a while. Not too crowded and the atmosphere is relaxed. The classes are great with friendly instructors and lots of time options. I like the slow pace at this gym. Feels like a family place
15 July 2019 17:40
This place is the best option for someone who want to go to the gym with the family. They have so many activities for the whole family. The price to become a member is pretty afordable. I recommend for all families that look for some healthy lifestyle.
09 July 2019 16:37
Aquafit class is awesome- especially on Tuesday night.just wish their childcare aligned better with Aquafit class and that they would notify somehow when the pool is closed (rare)
29 June 2019 9:10
Great Workshops! Barre, Arriba, Line Dancing & Aquafit!
Highly recommended!
Great volunteers and staff. Thanks to make me feel welcome!
24 June 2019 7:17
Nice place! Offers various activities. Basketball, gym, swimming etc. Plus some exercise classes to boot.
14 June 2019 6:14
Great place for the whole family to improve health and fitness. Family pass is great and financial aid is available. Wide variety of scheduled and drop in classes, and child care is available ($2 per child per hour for children 3+). Keep in mind child care schedule changes each season based on staff availability.
07 June 2019 14:58
We bought a family pack but unfortunately there is nothing for children's. You have to buy each activity over and above what you paid for family pack.
20 May 2019 5:03
Great facility. Clean; well-managed; good, efficient layout. Good vibe - always something going on: basketball & clinics, cardio and resistance machines (Precor), free weights, yoga, dance studio, kid's activities.nice diverse crowd of all ages.
09 April 2019 19:04
Kids enjoys using the whole facility. Having the membership at the Ymca allows my kids to be active and be part of a team. Most of the staff interacts with my kids in a positive manner and offer extra guidance to them. There subsidy is great and should be utilized by low income family's for their kids to get the opportunity to enjoy the same activities as those who can afford it. Overall, they try to present a positive outlook in the community by bringing the community closer together.
09 April 2019 12:14
Excellent place for family. Plenty of classes for kids and adults, gym, walking track, personal instructors, swimming pool. I love it all. Very affordable and nice.
08 April 2019 3:25
Some exercise equipment needs to be maintain.i had a life time membership when i first join but they stop honoring life time.some people dont clean exercise machines after use and leaving drinks behind for others to clean.no staff monitors
25 January 2019 7:34
I was a plus member for over a year. Steam Sauna etc are good but gym equipments are few and old and membership is too high for plus area. If you are not paying for plus membership as part of your charitable giving it is not worth it.

I enjoyed my experience.
08 December 2018 16:34
Great Place to meet up with your friends and a great place to play/practice some of your favourite sports
20 October 2018 14:02
Great facility and wonderful staff. The dance programs are amazing, my daughter still enjoying after about 5 years. I highly recommend it.
25 August 2018 19:06
Do not choose this place for your kids summer camp, and I repeat DO NOT, save your money because this place is full of kids with no real experience to take care of kids. First, they have the kids outdoor all day doing their own thing, they hardly get involved, plus they complain about everything. Becca and company needs to learn how to stop smooching all day with each other and pay attention to the kids. Those kids watching kids are very unprofessional and all they do is rub all over the boys who are trying to do the job. If you have an issue there is no one to resolve the issue because all are very unprofessional. The kids they do not like are like animals in their eyes while the kids they like get away with everything. There is nothing special about this place for summer camp, it’s not even worth $0 per day. There are sports, variety, those classes are useless, because kids do their own thing. All around gabbage place and staff makes it even more gabbage

DO NOT CHOOSE THE YMCA AS YOUR DAYCARE!

There is a way better facility up the street at Church and Kennedy in Brampton that treats the kids amazing and shows the parents respect, plus your kids don’t just play all day, they actually LEARN! And you get a daily report that tells you everything your child ate, how many diapers changes and you even get pictures throughout the day! It’s called Mini-Skool: a child’s place. I have a lot of safety concerns with the YMCA daycare facility. Just because I forgot my key pass the director Kristine would not allow any teachers to open the door for me even though my child has been attending the daycare for 6 months now, and they all know who I am. If this was someone who did not know me then I could understand, but she was doing it to be a rude, mean, person. She purposely advised the staff not to open the door for me because I need to learn not to forget my pass which I heard her say through the door when she saw me in the window.as if I’m a child. I have human error and forget things sometimes. I’m a hardworking parent and very tired, pregnant to top it off! Also, when I went to the front desk to complain, they were basically implying that because I’m someone of colour I’m acting aggressive; I have been a business woman since I was 20 years old and know how to conduct myself- I have never been violent and I’m sure their video camera will prove my behaviour was not hostile at all. The fact that they even reacted this was in general makes me feel so unsafe bringing my daughter there knowing they would withhold her from me so easily and I had to pull her out due to my concerns. This is very saddening that I, a PARENT got treated this way while trying to pick up my child after a long day of work. Also, my child’s nose is always dirty as they do not clean her, she has been constantly sick since she started at the daycare including a lung infection, and the facility just recently had whooping cough passing around. They are not very accommodating nutrition wise as my daughter is vegan and if she does not like what they offer her then she will just go without eating, every time I pick her up her diaper is full and she has had 3 diaper rashes since she started. I am very disappointed in the care provided from the YMCA.

This is the response I got a MONTH later:

General Manager:
Good afternoon. I am responding to your concern regarding entry to the Brampton Union Child Care Facility.
I understand it is distressing when passkeys are forgotten. We do not have a door monitor at this site to allow those families entry upon arrival. There is often a lag period until someone is near the front door.
While I understand Kristine’s desk is in the entry facing the door, she is not always at her desk.
I apologize for the inconvenience you experienced. I strongly encourage you to ensure you have your pass key with you to avoid waiting for the door to be opened.
This is a relatively new system (about a year now) so it does require a change in routine so that the pass key is with you when you arrive.
Once again I do apologize for the inconvenience. The best solution is to have your pass key with you.
Thank you

OBVIOUSLY THE YMCA ASSUMES AND DOES NOT INVESTIGATE - they protect employees before parents. She was sitting at her desk with 2 other teachers and told them not to let me in. This is proof they have no respect for the people paying for their services the same people trusting them to watch their children while they go to work. PATHETIC!

My daughter went to pick up her daughter from the child care facilities and the Director Kristine did not want to let her in Twice she did that. Then I went to the front desk to say they still did not open the door. So Kristine finally came out denying that she did not want to open the door. The staff at front desk were explaining about safety issues. I get that but what safety is the facility showing by withholding a child from their mother especially that you know the mother. Now there’s no assurance that my grandchild will be safe so my daughter is pulling her out. The one staff that dealt with us was nice until she said don’t get into any more fist fights. Not my character but I will stand up for my rights and my family. Very unprofessional organization.

I was only there for a night for an event called "Scratcharoke" the room we were in was very spacious and accommodated the B-boys dancing as well as room for the turn tablists and DJs.
26 March 2018 14:10
We have been trying the YMCA pool for several weeks now and we love how spacious it is for the kids to roam around and practice swimming.
The two things I did not like about the YMCA pool is how cold the water is that the kids lips turn blue after an hour and the adults found it too cold to swim too. So there is really no enjoyment in the pool if they cannot turn the heat up since it is all glass windows beside the pool.
The cost nearly floored me. $16.00 for a 4 1/2 yr old and an adult.
The cost is much much higher to the comparison of the City of Brampton pools. Their cost is $2.00/child and $2.50/ adult. I have done my research and have been told the pools are at 80 degrees in temperature in the city pools. I hope that in the future that when we do come for a swim we get compensated in some way so that we can continue using the facilities.
23 March 2018 15:54
Facility is great so is the staff. The changes they made to the online schedule is terrible though. It doesnt allow you to see when the gym is open between programs. Not nearly as convenient as it used to be.
08 March 2018 3:56
Not many cardio machines to choose from. Has a good variety of leg strength equipment but the upper body and a equipment is a bit outdated. Most popular to families, kids, and students. Didn't see many other working professionals there
06 March 2018 4:13
This is a full-service YMCA with plenty of things to do martial arts Judo Aikido running track weights treadmills the whole nine yards there is also a squash court full basketball court check their website they have a ton of things to do as well as a pool
03 March 2018 19:08
Amazing center! Most staff are quite nice and helpful. Gym barbells and dumbbells could use some updating, but the gym is well equipped. I also love the pool!
